Former Republic residents' daughter
Summer Kimmet, 16, of Perryville, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, in an automobile accident near Amma, Ill. She was born July 7, 1984, to Chip D. and Sarah J. (Kelly) Kimmet, Sr. Both parents survive.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Chris and Chip Kimmet Jr. of Perryville; two sisters, Desiree and Kellie of Perryville; maternal grandfather, Carl Kelly of Florida; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kimmet of Republic.
The Rev. John Chamness officiated the funeral at the Miller Family Funeral Home Feb. 25.
Donald V. Norman
Clyde resident
Donald V. Norman, 70, of Sandusky CR 224, Clyde, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Fremont.
He was born May 23, 1930, to Roy and Marie (Miller) Norman.
Surviving is an aunt, Mrs. Martha Munn of Maumee; and cousins.
Mr. Norman received his education from the Lyme School and Clyde High School and lived and farmed in the area for most of his life.
The Rev. Garry Gosnell will officiate the 11 a.m. Monday graveside service at Bellevue cemetery.
Visitation hours will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Nellie M. Culichia
Homemaker
Nellie M. Culichia, 96, of 182 St. Francis Ave. and formerly of 270 Hudson St where she resided from 1930 until she entered St. Francis Home, died at 1:10 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2001, in the St. Francis Home.
She was born June 23, 1904, in St. Agatha (Province of Messina), Sicily, to Charles and Antonia (Nicopoli) Santoro. She married
Jake Culichia on June 6, 1924, in St. Mary Church. He died Feb. 7, 1985. Two brothers and a sister are deceased.
Survivors include: two sons, Peter of Powell and Charles of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Joanna) Buckley and Mrs. James (Antoinette) Schostek both of Tiffin; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Culichia came to this country in 1906 as an infant and lived in Bellevue and Gibsonburg (where she attended school) until moving to Tiffin in 1920. She was a homemaker; an employee of Tiffin Micro Recorder for 10 years; member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society and a charter and 25-year active volunteer member of the Red Cross as a Gray Lady Volunteer at Mercy Hospital, Tiffin.
Rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Monday followed by the funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Keith Stripe officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.
Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m. Monday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to St. Francis Home Chapel.
Howard B. Heilman
Basic, Inc. retiree
Howard B. Heilman, 98, formerly of Old Fort, died at 3:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2001, at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was a life-time resident of Seneca County. Before entering Bethesa he was at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont for one and one-half years.
On June 12, 1928, he married
Lois Doolittle in Mansfield. She died Jan. 10, 1976.
Survivors include: two sons, Clarence "Bill" of Old Fort and James H. of Niceville, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Betty J.) Bryon of Old Fort; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Carlton of Tiffin and Alvin of Fremont; and two sisters, Mrs. James (Mary) Bly of Wellsville, N.Y. and Mrs. Ed (Anna Jo) Schekelhoff of Tiffin.
Also deceased are: a son, Jack, in infancy; an infant great-granddaughter; a brother, Norman; and a sister, Esther Riehm.
Mr. Heilman was a graduate of Old Fort High School; retired from Basic, Incorporated; member of Old Fort United Methodist Church, Basic Quarter Century Club, and life member of the Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs with burial in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Betty A. Gillfillan
Retired waitress
Betty A. Gillfillan, 77, formerly of Northview Drive, Fostoria, died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the Fox Run Manor, Findlay, where she was a resident.
She was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Rudolph, Ohio, to Ray McKinley and Mary V. (Coldren) Laws. In 1979, in Jellico, Tenn, she married
Herb Gillfillan. He died Nov. 7, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Irvin Laney of Seattle, Wash.; three step- sons, Dennis Gillfillan of Forest, Gary Gillfillan of Kenton and Rick Gillfillan, also of Forest; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Helen) Thompson of Wooster and Mrs. Shane (Beverly) Wagener of Perrysburg; two stepdaughters, Marlene Gillfillan of Grant, Ohio and Mrs. Greg (Lisa) Ananice of Dunkirk; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and eight stepgrandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Edsel Laney; and a sister, Margaret Bankey.
Mrs. Gillfillan had been employed as a waitress at the Dark Horse and Airport Cafe, both of Findlay and the Fostoria Elks Club.
She was a member of the Forest VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Fostoria Eagles Auxiliary and a life member of the Fostoria Elks Club.
The Rev. Jeremy Gillfillan will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilda Bates Carter
Former first grade teacher
Wilda Bates Carter, 88, died early Sunday morning, March 4, 2001, at her home at 525 Summit St., Fostoria, following a two and a half year illness with cancer.
She was born Oct. 24, 1912, in Risingsun, the oldest child of William E. and Tessie (Walters) Bates. Her husband, Dr.James W. Carter, whom she married
July 3, 1938, survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Jill Knuth of Stanford, Calif. and Diana Baxter of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren and four great-grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Jess (Frances) Cunningham of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and a brother, Robert Bates of Raleigh, N.C.
Two brothers, Don and Mac Bates, are deceased.
Mrs. Carter spent her childhood in Carey and in 1926 the family moved to Fostoria, where she graduated in 1930 from Fostoria High School.
She earned her teaching certificate from Bowling Green State University and taught first grade at Crocker Street School in Fostoria until her marriage.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church, served on many committees and held offices ranging from district president of the Epworth League to district president of the W.S.C.S.
For 10 years she led a group that completed a study of the entire Bible and recently donated to Wesley United Methodist Church a collection of banners she designed and made.
She also taught English to several refugee families sponsored by the church and was involved in religious education programs in the public schools.
She and her husband built a passive solar house and she collected designer furniture and enjoyed needlework.
The Carters also enjoyed traveling and made many cross-country trips by car with her special interest visiting the homes of U.S. presidents. They also traveled to Canada, Mexico, Europe and Japan.
A service celebrating Mrs. Carter's life will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday in Wesley United Methodist Church, 900 Van Buren St., Fostoria, followed by a reception.
There will be no visitation. The Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Rose Ann Reinhart

Rose Ann Reinhart, 94, formerly of 9128 W. Seneca CR 6, Carey, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday,March 6, 2001, in the Ruffing Family Care Center of Tiffin, where she resided.
She was born Nov. 27, 1906, in New Riegel, to John and Matilda (Hammer) Tiell. On Jan. 25, 1927, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, she married
Alvin W. Reinhart. He died June 13, 1968.
Survivors include: seven sons, Harold Reinhart of Alvada, Francis Reinhart of Tiffin, Earl Reinhart of Berlin Center, Maurice Reinhart of Carey, Alvin Reinhart Jr. of Kansas, Silverius Reinhart of New Riegel and Ralph Reinhart of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. John (Joan) Meyer of Findlay, Mildred Biller of Bloomville and Mrs. Henry (Helen) Reineck of Gibsonburg; 42 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Henry Tiell of Findlay,
Also deceased are five grandchildren; six brothers, Phillip, George, Frank, Albert, Charles and David Tiell; and two sisters, Mary Ann Welly and Susann Tiell.
Mrs. Reinhart, a homemaker, also worked at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin as a baker.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown, its Rosary Altar Society and the New Riegel Senior Citizens.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with the Rev. Conrad Sutter as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Thursday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be at 2 p.m.

Willard John Kerlin

Willard John Kerlin, 67, of Limerick Road, Clyde, died Monday, March 5, 2001, in Fireland Hospital, Sandusky.
He was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Old Fort, to Willard John Dallas Kerlin and Rena Marie (Smyser) Durst. His mother survives in Clyde. On Aug. 29, 1953, he married
Inez Rosecella Brose, who survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, John William, Donald Joseph, and Paul Eugene Kerlin, all of Clyde and Kenneth Joseph Kerlin of Tiffin; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Kerlin of Fremont; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Joanne) Chapman of Clyde; two step sisters, Mrs. Ed (Betty) Shaw of Clyde and Mrs. Roger (Donna) Dick of Fremont; a step brother, William Durst of Columbus; and his step mother, Helen Kerlin of Old Fort.
A grandson; and his step father William Durst, are deceased.
Mr. Kerlin, a graduate of Old Fort High School, retired Sept. 1, 1993 as an overhead crane operator from Whirlpool Corp.-Clyde Division, where he had worked since Aug. 4, 1955.
A Korean Conflict U.S. Army veteran, having served 1950-53, he was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde, where he served as a Eucharist minister.
He also was a life member of VFW Post 3343, Clyde.
The Rev. Jeff Nordhaus will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside services will be provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Endowment, Sandusky County Hospice. or the Alzheimer's Association.
Bearl J. Perry
Retired welder
Bearl J. Perry, 78, 4153 S. SR 100, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2001, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born June 25, 1922, in Wise County, Va., to Noah and Millie (Holtsclaw) Perry and raised by his father and stepmother, Alpha Perry. His wife, Germaine A. (Scherger) Perry, whom he married
Oct. 27, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, survives.
Survivors also include: six sons, Douglas Perry of Toledo, James, Mark, Roger, Jeffrey and Anthony Perry, all of Tiffin; seven daughters, Mrs. James (Diane) Alley and Cheryl Caldwell, both of Tiffin, Mrs. Robert (Connie) Check of Litchfield, Mrs. Geoff (Mildred) Davenport of South Riding, Va., Mrs. Douglas (Linda) Kuhn of Tiffin, Mrs. James (Ellen) Beckley of Dryden, Mich. and Mrs. Stephen (Karen) Welter, also of Tiffin; a brother, Luke Perry of Bloomville; two sisters, Mrs. Art (Clara) Minzer of Tiffin and Mrs. Dee Jay (Dolores) Messersmith of Anna.; and 48 grandchildren.
Also deceased are a son, Michael J. Perry; and a twin sister, Pearl Perry.
Mr. Perry retired as a welder from Pettibone-Hanson Co. and had previously worked at Webster Mfg. Co.
A World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion, both of Tiffin.
An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
The Rev. Herman Scherger, Mr. Perry's brother-in-law, will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. Friday funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:45 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside rites will be performed by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will take place at 2:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Calvert Tuition Assistance Fund, St. Joseph School Tuition Assistance Fund or the church.
Shirley Clark

Shirley Clark, 51, of Fostoria, died at 3:37 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. Arrangements are pending at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Donna J. (Wank) Rothenberger
Tiffin native
Donna Jeanne (Wank) Rothenberger, 53, of 7304 Shadow Wood Drive, Indianapolis, Ind., died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the Indiana University Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 27, 1947, in Tiffin to Paul H. and Ruth M. (Koerper) Wank. Her mother survives. Her husband, Donald Kim Rothenberger, survives in Indianapolis.
Other survivors include: two stepsons, Ryan R. and Joseph B. Rothenberger; two step-grandsons; two sisters, Elaine Wank Burton and Dianne R. Mershman; a brother, Ronald P. Wank; three nieces and two nephews.
Her father is deceased.
Mrs. Rothenberger, a graduate of Calvert High School, also graduated in 1970 from the University of Dayton with a bachelor's degree in education and an MBA from IUPUR in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She had been employed as a customer service manager for GTE for 14 years and a spin off company, Osram-Sylvania, for 10 years. She also taught junior and senior high school for five years at Des Plaines in Chicago, Jackson, Mich. and Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne.
The service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Monica Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Koetter officiating. Burial will be in Washington Park North, Indianapolis.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday in the Lepper and Hensley Mortuary, 740 E, 86th St., Indianapolis.
