Nina L. Cravens-Kliesch
Family farmwife
Nina L. Cravens-Kliesch, 86, of Vanlue, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
She was born March 25, 1914, in Hancock County, to Albert Ray and Iva Viola (Smith) Cravens. Her husband, Robert V. Kliesch, whom she married
March 12, 1936, died Aug. 6, 1994.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Shirley) Lynott of Perrysburg; two grandsons, Kerwin Wiseley of Findlay and Kendall Wiseley of Cape Coral, Fla.; a step-granddaughter, Lisa Lynott of Painesville; three great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Sean A. Wiseley; and a brother, Ralph H. Cravens, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Kliesch, a 1932 graduate of Vanlue High School, where she served as salutatorian, helped her husband with farming until 1994.
She was a member of the former St. Paul United Methodist Church, south of Vanlue, where she had been a member of its Ladies Aide, served on the board of trustees, as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader.
She also was a member of the Vanlue Band Mothers and a Quilt Club.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in West Independence United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Friar and Pastor Jeff Raker as co-officiants. Private family burial will be in Zion Bloom cemetery, Vanlue.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.

Sigfredo Ceballos
St. Francis convent gardener
Sigfredo Ceballos, 69, 491 N. Sandusky St., died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2000, in the Toledo Hospital.
He was born July 3, 1931, in Cuba, to the late Maximo and Victoria Ceballos. On May 8, 1961, in Cuba, he married
Isabel Luisa Iglesias, who survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Victor Ceballos of Tiffin and Guillermo Ceballos of Miami, Fla.; two daughters, Ela Isabel Ceballos of Miami and Rosalba Ceballos of Biruraos, Greece; a brother, Luis Alberto Ceballos of Cuba; three sisters, Senaida, Solange and Dolores Ceballos, all of Cuba; and eight grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Rene, Reinado and Ricelo Ceballos; and a sister, Hilda Ceballos.
Mr. Ceballos was employed as a gardener at St. Francis Campus-Convent and Nursing Home.
A funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. today in St. Mary Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be in St .Mary cemetery.
Visitation is after 9:15 a.m. today at the church until time of the Mass.
The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Robert A. Borden
Fremont physician/Tiffin native
Dr. Robert A. Borden, 80, of 2108 Buckland Ave., Fremont, died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2000.
He was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Tiffin, to Fred L. and Nelle C. (Henninger) Borden. His wife, Dorothy (Burger) Borden, whom he married
Oct. 9, 1954, in Tiffin, survives.
Survivors also include: three sons, Dr. Bradford Borden of Chargin Falls, Brent Borden of Fremont and Dr. Brian Borden of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a daughter, Ann Weimer of Columbus; and seven grandchildren.
Two granddaughters, also are deceased.
Dr. Borden practiced internal medicine in Fremont for 42 years, and served as chief of staff in 1970 at Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
Dr. Borden, who was raised in Crestline, graduated from the Culver Military Academy, Culver, Ind., Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Michigan Medical School.
A U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Zenobia Shrine and the Fremont Shrine Club. He was a past member of Fremont Rotary Club and the Fremont Country Club.
He was instrumental in establishing Hospice and Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Florence M. Ranker
55-year Tiffin resident
Florence M. Ranker, 75, of Kensington Avenue, died Monday, July 24, 2000, in Port Clinton.
She was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Sidon, Miss., to Dorsey P. and Florence C. (Myers) Curry. On Aug. 15, 1943, in Sidon, she married
Richard M. Ranker, who preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1999.
Survivors include: three sons, Charles E. Ranker of Noblesville, Ind. and Dorsey C. and Greg R. Ranker, both of Tiffin; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ranker, who attended Christ's Church at Tiffin, retired as manager from the former Fashion Shop in Tiffin.
The Rev. Jon B. Bravinder will conduct the 10 a.m. Thursday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bertha G. Cunningham
Former Fremont homemaker
Bertha G. Cunningham, 99, formerly of 212 S. Wood St., Fremont, died Monday, July 24, 2000, in St. Francis Health Care Centre, Green Springs.
She was born Aug. 22, 1900, in Ballville Township, Sandusky County, to John and Catherine (Wammes) Slope. On Oct. 4, 1921, in St. Joseph Church, Fremont, she married
Charles Cunningham, who preceded her in death in 1954.
Surviving are two sons, James Cunningham of Fremont and Raymond Cunningham of Green Springs; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Raymond Slope; three sisters, Dorothy Burkett, Anna Marie Geyman and Irene Magrum; and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Cunningham, a homemaker and caregiver, had worked at the former Community Hospital and St. Joseph Church Rectory.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont, and the Confraturnity of the Blessed Sacrament.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont, where a wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Gerald W. Mayer
Tiffin native
Word has been received of the death of Gerald W. Mayer, 92, of Point Place, who died Monday, July 24, 2000, in Lakepark Convalescent Center.
Surviving are a son, Dr. James Mayer of Lambertville, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. George (Joyce) Schomer Sr. of Massachusetts and Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Snyder Molchan of Temperance, Mich.; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gervase Evanoff of Toledo; a half brother, William Mayer and a half sister, Helen Fox, both of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie in 1993; his parents, William and Ida Mayer; stepmother, Lana Mayer; and a sister, Genevieve Mayer.
Mr. Mayer, a self-employed radio repair, sales and service man, retired in 1972.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was active for many years in a local CB Club with the handle "Cliffdweller."
His career of radio/television, sales and repair evolved from his interest in electronics as a youngster. He fashioned a crystal radio set wrapping copper wire around a Quaker Oats box.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today in the David R. Jesin Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit, Toledo, where a scripture service will be at 4 p.m.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel cemetery.

Gladys Mesnard
Sister of area residents
Gladys Mesnard, 83, formerly of Tiffin and most recently of 1929 Whetstone St., Bucyrus, died at 12:05 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2000, in the Altercare of Bucyrus. She had been in failing health for the past year.
She was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Tiffin, to Ellsworth Field and Lelia (Facinger) Field Kitchen. Her husband, Durrell N. Mesnard, whom she married
July 6, 1936, died Oct. 29, 1993.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sharon Beach of Bucyrus; a son, Robert R. Mesnard of Butler; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Field of Old Fort and Raymond Field of Tiffin; and a sister, Katherine Bennett of Tiffin.
A son, Carson Lee and a brother, Lester Field, also are deceased.
Mrs. Mesnard, a homemaker, also worked at Ten Fycks Greenhouse.
A Tiffin Columbian High School graduate, she moved to Bucyrus in 1952 from Perrysburg.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flower arranging and playing bingo.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Crawford County Memory Gardens. The Rev. Richard Abney of Peoples Baptist Church, Mansfield, will officiate.

William J. Stanley
Retired Air Force Sergeant
William J. "Bill" Stanley, 74, of 130 St. Francis Ave., died at 4:25 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2000, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical, Toledo.
Mr. Stanley was born April 6, 1926, in Pomeroy to Joseph and Marie (Campbell) Stanley. He married
Betty L. Walton on July 6, 1951, in Cheyenne, Wy. and she survives.
Also surviving are: two sons, Billy Stanley of Tiffin and Ken Stanley of Bel Air, Md.; three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Debra "Deb") Johnston and Mrs. Walt (Mary) Szablewski both of Tiffin, and Mrs. Richard (Patricia "Pat") Frontz of Show Low, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A brother, Floyd, preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran and retired as an Air Force Sergeant. He also worked for the State of Ohio as a Drivers License Examiner in Port Clinton and Tiffin and for the State Liquor Store in Fostoria and Tiffin for nine years. He was of the protestant faith and a member of Air Force Sergeants.
The Rev. Mark Lafferty will officiate at the 11:30 funeral service Monday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Seneca Memory Gardens where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation hours are 10-11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Johnnie Conley
Carey resident
Johnnie Conley, 70, of 7980 W. CR 59, Carey, died at 1:23 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Carey to Rannie and Maudie M. (Watkins) Conley. He married
Mary A. Beaschler-Heavlin on Jan. 4, 1949, and they were divorced. On Jan. 8, 1971, he married
Lois E. Snook-Collins and she died Nov. 17, 1990. He then married
Barbara J. Allison-Marshall on July 17, 1992, and she survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, John Conley, Jr. of Tiffin, Timothy W. Conley of Deshler and Jon "Chip" Conley of Carey; a daughter, Gloria Baker, of Port Clinton; six step-sons, Namman Eugene Marshall of Arlington, Jeffery Clyde Marshall of Huber Heights, Steve Collins of Mt. Blanchard, Jack Collins of Findlay, Gary Collins of Rudolph and Rick Collins of Deshler; five step-daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Tina) Rall of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Rick (Vickie) Mathern of Carey, Mrs. Greg (Amy) Elchert of Clyde, Mrs. Thomas (Sandi) Marquart of Jenera and Mrs. Allen (Janet) Nye of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Richard Conley of Carrollton and Eugene Conley of Carey.
Preceding him in death were: an infant son, Bobby Conley; and two brothers, Robert Conley (infant) and Donald Conley.
Mr. Conley served in the U.S. Army from 1947-48, stationed part of this time in Panama. He retired from Porcelain Products in Carey in 1993.
A graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Spring Grove cemetery, Carey, with the Rev. Paul W. DeMoss officiating.
A gathering of family and friends for a time of fellowship will be at the Carey V.F.W. Post #3759 at noon.

Miriam Louise Miller
Tiffin resident's sister
Miriam Louise Miller, 78, of Lakeland, Fla., died Friday, July 7, 2000, in IHS of Venice, North Venice, Fla.
She was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Kenton and lived in the Tiffin and Bellevue areas until 1973 when she moved to Florida.
She is survived by three sons, Rev. Steven L. Miller of Venice, Fla., William K. Miller of Elyria, Keith A. Miller of Laramie, Wy.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Zellner of Tiffin and Regina Autullo of Ocala, Fla.
She was a homemaker, member of United Methodist Temple of Lakeland and Cleveland Heights Golf and Country Club.
Funeral services were July 11 in Lakeland, Fla.

Charlotte Rose Seifert

Charlotte Rose Seifert, 62, died at 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2000, at her home at 2800 W. CR 6.
She was born Feb. 8, 1938, in Seneca County, to the late F.L. and Esther (Hohman) Amlin. On Oct. 3, 1959, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married
Robert Seifert, who survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Elizabeth Ann) Gibson of Columbus; two sons, Joseph Robert Seifert of Carey and Daniel D. Seifert of Lima; five brothers, Eugene Amlin of Municie, Ind., Wayne Amlin of Tiffin, Robert Amlin of Fostoria, John Amlin of Sycamore, James Amlin, address unknown and George Amlin of West Chester, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Seifert, a registered nurse, worked in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin's Obstetrics Department for 34 years.
She helped develop and taught childbirth classes for 15 years and was presently working in the Seneca/Wyandot County Prenatal Clinics.
A 1956 graduate of Calvert High School and a 1959 graduate of St. Rita's School of Nursing, Lima, she also was a certified childbirth educator and lactating consultant.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown and the Professional Nurses Club.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with the Rev. Conrad Sutter as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Monday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
