Flavius B. Steinhauser
Ford-Autolite retiree

Flavius Boniface Steinhauser, 83, formerly of 109 Cherry St., died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born Sept. 5, 1917, in New Riegel, to Joseph and Philomena (Huss) Steinhauser. On June 21, 1941, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Irene Marie Smith, who survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Mary Ann) Lutes-Walton of Alvada and Mrs. Darl (Jane) Elchert of Tiffin; a sister, Blandina McCarthy of Toledo; five grandchildren, a step-grandchild, six great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.

Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Paul, Clarence, Norbert and Ralph Steinhauser; and three sisters, Thekla Elchert, Louise Juenemann and Marcella Alt.

A 1935 graduate of New Riegel High School, Mr. Steinhauser retired after 31 years of employment as a machine operator at Ford-Autolite in Fostoria.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the United Auto Workers.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Murd as celebrant. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Boniface cemetery, New Riegel.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 3:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church, School of Opportunity or Seneca County Dialysis Center.

Helen E. Porter
Tiffin homemaker

Helen E. Porter, 81, 160 Mohawk St., died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center, where she had been a patient for four weeks.

She was born April 12, 1919, in Vickery, to Walter and Maude (Schoch) Beckman. On Nov. 2, 1946, in Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont, she married Raymond E. Porter. He survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Barbara Ann Ditch of Wooster; two granddaughters; a great-grandson; two brothers, Robert Beckman of Fremont and Donald Beckman of Milan; and a sister, Katharine Linder of Fremont.

Three sisters, Norma Wirkner, Ruth Rahn and Jane Lashley, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Porter, a homemaker, was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

A resident of Tiffin for more than 50 years, she graduated in 1937 from Jackson Burgoon High School.

The Rev. Gail Angel will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Thomas L. Troup

Heidelberg College graduate

Word has been received of the death of Thomas L. Troup, 72, of 3463 Pelican Circle, Titusville, Fla., who died recently.

He was born July 1, 1928. His wife, Marilyn (DeBarbrie) Troup, survives.

Also surviving are eight children, Janet Tate of Brooksville, Ky., Tom Troup of Millburn, Fla., James Troup of Titusville, Fla., Pat Troup of Indianapolis, Ind., Terry Clark of Harvey Lake, Pa., Jennifer Pinaire of Indianapolis; Chris Vernon of Orlando, Fla. and John Troup, also of Indianapolis.

Mr. Troup graduated in 1950 from Heidelberg College.

Services were Monday in Titusville.

Margaret A. Hines-Liston
Licensed practical nurse

Margaret A. Hines-Liston, 52, died at 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at her home at 8500 N. CR 21, Clyde.

She was born Nov. 25, 1947, in Tiffin, to the late James and Mary (Monaco) Hines. Her husband, Douglas Liston, whom she married June 12, 1976, in Clyde, survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Dean A. and Craig Miller, both of Tiffin; a daughter, Lisa Porter of Florida; a brother, James Hines of Tiffin; three sisters, Sue Williams of Tiffin, Nancy Troyer of Tulsa, Okla. and Gina Hines of West Virginia; and seven grandchildren.

Two brothers, James Hines and Gary Offenburgh, also are deceased.

Mrs. Liston, a licensed practical nurse, had formerly worked at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

A Columbian High School graduate, she was an avid doll collector.

Services are at 8 p.m. today in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral, with Dennis Troyer, her brother-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Tiffin, at a later date.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Elmer R. Fitch
General Dynamics retiree

Elmer R. Fitch, 58, of South Main Street, Fostoria, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in the Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.

He was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Nolan, W.Va., to the late Tom and Maude (Blevins) Fitch. His wife, Ruby A. (Sartin) Fitch, whom he married April 18, 1965, in Columbus, survives in Fostoria.

Survivors also include a son, Darrell R. Fitch of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Damon (Renee) Keels of Fostoria and Mrs. Steven (Melissa) Cook of Republic; four brothers, Tom Fitch Jr. of Columbus and Bill, Jerry and Donnie Fitch, all of Stockport, Ohio; five sisters, Kathern Hall, Mabel Taylor and Helen Dempsey, all of Columbus, Betty Kinney of Sandusky and Ruth Sanders of Coushatta, La.; and six grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a son, Jerry "Jake" Fitch; a brother, Rebern Fitch; and a sister, Martha Stotridge.

Mr. Fitch retired in 1988, as a crane operator, from General Dynamics in Lima.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Union cemetery, near West Independence.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Annie Elizabeth Leber
Nursing assistant/homemaker

Annie Elizabeth Leber, 86, of Fern Road, Willard, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in the Willard Health Care Center. She had been in failing health.

She was born Jan. 25, 1914, in Pavia, Pa., to John and Sarah Jane (Berkey) Mowry. On Nov. 27, 1935, she married Donald F. "Butch" Leber, who died April 1, 1996.

Survivors include: five children, James Leber of Norwalk, Mrs. Henry (Audrey) Sutton of Clyde, John Leber of Lothian, Md., Thomas Leber of Brush Prarie, Wash., and Mrs. Thomas (Sylvia) Ruffing of Bellevue; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Orville (Bertha) Baker of New Enterprise, Pa., and Mrs. Orville (Laura) Claar of East Freedom, Pa.

A grandson, six brothers, George, Clarence, Lawrence, Ross, James and Clair; and three sisters, Bessie Corle, Alice Mowry and Nellie Mowry, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Leber, a homemaker and nursing assistant at Willard Mercy Hospital and Fisher-Titus Hospital, Norwalk, retired in 1976.

She received her education in the Pavia Schools and attended St. John's United Church of Christ, Milan.

A resident of Willard since 1948, formerly of Vickery, she enjoyed quilting, needlework, traveling and playing cards.

The Rev. Chasney will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Following the funeral there will be a luncheon at the Clyde Eagles.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Harold W. Anderson Jr.
Retired mechanical engineer

Harold Wesley "Roo-Georgie" Anderson Jr., 65, of Fostoria, died at 9:19 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.

He was born May 28, 1935, in Prospect to the late Harold W. and Ruth Anderson Sr. On June 27, 1957, in Marion, he married Patricia K. Kemmerly. She survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, Randy A. and Rodney L. Anderson of Orange Park, Fla., and Carbondale, Colo., respectively; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Sandra L.) Zender of Fostoria; four grandchildren; a brother, Robert Anderson of Marion; and a sister, Mrs. Tom (Betty) Morgan of Marion.

A 1953 graduate of Prospect High School, Mr. Anderson also held a degree in mechanical engineering from Chicago Allied Institute of Technology. He was retired from the Budd Co., Carey, where he worked as a mechanical engineer, and was an accomplished ship and yacht builder, having designed three sailing vessels.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Intelligence Corps. An active, current member of Fostoria Chapter of the United States Power Squadron, he had served as past commander and past newsletter editor.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside services will be conducted by United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., today, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be madt to the dialysis unit at Medical College of Ohio.

William D. Porter
Former Republic resident

William D. Porter, 78, formerly of Republic, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Sarasota, Fla.

Survivors include: a son, Jeff Porter, also of Sarasota; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Janine) Bollhaefer of Wheaton, Ill. ; five grandchildren; and a special friend, Patricia Myette.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Frances (Yates) Porter, and a son, Jed Porter.

A memorial service will take place at a later date in Republic.

William Donald Porter
Former Republic resident

Graveside services for William Donald Porter, 78, who died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in Sarasota, Fla., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 18, 2000) in the Farewell Retreat cemetery, Republic.

Colin James Carr
10-month old son

Colin James Carr, 10 months, died Monday, October 23, 2000, in Cuyahoga Falls. He was the son of Adam Elliot and Valerie Wax Carr, who survive.

Also surviving are: maternal grandparents Wayne and Sara Wax and maternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Sertell, all of Tiffin; paternal grandparents, Jean Carr of Cleveland Heights; paternal great-grandmother, Jinny Elliot of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England; aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Cuyahoga Falls. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls.

Memorials may be made in Colin's memory to Akron Children's Medical Center, One Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308-1062.

Earl O. Leininger
Railroad car inspector

Earl O. Leininger, 83, of Northwest Street, Bellevue, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, following an illness of two months.

He was born Jan. 8, 1917, in Brehmen, Okla., to George and Hattie (Heater) Leininger. He married Betty McConnell Recupero. They were divorced.

Surviving are: a son, Duane Leininger of Goodyear, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Hass of Castalia and Mrs. Robert (Marlene) Burger of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A brother, Glenn Leininger, also is deceased.

Mr. Leininger, who received his education in the Thompson-Flat Rock Schools, was employed as a car inspector for the Nickle Plate and Norfolk and Western Railroads, retiring in 1980. He also worked at Clyde Porcelin Steel.

A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed traveling and collecting railroad memorabelia. He attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Flat Rock.

The Rev. Bruce Kent will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Saturday service in Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Flat Rock. Interment will be in Flat Rock/Bishop Seibert cemetery.

The Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Stein Hospice, North Central EMS or the church.

Norman Leroy Baker
Carey resident

Norman Leroy Baker, 57 of 114 Zanetta Lane, Carey, died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1943, to Fred C. and Thelma L. (Russ) Baker, both deceased. His first marriage was to Margaret J. Johnston. They divorced. He married Mary Lou Odone Oct. 10, 1992. She survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Timothy Baker of Mangum, Okla., Thomas B. Baker of Findlay, James A. Baker of England and Zachary C. Baker of Carey; four daughters, Carlene Snyder of Fostoria, Teresa M. Gault of Cary, N.C., Teresa A. Moore of Cary, N.C., and Christina McGowan of Nagier, N.C.; a sister, Evelyn Faulkner of Reserve, N.M.; and 19 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: a son, Norman F. Baker; and two brothers, Joseph and Edwin Baker.

Mr. Baker was a meatcutter at Meijer in Findlay and affiliated with the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.

The Rev. Benjamin Knopp will officiate the 1:30 p.m. Monday service at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.

Memorials may be made to Zachary C. Baker Educational Fund c/o the funeral home.
