Danielle Marie Vaughn
Hopewell-Loudon 8th grade student
Danielle Marie Vaughn, 14, of 5772 W. Oak St., Bascom, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, in Mott Children's Hospital, of the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Mich., while undergoing surgery.
She was born Oct. 20, 1986, in Tiffin, to Jerry and Carol (Kuhn) Vaughn, who survive in Bascom.
Other survivors include: her maternal grandmother, Martha Kuhn of New Riegel; paternal grandparents, Richard and Patricia Vaughn, also of New Riegel; three siblings, Julie, Lindsay and David Vaughn, all at home; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Her maternal grandfather, Charles Kuhn, is deceased.
Danielle, an 8th grade student at Hopewell-Loudon School, was active in the Bascom Buckeyes 4-H Club and a student of Dance Unlimited in Tiffin.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Bascom.
An animal lover, especially her dog "Lou," she also collected Pooh Bears as a hobby.
The Rev. Art Niewiadomski will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Saturday funeral Mass in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in St. Boniface cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Friday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will take place at 8:30 p.m.

Thomas Edward Downey
Former Tiffin resident
Thomas Edward Downey, 60, of 2415 Roosevelt St., Hollywood, Fla., formerly of Tiffin, died at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 20, 1940, in Tiffin, to the late Thomas Baker and Helen A. (Dreitzler) Downey. His wife, Susan (Johnson) Downey, survives.
Survivors also include: two step-sons, Matthew and Nickolas; a sister, Virginia Tahboub of Charlottesville, Va.; and a niece and nephew.
Also preceding him in death was his grandfather, John Dreitzler, who was a former mayor of Tiffin.
A 1958 graduate of Columbian High School and a 1961 graduate of Tiffin University, Mr. Downey retired from Newberrys and the Brown Shoe Group. He had been involved in the opening of 250 new stores.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Culp officiating.
Visitation will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday until time of the service at the funeral home.

Hazel Mae Bock
Tiffin native
Hazel Mae Bock, 85, a long-time resident of Akron, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000
She was born in Tiffin. Her husband, Richard, died in 1972.
Surviving are two sons, James of Venice, Fla. and Richard of Glen Burnie, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. Max (Judith) Fightmaster of Doylestown, Ohio and Mrs. Thomas (Katherine) Carr of Diamond, Ohio; a sister, Martha Jane Zeller of Willoughby, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
Mrs. Bock, who retired from the Summit County Auditor's Office, was a member of Sts. Paul, Matthew, Vincent and Holy Family Catholic Churches at various times.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Vincent Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St., Akron. Inturnment will follow in Holy Cross cemetery.
Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the Mass Saturday at the church. The Billow Fairlawn Chapel, Akron, is in charge of arrangements.

Burl L. Dunn
Retired Bloom Township farmer
Burl L. Dunn, 95, of 28 Clinton St., Bloomville, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 6, 2000, in the Ruffing Family Care Center of Bloomville.
He was born June 17, 1905, in Loudon Township, Seneca County, to Charles and Irma (Shaferly) Dunn. On Aug. 15, 1928, in Bloomville, he married
Barbara (Luella) Meyers, who preceded him in death in 1996.
Surviving are a son, Philip Dunn of Bloomville; four daughters, Mrs. James (Charlotte) Maloy of Sycamore, Esther Beard of Tiffin, Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Levans of Bloomville and Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Dolch of Bucyrus; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Paul; a brother, Norman; and a sister, Mandy Harper.
Mr. Dunn, an avid fisherman and wild game hunter including deer, moose, elk and bear, retired in 1975 after many years of farming.
He was a member of St. John's Baseline United Church of Christ, rural Bloomville; the Seneca County Farm Bureau, Bloomville Senior Citizens, NCHA Campers and the National Rifle Association. He was a former 6th degree member of the Bloom Community Grange.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Daniel Ward and the Rev. Diane Grohmann co-officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John Harper Jones
Former Clyde Whirlpool employee
John Harper Jones, 37, of Fremont, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Columbus.
He was born June 14, 1963, in Lambert, Miss., to Jeremiah and Mary (Williams) Jones. His mother survives in Fremont. His wife, Donna Jones, also survives in Columbus.
Other survivors include: a son, Johnny Molina of Gibsonburg; seven brothers, Jerry Jr., Larry Wayne and Charles Jones, all of Fremont, Johnnie Lee, Eddie and Archie Jones, all of Lexington, Ky. and McKinley Jones of Fostoria; and nine sisters, Mae Bowers, Curlee Cooks, Louise Lather, Liz Cooks, Diane Heard, Loretta Johnson and Jackie Jones, all of Fremont, Jacqueline Gross and Valerie Pride, both of Lambert, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Sammy Jones.
Mr. Jones, who attended Ross High School, Fremont, was formerly employed at Whirlpool Corp., Clyde Division.
Pastor Herman Norwood will conduct the 10 a.m. Friday service in the Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday until time of the service at the funeral home.
Prudence "Prudy" Rodgers
Seneca County Deputy Auditor
Prudence "Prudy" Rodgers, 59, of 142 West Crestview Lane, Tiffin, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at her home. She was born June 3, 1941 in Tiffin to Mel Hoerig, who survives in Bradenton, FL., and Viola Baugher, who survives in Tiffin. She married
Thomas Rodgers, they later divorced.
Also surviving include: a daughter, Mrs. Tami Zellner of Livonia, Mich.; two sisters, Phyllis Adelsperger, and Mrs. Patricia Rathburn, both of Tiffin; a brother, Mark Hoerig of Tiffin; and two grandchildren, Chase and Kylie Zellner.
Ms. Rodgers was a Columbian High School graduate, she worked as the Seneca County Deputy Auditor and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The Rev. James K. Say will officiate the 11 a.m. Monday funeral service at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Monday.

Savilla C. Ballreich
Port Clinton resident
Savilla C. Ballreich, 87, of Port Clinton, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at Arbors of Clyde. She was born Jan. 27, 1913 to Charles and Margaret (Mathias) Landoll. She married
Charles G. Ballreich on April 19, 1934, he died Sept. 27, 1966.
Surviving include: twin sons, Harold E. and Charles N. Ballreich, both of Port Clinton; three daughters, Carolyn A. Nesselhauf of Fremont, Virginia M. LaFollette of McCormick, S.C., and Darlene M. Black of Shelby Twp., Mich.; a sister, Marie Lonsway of Fostoria; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Roseanne B. Ballreich; a sister, Marcella Colby; three brothers, Edward, Harold and Paul Landoll; and a grandson.
Mrs. Ballreich was a waitress at the Island House in Port Clinton for many years and also worked at Travelers Restaurant, Port Clinton. She retired in 1983 from H.B. Magruder Hospital, where she worked in dietary services. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, Women of the Moose, Port Clinton Lodge, Port Clinton Senior Citizens, Ohio Chapter of The United Grandmothers chapter of the United States of America, Port Clinton Mother of Twins, and AARP.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Burial will be at Riverview cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., tonight, at Neidecker-LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. A Women of the Moose prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m., tonight, and a church prayer service at 8:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Teresa Hoyer
Fostoria resident
Teresa Hoyer, 36, of East Center St., Fostoria, died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at Fostoria Community Hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1964 in Fostoria to Bruno and Herminia (Martinez) Guerra, Sr., both preceded her in death. On Oct. 14, 1995 she married
Robert "Kent" Hoyer, and he survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Alexjandro and Javier Hoyer of Fostoria; a brother, Bruno Guerra, Jr., of Garland, Tex.; two sisters, Lupe Zapien of Findlay and Virginia Guerra of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by: a brother, Ricardo Guerra and a sister, Juanita Sanchez.
Mrs. Hoyer was a Class of 1982 graduate of Fostoria High School. She worked as a sales clerk for Ames Department Store in Findlay.
The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Cora L. Swinehart
Upper Sandusky homemaker
Cora L. Swinehart, 90, formerly of 212 N. 4th St., Upper Sandusky, recently a resident of Wyandot County Nursing Home, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000. She was born April 16, 1910 to Jacob and Alma (Swinehart) Bolyard. On Nov. 28, 1929 she married
Dale Swinehart, he died in 1968.
Surviving are: two sons, Eugene and Thomas Swinehart, both of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Carr of Upper Sandusky; a sister, Marguerite James of Calif.; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Mrs. Swinehart was a homemaker and a seamstress for private individuals. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ since 1958, where she was a member of the Women Guild of the church; and member of Wyandot County Extension Group. She also enjoyed flowers and laughter.
The Pastor Charles Preston will officiate the 11 a.m. Saturday funeral service at the Bringman Clark & Company Funeral Home. Burial will be at Nevada cemetery, Nevada.
Visitations hours are from 6-8 p.m., tonight at the funeral home.

Harriette Frances "Fran" Martel

Harriette Frances "Fran" Martel, 52, of 39 Main St., Tiffin died at 12, noon Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000 in Westville, Ind. She was born Oct. 3, 1948 to Wilbur and Harriett (Bushong) Magers, Mrs. Magers survives in Tiffin. Her first marriage was to Richard Rumschlag, he survives in Fostoria, her second marriage was to Richard Martel, and he survives.
Other survivors include: a son, David Andrew Rumschlag of Tiffin; two daughters, Juliette Rose King of Fla., and Mrs. Amy Conley of Tiffin; three brothers, Wilbur F. Magers, Jr. Joseph E. Magers, both of Tiffin, and Thomas H. Magers of Fostoria; eight sisters, Claire Helena Kaiser, Mrs. Margaret Gorczyca, Mrs. Martha Hade, Mrs. Laura Bogard and Sarah L. Magers, all of Tiffin, Anna E. Maxson of Carrabelle, Fla., Mary C. Roelle and Mrs. Jennifer Hetzel, both of Fostoria; and nine grandchildren.
Shen was preceded in death by: a son, Richard Allen Rumschlag; and a sister, Christina Marie Magers.
Mrs. Martel was a Hopewell-Loudon High School graduate, she also attended Tiffin University and Terra Tech. She worked as a truck driver for Spaders Trucking Company in Clyde and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
The Rev. Frank Murd will officiate the 9:30 a.m. Monday Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 6-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at the church at 9:15 a.m. Monday.

James E. Thomas II
Retired electrician
James E. Thomas II, 47, of 7947 W. CR 38, Fostoria, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Thomas was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Tiffin to James and Carol (King) Thomas. He married
Barbara J. Cook Feb. 24, 1973, in Bascom and she survives.
Other survivors include: his father who resides in Washington; a son, James E. Thomas III of Fostoria; two daughters, Jaime N. Thomas of Bascom and Mrs. Bill (Heather L.) Deuble of Fostoria; five grandchildren; a brother, John of Tiffin; and a sister, Becky of Scranton, Pa.
His mother and a sister, Kathy, are deceased.
He was a Hopewell-Loudon High School graduate; served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era; obtained associate electronics and robotics degrees from Terra Tech; retired electrician at the Fostoria Atlas Crankshaft and was serving his apprenticeship for a journeymen's card.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sandridge cemetery, Bascom, with the Rev. Allen Minton officiating and military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.
There will be no visitation.

Sheila Ann Walliser

Sheila Ann Walliser, 58, of 369 N. Sandusky St., died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in her home.
She was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Cuyahoga County to Carl E. and Lucille B. (Poignon) Hade. She married
Louis P. Walliser Feb. 11, 1961, in Tiffin and he survives.
Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Lisa J.) Hossford of Texas, Mrs. Richard (Beth A.) Traxler and Dawn M. Walliser, both of Tiffin; and six grandchildren.
Her parents; a son, Guy H. Walliser; and a grandchild are deceased.
She was a 1960 Calvert High School graduate; a homemaker; and a member of V.F.W., life member of AmVets, and the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home where a wake will be conducted at 8:45 p.m.
