Beulah V. Vogel, 79, 40 Northwood Drive, died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, in St. Francis Health Care Centre, Green Springs.
She was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Sycamore, to Louis J. and Etta Mae (Hill) Harter. On Feb. 26, 1939, in Sycamore, she married
Clarence E. Vogel, who preceded her in death Oct. 5, 1992.
Surviving are: two sons, Dean E. Vogel of Republic and Neil A. Vogel of Willard; a sister, Marlene Wells of Bucyrus; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Sharon Cook; and two sisters, Dolly Lou Harter and Gladys Evans.
Mrs. Vogel, a member of Attica United Methodist Church, retired from the Bellevue General Electric, where she had been employed for 30 years.
The Rev. Larry Wagner will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Tuesday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Elizabeth W. 'Betty' Vitt
Former cashier/assembler
Elizabeth W. "Betty" Vitt, 56, of 445 E. Tiffin St., Fostoria, died at 5:46 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in The Toledo Hospital.
She was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Tiffin, to Ronald and Lois (Snyder) Colvin. Her mother survives in Findlay. Her husband, Daniel C. Vitt, whom she married
July 24, 1962, in Bascom, survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons, Barry C. Vitt of Premich, Germany and James M. Vitt of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Eric (Beth A.) Reffner of Fostoria; five brothers, Henry Berkheimer of Dennison, Texas, Gale "Skip" Colvin of Van Wert, Harry Colvin of Arcadia and Ronald and George Colvin, both of Findlay; and six grandchildren.
Her father and a sister, Ann Colvin, are deceased.
A homemaker, Mrs. Vitt also had been employed as a cashier at the former Fisher's Big Wheel in Fostoria and as an assembler at RCA (now Harris Corp.) in Findlay.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Karl Kessler, of Hope Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Leo A. Stockmaster
Retired electrician
Leo A. Stockmaster, 91, of rural Attica, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in the Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard.
He was born Jan. 17, 1909, in Havana, to Lawrence and Margaret (Miller) Stockmaster. His wife, Viola Stockmaster, is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, Donald Stockmaster of Attica; two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Margaret) Trauger of Dayton and Mrs. John (Mary) Schank of Attica; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mardel Leddick of Attica; and a brother, Harold Stockmaster of Sycamore.
Also preceding him in death were seven brothers, Walter, Wilbur, Clarence, Charles, Freddie and Albert Stockmaster and Glenn Little; and four sisters, Agnes Wise, Nettie Little, Loretta Young and Mildred Stockmaster.
Mr. Stockmaster retired as an electrician from the Railway Ice Company in Willard.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Grange Lodge.
The Rev. Kent Wilson will conduct the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Secor Funeral Home of Willard. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
L. Marabelle Foster-Pfeiffer
Erie Ordinance Depot retiree
L. Marabelle "Merry" Foster-Pfeiffer, 88, of 2711 Sandusky CR 80, Burgoon, died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in the Countryside Continuing Care Center, Sandusky County, Fremont, where she had been a patient for two months.
She was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Fremont, to Wesley Ray and Mabel Mae (Overmyer) Cypher. On Feb. 14, 1930, in Angola, Ind., she married
W. John Foster, who died Jan. 23, 1956. Her second husband, Herbert H. Pfeiffer, whom she married
July 31, 1962, in Buffalo, N.Y., died March 20, 1981.
Surviving are a son, Richard Ray Foster of Burgoon; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Janice) Thaler of Gallipolis; a foster-daughter, Nausika Martin of California; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Donn (Mae Louise "Peggy) Wilson of Fremont.
She also was preceded in death by a son, William Jack Foster, who died in 1994; a grandson; and a brother, Edworth Ray "Ned" Cypher.
Mrs. Pfeiffer, a 1928 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, was a homemaker. She also retired from Erie Ordinance Depot, where she had worked for many years until it closed.
She had resided in Burgoon for many years, then moved to Port Clinton where she lived for 40 years before returning to Burgoon.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Four Mile House cemetery, Sandusky County. Her grandson, William Foster, will officiate.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Engle Funeral Home, Bettsville, until time of departure to the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Hospice.
Richard B. 'Dick' Findley
Retired self-employed farmer
Richard B. "Dick" Findley, 66, of CR 3, Fostoria, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in Carp Lake Township, near Carp Lake, Mich., of natural causes.
He was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Jackson Township, to Vernon F. and Miriam I. (Feasel) Findley. His mother survives in Fostoria. On Sept. 20, 1953, in Amsden, he married
Marlyn A. Rouser, who survives in rural Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, Richard A. Findley of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Debra) Finsel and Mrs. Michael (Cindy) Lynch, both of Fostoria, and Mrs. Steve (Brenda) Phelps of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Also preceding him in death were his father; a brother, Gerald E.. Findley; and a sister, Betty L. Findley.
Mr. Findley, a self-employed farmer, retired in 1994.
A 1952 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School, he was a member of the Amsden United Methodist Church.
Also an avid hunter and fisherman, he had served as a Jackson Township trustee for the past 27 years.
The Rev. Dr. Gary Staats will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery, near Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Claire J. Swartzmiller
Bettsville native
Claire J. Swartzmiller, 84, of Oregon, Ohio, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in St. Charles Mercy Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1916, in Bettsville. His wife, Alma M. Swartzmiller, survives.
Survivors also include: three sons, Charles J., Mark W. and John P.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Lautermilch, Pauline Baker and Ladonna Dickman; and a brother, Harold Swartzmiller.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Richard.
Mr. Swartzmiller, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, had worked as a stationary engineer for the Toledo Hospital, Chrysler Corp. and Toledo Mental Health Center, from which he retired.
A life-time member of VFW Post 9816, he also was a member of St. Ignatius Church.
Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Eggleston Meinert Funeral Home and proceed to to St. Ignatius Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a scripture service will be at 4 p.m. and VFW services at 7:30.
Edward Snook
Tiffin native
Word has been received of the death of Edward Snook, 78, of 49 Oakwood Park Ave., Columbus, who died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in the Columbus Rehab Institute.
He was born in 1922 in Tiffin, to Claude and Anna Snook. His parents and his wife, Dorothy Snook, preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sisters, Marian Hoffman and Irene Boas; a niece and two nephews.
Mr. Snook, a 1940 graduate of Columbian High School,was a retired member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 1st Armored Division in North Africa with General Patton.
After returning home from the war he worked at the National Machinery Co. until 1949, when he moved to Columbus.
Private services were arranged at the Southwick-Good Funeral Chapel in Columbus.
Arthur 'Art' Faber
Webster Mfg. retiree
Arthur "Art" Faber, 73, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at his home at 4914 W. TR 132.
He was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Berwick, to Henry and Goldie (Hibbitts) Faber. His wife of 53 years, Alwilda (Miller) Faber, whom he married
Aug. 30, 1947, in Covington, Ky., survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gary A. Faber of Berkeley, Calif., and William T. Faber of Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Craig of Green Springs, Mrs. David (Carolyn) Taylor of Kendallville, Ind., and Mrs. Timothy (Pamela) Kramer of Melmore; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Bart and Richard Faber, both of Tiffin and Robert Faber of Sandusky.
A son, Roger Faber; five brothers, Frank, Dan, Carl, George and Paul Faber; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Goldie) Vogel, also are deceased.
Mr. Faber worked at American Standard 1947-52; Martin Brother's Plumbing and Heating 1952-67 and retired from Webster Mfg., where he had been employed 1978-89.
He also was the former owner of Seneca Plumbing and Heating 1967-77 and most recently worked part-time at Tiffin Ace Hardware.
A U.S. Army veteran, having served in Hiroshima, Japan, and the Philippines, he was a member of New Riegel Moose Lodge, Tiffin VFW Post 2858 and the American Bowling Congress, of which he was a life-time member.
The Rev. Scott Hayward will conduct the noon Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation is 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Grace Leona Wagner
Green Springs homemaker
Grace Leona Wagner, 90, of 118 W. Euclid St., Green Springs, died at 4:25 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 at her residence.
She was born Feb. 3, 1910, in Nevada, Ohio, to Fred and Blanche L. (Kissling) Larick. On Oct. 20, 1929, in Bucyrus, she married
Rolla Wagner. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Daryl Wagner of Logan and Robert Wagner of Tiffin; two daughters, Patricia Hammer of Green Springs and Phyllis Fisher of Willard; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Larick of Tiffin; and a sister, Ruth Norwood of Pennsylvania.
A grandson, a granddaughter; two brothers and two sisters, also are deceased.
Mrs. Wagner, a homemaker, was a member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, its Women's Guild and Volunteer Class. She also served as a former secretary of the consistory and Volunteer Class.
A graduate of Nevada High School, she also was a member of Union Grange and the Republic Friendship Circle Club.
The Rev. Karen Church will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday service in St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, rural Tiffin. Interment will be in St. Jacob Parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Engle-Young Funeral Home, Green Springs.

Frances Mary Allan
Sister of Tiffin resident
Frances Mary (Caruso) Allan, 79, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at her home at 121 Walter St., Bellevue.
She was born May 17, 1921, in Cleveland, to Antonio and Dominica (Bonomasse) Caruso. On Jan. 4, 1943, in Bellevue, she married
Charles Allan, who preceded her in death in 1978.
Survivors include: a son, Roger Allan of Bellevue; two daughters, Carol Allan of Bellevue and Cathy Cumpson of Hummelstown, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Rose Caruso of Bellevue and Mary Gaver of Tiffin.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Genevieve Wilhelm and Catherine Hess; and a brother, Carl Caruso.
Mrs. Allan, a 1939 graduate of Bellevue High School, was the former owner/operator of the Whitehouse Drive-In. She also worked as a clerk at Leonard's Pharmacy.
An avid Bellevue Redmen sports fan, she was a member of Club-Amer-Ital, the First United Methodist Church, Bellevue Hospital Auxiliary and a board of Elections volunteer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Bellevue cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Cletus J. Kummerer
G.E. retiree/carpenter
Cletus J. Kummerer, 82, 145 Cherry St., died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Salem Township, Wyandot County, to Albert J. and Alice (Phillips) Kummerer. On April 15, 1940, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married
Leona M. Schetter, who survives.
Other survivors include: six children, David J. Kummerer of Tiffin, Mrs. John (Diane M.) Beaverson of Bowling Green, Mrs. Charlie (Barbara M.) Harvey of Corbin, Va., Thomas J. Kummerer of Bettsville, Mrs. Daniel (Jane A.) Bush, also of Tiffin and Mrs. Charles (Martha J.) Gibson of Sandusky; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Saalman and Mrs. Mary Brickner, both of Bascom; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Merle and Donald Kummerer, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Kummerer, who attended Tiffin Alliance Church, retired in 1980 from the General Electric after 10 year working the router ovens. He also worked as a carpenter for Leo Schoen.
An avid horseracing fan, he enjoyed playing cards, wood working and fishing. He was a member of the Horseman Association and served as a time keeper for horse racing.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he received the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Services Medal with three bronze arrowheads.
The Rev. Mark Laferty will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
