Linda Diane McHaffie

Linda Diane McHaffie, 53, died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at her home at 110 Lincoln St., Bloomdale.
She was born Aug. 27, 1947, in Fostoria, to Claris "Whitey" and Cleopha "Corky" Rosier. They survive in Fostoria. On Aug. 24, 1974, in the High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria, she married
Alvin E. "Red" McHaffie. He survives in Bloomdale.
Other survivors include: a son, Scott A. McHaffie of Bloomdale; a stepson, Scott E. McHaffie of Mt. Cory; and a brother, Larry W. Rosier of Fostoria.
Mrs. McHaffie, a 1965 graduate of Fostoria High School, where she played in the band, retired in July 1999 after 25 years as an assembler at the Allied Signal (now Honeywell) in Fostoria.
She was a member of the Foxy Four Square Dance Club and volunteered for BCIA, both of Bloomdale.
The Rev. Dwight Norris will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Weaver cemetery, Bloom Township.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Dan Welch
Long-time Tiffin resident
Mary Dan Welch, 77, 35 Linda Lane, died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Lexington, Ky., to Joseph B. and Anna (O'Day) Lynch. Her husband, Delbert L. Welch, whom she married
May 22, 1945, in Lexington, died June 24, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Charles E. Welch of Easton, Conn.; three daughters, Mrs. Max (Catherine) Bonnefil of Bel Air, Md., Mrs. Tom (Mary Pat) Moore of Toledo and Mrs. Dennis (Joan) Kummerer of Centerville; nieces and nephews in Kentucky; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A brother, Joseph B. Lynch Jr., also is deceased.
Mrs. Welch, a homemaker, received her education in St. Catherine Academy, Lexington, and the Business School of St. Catherine Academy.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society and served as a volunteer for more than 30 years in St. Joseph Elementary School Library.
A funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard Dunn and the Rev. Tim Kummerer as con-celebrants. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Visitation will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph School Library or a charity of the donor's choice.

Ethel L. Below, 76, 2507 E. CR 50, was dead on arrival at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
She was born March 9, 1924, in Sulphur Springs, Ohio, to Fred W. and Mamie (Enders) Laux. On Oct. 28, 1944,in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Tiffin, she married
Willard Below. He survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Tim D. Below of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Pamela S.) Perkins of Tiffin; a brother, Amos Laux of California; a sister, Doris Swander of Tiffin; and three grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Delbert and Raymond Laux; and three sisters, Isabelle Marquart, Mary Laux and Evelyn Raywood.
Mrs. Below, a 1942 graduate of Republic High School, retired in 1984 after 14 years of employment in the food/lunch counter section of Kmart and Kresge Department Stores in Tiffin.
The Rev. Al Wilkes will conduct the 10 a.m. Saturday service in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Alzheimer's Foundation.
Rosemond B. DeMott
Retired Attica English teacher
Rosemond B. DeMott, 89, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in the Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney, where she resided.
She was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Attica, to Gilbert L. and Effa M. (Bemenderfer) Showalter. On Sept. 2, 1936, she married
Clyde W. DeMott. he survives.
Mrs. DeMott retired in 1970 as an English teacher and high school librarian at Attica High School, where she had been employed for 27 years.
She was a member of Universal Unitarian Church at Large, Boston, Mass., Sappho Chapter Order Eastern Star 58 and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Willard.
She graduated from Tufts University, Medford, Mass., and did her graduate work at Kent State University.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Attica-Venice cemetery, Attica, with Dr. Fred B. Lacueata officiating.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today in the Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney.
Memorials may be made to the Dorothy Love Life Care Fund.
Donald J. Sample
National Lime/Stone retiree
Donald J. Sample, 71, of Carey, died at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born April 11, 1929, in Carey, to the late Francis and Imogene (Buckingham) Sample.
Survivors include: an uncle, Earl Buckingham of Carey and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Norman "Bud" Sample; and a sister, Elizabeth "Babe" Lanker.
Mr. Sample retired in 1992 after 43 years of service from the National Lime and Stone Co. in Carey.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Paul Goetz officiating. Interment will be in Zion Bloom cemetery, Vanlue.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Corinne E. Meisner
Tiffin homemaker/centenarian
Corinne E. Meisner, 100, died at 1:27 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, in St. Francis Home, where she had resided since 1992.
She was born Nov. 14, 1900, in Tiffin, to Louis E. and Caroline (Hollinger) Perry. Her first husband, Victor Hopple, died in 1936. She later married
Harold Meisner in 1938. He died May 1, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Norma Jeanne) Focht of Cape Coral, Fla., and Mrs. Marion (Maxine) Hossler of Tiffin; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A brother also is deceased.
Mrs. Meisner, a homemaker and life-long Tiffin area resident, also worked as an office manager at the former LaSalle's in Tiffin.
A graduate of Columbian High School, she attended Tiffin University and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and St. Paul's Daughters, which she had served as president.
A memorial service was at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Private burial at Greenlawn cemetery.
