Franklin Junior Rhoads

Franklin Junior Rhoads, 76, of 222 Monroe St., Bettsville, died at 8 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2001, in Fremont Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since May 23.
He was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Pt. Washington, Ohio to James and Hazel (Jacobs) Rhoads. On April 15, 1949, in the Burgoon Church, he married
Wilma Marie Smith, and she survives.
Survivors also include: three sons, Richard Rhoads of Zweibrueken, Germany, David and Murray Rhoads, both of Bettsville; two daughters, Deborah Raby of Bucyrus, and Diane Klaiss of Bettsville; a brother, Ralph Rhoads of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters, Florence Parks and Dorothy Hayes, both of Newcomerstown, Ohio, and Betty Ann Rhoads of Cambridge; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death are two sisters, Lethal Cunningham and Laura Miller.
Mr. Rhoads graduated from Port Washington High School, and retired from Woolworth/Woolco Dept. Store in Fremont. Additionally, he was a WWII U.S. Navy war veteran.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville, with the Rev. Martha Gross officiating. Burial will be in Smith cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Bettsville.

Harold 'Hootie' P. Huth
Fostoria resident
Harold "Hootie" P. Huth, 79, of 146 W. Sixth St., died at 2:12 a.m., Sunday, June 3, 2001, in St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
He was born July 5, 1921, in Fostoria, to Eugene and Virgil "Virgie" (Bohyer) Huth. On Jan. 24, 1942, in Fostoria, he married
Betty Ohls and she survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a son, Robert A. Huth of Findlay; and two grandchildren, Brandon R. and Amy Jo Huth.
Preceding him in death also include a half-brother, Joe Kahler.
Mr. Huth retired in 1987, after 38 years as an Appliance Sales Associate with Sears, in Fostoria and Findlay.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, the Fostoria American Legion Post 73, a 1939 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, and the Fostoria Country Club. Additionally he was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in WWII.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery, near Arcadia.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, with an 8:30 p.m. Christian Wake Service, at funeral home.

Helen Louise Potter
Former restaurant owner
Helen Louise Potter, 76, of Cedar St., Fremont, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, in Bellevue Hospital.
She was born on Jan. 6, 1925, in Seneca County, to Wayne and Bernice (Eborg) Cleveland.
Survivors include: her former husband, Edgar Potter of Fremont; two sons, Dean E. Potter of Cincinnati, and Stephen Potter of Clyde; a daughter, Mrs. James (Carol Sue) Marinis of Pt. Clinton; a brother, Wayne Cleveland of Ajo, Ariz., and two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Marian) Myers of Clyde, and Mrs. Wayne (Marlene) Gerber of Bellevue; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death include: three brothers, Carl, Henry and Donald Cleveland, and a sister, Lucille Cleveland.
Mrs. Potter, graduated from Green Springs High School in 1943, and was a member of the Clyde VFW, Clyde Eagles Auxiliary, and Fremont Moose Auxiliary.
She owned Clyde Country Inn Restaurant and the former Fremont Pizza-Rama.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Interment will be in Green Springs cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, with a 6:45 p.m. Clyde Eagles service.

Richard G. Duvall
Railroad Retiree
Richard G. Duvall, 77, of 1039 Carrie Lane in Fostoria, died at 2:19 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2001, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
He was born Jan. 8, 1924, in Genoa, to Clarence M. and Ethel (Tuttle) Duvall. On Aug. 27, 1951, in Fostoria, he married
Mary Stevenson, and she survives.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Merrill (Deborah) Ward of Fostoria, and seven grandchildren.
Deceased are his parents.
Mr. Duvall was a car inspector for 27 years with the Norfolk-Western Railroad, and retired in 1975. Having served in WWII with the U.S. Army, and was a member of Fostoria Assembly of God.
Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Fostoria Assembly of God, with the Rev. Charles Jarvis officiating. Interment will take place in Preston cemetery in Alger.
Visitations are private.

John Gampetro
Former Bellevue Mfg. employee
John Gampetro, 89, of Kilbourne St., in Bellevue, died Monday, June 4, 2001, in Bellevue Care Center.
He was born March 11, 1912, in New York City, to Joseph and Josephine (Spagna) Gampetro. In September, 1936, he married
Marianne Artino, and she survives.
Survivors also include: two brothers, Tom and Domonic Gampetro, and two sisters, Donna Provenzele and Rose Matasic, all of Youngstown.
Deceased are: a daughter, Mrs. James Gampetro of Buffalo, Wyo., an infant son; three brothers, Charles, Vincent and Joseph Gampetro, and a sister Ann Frankino.
Mr. Gampetro, attended Youngstown East High School and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue and the Club Ameritel. He was a machinist at Bellevue Mfg. for 20 years, and employed at Cockshut (Armstrong).
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue with the Rev. Robert Tucerri officiating. Interment will be in the Bellevue Catholic cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, with Christian Wake Services beginning at 3:30 p.m., at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St. in Bellevue.
Junior L. Eidt
National Machinery Retiree
Junior L. Eidt, 73, of 849 N. Water St., in Tiffin, died at 1:40 a.m., Sunday, June 3, 2001 in Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin, where he had been a patient since February.
He was born June 21, 1927, in Pleasant Twp., Seneca County, to Jacob and Etta Mae (Fast) Eidt. On Dec. 10, 1949, in Tiffin, he married
Shirley E. Solze and she survives.
Survivors also include: three sons, Gary Eidt of Milton, Wisc., Jeffrey Eidt of Tiffin, and Dennis Eidt of Holland, Mich., three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Diana) Wise, Patricia Gooding, and Gail Eidt, all of Tiffin; three brothers, Earl Eidt of Galion, John Eidt of Calif., and Richard Eidt of Findlay; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: two brothers, George and Kenneth Eidt; and a sister, Beverly Whealen.
Mr. Eidt retired after 10 years of employment as a machinist for Webster Mfg. and 20 years with National Machinery, in Tiffin. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army, having served in the Philippines. He enjoyed participating in men's fast pitch, softball, bowling and golfing and loved to fish during his retirement.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin. Pastor Jim Michaels will be the officiant. Burial, at a later date, will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation is one hour prior to Wednesday's services at the funeral home.

Doyle E. (Lucky) McHaffie

Doyle E. (Lucky) McHaffie, 76, of Glendale Heights, Ill, died June 3, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 4, 1925, in Jackson Township, to Nash S. and Laura (Rouser) McHaffie. His second wife, Valerie McHaffie is deceased.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Cole of Stone Mountain, Ga., two sons, Doyle E. McHaffie Jr. and Grant McHaffie of LaMarada, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Little of Tiffin, Mrs. Robert (Eileen) Yoder of Kansas; and several grandchildren.
Deceased include a brother, Nash Summer McHaffie and a granddaughter.
Mr. McHaffie was a Air Force Lt., serving in WWII, from 1943 to 1945. He owned and operated McHaffie and Sons Plumbing and Heating in Tiffin during the 1950s and 60s.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Graveside services for Doyle E. McHaffie, 76, who died June 3, 2001, will take place at 10:30 a.m., July 23 at Fountain cemetery in Fostoria. The Rev. Robert Snyder will be the officiant.
Paul Deeds Keller
Brother of Sycamore residents
Paul Deeds Keller, 86, of Oak Crest Village in Baltimore, Md. died June 3, 2001.
He was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Ostrander, Ohio, to Tracey Gibson Keller and Grace (Deeds) Keller. He was married
to Idola Ansley for 54 years. She is deceased.
Survivors include: two brothers, Clarence and Gibson of Sycamore; and a sister, Kathleen Schweinfurth, of New Bloomington.
Deceased include a sister, Virginia Everhart.
Mr. Keller served in the U.S. Army's 9th Infantry Division. He fought in Africa, Sicily, and Europe (Normandy, Cotentin Peninsula, Northern France, Battle of the Bulge, and the Remagen Bridgehead). He became a Captain and was awarded the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Eight Campaign Stars, and two invasion arrowheads. After WW II, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring as Lt. Colonel.
He worked for Hobart Equipment, in Columbus and in sales with Economics Laboratory, both in Columbus and Detroit.
He co-owned and operated, with his wife, Idola, Stewart's Root Beer Drive-In of Whitehall from 1959-1975, and retired from Stout Sales in 1994.
He was national president of The Ninth Infantry Division Association; officer of Whitehall Lions Club; past treasurer of the Ohio State Restaurant Assoc., treasurer and deacon of East Columbus Christian Church; Whitehall City Councilman; member of Reserve Officers Assoc., and Whitehall Democratic Club, Color Guard of VFW Post 8794; and was active in Boy Scouts and many Whitehall civic groups.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., in Columbus.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday., and 10-11a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Evans Funeral Home.
Mark G. Peyton

Mark G. Peyton, 44, of Maple St., in Fostoria, died at 4:15 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 21, 1957, in Fostoria, to Robert and Mary Ann (Cook) Peyton, who survive in Fostoria. On May 21, 1977, in Fostoria, he married
Christina Steinhauer, who survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Jonathan Peyton and a daughter, Jessica Peyton, both at home; and two sisters, Janna Wagner of Fostoria, and Cindy Fennewald of Toledo.
Mr. Peyton was owner and operator of Peyton Remodeling in Fostoria. He was a 1975 graduate of Fostoria High School and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fostoria.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. The Rev. Terry Steinhauer will be the officiant. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m., Thursday, and one hour prior to Friday's services, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Frances L. Schwochow
Clyde resident
Frances L. Schwochow, 84, of Franks Ave., died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in his residence.
She was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Dayton, to George M. and Blanche E. (Krewson) Swigart. On Aug. 11, 1979, she married
Albert Schwochow. He is deceased.
Survivors include four great nephews.
Deceased also include: her parents, her step-mother Hazel (Tucker) Swigart, and two sisters, Grace Schack and Winefred Swigart.
Mrs. Schwochow was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clyde; the Christian Business Women; Clyde Garden Club; Sandusky County Farm Bureau and the Good Housekeeping Circle at the church. She was a 1934 graduate of Dayton Stivers High School, and a 1951 graduate of Dayton Bible Institute. She was ordained minister of Open Bible Standard Church in 1952 and served as missionary in Venezuela for four years.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde, with the Rev. Gerry Gosnell officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clyde.
James L. Franks

James L. Franks, 80, of N. Woodland Ave., died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in Countryside Continuing Care.
He was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Clyde, to Ralph and Grace (Conley) Franks. On Nov. 11, 1943 he married
Hazel Ellen Franks, and she survives.
Survivors also include: three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Karen) Beier, Mrs. Paul (Connie) Patrick, and Mrs. Mike (Joni) Montgomery, all of Clyde; a brother Don Franks of Clyde; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a brother, Howard Franks, and a sister, Mary Lou Flood.
Mr. Franks was a 1938 Clyde High School graduate, served in the Coast Guard in WW II, and was a self-employed roofing contractor for 41 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clyde; both the Clyde Eagles and Moose; life member of Green Springs VFW; Kiwanis of Clyde; Monticello Lodge 244; Zenobia Temple and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Services will be private, with the Rev. Bill Feasel presiding.
Visitation is 10 a.m.-noon, Friday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St. in Clyde.
