Leonard H. Powell
Retired farmer/carpenter
Leonard H. Powell, 75, of 9530 E. SR 162, Republic, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
He was born April 19, 1924, in Scipio Township, Seneca County, to Howard B. and Irma (Miller) Powell. On Sept. 8, 1946, in McCutchenville, he married
Geneivee Jean Yambert, who survives.
Other survivors include: a son, David H. Powell of Republic; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Sharon) Nedolast of Tiffin; a brother, Eldon E. Powell of Clyde; four sisters, Mrs. Dale (Jean) Shambaugh of Huntington, Md., Mrs. Clarlyle (Dorothy) Beal of Gaylord, Mich., Mrs. Alvin (Helen) Schubert and Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Norcross, both of Republic; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Powell started farming in 1942 and retired in 1993. He also worked as a carpenter doing woodworking and making toys and crafts as a hobby.
He was a member of Republic United Church of Christ, Hildreth Lodge 165 Free and Accepted Masons of Republic, where he served as past master; Cornelia Chapter 93 Order Eastern Star, where he served as past patron; Tiffin Shrine Club, Zenobia Shrine Club of Toledo, Scottish Rite of Toledo and the Tiffin Hornets, where he was a past director.
A 1942 graduate of Scipio-Republic High School, he was active in basketball, baseball and FFA.
He also was a charter member and past president of the Scipio-Republic Historical Society; a member of the Seneca County Antique Machinery Society, the New Life Club where he was a charter member; Scipio-Republic School board, where he served as a board member and past president; past master of Republic Grange and Pomona Grange and past president and secretary of the Republic Lions Club.
Mr. Powell founded the log cabin that is now located in the Republic town park on SR 162.
The Rev. Jeff King will conduct the 11 a.m. Tuesday service in the Republic United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Farewell Retreat cemetery, Republic.
Visitation is 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, where Masonic services will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Jeremiah Neikirk
Retired race horse trainer
Jeremiah Neikirk, 94, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, where he resided.
He was born May 12, 1906, in Republic, to Lester and Laura (Cole) Neikirk. In June 1932, in Monroe, Mich., he married
Helen Lucille Brendle, who preceded him in death March 17, 1985.
Survivors include: a son, William L. Neikirk of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Donna J. Reiter-Best of Oregon, Ohio; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a great-grandchild; two brothers, Ray and Dale Neikirk; and two sisters, Ruth Neikirk and Goldie Ballreich.
Mr. Neikirk, a former Seneca County farmer, also was a self-employed race horse trainer, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the National Trotters Association.
The service will be at 11 am. Saturday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jeffrey L. 'Chip' Wagner
Tiffin resident
Jeffrey L. "Chip" Wagner, 43, 202 Miami St., died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at his residence.
He was born July 1, 1957, in Tiffin, to Robert and Naomi (Rogier) Wagner. His mother survives in Tiffin. His wife, Linda (Myers) Wagner, whom he married
April 17, 1997, in Tiffin, survives.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Henry R. and Robert J. Wagner, both of Tiffin.
His father is deceased.
A Columbian High School graduate, Mr. Wagner was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
The Rev. Keith Stripe will be the celebrant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Word has been received of the death of Jerome "Cobb" Sutton of East Detroit, Mich., who died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001.

Word has been received of the death of William L. "Clink" Elements, who died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2000, in Garner, N.C.
Pearl Regina Martin
Retired nurse/homemaker
Pearl Regina Martin, 107, died at 10:35 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Elmwood at the Shawhan.
She was born Sept. 27, 1983, in Sterling, Colo., to Jacob M. and Mary Alice (Sewards) Hunker. On Nov. 3, 1945, in the parsonage of St. John's Church, she married
Ross W. Martin, who died in 1965.
Surviving are a niece and caretaker, Willa Melick of Tiffin; and two nephews, Cletus Melick of Tiffin and Gene Atha of Fairborn; a sister, Viola Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and many other nieces, nephews.
Three brothers and three sisters, also are deceased.
Mrs. Martin, a homemaker, and retired nurse, had worked for 35 years at the Daughters of America Home.
A 1912 graduate of Atwood County High School., she also had practical nurses training.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and its Friendship Circle; the Daughters of America, Royal Neighbors, Seneca Toastmasters and Daughters of Veterans.
The Rev. David M. Culp will be the officiant at the 1:30 p.m. Thursday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation will be noon until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Michael R. St. John
Kelsey-Hayes Kingsway retiree
Michael R. St. John, 60, of CR 174, Fremont, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
He was born Oct. 16, 1940, in Toledo, to William and Virginia (Kanaman) St. John. His father and stepmother, Carolyn St. John, survive in Oregon, Ohio. His wife, Shirley (Lorenz) St. John, whom he married
July 11, 1966, survives.
Other survivors include: four children, Mrs. Brian (Norma Jean) Seegert of Lakeside-Marblehead, Richard St. John of Fremont and Cynthia Winthrow and Michael St. John Jr., both of Cincinnati;
two brothers, Daniel St. John of Cleveland and Timothy St. John of Clyde; a sister, Mrs. Larry (Cynthia) Frandel of Troy, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
Also deceased are a grandchild; and his mother.
Mr. St. John, a graduate of Toledo Scott High School, retired in 1987 from Kelsey-Hayes Kingsway.
A U.S. Army veteran, having served eight years, he was resident of Fremont for five years and resided in Clyde for many years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. Steve Messlinger officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde, where military graveside services will be provided by the Clyde American Legion and VFW.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or the family.
Ebonee Janea' Williams
7-week old daughter
Ebonee Janea' Williams, 7 week old daughter of Tameka S. Williams of 154 Taft Blvd, Fostoria and William Rodgers of Toledo, died at 3:09 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 6, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
Surviving include her father and mother; maternal grandparents, Earline Williams and Bryan Manley, both of Fostoria; maternal great-grandmother, Marie Willliams of Marion; paternal grandparents, Donna Rodgers of Toledo and William E. Smith of California; a brother, Keonte Porter and a sister, Natozsha Rodgers, both of Fostoria; four half brothers and two half sisters; aunts, uncles and cousins.
The service will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with burial following in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Traci Leigh McClay

Former Delta, Ohio resident, Traci Leigh McClay, 30, of Mifflinburg, Pa., died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, in Brigantine, N.J.
She was born Jan. 31, 1970, in Toledo, Lucas County, to Susan Diane Champion Michaels of Tecumseh, Mich. and Donald Leo Wielinski, who died in March 1985. On Jan. 6, 1995, in Wauseon, she married
David Christian McClay, who survives.
Survivors also include her step father, Owen Anthony Michels of Tecumseh; two daughters, Karleigh Amber Brooks and Maranida Sue McClay, both of Mifflinburg; and a brother, Trevor Lee Wielinski of White House, Ohio.
Mrs. McClay, a 1988 graduate of Pike Delta York High School, Delta, Ohio, was associated with her husband in the operation of the Christian Plumbing, Mifflinburg.
She was a member of the Mifflinburg Bowling League and the Ohio American Legion.
A Christian Wake service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday from St. George's Church, Mifflinburg. The Rev. Patrick J. Shannon O.S.F.S., associate pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Casper's cemetery, Wauseon.

Harold D. 'Jack' Gee

Harold D. "Jack" Gee, 85, of SR 12, Fostoria, died at 4:38 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in the Independence House, Fostoria.
He was born June 19, 1915, in Kansas, Ohio, to Clyde and Mildred (Yoder) Gee. His wife, Elizabeth "Bess" (Goodale) Gee, whom he married
July 11, 1939, in Bidwell, Ohio, died Aug. 23, 1999.
Survivors include: a daughter, Penny K. Shane of Fostoria; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a nephew and niece.
A brother, Robert Gee, also is deceased.
Mr. Gee, a 1934 graduate of Jackson Burgoon High School, retired as an inspector in 1973 from the Union Carbide Co. in Fostoria, after 30 years of employment.
He was a member of Kansas United Methodist Church and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Fostoria.
A World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran, he also was a member of the Fostoria United Sportsman's Club, Genealogical Society of Ohio-Seneca County Chapter, Fostoria VFW and American Legion and the First Families of Ohio.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Russell Gumm and the Rev. Robert Chew, co-officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice of Hancock County or the American Cancer Society.
Wilbur E. Sand
Father of Tiffin resident
Wilbur E. Sand, 78, died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his home at 6171 Windfall Road, Galion, following an illness of two and a half months.
He was born Dec. 8, 1922, in Crawford County, to the late Milton and Garnet (Smith) Sand. His wife, Mary Louise (Hanlon) Sand, whom he married
Jan. 20, 1946, died June 24, 1996.
Survivors include: four sons, Lloyd of Tiffin, Bruce of Bucyrus and William and Kenneth, both of Galion; four brothers, Richard and Robert of Bucyrus, Glen of Marion and Earl of Missouri; three sisters, Marjorie Rogers of Bucyrus, Marguerite Feichtner of New Washington and Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Tippin of Michigan; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, John Sand; and a sister, Karen Bruce.
An avid fisherman, Mr. Sand had been employed as a welder for 45 years at the former Peabody Galion.
At Mr. Sand's request there will be no service or visitation.

James Carson Biller
Former Sycamore resident
Word has been received of the death of James Carson Biller, 92, of 5588 Main St., Mount Jackson, Va., who died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 17, 1908, in Rockingham County, to Benjamin Franklin and Minnie (Estep) Biller. On June 20, 1934, he married
Louise Elizabeth Dreitzler. She died Feb. 4, 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Frye of Newport, N.C.; a son, Dr. John C. Biller of Charlottesville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A son, James E. Biller, preceded him in death.
The last of 13 children, Mr. Biller was a retired businessman.
He was a long-standing member of Grace United Church of Christ, west of Mount Jackson; a 32nd Degree Mason (Ohio), past president of the Lions Club in Sycamore, Ohio; and past president of the Sycamore School Board.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Morning Star Lutheran Church cemetery, Mount Jackson, with the Rev. Robert Royal officiating.
Visitation is 7-8 p.m. today at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Mount Jackson., Va.
