Verta F. Hendricks
Fostoria resident
Verta F. Hendricks, 81, of S. Poplar St., died at 9:35 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria.
She was born Sept. 11,1919, in Fostoria, to S. Oden and Myrtle (Folk) Martin. On Nov. 15, 1939, in Fostoria, she married
Arthur D. Hendricks. He died March 19, 1985.
Survivors include: a brother, Melvin Reynolds of McComb; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased include: a brother, Don Reynolds; and a sister, Virginia Woodruff.
Mrs. Hendricks was a homemaker, a member of the Fostoria Baptist Church, and a former volunteer at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. David Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens near Arcadia.
Visitation is one hour prior to Monday's service, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Fostoria Baptist Church.
William F. Bartelt, Jr.
Chemist/WWII veteran
William F. Bartelt, Jr. 78, of Sandusky CR 175, in Clyde, died Wed., June 6, 2001, at his residence.
He was born July 11, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., to Dr. William F. and Grace (Macomber) Bartelt, Sr., both are deceased. On Aug. 28, 1954, he married
Ruth Johnson and she survives.
Survivors also include: a step-mother, Maree (Littlefield) Bartelt of Grand Junction, Colo., two sons, Richard Bartelt of Nashville, Tenn., and William F. Bartelt, III, of Worthington; a daughter, Mrs. Jay (Joan) Bartelt-Cotton; and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister Doris Phillip.
Mr. Bartelt, Jr. served in the U.S. Army during WW II and received the Bronze Star, he also served with the Red Cross in Vienna after the war. He graduated from Know College in Galesburg, Ill., and became a chemist. He was employed with Chemical Waste Management in Vickery, retiring in 1987.
He served on the Clyde School Board in the late 70's and early 80's; and had been involved in the Clyde Band Boosters and Clyde Safety Village. He received Life Master in bridge as well as taught it; was a member of the Civil War Round Table in Chicago and Kalamazoo, Mich., and a member of the Chicago Chamber of Commerce.
Services will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery.
There will be no visitations.

Edna Mae Noftz
Clyde resident
Edna Mae Noftz, 81, formerly of Forest St., in Clyde, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Bellevue Care Center.
She was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Fremont, to Charles and Frances (North) Massman. She married
Walter Noftz. He is deceased.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Howell of Sandusky, and Mrs. Donald (Mary) Lovins of Bellevue; a sister, Mildred Rinebold of Fremont; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a brother, Charles Massman; and two sisters, Mary and Ruth Massman.
Mrs. Noftz was a homemaker and attended Grace Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church, both in Fremont. She was a graduate of Ross High School.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. The Rev. David Wietelmann will be the officiant. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation is noon-2 p.m., Monday, prior to services, at the funeral home.

Clinton "Clint" W. Snook
Porcelain Products employee
Clinton "Clint" W. Snook, 49, of 524 W. St., in Carey, died at 4:45 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.
He was born Dec. 24, 1951, in Kenton, to Harry C. and Betty E. (Shively) Snook, both survive. On Aug. 13, 1977, in Wharton, he married
LuAnn Hoy, and she survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Donald Snook of Carey; two daughters, Mrs. Timothy (Dawn) Secoy of Upper Sandusky, and Dennell Yoder of Findlay; a brother, Larry Snook and a sister, Nancy Fredritz, both of Carey; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Snook was a Kiln Fireman with Porcelain Products in Carey for 30 years. He was a 1970 graduate of Carey High School and was affiliated with Grace United Methodist Church in Carey.
He was a member of the Late Great Chevy's Car Club in Dunkirk; Black-Lamberjack VFW Post 3579 in Carey, the American Legion Earl Green Post 344 in Carey; and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Guam.
services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. The Reverends, Derek Hines and James Sharrett will officiate. Military graveside services will be at Wharton-Richland Union cemetery in Wharton.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

Idessa Poe

Idessa Poe, 71, formerly of E. Perry St., died at 2:15 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Autumnwood Care Center.
She was born May 19, 1930, in Paintsville, Ky., to John H. and Ducie (Hall) Poe. Bothare deceased. In Bettsville, she married
William Mowery. He is deceased.
Survivors include a brother, Esery Poe of Bettsville, and a half brother, Thomas Patrick of Fostoria.
She attended Hopewell-Loudon School, was employed with Gem Mfg., Co., in Bascom and was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Private graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at Spring Grove cemetery in Carey, with the Rev. Wendell Shepherd presiding.
There will be no visitation.
Homer Perkins
Chrysler Corp. retiree
Homer Perkins, 75, of 17001 St. Hwy 30 W., of Upper Sandusky, died at 12:50 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2001, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born April 2, 1926, in Marshes Siding, Ky., to Elsic and Mandy (Stephen) Perkins. On March 2, 1974, he married
Barbara Ann Bland, and she survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, Roger and Charles Perkins, both of Cincinnati; and a daughter, Mrs. Janet Rizza of Cincinnati; a brother, Edward Perkins of Ky., six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Deceased are: a son, Jimmy Perkins; a brother, Dewey Perkins; and three sisters, Myrtle, Floria, and Delli.
Mr. Perkins retired in 1991 as an assembler at the Chrysler Corp. Truck Plant in Warren, Mich., after 27 years. He attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Carey, was a life member of the Carey VFW Post 3759, and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Services will be at 11 a.m, Tuesday, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Carey. The Elder Brent Layne will officiate. Military graveside services will be in Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m., Sunday, and 2-9 p.m., Monday, and one hour prior to services on Tuesday, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
Laura S. Fuerstenau-Lambright

Laura S. Fuerstenau-Lambright, 48, of 405 E. Fremont St., died Wed., June 6, 2001, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 3, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Otto C. and Mary E. (Black) Fuerstenau. Her father is deceased, and her mother survives. On Feb. 12, 1985, in Fostoria, she married
Bill G. Lambright, and he survives.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Kristy L. Lambright of Fostoria; a brother, Gerald C. Fuerstenau of Fostoria; three sisters, Jeanne M. Fuerstenau, Mrs. Michael (Belinda R.) Stahl, and Deanne B. Fuerstenau, all of Fostoria; and a grandchild.
Deceased include: two brothers, Roy and Delbert Fuerstenau, and a sister, Jeanette Fuerstenau.
Mrs. Lambright was a homemaker.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Robert Chew of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.

Janet Ruth Hughey

Janet Ruth Hughey, 81, of 274-E Lelar St., died at 2:45 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Toledo to Frank and Edna (Sills) Tabor. She married
Vaughn V. Hughey on July 26, 1936, in Flint, Mich.; and he died Nov. 1, 1987.
Survivors include: five sons, David of Grand Cayman Island, British West Indies, Richard of Holt, Mich., Jon of San Francisco, R. Scott of Longview, Wash., and Steven of Montpelier; a daughter, Barbara Hughey of Bucyrus; six grandchildren; and a brother, Karel Taborsky of Lansing, Mich.
A sister, Vlasta Tremayne, is deceased.
She was a homemaker; member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church, Mohawk Country Club, United Commercial Travellers; a volunteer at Tiffin Mercy Hospital; an avid golf and bridge player; and enjoyed oil painting.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Old Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Trumble officiating.
There will be private visitation at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to either Seneca County Humane Society or to Community Hospice Care, Tiffin.
Richard E. Martin

Richard E. "Dick" Martin, 62, of 452 Miami St., died Thursday, June 7, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
Mr. Martin was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Fostoria to Edward and Ruth (Parker) Martin. He married
Virginia A. Kopp on May 18, 1960, in Angola, Ind. and she survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. David (Cheryl) Huss of Tiffin, Barbara Stuthard of Reynoldsburg, and Mrs. Bill (Donna) Woelk of Dayton; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Allen (Judy) Biller of Melmore, and Mrs. Larry (Vicki) Brickner of Tiffin.
Deceased are: his parents; a daughter, Constance Martin; and a brother, Kenneth.
He was in the U.S. Navy, serving May, 1956 to May, 1962; retired from Webster Industries in the oven foundry after 13 years, worked at Hayes Albion for 18 years; and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The Rosary will be recited at 12:15 p.m. Monday in the St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by the funeral mass at 12:30 p.m. with the Msgr. Edward Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery where a military graveside service will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Dorothy Flechtner

Dorothy Flechtner, 94, formerly of W. North St., Fostoria, died at 12:40 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2001, in Pebble Creek Care Center, Akron, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Flechtner was born May 25, 1907, in Fremont to Timothy C. and Mary (Haubert) Reardon. She married
August M. Flechtner May 4, 1935, in Fremont. He died Aug. 11, 1975.
Survivors include: three sons, Thomas W. of Cleveland Heights, Richard O. of Carthage, N.Y., and Harry M. of Pittsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Ottney of Gibsonburg, and Sr. Mary Gregory of Fremont.
She was a homemaker, and member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbus.
Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the mass of Christian burial following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 6-8 Tuesday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 p.m.

O. Frederick Newell
Upper Sandusky trucker
O. Frederick (Fritz) Newell, 90, of 455 Circular Dr., Upper Sandusky, died at 2:42 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Marion General Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1911, in Mifflin Township of Wyandot County, to O. Maskey and Catherine (Frost) Newell. He married
Gladys M. Iams Aug. 31, 1935, in Newport, Ky. She died June 29, 1978.
Survivors include: a son, Richard F. of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Mrs. William (Norita Ann) Anderson of Normal, Ill.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vergene McClary of Plymouth.
A brother, Edward "Whitey;" and a sister, Thelma Maffett are deceased.
Mr. Newell was a life-time resident of Wyandot County; a police officer, a truck driver and owner/operator of milk routes for the Chief Dairy and later worked for Sammet Trucking, both of Upper Sandusky; retired in 1980 from Wyandot Dolomite in Carey; and at the time of his death was co-owner of Hardly Able Maintenance Service in Upper Sandusky. He was a 53-year member of the First Lutheran Church, life member of BPOE Elks #83 where he served as tiler for 10 years, member of Moose Lodge #1093, and a member of Eagles Aries #2184, all of Upper Sandusky.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, in the First Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, with the Pastor Julianne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Sunday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where there will be an Elk's Memorial Service at 8:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
