Infant son of Bellevue residents

Jacob Raymond Merlin Hosang, day-old son of Jeff and Constance (Koonce) Hosang of 5741 SR 113, Bellevue, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Akron.

He was born May 12, 2001, at Akron General Hospital at 7:07 p.m., and weighed 5-pounds, 2-ounces, and was 17-3/8-inches long.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Constance Hosang, a brother, Thomas Hosang and a sister, Sarah Hosang, both at home. Paternal grandmother is Karen Lieber of Bellevue and Paternal great-grandmothers are Helen Hosang of Attica and Madelyne Boose of Norwalk; Maternal grandmother is Judy Coon of Clyde and Maternal great-grandmothers are Vera Colvin of Clyde and Shirley Koonce of Fremont.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 16209 E. Seneca CR 46 in Bellevue. Burial will be at Bellevue Catholic cemetery.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m., Friday, at Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St. in Bellevue.

Memorials may be made to The March of Dimes or Children's Hospital Medical Center, One Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308-1062.

Doris E. Michaels
North Star Station owner

Doris E. Michaels, 89, of 670 E. SR 18, died, Tuesday May 15, 2001 in the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born Aug. 23, 1911, in Seneca County, to Verne and Gladys Irene (Staley) Swander. Both are deceased. On July 10, 1928, at St. Joseph Church in Tiffin, she married Raymond J. Michaels. He died May 31, 1967.

Survivors include: two sons, John Michaels of Willard, and Frederick Michaels of Attica; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Audrey) Weller of Tiffin, and Mrs. Lyndel (Sylvia) Coder of Attica; a sister Ola Bau of Las Vegas, Nevada; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased are: two sons, Earl and Edward Michaels; two brothers, Virgil and Francis Swander; and a sister, Helen Hill.

Mrs. Michaels was a homemaker and owner of the North Star Service Station.

The Rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, prior to the 11 a.m. services, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. The Rev. James K. Say will be the officiant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday, at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Charity of the Donor's Choice.

Dale Louis Gibbs
Retired truck driver

Dale Louis Gibbs, 79, of 8026 E. CR 24, Republic, died at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2001 in the Ruffing Family Care Center in Bloomville.

He was born October 24, 1921, in Fremont, to Rex and Hattie (Schact) Gibbs. Both are deceased. On June 4, 1946, in Pomeroy, he married Alice C. McGrath. She died on June 15, 1993.

Survivors include: four sons, Dale Gibbs, Jr. of Elida, Raymond Gibbs of Old Fort, David Gibbs of Republic, and Thomas Gibbs of Menton, Ind., three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Penny) Feucht of Tiffin, Alice Rhoads of Palestine, Ind., and Mrs. John (Diana) Murray of Grand Prairie, TX; two sisters, Irene Shaffer and Reva Lehman, both of Fremont, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Deceased include: a brother, Leroy Gibbs and a sister, Helen Drown.

Mr. Gibbs served in the Army, retired in 1983 from Green Bay Packaging in Fremont, after 5 years as a truck driver. He also drove for the Fruit Belt Trucking in Clyde. He drove truck for 48 years.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge 846, Eagles Aerie 402, both of Tiffin, and A.A.R.P.

Services will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin. The Rev. Paul Tyree will be the officiant. Graveside Veteran's Services will be conducted by the VFW and American Legion Councils in Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde.

Visitation is 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Josephine Waddington
Mother of Bellevue residents

Josephine Waddington, 82, Girard St., Norwalk, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Fisher-Titus Hospital.

She was born on March 27, 1919, in Bellevue, to Emil and Kathryn (Wiegand) Meyer. They are deceased. On July 4, 1940, she married Carl Waddington, and he survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, William Waddington of Huron, and Ronald Waddington of Bellevue; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Judy) Uther of Norwalk; two brothers, Harold Meyer of Norwalk, and Emil Meyer, Jr. of Bellevue; a sister, Mrs. Ed (Isabell) Koch of Bellevue; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Deceased include: four brothers, Edward, Albert, Carl and Clarence Meyer; three sisters, Elizabeth Martin, Florence Kahler and Irene Johnson.

Mrs Waddington was a homemaker and a Bellevue High School graduate in 1937. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St. in Bellevue. The Rev. David Wietelmann will be the officiant. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Huron.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m.,Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue.

Linda L. Eidenour
Fostoria area resident

Linda L. Eidenour, 53, of 9903 W. Twp. Rd. 36, Fostoria, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Lexington, Ky.

She was born Oct. 13, 1947, in Tiffin to Lyle F. and Elizabeth (Barnes) King. On Dec. 10, 1981, she married Rick L. Eidenour in Bettsville and he survives.

Other survivors include: her father of Bettsville; two sons, Dustin Gerhardstein and Matthew Eidenour of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Denis (Renae) McLaughlin of Tiffin, and Stephanie Eidenour of Fostoria; three step-children, Chris and Jessica Eidenour of Fostoria, and Kelly Eidenour of Perrysburg; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Jay D. King of Pennsylvania, and Michael King of Green Springs.

Her mother and a brother, Larry L. King, are deceased.

She was a graduate of Bettsville High School and a retail merchandiser.

A private memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Maurine Y. Moyer-Nash
Former Carey resident

Maurine Y. Moyer-Nash, 88, of Rosewood Care Center, Converse, Texas, and formerly of Carey, died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in the Northeast Baptist Hospital, San Antonio, Texas.

She was born April 25, 1913, in Carey to Dr. Franklin (F.L.) and Daisy (Ryder) Moyer. She married Clarence A. Nash on Dec. 31, 1951, in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carey. He died Feb. 26, 1986. She then married Joe R. Perkins and they divorced.

Survivors include: a daughter, Brenda J. Helkey of San Antonio, Texas; two step-sons, Marvin E. Nash of Carey, and Robert A. Nash of Novi, Mich.; eight step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Daryl Moyer of San Jose, Calif.

She was a graduate of Carey High School; retired from Porcelain Products in Carey; member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carey, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Warpole Chapter #366 in Upper Sandusky for a number of years.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Paul W. DeMoss officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the Order of the Eastern Star service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Dorcas Carey Public Library, c/o of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316.

Romaine M. Pfeifer
Upper Sandusky resident

Romaine M. Pfeifer, 86, of 10370 CR 110, Upper Sandusky, died in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Hospital, Findlay, at 3:50 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2001.

She was born March 13, 1915, in Salem Township, Wyandot County, to Edward and Emelia (Binau) Roszman. She married Gerald W. Pfeifer on April 16, 1936, in Monroe, Mich. and he survives.

Other survivors include: a son, James of Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Kreisel of Gahanna, and Mrs. Jack (Nancy Lou) Winters of Findlay; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Deceased are: three brothers, Waldo, Lauren and Edward Jr.; and a sister, Lenora died in infancy.

Mrs. Pfeifer was a homemaker; assisted on the family farm; a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Women of the Church and a former Sunday School teacher, the Order of Eastern Star Warpole Chapter #366, Farm Bureau, Farmers Union; a former member of Rebekah's Lodge; enjoyed playing cards; and was a Duke University basketball fan.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. James Barkenquast officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky; and one hour prior to the service at the church, Saturday.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Wyandot County Home Health Agency, Upper Sandusky, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Clifton E. Reitz
Founder of Reitz Electric

Clifton E. Reitz, 92, of Kenney Street, Bellevue, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, in Bellevue Care Center.

He was born Sept. 30, 1908, in Bellevue to Ezra and Clara (Romig) Reitz. On June 3, 1934, he married Marjorie Crosby. She died June 3, 1999.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard of Bellevue, and Jared of Dayton; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Marcia) Herner of Bellevue, and Mrs. Richard (Mary) Frieg of Colorado Springs; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Emma Fleming of Oakland, Calif., and Helen Spragens of Martinez, Calif.

Deceased are a son, Barry; a granddaughter; and two brothers, Carleton and Cletus (Pete).

He was educated in the Bellevue schools; owner and founder of Reitz Electric which was an electrical contractor for many establishments such as Immaculate Conception Church and Aschulman; 65-year member of IBEW Electrical Union; member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Bellevue; charter member and past president of the Bellevue Rotary Club where he received the first Paul Harris Fellow for the Bellevue club in 1983; life member of Bellevue Elks; former president and trustee of the Bellevue Rotary Senior Housing Corp.; and received recognition from the Bellevue Rotary Senior Housing Corp for his involvement in the Rotary.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, in St. Paul United Church of Christ with the Rev. Marvin Rettig officiating; and interment will be in Bellevue cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or Rotary Club of Bellevue/Scholarship.

Eugene C. Presnell
Tiffin resident

Eugene C. Presnell, 77, of Autumnwood Care Center, formerly of 45 Tomb St., Tiffin, died at 9:25 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2001. He was born Jan. 9, 1924 to Wesley and Rhoda (Carver) Presnell. On April 12, 1947 he married Dorothy Jones. She died April 7, 2001.

Surviving include: four sons, Robert W, Presnell of Buena Vista, VA., Joseph E. Presnell of Tiffin, Charles Cline of Granville, and Earl "Bing" Cline of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Deceased are: three brothers and a sister.

Mr. Presnell was a U.S Army Veteran, serving in Korea during WW II, he retired from working in construction, and maintenance. He was also a retired minister. He was a member of the Upper Room Tabernacle. The Rev. Benny Fitch and Pastor Bobby Presnell will co-officiate the 3 p.m. Sunday funeral service at the Upper Room Tabernacle. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Garden cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. And one hour prior to the service at the church. The United Veterans Council will conduct Military Graveside Rites at 9:30 a.m., Monday.

Richard E. 'Dick' Garrett
Retired manager of Columbia Gas System

Richard E. "Dick" Garrett, 90, of 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died at 4:45 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2001 at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria. He was born Dec. 10, 1910 to Gurdon G. and Blanche P. (Rice) Garrett. His wife of 65 years, Geraldine O. Ward, preceded him in death.

Surviving include: two sons, Robert W. Garrett of Uniontown, PA., and Douglas R. Garrett of Boca Raton, Fla.; two step brothers, Garold Garrett of of Worthington, and William Garrett of Boweling Green; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Deceased are: two step-brothers, Wilmer and Norman Garrett; and two sisters, Dorothy C. Elser and Burnadette L. Antieau-Byrd.

Mr. Garrett retired in 1972 from Columbia Gas System after 43 years of service holding management positions in Bowling Green, Amherst and Fostoria. His memberships included: United Methodist Church; Life member Elks Lodge 818; Columbia Gas Quarter Century Club; Volunteer Fire Department; and co-founder of Little league Baseball, all of Bowling Green. He was a volunteer at DayBreak of Fostoria Adult Day Care Center at Good Shepherd Home, an avid sportsman, wood crafter and dealer/collector of antiques.

The Chaplain James Sampson will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Monday, funeral service at the Good Shepherd Home Chapel in Fostoria. Burial will be Oak Grove cemetery in Bowling Green.

There are no visitation hours scheduled. The Mann-Hare Funeral Home of Fostoria is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to DayBreak of Fostoria, 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, OH. 44830.

Samuel 'Sam' E. Morehart Sr.
Tiffin native

Samuel "Sam" E. Morehart, Sr., 60, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2001 while working for Marathon Oil Company at the Findlay Airport. He was born April 7, 1941 in Tiffin to Robert C. and Gertrude Anna (Wise) Morehart, they are deceased. He married his first wife, Yvonne Edwards in August of 1962, they divorced. He married his second wife, Guana Bayless on July 9, 1999, and she survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Samuel E. Morehart Jr. of Tiffin, and Robert M. Morehart of Norwalk; a step-son, John L. Leaf of Fostoria; a daughter, Michelle L. Hoy of Tiffin; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lana Halstead of McComb and Mrs. Lynda Hicks of Forest; two brothers, Charles Morehart of Bucyrus and Carl Morehart of Sandusky; five sisters, Pearl Bare of Tiffin, Nancy Shaull of Findlay, Lucille Haugh of Findlay, Cora Garvin of Fla., Louise Rock of Fostoria; and 11 grandchildren.

Deceased is a sister, Mary Ann Dowdy.

Mr. Morehart worked for C.B. Ellis of California.

The Rev. Chris Cravens will officiate the 10 a.m. Monday funeral service at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. Burial will be at Liberty cemetery, Liberty Twp., OH.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

Nellie M. (Fisher) Adelman
Area residents step-mother

Nellie M. (Fisher) Adelman, 83, of Wakeman, died May 17, 2001 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center. She was born Aug. 25, 1917 to Frank M. and Katerina Polasek. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Edwin J. Adelman of Wakeman.

Also surviving include: two sons, Robert F. Fisher of Statesville, N.C. and James M. Fisher of Wakeman; a daughter, Mrs. JoAnne Jackson of Wakeman; four stepsons, James E. Adelman of Norwalk, Donald P. Adelman of Norwalk, Larry Adelman of San Antonio and Richard Adelman of Huron; two step-daughters, Mrs. Barbara A. Cooper of Tiffin and Mrs. Betty Wise of Shelby; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Deceased are: her first husband, Joseph W. Fisher in 1972; and a grandson.

Mrs. Adelman was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk, she enjoyed spending time with family, cards, scrabble and dominos.

The Rev. William Pifher will officiate the 12 noon Monday Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main St., Norwalk. Burial will be at St. Mary cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk.
