Morris D. Holt
Retired Village Sup't for Bloomville
Morris D. (Buck) Holt, 58, of 17 College St., Bloomville, died Thursday evening, July 6, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Holt was born Aug. 1, 1941, in Bloomville to Clarence and Louvonda (Evans) Holt. On Feb. 25, 1989, he married
Sharon Hemmerly who survives.
Also surviving are: five daughters, Melissa Blaser and Lynda Robinson both of Bloomville, Susanne Pettys and Nicole Holt both of Fremont, and Amy Walker of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jarold and Robert Calvin Holt both of Galion, Firman Holt of Rossford, and Daryl Holt of Dwight, Ill; three sisters, Martha Potts of Marion, Jealea King of Fremont, and Donna Pirrung of Massillon.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Oma Ulmer and Kathryn House; and four brothers, George, Joe, Don and Leroy Holt.
Retiring in November of 1999, Mr. Holt was the Superintendent for the Village of Bloomville; a former manager for the Sears Auto Garage and Store in Tiffin; a 1960 graduate of Bloomville High School; a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Village of Bloomville; a member of the Bloomville United Church of Christ; a CB Radio Sales and Antennae enthusiast using the nickname "Deer hunter;" a "Jack of all Trades;" and enjoyed helping the people of Bloomville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Diane Grohmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
M. Alice Thomson
Retired school librarian
M. Alice Thomson, 75, formerly of Westwood Court, died at 3:43 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at St. Francis Nursing Home.
Mrs. Thomson was born in Seneca County Jan. 15, 1925, to Raymond and Lillian (Burkins). and married
Philip Beatty Thomson July 27, 1945, in Fort Seneca, who died Dec. 24, 1999. A sister, Mary Anita Fleming, is also deceased.
Survivors include: John Philip Thomson of California, and James Raymond Thomson of Arizona; and a niece, Myra Muntz of Swanton.
She graduated from Old Fort High School in 1943; was a homemaker; a retired Old Fort Elementary School librarian; a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women of Ebenezer Church.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Dr. Robert Buckley and the Rev. Scott Hayward officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Frances M. Lonsway
Former New Riegel resident
Frances M. Lonsway, 93, formerly of New Riegel and a resident at Bethany Place for four years, died Friday, July 7, 2000, in Fremont Center.
She was born Jan. 3, 1907, in New Riegel to Jerome N. and Rosa A. (Zoeller) Theis. She married
Herman A. Lonsway in St. Boniface Church May 1, 1928, and he died May 26, 1971.
Survivors include: two sons, John J. Lonsway of Fremont, and Francis A. Lonsway of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Almeroth and Doris O'Connell both of Monroe, Mich.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Catherine M. Burns; three brothers, Alvin, Raymond and Clarence; and two sisters, Laurine Peiffer and Eleanora Dunn.
Mrs. Lonsway was a homemaker; a cafeteria worker at New Riegel school for many years; recently celebrated her 50th year as a member of the Women of the Moose, New Riegel; founding president and member since 1955 of the Rosary and Altar Society at St. Nicholas, Frenchtown; member of the Secular Franciscan Order, and the Catholic Knights of Ohio.
The Fr. Mark Herzog will be the officiant at the services Monday at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following a luncheon at the Sacred Heart, the interment will be at the St. Boniface cemetery, New Riegel.
Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Nicholas, Frenchtown.

Susan Ervilla Huss

Susan Ervilla Huss, 96, a resident of St. Francis Home, formerly of 432 S. Washington St., died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2000, in the Intensive Care Unit of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born June 19, 1904, in Bloomville, to John R. and Olive M. (Mack) Smith. Her husband, Roy L. Huss, whom she married
July 21, 1931, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, died May 18, 1958.
Survivors include: a son, Don E. Huss of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. James (Sue Anne) Kuhn of Tiffin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, Marion, Thomas, William and Robert Smith; and four sisters, Lula Randall, Rena Baker, Leota Doll and Ethel Smith, are deceased.
Mrs. Huss, a homemaker, had formerly been employed as a bookkeeper for Hubach Dairy Co., Tiffin.
A 1922 graduate of Columbian High School, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The Rev. Richard Dunn will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday funeral Mass in St. Francis Home Chapel, 182 St. Francis Ave. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass Tuesday in St. Francis Home Chapel.

William A. 'Salty' Morgart
Former Carey businessman
William A. "Salty" Morgart, 50, of 420 Town St., Fostoria, formerly of Carey, died at 4:13 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2000, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Mich.
He was born June 14, 1950, in Fostoria, to the late Jack K. Morgart and Joan D. (Vogel) Tong. His mother and step-father, Richard E. Tong, survive in Carey. He first married
Susan Powell, and they were divorced. He later married
Heide Roesch and they also were divorced.
Mr. Morgart, a member of the Lutheran Faith, was a Carey businessman and manager of Billy Bob's Saloon in Carey.
An avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, he served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam Era and received two Purple Hearts during his tour.
He also was a member of Earl Green American Legion Post 344 and Black-Lamberjack VFW Post 3579, both of Carey.
A 1968 graduate of Carey High School, he attended Bowling Green State University.
The Rev. Paul DeMoss will conduct the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the veterans organizations..
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Thomas W. Basinger

Thomas W. Basinger, 45, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000, at his home on West Tiffin Street, Fostoria.
He was born Nov. 5, 1954, in Fostoria, to L. Wayne and Clara (Iler) Basinger. His father survives in Fostoria. His wife, Dianne K. (Whitta) Basinger, whom he married
Sept. 24, 1976, in Fostoria, also survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons, Christopher T. and Robert W. Basinger, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Heather A. Basinger of Fostoria; two brothers, John E. and Scott E. Basinger, both of Fostoria; and a sister, Bonnie L. Basinger, also of Fostoria.
His mother is deceased.
Mr. Basinger had worked at Allied Automotive Corp. (now Honeywell Corp.) for 13 years and then was a sprint car racer for eight years. For the past 12 years, he was self-employed at Basinger Auto Specialties in Fostoria.
A 1973 graduate of Fostoria High School, he was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, where the rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Seneca County Hospice or St. Wendelin Education Fund.
Joseph Davis Jr.
Former Tiffin area resident
Word has been received of the death of Joseph Davis Jr., 78, of 1120 Broad St., North, Lehigh Acres, Fla., who died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in Florida.
He was born Jan. 2, 1922, in West Virginia, to Joseph and Lula Davis. On Oct. 19, 1944, he married
Fern Dell Weese. She survives in Florida.
Survivors also include three sons, Timothy J. Davis of Tiffin, Mark A. Davis of Harker Heights, Texas, and Jody Davis of Lehigh Acres; five grandchildren; three brothers, William, Gail and Edward; and a sister, Laverna Davis.
Two brothers, James and Harry; and a sister, Isabelle Zick, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Davis, who had moved to Tiffin in 1956, had been employed at the National Machinery. In 1969, he moved to Florida and retired from the Florida Department of Corrections.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday in the Lehigh Acres Church of Christ.

Callie Mayre Timmons

Callie Mayre Timmons, 77, died at 11:10 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000, at her residence at 422 E. Bigelow St., Upper Sandusky.
She was born May 16, 1923, in West Virginia, to Joseph S. and Mabel (Sheaff) Bonham. On March 21, 1953, she married
Robert F. Timmons. He survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Robert W. (Darlene Sue) Dible of Risingsun, Mrs. Dan (Lois M.) Southward of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Frank (Colleen) Ulery of Marion; a son, Jack L. Timmons of Santa Barbara, Calif.; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hessie Nelson of Troutdale, Va., and Alice Poole of Fries, Va.; and three brothers, Paul Bonham of Winston-Salem, Va., John Bonham of Westminster, S.C., and Victor Bonham of Marion, Va.
A great-granddaughter; a brother, Wayne Bonham; and a twin sister, Hallie Bonham, also are deceased.
Mrs. Timmons, a member of Rock Bridge Baptist Church, Grayson County, Va., retired in 1985 from Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky.
She served in the Women's Army Corps in Virginia during World War II.
Pastor Ted Bonham will conduct the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Upper Sandusky, where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Alma L. Overmyer

Alma L. Overmyer, 84, 1700 W. CR 90, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000, at her home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Tiffin, to Edward I. and Clara Matilda (Albright) Riddle. On April 24, 1954, in Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Tiffin, she married
Gordon E. Overmyer. He survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Alan L. Overmyer of Fremont; two brothers, Gerald Riddle of Columbus and Carl Riddle of Tiffin; and two grandchildren.
Two brothers, Edward and Fred Riddle, and two sister, Stella and Amelia Riddle, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Overmyer, a 1933 graduate of Columbian High School, had been employed as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell in Tiffin for more than 41 years.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott Hayward officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Hazel C Engeman, 93, formerly of rural Green Springs, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2000, in St. Francis Home, where she resided.
She was born Sept. 2, 1906, in Seneca County, to Charles A. and Viola (Chaney) Feasel. Her husband, John J. Engeman, whom she married
April 26, 1926, in St. Andrews Church, rural Bascom, is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, Donald G. Engeman of Green Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Mary Ellen) Birch of rural Green Springs; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a grandchild; four brothers, Charlie, Bliss, Willard and Clifford Feasel; and two sisters, Lula Walters and Dorothy Feasel.
Mrs. Engeman, a lifetime Seneca County resident, was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Republic, and its Altar Society, the RFD Garden Club and the Farm Women's Club.
The Rev. Keith Stripe will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday service in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Tiffin.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today in the Engle-Young Funeral Home, Green Springs.
