Thomas Botch Fant
Fostoria Foundry retiree
Thomas Botch Fant, 82, of 241 Findlay St., Fostoria, died at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on March 21, 1919, in Enoree, S.C., to Jesse and Ella (McBeth) Fant. They are deceased.
Survivors include: three sisters, Mary Louise Ferguson, Delia Shirley Fairley and Ida Mae Floyd of Fostoria; an adopted sister, R. Marie Ferguson of Fostoria; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are: two brothers, Andrew and J.W. Fant; and two sisters, Virginia E. Fant and Cleo Margarite Tucker.
Mr. Fant was a laborer at Fostoria Foundry for 35 years and retired in 1975. He was a member of UAW Local 1246. As one of the original founding members (49 years) of Faith Chapel AME Church in Fostoria, he served as deacon and on the Board of Trustees, the treasurer's and stewards board.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Chapel AME Church in Fostoria. The Revs. Archie White and Thomas H. Fant will be officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Melanie Lynn Sears
Tiffin University graduate
Melanie Lynn Sears, 24, of Fremont, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Seneca County.
She was born Jan. 19, 1977, in Port Clinton to Robert E. II and Rosemary Sears. In 1994, she married
John Henschke, and they divorced.
Survivors include: a son, John Robert Henschke of Davey, Fla; a sister, Melinda Rose Sears of Fremont; her father, Robert E. Sears II of Fremont; and grandparents Robert and Dorothy Sears of Brookpark.
Prior to graduating from Columbian High School, she was active in basketball, cross country and track. She graduated from Tiffin University in 2000. While there, she played basketball and played professionally in Portugal for ESSA after graduating from TU.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Fremont. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Fremont.
Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home in Fremont, with a 3:30 p.m. wake service.

Frances E. Snodgrass
Upper Sandusky resident
Frances E. Snodgrass, 79, of 312 E. Walker St., Upper Sandusky, died at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Marion General Hospital.
She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Kenton, to Wilbur and Mary (Claphon) Parks, and both are deceased. On June 6, 1965, in Upper Sandusky, she married
George Snodgrass. He died in 1982.
Survivors include two sons, Robert James Wiler of Heath and William Howard Wiley of Findlay; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death also was a sister, Edna Thompson.
Mrs. Snodgrass was a member of the North Salem Lutheran Church in rural Upper Sandusky for more than 30 years. She retired in 1985 from Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky.
She volunteered, performing multiple tasks, at the Wyandot County Senior Citizen Center. Additionally, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, working outdoors, crocheting and Dachshund dogs.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bringman Clark and Co. in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Jack K. Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Old Mission cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pearl L. Tusing
Tiffin Center retiree
Pearl L. Tusing, 73, of 13 Marion St., Bloomville, died Sunday morning, April 29, 2001, at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
She was born April 21, 1928, in Reed Township, Seneca County, to Carl and Ora (Featheringill) Williams. On Aug. 22, 1944, she married
D. Franklyn Tusing. He died April 24, 1998.
Survivors include: three sons, James A. Tusing of Escondido, Calif., Curtiss W. Tusing of Tiffin, and Dan P. Tusing of Rosemont, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Gayle) Matthews of Tiffin; three sisters, Mrs. Emery (Cleona) Garman of Bellevue, Mrs. Leo (Clara) Smith of Fremont, and Mrs. Paul (Adelphia) Martin of Attica; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased also include: two brothers, Marion and Bruce Williams, and a sister, Carol Loar.
Mrs. Tusing was a member of the Bloomville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, a member of the Pythian Sisters, the Bloomville No Name Club, and Mothers Club Hour.
She was employed as an aide at Tiffin Developmental Center, retiring in 1993. From 1968-1972, she owned the Bloomville Hotel and Restaurant.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bloomville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 SR 19, in Bloomville.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Bloomville United Methodist Church.
Marjorie A. Burns
Tiffin Bake Shop retiree
Marjorie A. Burns, 70, of Kiwanis Manor in Tiffin, died Sunday, April 29, 2001 in Bellevue Hospital.
She was born in Bloomdale on Feb. 5, 1931, to Roscoe and Florence (Brandeberry) Drew, and both are deceased. On May 12, 1949, in Charleston, S.C., she married
Eugene K. Burns. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1987.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Burns and Nancy Juliano, both of Bellevue; five sisters, Mrs. Warren (Della) Overly of Fostoria, Mrs. Ralph (Betty) Baker, Barbara Schubert, LaDonna Burns and Joan Simpkins, all of Tiffin; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Deceased include: four brothers, Earl, Charles, Edward, and Alton Drew; and an infant sister, Nancy Drew.
Mrs. Burns, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was employed at Tiffin Bake Shop for 12-1/2 years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary 2858, Eagles Auxiliary 402, and Tiffin Moose 846. She was an avid bingo player and loved fishing.
Services will take place 11 a.m.,Wednesday, with a 10:45 a.m. Rosary, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Keith Stripe as the officiant. Burial will be in the St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Memorial Funeral Home, with a wake service at 7:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Community Hospice Care or to the donor's choice.
Frank J. Sandaran
Bloomville resident
Frank J. Sandaran, 66, of 3514 S. SR 19, Bloomville, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 in Bloomville.
He was born on June 2, 1934, in Barcelona, Spain, to Frank J. and Rosa (Busquets) Sandaran. They precede him in death. On Feb. 19, 1988, he married
Montserrat Carbo, and she survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Manuel Sandaran of S.C., Rosa and Montserrat Sandaran both of Bloomville; a sister, Rosa Sandaran of Spain; and one grandson.
Mr. Sandaran, attended school in Spain. He was employed at Tiffin Scenic Studios and retired.
A memorial service be 9 a.m, Thursday, at St. Peter and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Attica with Father Joe Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Barcelona, Spain.
There will be no visitations.

Glenn Eugene Niederkohr
Carey resident/ WWII veteran
Glenn Eugene Niederkohr, 73, of 354 Maple Ave., Carey, died at 4:40 a.m., at his daughter's home in Carey, Monday, April 30, 2001.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1927, in Carey, to Peter J. and Stella (Rose) Boes. Both precede him in death.
On July 1, 1947, in the St. Wendelin Church in Fostoria, he married
Jean I. Emerine. She died July 13, 1991.
Survivors include: a son, Dr. Randall Niederkohr of Glendale, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Carol) Moore and Lynn Keister, both of Carey; a brother, E. Wade Niederkohr of Carey; five sisters, Mrs. Ray (Ardene) Peiffer of Carey, Mrs. Betty Lou Frankart of Powell, Mrs. Jene (Wanda) Orians of Carey, Mrs. Richard (Freda) Billock of Carey and Mrs. Richard (Jean) Corron of Miamisburg, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Preceding him in death include: two brothers, Harold Niederkohr and Robert Niederkohr (in infancy); and an infant sister, Velma Niederkohr.
Mr. Niederkohr, a WWII Navy veteran, was a retired construction worker, and a Deputy Registrar with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Additionally, he worked with his wife, Jean, at their Carey Furniture Store for many years.
He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, and a life member of both the Carey V.F.W. Post 3579, and the American Legion Post 344.
He served on the school boards of Our Lady of Consolation School and Carey Public School, as well as the committees for the Carey Fest, OLC Fest and the Wyandot County Veteran's Board.
A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. Ernest Waechter, OFM Conv., officiating. Full military graveside services will take place in St. Mary's cemetery, in Carey.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m., Wednesday, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey with an 8:30 p.m. vigil service.

Vernon H. Beard Sr.
Tiffin resident
Vernon H. Beard Sr., 86, of 1120 S. CR 13, died at 9:15 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2001, in St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1915, in Mexico, Ohio, to John and Bertha (Garfield) Beard. On April 3, 1937, in Columbus, he married
Marjorie M. Smith. She preceded him in death on Oct.13,1990.
Survivors include: two sons, Vernon H. Jr. and Edward O. Beard, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Janie Hohman and Charlotte Schumacher, both of Tiffin; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: five brothers, John, Norman, Edward, Robert and William Beard; and a sister, Imogene.
Mr. Beard retired as a salesman for Walker Wholesale Company. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Services will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home with the Rev. O.J. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn cemetery in Tiffin.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Patricia A. Wurm
Former Tiffin resident
Patricia A. Wurm, 71, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died April 30, 2001 in Englewood, Fla.
She was born July 18, 1929, in Tiffin, to Thomas and Evelyn Toepper. In 1951, she married
Norm Schiffler. She later married
Clement Wurm, and he survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Steve Schiffler of Graytown; a daughter, Becky Brown of Oregon; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wurm, a 1947 Columbian High School graduate, retired as a secretary in 1980 from the Shriners, Zenobia Temple.
Arrangements are being handled by National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte.

Cleora M. Finsel
Fostoria resident
Cleora M. Finsel, 91, formerly of 11181 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died at 7:10 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.
She was born June 10, 1909, in McCutchenville, to Joseph and Catherine (Altwies) Clouse. On Sept. 6, 1932, she married
Norbert W. Finsel at Boniface Catholic Church in New Riegel. He died in 1984.
Survivors include a son, Duane J. Finsel of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Dianne) Park of Fostoria; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased include: a son, Don Finsel; two sisters, Clarena Borer and Bertilla Elchert; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Finsel was a homemaker, and had been the Cafeteria Operator at Excello Corp., for many years.
She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, and its Rosary-Altar Society; a Charter member of the Fostoria Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council 1197; a Golden Age Eagle of Fostoria Eagles Aerie Auxiliary 430; 55 Plus Club; Catholic Knights of Ohio Branch 52, in New Riegel; and a 1927 graduate of New Riegel High School.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, with a 10 a.m. Rosary service,in St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, with an 8:30 p.m. Christian Wake service, at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria.
Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Schools Educational Foundation.
Paul A. Roberts
Former Tiffin resident
Paul A. Roberts, 83, of Denver, Colo., died Thursday, April 26, 2001.
He was born April 11, 1918, in Covington, Ky., to William H. and Katherine (Lonnemann) Roberts. They are deceased. On Aug. 1, 1946, in Tiffin, he married
Cesarina Barasa, at St. Joseph's Rectory. She survives in Denver.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Dallas (Olivia Ann) Reynolds of Durango, Colo., brothers, Calvin "Babe" Roberts of Jacobsburg, and Donald Roberts of Tiffin; sisters, Mrs. James (M. Virginia) Mendlein of Massillon, Mrs. Harry (Jane) Miller of Tiffin; and two grandchildren.
Deceased include: four brothers, Jack and James Roberts of Tiffin; Charles Roberts of Durango, Colo., and an infant brother, Alvin Roberts.
Mr. Roberts graduated from Calvert High School in 1936. He served in the Army during WWII.
There was a private cremation and no services were held.
