Fremont resident
Edgar Charles Potter, 78, of Fremont, died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, July 14, 2001 in Providence Hospital in Sandusky.
He was born July 2, 1923, in Sandusky, to Merritt P. and Erma J. (Thurston) Potter. Both are deceased. He married
Helen L. Cleveland and she died. He married
Eleanor Theise and she preceded him in death.
Surviving include: two sons, Dean Edgar Potter of Cincinnati, and Stephan Charles Potter of Clyde; a sister, Carol Sue (Potter) Marinis of Pt. Clinton; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Potter was a 1939 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He was Elevator Manager at Green Springs Co-Op; owned and operated Pizza Rama in Fremont for ten years; and was a member of Fremont Moose 1286; and the Masons.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs with the Rev. Stephen Messinger officiating. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Engle-Young Funeral Home in Green Springs.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Former Sycamore resident
Patricia "Patty" Fox of Tuscon, Ariz., and formerly of Sycamore, died July 6, 2001 at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Tiffin, to Robert N. and Mary (Johnson) Ritter. He is deceased and she survives in Tucson.
She married
Charles Moyer and they divorced.
Survivors also include: two daughters, Roxanne Fuller of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Jan Moyer of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Robert Moyer of Tiffin, and Jeffrey Moyer of Tucson, Ariz., a grandson; Robby Moyer of Tiffin; three brothers, Robert Britton of Alaska, Clifford and Steve Ritter, both of Tuscon; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Balliet of Sycamore, Mrs. Roberta Craig of Shippensburg, Pa., and Miss Nora Ritter of Tucson.
Mrs. Fox attended Sycamore H.S. and was a bookkeeper. She was of the Catholic faith.
A memorial service and burial were private.

Richard J. Barnes
Autolite retiree
Richard J. Barnes, 79, of Fremont, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001 in Bellevue Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1922 in Rocky Ridge, to Richard S. and Pearl O. (Paule) Barnes. They are deceased. On June 11, 1949, he married
Mary C. Mann. She died in 1997.
Survivors include: six sons, Dennis, Stanton W., Richard F. and Shaun C. Barnes all of Fremont, and James K. and Paul P. Barnes of Clyde; a daughter, Kathleen Ann Barnes of Naples, Fla., and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a son, Darryl Barnes; a brother, Raymond Barnes; and a sister, Olive Chiarelli.
Mr. Barnes was a WW II Navy veteran, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde, VFW and Eagles, both in Clyde, and Fremont Moose. He attended school in Oak Harbor.
He was employed at Autolite in Fostoria and retired in 1987 after 17 years of employment.
A mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. A prayer service will precede services. The Rev. Dennis Schroeder will be the officiant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 9:30-10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mildred F. Klein
Mercy Hospital of Tiffin nurse
Mildred Florence Klein, 85, of Sycamore, died at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at Altercare Nursing Home in Bucyrus.
She was born Nov. 26, 1915 in Glouster to William and Nellie (DeGarmour) McCance. They are deceased. She was raised by Vincent and Florence Everhart and they are deceased. She married
the late C. Fredrick Klein and they divorced.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Pat) Morral of Tiro; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased also include: two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Klein graduated from Columbus School of Nursing and retired as an L. P. N. at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, in the maternity ward, and worked at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Little Sandusky Bible Church near Harpster.
Graveside services will take place at a later date. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery.

Kenneth A. Wenner

Kenneth A. Wenner, 66, of Water St. in Tiffin, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1935 in Seneca County, to Lloyd and Doris (Cooley) Wenner. Tthey are deceased. On Nov. 28, 1981, in Tiffin, he married
Sharon M. (Kizer) Mogle and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Kenneth A. Wenner II of Defiance; three daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Terry) Sager, and Mrs. Ed (Sharon) DeMonte, both of Tiffin, and Paula Ruble of Orlando, Fla., step-daughters, Brenda Kingseed and Tracy Raitz, both of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Doug (Sandy) Halcomb of Palm Coast, Fla., and two brothers, Jim Wenner of Bucyrus and Larry Wenner of Attica; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Mr. Wenner was a member of First Lutheran Church, a 1953 graduate of Tiffin Columbian H. S. and attended the University of Toledo. He was personnel manager of Pettibone and Great Lakes Carbon Corp., and a stable superintendent at Beulah Park in Columbus.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 846, U.S. Trotting Assoc., Mended Hearts Chapter 100. He enjoyed golfing, racehorses, and fishing.
Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home in Tiffin with the Rev. Richard A. Moe officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wendell Smith
Former Bettsville mayor
Wendell Smith, 72, of 117 State St., Bettsville, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001, in Toledo Hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1928, to Ralph and Pauline (Siegrist) Smith. On March 13, 1950, he married
Betty Shriver, and she survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Brenda Gamertsfelder and Starr Lanning, both of Bettsville, Wendy Eakin of Fremont and Heidi Hunt of Vermillion; three brothers, Ralph Smith and JoAllen Smith, both of Tiffin, and Donald Smith of Perrysburg; a sister, Betty Deason of Tiffin; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild.
Deceased is a brother, Jim Smith.
Mr. Smith retired after 38 years from C. E. Basic Co., and was a former mayor of Bettsville. His memberships included Tiffin Lodge 77 Free and Accepted Masons and the Basic Quarter Century Club. He was also an avid sprint car racer, golfer and bowler.
The Rev. Randy Correll will officiate the 10 a.m. Saturday funeral service at the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville. Burial will be at Pleasant Union cemetery of Old Fort.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m.

Marla A. Kline

Marla A. Kline, 64, of Risingsun, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Bradner, to Clarence M. and M. Irene (Stahl) Cox. She survives and he is deceased. On March 23, 1956, she married
Nolan M. Kline at Scott-Trinity United Methodist Church near Risingsun, and he survives.
Survivors also include: three sons, Gregory N. and Jonathan L. Kline, both of Risingsun, and Jeffrey P. Kline of Richmond Heights; three daughters, Jennifer L. Kessler of Helena, Jo Ellen Jacquot of Risingsun, and Mrs. David (Lori A.) Bankey of Cleburne, Texas; a brother, James Cox of Risingsun; a sister, Bonnie Thaxton of Fostoria, and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Kline graduated in 1954 from Risingsun High School. She retired from Allied Automotive Corp. in December 1992, after 30 years. She was a member of the Scott-Trinity United Methodist Church and the Risingsun Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will be in Trinity cemetery, Scott Township, near Risingsun.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Everett L. Trautwein
Retired farmer
Everett L. Trautwein, 77, of 19214 SH 37, Upper Sandusky, died at 7:47 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2001, in Marion General Hospital.
Mr. Trautwein was born June 23, 1924, in Mifflin Township, Wyandot County, to Floyd and Lola (Owens) Trautwein. He married
Lovena M. McCollough in Arlington Oct. 12, 1948, and she survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, William and Jeffrey of Upper Sandusky, and Dennis of Dalton; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Rebecca) Blue of Bradner; eight grandchildren; a brother, Vernon of Fremont; and two sisters, Irene Musgrave of Forest, and Ruth Scheck of Sebring, Fla.
A grandson, three brothers and a sister are deceased.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Appling during World War II from 1943-1946; was a retired grain and livestock farmer; served as a Marseilles Twp. Trustee for 20 years; past member of Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation; honorary member of the Upper Sandusky FFA; a Marseilles volunteer fireman; a member of the Marseilles Presbyterian Church and the Marseilles Sportman's Club. He loved bowling and bowled on three different leagues and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev. Rex Roth officiating. Military graveside rites at the Chandler cemetery-Marseilles Twp. will be conducted by local veteran organizations.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Leon A. Didion
Clyde truck driver
Leon A. "Lost Dog" Didion, 64, of Burkholder Road, Clyde, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, in Bellevue Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1937, in Bellevue to Leo F. and Mary Didion. He married
Anna Marie Scott in March of 1995 and she survives.
Other survivors include: his mother; four sons, Jack of Northwood, Leo F. and Clarence of Norwalk, and Steve Marinoff; a step-son, David Koch of Toledo; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Janet) Filsinger and Carol Brant, both of Norwalk; a step-daughter, Michell Howey of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, John Didion of Toledo; and a sister, Mrs. Lou (Mary) Holyes of Attica.
His father is deceased.
He was educated in the Bellevue Schools; was a veteran of Navy Peace Time; a truck driver for Deppen Trucking, Bellevue; and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Eagles in Clyde.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in the veteran's section of the McPherson cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Calcutta-Mary Elizabeth Hicks
Bloomville resident's mother
Calcutta-Mary Elizabeth Hicks of South Surry Road, East Liverpool, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, in the Calcutta Health Care Center where she had been a patient for two months.
She was born Oct. 5, 1919, to Raymond and Mary Elizabeth (Cole) Jackson. She married
Harry Hicks May 29, 1941, and he survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Rev. Gary Hicks of Bloomville, Roger of Lakewood, and Ray of Naples, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Hodnot of East Liverpool.
Deceased are: a brother, Raymond; a stepbrother, Retired Col. Karl Jackson; and a sister, Dorothy Masters.
Mrs. Hicks retired in December of 1979 after serving as secretary in the Mayor's office and Safety Service Director's office at East Liverpool under four mayoral administrations. A lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, she had been involved in many areas of the church including the Crusaders Class, a teacher for children's Sunday School, the United Methodist Women, the choir, the Esther Bible Club and as a youth counselor for the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Other areas of interest included: a Cub Scout Den mother, a DeMolay Mother, a CPR instructor for the American Red Cross, a member of Business and Professional Women, and a member of TOPS.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at The Dawson Funeral Home, East Liverpool with the Rev. Dave Maly of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery followed by a reception at The Dawson Family Center.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
