Albert F. 'Al' Hammer
Review Times retiree
Albert F. "Al" Hammer, 72, of Fostoria died at 6:34 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Fostoria to Frank S. and Mary (Host) Hammer. He married
Mildred M. Hull on Jan. 15, 1949, in St. Wendelin's Church, Fostoria, and she survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, David L. of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. John (Cynthia) Broaddus of Downingtown, Pa., and Mrs. Gary J. (Barbara) Reinhart of Fostoria; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, Ralph and Alvin of Fostoria and Melvin of Fremont; and two sisters, Alice Hark and Mrs. Harold (Mary) Adelsperger, both of Fostoria.
He retired in 1991 as a pressman from the Review Times after 43 years and was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria Eagles, Fostoria American Legion, and Knights of Columbus Council 1197, Fostoria Third Degree.
Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with burial in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Xenith M. Smith
Former Bettsville resident
Xenith M. Smith, 96, formerly of Bettsville, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in St. Ann's Hospital of Westerville.
She was born Feb. 25, 1904, in Fort Seneca to Ora G. and Meade (Nighswander) Hade. She married
Herman M. Smith in Bettsville and he died March 28, 1978.
Survivors include: a son, Ned E. Smith of New Albany; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Hade of Fremont.
Two brothers, Russell and Leland Hade, are deceased.
She was a homemaker, worked at the former General Electric, and was a member of GEWOTS and Salem United Methodist Church of Bettsville.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Mac Geissinger officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Bettsville Library.
Forrest O. Zellner Jr.
Sycamore farmer
Forrest O. Zellner Jr., 68, of 837 E. TR 40, Sycamore, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born to Forrest O. and Florence (Kingseed) Zellner Sr. on Sept. 23, 1932. He married
Janice E. Ziegler on Sept. 17, 1960, and she survives.
Other survivors include: his mother of Tiffin; four sons, Ivan L. of Plano, Texas; Steven W., Michael D. and David E., all of Sycamore; two granddaughters; a brother, Melvin of Sycamore; and a sister, Mrs. Joyce Miller of Tiffin.
His father and a sister, Melva Zellner, are deceased.
He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1950; served in the U. S. Army Reserves from 1957-1963; was a farmer; a member of St. John's Baseline United Church of Christ, where he was a former member of the Consistory and Class 1 of the Sunday School; and a member of Eden Grange 2550, Seneca County.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. John's Baseline United Church of Christ with the Rev. Daniel Ward officiating and burial in Bethel cemetery, McCutchenville.
Visitation will be Sunday after 2 p.m. in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Avie L. Taylor
Clyde homemaker
Avie L. Taylor, 72, of Burkholder Road, Clyde, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Whitesburg, Ky., to Kelly and Callie (Stallard) Ison. She had been a resident of this area since 1953. She married
Benjamin Taylor May 18, 1946, and he survives.
Also surviving are: three sons, Larry of Toledo, Michael of Greenville and Timothy of Clyde; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Glenna) Stout of Clyde; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Edgar Ison of Jackson, Ky., Coy Ison of Lexington, Ky., and Komos Ison of Whitesburg, Ky.; and three sisters, her twin sister Mrs. Madge Sergent of Jackson, Ky., Opal Ison of Whitesburg, Ky., and Oma Bates of Windchester, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
She was educated in Kingdom Come School in Kentucky and was a homemaker and a member of First Missionary Church, Clyde, where she attended Christian Women's functions.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Missionary Church, Clyde, with the Rev. Richard Studebaker officiating. Interment will be in Bakertown cemetery, Clyde.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Daniel W. Weller Sr.
R.R. Donnelley retiree
Daniel W. Weller Sr., 62, of Willard died at 8:54 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Willard.
He was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Bellevue to Ivan and Mae F. (Seibel) Weller of Clyde.
Survivors include: his mother of Clyde; his wife Doreen of Ellicott City, Md.; a son, Daniel W. of Ellicott City, Md.; two daughters, Gay Lea Woodard of Mansfield and Cristy Lyons of Yorktown, Va.; four grandchildren; a brother, Gary R. of Republic; and a companion, Pat A. Myers of Willard.
His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Weller graduated from the Thompson School in 1955; served in the U.S. Army; was employed at R.R. Donnelley and Sons for 40 years, retiring in 1998; was a member of First United Methodist Church, Willard, Golden Rule Lodge 562 Free and Accepted Masons; and was an avid golfer.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church, Willard, with the Rev. Kenneth A. Gifford officiating. Burial will be in the Block cemetery, Seneca County.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave., Willard.

Barbara A. Hess
Calvert graduate
Barbara A. (Doepker) Hess, 55, of Holland died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in her home.
She was born July 24, 1945, in Baltimore, Md., to John and Betty Doepker of Tiffin who survive.
Other survivors include: a son, Sean Hess of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Holly Hess of Holland; two brothers, Dr. J. Frederick Doepker of Evansville, Ind., and Dan Doepker of Tiffin; six sisters, Mary Jo Bohls of Napoleon, Sister Jacquelyn Doepker, OSF, of Akron, Catherine Doepker of Smyrna, Ga., Rose Smith, Linda Ritzler and Patricia Doepker of Tiffin; and a special friend, Jake Galloway of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her fiance, Stuart Hall.
She was a 1963 graduate of Calvert High School and a 1968 graduate of Bowling Green State University, studied nursing at the Mercy School of Nursing and graduated in 1979, worked at the Toledo Hospital for 18 years as a registered nurse and most recently worked for the CorVel Co.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Road, Toledo, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Our Lady Of Lourdes Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be at 4 p.m. in St. Joseph cemetery, Tiffin.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Hospitality Kitchen at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
James W. Tyree Sr.
Retired Republic farmer
James W. Tyree Sr., 68, of N. TR 179, Republic, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.
He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Whitesburg, Ky., to James Ira and Mary (Webb) Tyree. He married
Marian Kelly Nov. 19, 1952, and she died March 1, 1994.
Survivors include: his mother of Tiffin; two sons, James W. Jr. of Green Springs and Michael of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Carol) Drown of Fremont and Mrs. Buck (Lisa) Bowers of Green Springs; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Henry and Rev. Paul Tyree of Green Springs, John of Tiffin and Donald of Clyde; five sisters, Marie Morrow of Tennessee, Shirley Mitten of Florida, Betty Matthews of Clyde, Nina Tyree and Sue Hill of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, William; and two sisters, Mildred Gibson and Stella Dunn.
He was a process operator for the Whirlpool Corp., where he retired in 1993 after 40 years; was a retired farmer and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Adams Township, where he was an active member serving as deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. Joe Walters officiating. Interment will be in Lay-Butternut Ridge cemetery, Adams Township.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.

Rosemary L. Sears
Former Tiffin resident
Rosemary L. Sears of Fremont died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2000, at home.
She was born Dec. 22, 1954, in Cleveland to Andrew and Florence (Lovas) Saxon and married
Robert E. Sears II on Aug. 9, 1975, at St. Francis DeSales in Cleveland.
Surviving are: two daughters, Melanie Lynn Sears of Tiffin and Melinda Rose Sears of Fremont; a grandson; and a brother, Jeff Saxon of Hudson.
She graduated from Holy Name High School in Cleveland in 1973, worked for 27 years for the Social Security office in Fremont, and was a member of St. Casimir Church in Fremont and the Tiffin Glass Club.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Fremont with burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Fremont.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont, where a wake service will be at 3:30 p.m.

Charles E. Tooley
Retired repair service technician
Charles E. Tooley, 73, of 204 S. Sycamore Ave, Sycamore, died at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Sycamore, to the late LeRoy and Vera M. (VanGundy) Tooley. He had never married
. He was raised most of his life in Sycamore by Mr. and Mrs. Clark Moore, who also are deceased.
Survivors include: two brothers, Guy C. Tooley; of Clyde and Wade A. Tooley of rural Sycamore; and four nieces and nephews.
A brother, LeRoy Junior Tooley, died in 1945.
Mr. Tooley, a 1946 graduate of Sycamore High School, retired as a repair service technician from Sounds Systems, Tiffin, where he had been employed for 20 years. He also worked for E & R Fixit in Sycamore for many years.
A Ham radio operator, he was a former member of Sycamore United Brethren Church and a member of the Mohawk Historical Society.
He also served on the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
The Rev. Kelly Paul Brown will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday graveside service in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.

Rosella A. 'Sally' Nye
Former St. Andrew's Church housekeeper
Rosella A. "Sally" Nye, 91, 7 W. Market St., died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born June 18, 1909, in Sandusky County, to Henry and Elizabeth (Mathias) Nye.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Arthur, Alvin, Lester, Cletus and Harvey Nye; and two sisters, Corrine Brickner and Dolores Kimmet.
A former housekeeper at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Liberty Township and for Dr. Schreiner in Tiffin, Miss Nye was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin.
She also was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Bascom, the Kiwanis Manor and the Senior Citizens.
The Rev. Art Niewiadomski will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, N. SR 635, Liberty Township. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in St. Andrew's cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
