Marie M. Karcher
Sister of area residents

Marie M. Karcher, 82, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at her residence on CR 82, Forest.

She was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Seneca County, to Charles P. and Elizabeth M. (Walter) Boes. Her husband, Albert L. Karcher, whom she married Jan. 2, 1941, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Alvada, survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Joseph A Karcher of Garrettsville, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Rose Marie) Miller of Dunkirk; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Miller of Fostoria; and two brothers, Gerald and Eugene Boes, both of Alvada.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Phillip and Richard; and a sister, Marguerette.

Mrs. Karcher, a homemaker, also worked as a teacher's aide and cook at Forest Elementary School and in housekeeping at Fairhaven Community Health Care Center for three years.

She and her husband, also were caretakers of Jackson Township cemeteries and roads for 13 years. and she helped on the family farm.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kirby and its Rosary Altar Society and served as a former parish council member and lay minister.

She also was a member of the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild, Wyandot County Senior Citizens, where she was involved in fund-raising projects, the Farmers Union, Local AARP Chapter and the Farm Bureau Council

She was a past member of the Happy Harvest Council Group, a Red Cross blood donor; was awarded, by the State of Ohio, for extraordinary volunteer service to her community and was awarded, by the Ohio House of Representatives, as an Outstanding Senior Citizen for Wyandot County for the Area Agency on Aging Inc. Mrs. Karcher visited nursing homes and housebound residents and provided transportation to those in need.

An avid baseball fan, she enjoyed playing cards, the Wyandot County Fair, traveling, and baking.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kirby, with the Rev. James Holmer as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, where a Biblical wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Hardin County, the church, Wyandot County Senior Citizens or a charity of the donor's choice.

Cynthia L. Hushour
Life-time Tiffin resident

Cynthia L. Hushour, 92, formerly of the Fernwood Apartments, died at 2:34 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born Dec. 16, 1907, in Spencerville, to William and Ida May (McDonald) Lyman. She first married Floyd Mack, and he is deceased. In 1948, she married Raymond Hushour, who also is deceased.

Survivors include: five children, Robert L. Mack, Mrs. Donald (Ida May) Seifert, Mrs. Gerald (Georgiann Albright and Mrs. Clarence (Mary Jane) Reinbolt, all of Tiffin and Paul Richard Mack of New Riegel; 36 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were four sons, Floyd, John, William and Donald E.

Mrs. Hushour, a former Tiffin Glass House worker, was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

Graveside services in Fairmont cemetery will take place at a later date.

There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Evelyn R. Seislove
Rural Tiffin homemaker

Evelyn R. Seislove, 79, 60 N. SR 101, died at her residence Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000.

She was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Deshler, to Emmit and Edna (Rayle) Wooley. On Dec. 27, 1941, in Deshler, she married Richard W. Seislove, who survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Irv (Jan) Holdgreve of Delphos and Mrs. Michael (Jean) Johns of Traverse City, Mich.; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Young of Deshler.

Also preceding her in death was a sister, Esther Koenigseker.

A 1938 graduate of Deshler High School, she graduated in 1940 from Tiffin University.

Mrs. Seislove, a homemaker, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

The Rev. Richard Dunn will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. Saturday funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church.

The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Esther D. Monday
Former Clyde resident

Miss Esther D. Monday, 68, formerly of 213 Bertha St., Clyde, recently of the Rutherford House, Fremont and the Arbors of Clyde, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

She was born April 4, 1932, to the late Vern and Fredia (Miller) Monday.

Surviving are two brothers, Floyd and Harold Monday, both of Clyde.

A brother, Donald Monday, also is deceased.

Miss Monday was a former member of the Harvest Temple, Clyde.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday until time of the service at 11 a.m., in the Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde. The Rev. William Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Marie M. Hoffer
Homemaker

Marie M. Hoffer, 91, formerly of 21 Jackson St., died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in St. Francis Home.

Mrs. Hoffer was born Feb. 10, 1909, in Seneca County to Harvey and Cora (Seemuth) Schwartz. On Dec. 22, 1928, she married Vernon Hoffer who died July 11, 1976.

Surviving are: a son, Jerry V. of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Sharon) Wilbert of Old Fort; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A brother, Carl Schwartz, preceded her in death.

She graduated in 1927 from Columbian High School; was a homemaker; and a member of St. John United Church of Christ and Eastern Star, Tiffin Chapter #189.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. David Culp officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home where there will be an Eastern Star service at 5:15.

Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or to St. Francis Home.

Frances L. Brooker
Tiffin resident's mother

Frances L. Brooker, 85, of 1709 Byal Ave., Findlay, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Fox Run Manor in Findlay.

Mrs. Brooker was born April 21, 1915, in Hardin County to Ray and Chloeva (Gardner) Beard. She married Clifford E. Brooker Nov. 7, 1930, and he died in 1976.

Survivors include: three sons, Elmer E. and Donald R., both of Findlay and Charles C. of McComb; two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Jacqueline M.) Margraf of Tiffin and Kathy L. Brooker of Findlay; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a step-sister, Ellen M. Feasel.

She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Findlay; was a homemaker and a nurses aide at Winebrenner Village and the Judson Palmer Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with the Rev. Dick A. Powell officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay.

Visitation hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Susie A. Carpenter
Fostoria homemaker

Susie A. Carpenter, 85, of 25 Christopher Drive, Fostoria, died, at 7:50 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 at St. Catherine's Care Center. She was born Nov. 10, 1914 to Sam and Eva Lee.

Surviving include: a sister, Helen Spencer of Columbus; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Harper.

Ms. Carpenter was a homemaker and member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Fostoria.

The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 at the Faith Tabernacle Pennacostal Church of God, Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 11 - 1 p.m., prior to the funeral services at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Steven Michael Goist
National Lime and Stone Company employee

Steven Michael Goist, 29, of 8952 S. St. Rte. 53, McCutchenville, died at 8:21 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000 at the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. He was born July 12, 1971 to Philip E. and Marlene E. (Bare) Goist of Adrian, both parents survive. On March 13, 1997 he married Lou Ann Wagner in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

Other survivors include: a step-son, Adrian Van Hoosier of Sycamore; and a brother, Gene Goist of Sycamore.

Mr. Goist was an employee of National Lime and Stone Company in Carey. A member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carey and Tri-county Garden Tractor Association, he also enjoyed garden tractor pulling.

The Rev. Paul W. DeMoss and Vicar Todd Hawkins will officiate the 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 funeral service at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation hours are from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice c/o the funeral home.

Efren Garcia
Tiffin resident

Efren Garcia, 52, of Monroe St., Tiffin, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, Toledo. He was born Feb. 17, 1948 to Vincent and Frances (Salazar) Garcia, both deceased.

Surviving include: two sons, Vincent and Brian Garcia, both of Clyde; a daughter, Crystal Garcia of Clyde; seven brothers, Joe Garcia of Fostoria, Lou and Mario Garcia, both of Columbus, Oscar Garcia of Sandusky, Gus Garcia of Reno, Nev., and Roberto Garcia of N. M.; six sisters, Rosie Balderas of Tex., Lupe Krotzer of Lima, Ofelia Langmeyer of PA., Ida Vento and Velia Tracheta, both of Tex., and Lydia Silva of Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Garcia received his education in the Gibsonburg School System and was a disabled laborer.

The Rev. Paul Finney will officiate the 1 p.m. Monday funeral service at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home. Burial will be at McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation hours are from 11 a.m until the funeral service at the funeral home.

Geraldine M. Wood
Area resident

Geraldine M. Wood, 67, formerly of Nevada, OH. had been residing at Halbedel Dr., Upper Sandusky, died at her home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000. She was born Jan. 23, 1933 to Danny and Muriel (Clark) Lynch, both deceased. On Dec. 30, 1952 she married Floyd C. Wood, he died Nov. 16, 1995.

Surviving include: a daughter, Debra Kline of Upper Sandusky: grandchildren; Rick Weaver and Kristina Niederkohr, Upper Sandusky; and a great grandchild, Ashley Marie Niederkohr of Upper Sandusky.

Mrs. Wood was a homemaker. She had worked at the former Moore's Nursing Home, at Westinghouse, and a cook at Fairhaven Health Care Community, all of Upper Sandusky. She was of Catholic faith and enjoyed cooking, reading, T.V. and collecting angels.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Bringman Clark & Co. is in charge of the arrangements

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; VA Hospitals; and/or the Wyandot Co. Humane Society, c/o Bringman Clark & Co. Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Clarence "C.J." Adelsperger
Retired farmer

Clarence "C.J." Adelsperger, 93, of rural Carey, died in the Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2000. He was born Jan. 30, 1907 to Milton and Mabel (Hottle) Adelsperger. On Nov. 27, 1929 he married Olive L. Wiseley in Arcadia, and she survives.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Nye of Dearborn heights, Mich., Mrs. Faye Newman of Findlay, Mrs. Ferne Musgrave of Toledo, and Carol Adelsperger of Columbus; a brother, Wilbert Adelsperger of Carey; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Moyer of Findlay, and Inez Wiseley of Toledo; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Bertha Gassman.

Mr. Adelsperger retired from farming in 1982. A member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carey; Wyandot Lodge 314 Free & Accepted Masons in McCutchenville; 50 year member Carey Chapter 159 Royal Arch Masons, Carey; Royal & select Masons of Upper Sandusky Council 98 in McCutchenville; Flying Farmers Association, and he enjoyed playing Euchre.

The Pastor James R. Sharrett will officiate the 11 a.m. Tuesday funeral service at Grace United Methodist Church, Carey. Burial will be at Union cemetery, West Independence.

Visitation hours are from 2-9 p.m. Monday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, also one hour prior to the service at the church. A Masonic service will be held Monday at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home.

Leora Ruth Sanford
Sanford Equipment Inc. co-owner

Leora Ruth Sanford, 88, of 1220 W. 37th St., Lorain, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in the Community Health Partners of Lorain. Arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Arthur M. Weaver
Life-long farmer/carpenter

Arthur M. Weaver, 74, of 288 CH 37, Sycamore, died at 3:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

He was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Wyandot County, to Orville H. and Emma E. (Lundy) Weaver. His wife, Evelyn J. (Phillips) Weaver, whom he married Dec. 9, 1945, in Harmony United Methodist Church, Tiffin, survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Roma) Sayre of Millersville, Pa. and Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Weaver of Galion; two sons, Jerry D. and Gary D. Weaver, both of the Sycamore area; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Daryl W. Weaver of Melmore and Marlin E. Weaver of rural Upper Sandusky.

A brother, Ronald Weaver; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Burnside, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Weaver, a life-long farmer, also worked at American Standard, in the carpentry business and for Bill Sowers Tree Service.

A member of Harmony United Methodist Church, he enjoyed fishing.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. David Powell officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
