David W. Ritchie Sr.
Owner/operator of Dave's Barber Shop

David W. Ritchie Sr., 94, formerly of 1692 W. SR 18, died at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at the Autumnwood Care Center. He was born April 26, 1906, to David E. and Ida (Hess) Ritchie. On Dec. 7, 1926 he married Sallie Estep. She died July 11, 1999.

Surviving are: a son, David W. Ritchie Jr. of rural Tiffin (Melmore); and a granddaughter, Mrs. Misty Ritchie-Morano of Charlotte, N.C.

Preceding him in death were: a daughter, Virginia Ritchie, who died at birth; two sisters, Vera O. Lam, and Beatrice Showalter; and a brother, Charles S. Ritchie.

Mr. Ritchie was the owner/operator of Dave's Barber Shop located at Six's Corners and in Bloomville. He also worked at Westgate Barber Shop in Tiffin and Larry's Barber Shop in Findlay. He was a member of the Second United Church of Christ, serving on its consistory, and the D. of A. in Bloomville .

The Rev. Arthur Geyh will officiate the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation hours will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

Memorials may be made to Second United Church of Christ and/or Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

Marilyn B. Keegan
Resident of Fremont

Marilyn B. Keegan, 71, of North Wilson Ave., Fremont, died of cancer early Thursday morning, Aug. 31, 2000, in the home of her daughter in Gibsonburg after a long illness. She was born in Jackson Township to Otto James and Hildegard Mary (Wasserman) Smith. She married Charles W. Keegan in St. Joseph Church, Fremont, Nov. 20, 1948. He died Dec. 12, 1996.

Surviving are: a daughter, Carol Jeanne Morclock, Gibsonburg; two sons, Thomas of Grove City and Joseph of Fremont; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Traunero of Tiffin, Kathleen Vickery of Bellevue and Elizabeth Growel of Huron; and three brothers, Windsor Smith of Westlake, Larry Smith of Vickery and Ken Smith of Fremont.

Preceding her in death were twin grandsons, Chad and Brad Britenburg.

Mrs. Keegan graduated in 1947 from St. Joseph High School and was valedictorian. She retired in 1988 from Fremont Motor Sales Inc., where she was office manager for 41 years. In that time she served under seven different employers. She was also a member of St. Joseph Church Blessed Sacrament Confraternity, Division II and St. Joseph Rosary Society. She was a past 4-H club leader and Cub Scout den mother. She loved spending summers at her cottage on Lake Erie with her family and was very proud of the fact the she wrote her life story and had it printed and bound for her family.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation hours are 2-9 p.m. today at the Nopper-Karlovetz Funeral Home, 900 North St., Fremont.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church and/or SJCC Alumni Association.

Betty J. Adams
Fostoria resident

Betty J. Adams, 63, of 1224 Sandusky St., Fostoria, died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born May 21, 1937, to Charles and Emma Dee (Greene) Elliott. They are deceased. On March 31, 1956, she married Frank M. Adams. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael D. Adams of West Chester, Pa., and Gerald W. Adams of Fostoria; two daughters, Diane K. Woodland of Findlay and Mrs. Lori A. Sebastiano of Cadillac, Mich.; a sister, Frances Masters of Pinon Hill, Calif.; a brother, James D. Elliott of Bessimer, Ala.; and eight grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a brother, Earl Elliott, and a sister, Catherine Fancher.

Mrs. Adams was a 1956 graduate of Bessemer High School and a homemaker.

The Rev. Edmond Zickefoose will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Graham cemetery, Wayne.

Visitation hours will be 6-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association and/or the charity of the donor's choice.

Kathleen Odelia Logsdon
Retired A.O. Smith employee

Kathleen Odelia Logsdon, 65, formerly of 218 W. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky, residing at Fairhaven Health Care Community, died at 5:13 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000. She was born April 28, 1935, to Gerald and Catherine (Rall) Logsdon.

Surviving are: her stepmother, Sarah Logsdon of Upper Sandusky; two brothers, Gene and Giles Logsdon, both of Upper Sandusky; six sisters, Mrs. Rosann Binau, Mrs. Marilyn Barnes, Mrs. Jenny Barnes, Mrs. Bernadette Billock, Mrs. Theresa Amert and Mrs. Geraldine Walton, all of Upper Sandusky; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Logsdon was a 1953 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. Retiring from A.O. Smith, she began her employment with the former Westinghouse Co. in 1957. She as a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing and reading.

The Rev. James Holmer will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Peter Catholic Church cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation hours will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Bringman-Clark & Co. Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic School/Fairhaven Health Care Community/ and/or Wyandot Memorial Hospital ICCU.

Geraldine Mae Manecke
Porter's Dry Cleaners employee

Geraldine Mae Manecke, 78, of 25 Christopher Drive, formerly of 1256 Madison Road, Fostoria, died at 12:04 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at St. Catherine's Care Center. She was born Sept. 23, 1921, to Elias B. and Ella (Saum) Snyder. On June 24, 1948, she married Harold E. Manecke in the former Evangelical Reform Church, Fostoria. He survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Linda White of Tiffin; a brother, Lester Snyder of Fostoria; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were: a daughter, Doris A. Rumschlag; four brothers, Homer, Ben, Ralph and Earl Snyder; six sisters, Minnie Day, Clara Hartley, Edna Stahl, Polly Archbald, Ethel Fruth, and Dorothy Fruth

Mrs. Manecke was a homemaker and had been employed at Porter's Dry Cleaners in Fostoria, was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria, where she had taught Sunday school and was a Campfire leader.

The Rev. Lucinda Hunter will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Saturday service at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.

Visitation hours are 3-5 and 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the church.

John Sheldon Lockard Sr.
Former Republic resident

John Sheldon Lockard Sr., 84, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born July 1, 1916.

Surviving are: two sons, John Sheldon Lockard Jr. of Pemberville and Sherman Lockard of Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters, Norma Sheffield of Manassas, Virginia, Linda Fagan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Carol Lupica of Tiffin.

Preceding him in death were: his wife, the former Mary Alice Renninger; and a daughter, Patty Lou Bogart.

Mr. Lockard was a dairy farmer and former resident of Republic.

Funeral arrangements are pending and burial will be at the Veterans cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.

Margie M. Magrum
Gibsonburg resident

Margie M. Magrum, 68, of 3902 E. SR 600, Gibsonburg, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Aug. 31, 2000. She was born Sept. 5, 1931, in Pemberville to August and Anna (Hansen) Nowak. She married William Magrum Sept. 15, 1950. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, William Magrum Jr. of Lodi and Scott Magrum of Gibsonburg; three brothers, Harold Nowak of Toledo, Lester Nowak of Fremont and Harry Nowak of Ravena; four sisters, Esther Sondergeld of Oak Harbor, Clara Walp of Gibsonburg, Katherine Gibson of Fremont and Hattie Huff of Fremont; two grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death was a brother, Clarence Nowak.

Mrs. Magrum was a homemaker and a resident of Gibsonburg for 50 years.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde, from where funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Dorothea L. Saldausky
Fostoria homemaker

Dorothea L. Saldausky, 82, of West Jackson St., Fostoria, died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. She was born Oct. 8, 1917, to Ray and Josephine (Binderbasin) Duncan. She married Walter Saldausky in 1948 in Fostoria. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Dennis Saldausky of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Monasmith of Alpena, Mich., and Linda Scott of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, John and Otto Milligan, and a sister, Agnes Milligan.

Mrs. Saldausky was a 1935 graduate of Fostoria High School, a homemaker and was formerly employed as a salesperson at Buckeye Mart in Fostoria.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.

Visitation hours are 6-8 tonight, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Lota Faye Burns
Fostoria homemaker

Lota Faye Burns, 70, of 210 Jeanette Dr., Fostoria, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in the home of her daughter, Sandra Herman of Fostoria.

Mrs. Burns was born May 24, 1930, in Van Zant County, Texas, to Harvey and Lota (Fails) Teel. She married Floyd W. Burns Oct. 20, 1951, in Fostoria. He died in February 1990.

Survivors include: two sons, Larry Burns of Fostoria and Robert T. Burns of New Riegel; two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Dina) Schreiner and Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Herman Jr., both of Fostoria; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Wybensinger of Bellevue.

A sister, Ida Bell Crisler, also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker, had worked at the former Buckeye Mart, Fostoria, and Lord's Dress Shop; was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and past member and president of the Columbianas of K of C, Fostoria.

The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Wendelin Church followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. and burial in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian Wake Service will be at 8:30.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Seneca County and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg; and St. Wendelin Church.

Clara B. King
Fostoria homemaker

Clara B. King, 89, of 330 W. Lytle St., Fostoria, died at 8:07 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born June 21, 1911, in Seneca County to C. Coleman and Ida S. (Stoup) Shuff. On Nov. 22, 1933, she married Paul J. King in St. Mary's Church at Millersville. He died April 18, 1974.

Survivors include: four sons, Arthur L. of Pine Mountain Club, Calif., Richard J. of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Gerald F. of Fostoria and Marvin E. of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Linda) Terry of Bascom; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Strausbaugh of Fostoria.

The following preceded her in death: two sons, Thomas C. and Joseph P.; five brothers, Charles B., John E., Frank O., Otto R., and Lewis H. Shuff; and four sisters, Glenda M. Kline, Pearl L. Hoffman, Mary E. Shuff and Catharine E. Shuff.

Mrs. King was a homemaker and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, following by burial in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Tiffin.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Wendelin Educational Foundation.

Jacob Hale Jr.
Former Attica resident

Services for Jacob Hale Jr., 75, formerly of 1520 TR 197, Attica, were Friday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, Attica. Burial was in the Omar cemetery, rural Attica.

Mr. Hale died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, in Autumnwood Care Center. He was born June 12, 1925, in Laura, Ky., to the late Jacob and Rachel (Mills) Hale Sr.

He is survived by: a sister, Gladys Mullins of Attica; and two nephews, Wallace and Eddie Workman, both of Attica. Three brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to Polio Plus through the Rotary Foundation, 700 Holiday Dr., Willard, 44890.

Anna M. Lofay
St. Francis Home resident

Anna M. Lofay, 86, formerly of 7 W. Market St., died at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in the St. Francis Home.

She was born Jan. 13, 1914, in Tiffin to Joseph and Amelia (Fero) Lofay. Survivors include a sister, Justine McIntyre of Tiffin, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Carl and Pete Lofay, and three sisters, Amelia West, Vickie French and Mary Kerschner.

She worked in maintenance at Webster Manufacturing and was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today in the St. Francis Home Chapel followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.

Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.

Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Elmer Sweeney
Former Tiffin resident

Elmer Sweeney, 77, of the Ohio Extended Care Nursing Home, Lorain, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in the home, where he been since 1993.

He was born in Scott County, Dungannon, Va., to M.W. and Vera (Field) Sweeney. A sister, Georgia Adkins of Lorain, survives along with nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Harrison Sweeney; and two sisters, Elsie Pettyjohn and Elizabeth Delp.

He served in the South Pacific Medical Corps during World War II and retired from Webster Manufacturing.

Services will be at noon today in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with the Rev. William Combs as the officiant. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
