Mark Allan Bell
Interior designer
Mark Allan Bell, 41, 2268 W. CR 26, died at 11:44 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at his residence, due to an accident while landscaping the home he had built with the help of family and friends.
He was born March 25, 1959, in Tiffin, to Bernard and Josephine (Halcomb) Bell, who survive in rural Tiffin. His wife, Cynthia K. (Ahle) Bell, whom he married
May 25, 1991, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, also survives.
Other survivors include: two children, Eric Mitchell and Sara Jessica Bell, both at home; two brothers, Joseph Bernard Bell of Tiffin and Dennis James Bell of Millbury; three sisters, Mrs. Dennis (Bernadine) Clouse, Mrs.James (Debra Jean) Clouse and Mrs. Robert (Theresa Mary) Lucius, all of Tiffin; nine nieces and five nephews and a great niece and nephew.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Francis and Henrietta Bell; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Louis and Stella Shutt; maternal grandfather, Joe Halcomb; and two nephews.
Mr. Bell, a 1977 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School, received his bachelor of arts degree from Bowling Green State University in 1994.
He was employed for the past five years as an interior designer for Scholz Design, Toledo. He formerly had been a salesman for Baumann Automotive Group, Fremont and Tiffin, for eight years.
A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, he enjoyed snow and water skiing, spending time with his friends at "The Cottage," working on his home and utilizing his talents of art and design.
He also was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges, both of Tiffin and the Toledo Ski Club.
The Rev. Frank Murd and the Rev. Keith Stripe will be the con-celebrants at the 10 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral, where a parish wake service will be private.
Memorials may be made to the Bell Children Trust Fund, in care of the Old Fort Banking Company.
Norman M. Goshe
New Riegel native
Norman M. Goshe, 73, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at his residence in McAlester, Okla.
He was born Oct. 13, 1926, in New Riegel, to the late Albert and Irene (Rinehart) Goshe. In 1945, in Longview, Texas, he married
Mary Ellen Bea. She died Feb. 28.
Survivors include: a son, Dennis Goshe of Hartshorne, Okla.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Delmer Goshe of Tiffin; a sister, Arvilla Layton of Fostoria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Goshe, who attended school in New Riegel, moved to McAlester in 1975 from Ojai, Ohio.
He worked as an auto body technician for 35 years for numerous companies including Bill Vicars and Buck Wilson Auto.
A member of the Catholic faith, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and coaching baseball.
He served in the U.S. Army March 12, 1945, until Dec. 7, 1946, during World War II.
Private family services will take place at a later date.
The Bishop Funeral Service, McAlester, Okla., is in charge of arrangements.
Clair Spires
Fostoria Distribution Co. retiree
Clair Spires, 80, of TR 108, Fostoria, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Gallia County, Ohio, to Lewis and Pansy (Walch) Spires. On Jan. 16, 1947, in Fostoria, he married
Ruth M. Stahl. She survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: two sons, David and Douglas Spires, both of Fostoria; two daughters, Pat Harris and Mrs. Dennis (Amy) Waltermyer, both of Fostoria; a brother, Ted Spires of Defiance; five sisters, Dorothy Underwood and Millie Heinze, both of Fostoria, Marie Power of Huntington, W.Va., Virginia Addlesburger of Gallapolis and Hilda French of McConnelsville; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Lawrence, Ralph, Emerson, Chester and Stanley Spires; and two sisters, Marjorie Gardner and Francis Price, also are deceased.
Mr. Spires, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired in 1986 from Fostoria Distribution Co., where he was a forklift operator. Prior to that he was employed at Fostoria Chrysler, Burstead and the Superette, all of Fostoria, and the Toledo Jeep plant.
The Rev. Donald Goodwin will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery, near Arcadia, where military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Joint Veterans Groups of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Bernice Frankart
Allied Signal retiree
Bernice Frankart, 70, died at 3:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at her home at 2117 McCutchenville Road, Fostoria.
She was born March 1, 1930, in Seneca County, to the late Nicholas and May (Burkett) Frankart.
Surviving are two sisters, Blanche Frankart of Fostoria and her twin, Mrs. Joseph (Beatrice) Wank of New Riegel; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Frankart; and six brothers, Carl, Clair, Earl, Irvin, Alvin and Edmund Frankart.
Ms. Frankart, a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, retired as a machine operator in 1980, from Allied Signal, Fostoria (now Honeywell), after 32 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial for the public will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be private.
Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay or to the church for Mass Intentions.
Ann M. Poignon
Retired Tiffin Glass decorator
Ann M. Poignon, 89, 422 Wall St., died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000,in the Autumnwood Care Center.
She was born July 23, 1911, in Tiffin, to Joseph and Mary (Kobis) Burgholzer. On April 19, 1932, in St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, she married
Raymond A. Poignon, who survives.
Survivors also include: four sons, Paul R. Poignon of Wallbridge and Jerry R., James A. and Joseph E. Poignon, all of Tiffin; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Mary Booth and Emma Saylor; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Poignon, who retired as a decorator from the Tiffin Glass Co., also worked at General Electric.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its Altar-Rosary Society and the Navy Mothers.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Keith Stripe as celebrant. The rosary will be prayed at the church at 9:45 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.
John Howard Ziegler
Brother of Tiffin residents
John Howard Ziegler, 68, of East Seneca CR 21, Bellevue, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in the Bellevue Hospital.
He was born April 26, 1932, in Bellevue, to the late Howard and Iva (Dewald) Ziegler. On June 24, 1951, in the Fireside Church, he married
Lois Swartzmiller. She survives.
Other survivors include: five children, Mrs. Gary (Deborah) Dunn of Curtice, Mrs. Steve (Diana) Krinke of Morgantown, W.Va., Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Bores of Bellevue, Jeff Ziegler of Ostrander and Mark Ziegler of Irwin, Ohio; a brother, Henry Ziegler of Clyde; three sisters, Mrs. Herb (Juanita) Miller and Mrs. Roger (Alice Jean) Perl, both of Tiffin and Mrs. William (Evelyn) Rutherford of Marysville; and 10 grandchildren
His stepmother, Julia Ziegler, also is deceased.
Mr. Ziegler, a 1950 graduate of Thompson High School, retired in 1995 from dairy farming.
He was a member of Zion Fireside United Church of Christ, Fireside; held many positions in the consistory; was former president of the Guernsey Breeders Association; former president of Bellevue Milk Producers; and member of the Seneca County Farm Bureau and the Bellevue Athletic Boosters.
He enjoyed sports.
The Rev. Candy Thomas will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in Zion-Fireside United Church of Christ. Interment will be in Fireside cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Auxter-Groff Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue.
Memorials may be made to the church or the American Heart Association.
Wilda Allena Sammet
Upper Sandusky resident
Wilda Allena Sammet, 96, of 18248 SR 67, Upper Sandusky, died at 9:24 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in the Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky.
Mrs. Sammet was born Oct. 23, 1903, in Marseilles Twp., Wyandot County, to John Wesley and Ella (Fox) Bear. She married
Ralph Leroy Sammet in Upper Sandusky on Aug. 20, 1927, and he died Feb. 27, 1987.
Survivors include: a son, Dale L. of Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Frances) Schilling of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Morris (Carol) Groman of Bluffton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Lester; and a sister, Tempa.
She graduated from Harpster High School in 1921; was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the farm management; a member of the Marseilles United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, served on the administrative board and the United Methodist Women; active in community drives; and a member of the Wyandot County Farm Bureau.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Marseilles United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Pees officiating. Burial will be in Chandler cemetery, Marseilles.
Visitation is scheduled for 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky; and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Michael B. Rhoad

Michael B. Rhoad, 46, of 2517 W. CR 58, McCutchenville, died at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 1954, in Fort Belvoir, Va. to Richard M. and Bonny J. (Hemminger) Rhoad and they survive in Kodak, Tenn. He married
Helen L. Palmer Aug. 14, 1976, and she survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Michael Sloan, at home; a daughter, Lindsay Nicole, at home; and two brothers, Douglas E. of Tiffin, and Leon A. of Sevierville, Tenn.
Mr. Rhoad was a 1972 Mohawk High School graduate and also attended The Ohio State University. He was a self-employed carpenter/painter while during the last several years, he worked with Tim Riedel Builders of Upper Sandusky and previously had worked many years for Parker Brothers Painting, McCutchenville.
He attended Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville; member of Sons of Sycamore American Legion Post #250, Sons Bowling Team on Thursday nights at Bowlmor Lanes in Sycamore, Men's Catholic Golf League at Seneca Hills, and "Berwick Softball Team" which played in the Old Timers League in Sycamore.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville, with the Rev. Roy Howell officiating. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery, McCutchenville.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Wyandot Health Foundation or Sycamore American Legion Post #250.
Helen M. Hayman

Helen M. Hayman, 84, of 3414 CH 39, Upper Sandusky, died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Hayman was born to Cyrus E. and Estella F. (Everhart) Ruhlen on Sept. 3, 1917, in Wyandot County. She married
Paul Hayman May 25, 1936, and he survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Stanley L. of Tiffin and Mike A. of Upper Sandusky; three daughters, Mrs. Lorne (Betty) Romanko and Mrs. Bob (Susie) Dininger, both of Sycamore and Mrs. John (Doris) Allen of Upper Sandusky; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Ruhlen of Naples, Fla.
A brother, Roy Ruhlen, preceded her in death.
She was a 1936 graduate of Sycamore High School; a homemaker; a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ and Mohawk Sixty Plus Club; and her hobbies included reading, crocheting, gardening and fishing.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Edgar W. Shelly officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Herman A. Dunn
Retired production foreman
Herman A. Dunn, 64, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at his home at 4753 E. TR 130, after an illness of two and a half years.
He was born Sept. 13, 1935, in Whitesburg, Ky., to Lawrence and Susie (Morgan) Dunn.
Survivors include a brother, Ernest Dunn of Republic; a sister, Mrs. Walter (Fran) Sherman of Tiffin; four nephews and a niece.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew; and a sister, Evelyn.
Mr. Dunn had worked for General Dynamics in Fostoria and Lima, retiring in 1991, as a production foreman.
He also served in the Strategic Air Command of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Eagles 691 and the V.F.W., both of Wapakoneta.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with his nephew, the Rev. Matthew Sherman of the Family Worship Center, Fremont, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Tiffin.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
