James L. Vitte
Retired truck driver
James L. Vitte, 67, of 905 Woodrow Wilson Drive, Fostoria, died at 3:51 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000, at his residence. He was born March 9, 1933, to Frank J. and Goldie (Shupe) Vitte. They are deceased. On April 8, 1951, he married
Alice L. Baker. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Ricky L. Vitte of Helena, James L. Vitte and Jerry L. Vitte, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Woerner of Risingsun; a brother, Richard Vitte of Columbus; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, Frank Jr., Jack, Marvin, Claude and Ronald Vitte.
Mr. Vitte retired in January 1978 after 30 years as a self-employed truck driver with Detroit Pittsburgh Motor Freight. He was a member of Fostoria Assembly Church of God.
The Rev. Charles Jarvis will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Saturday, funeral at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 today in the funeral home.

Carolyn Mae Ingram
Fremont resident
Carolyn Mae Ingram, 53, of 1360 Fleetwood, Fremont, died Thursday, June 8, 2000 at Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born March 21, 1947 to Merritt and Virginia (Franks) Kastor, who are deceased. On July 14, 1987, she married
Harold Ingram. He survives.
Other survivors include: five brothers, Merritt Kastor Jr. of Sandusky, Rolland Kastor of Fremont, Eugene Kastor of Texas, Gerald Kastor of Clyde and James Kastor of Green Springs.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leland Kastor.
Mrs. Ingram was a 1966 graduate of Clyde High School, and employed by the former Singer Controls Co., later Eaton Corp., Fremont, for 25 years until its closing and later at Special Discharge Lighting, Bellevue, for five years, until its closing. She was a former member of Clyde Missionary Baptist Church and the Fremont Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed making crafts.
Friends will be received 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. today at Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde, where services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
Carolyn Ingram
Fremont resident
Additional visitation for Carolyn Ingram, 53, of 1360 Fleetwood Dr., Fremont, who died Thursday will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. today at Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde.
Rev. Joseph T. Beddow
Area resident's father
The Rev. Joseph T. Beddow, 77, of Vanceburg, Ky., died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was born May 18, 1923, to Ice and Clara (Burgan) Beddow. He was married
Jan. 3, 1945, to Rhoda A. McGinnis in Fremont. She died April 18, 1993. His second marriage was to Juanita Conley Stone. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Joseph T. Beddow Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Linda Key-Beck and Clara Shue, both of Fremont; five stepsons, Leonard Stone of Independence, Ky., Gene Stone of Oak Harbor, Clarence Stone of Vanceburg, Ky., Edwin Stone of Morehead, Ky., and Adrian Stone of Maysville, Ky.; four stepdaughters, Ella Everetts of Burgoon, Linda Cooper of Vanceburg, Ky., Leona Moore of Fremont and Nora Cooley of Moorehead, Ky.; a brother, Junior Beddow of Barbourville, Ky.; two sisters, Fannie Hammons of Fremont and Helen Browning of Clyde; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Beddow.
Mr. Beddow retired from General Electric Co. as a security guard. He also founded and ministered for many years the Port Clinton Pentecostal Tabernacle and was pastor for the Pentecostal Church of God in Elmore. A U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II, and member of the Pentecostal Church of God Ministry Association, he attended the Nolen Pentecostal Church of God in Vanceburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont. Burial will be at Greenlawn cemetery, Clyde.
Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The Fremont American Legion and VFW will provide Military Graveside Services.
Thomas Shaarda Jr.
Former Willard resident
Thomas Shaarda Jr., 80, of Celeryville, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. He was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Willard to the late Thomas and Grace Sarah (Wiers) Shaarda. On June 25, 1941 he married
Frances Van Laar. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Gerard T. Shaarda of Naples, Fla., Nelson J. Shaarda of Celeryville and Cody Jon Shaarda of Willard; three daughters, Grace M. Shaarda of Rockford, Mich., Mrs. Francine K. Betts of Plymouth and Sammie Jo Shaarda of Willard; a sister, Mrs. Kathleen Cok of Celeryville; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Beverly Bookwalter.
Mr. Shaarda was a vegetable grower and member of the Willard Christian Reformed Church, and was very active in the church and the Celeryville Christian School. He served as New Haven Township Trustee for 31 years, retiring in January.
The Rev. Len Riemersma will officiate the 2 p.m. Sunday service at the Willard Christian Reformed Church. Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery, New Haven.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Home, 323 Myrtle Ave., Willard.
Memorials may be made to the Celeryville Christian School or Flaming Fire Ministries (Bibles for Africa) through the funeral home.
Dorothy Seem
Fostoria resident
Dorothy Seem, 78, of 246 W. Lytle St., Fostoria, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Fostoria Community Hospital. She was born Jan. 9, 1922, to Russell Edward and Lillian Anita (Williams) Placke. On March 26, 1976, she married
Donald Seem. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, James Edward Campbell of Shadyhook, Ky.; three stepsons, Randy Seem of Georgia, Donald Seem Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., and Tom Seem of Forest; a daughter, Norma Jean Wick of Botkins; five stepdaughters, Vickie Walker of Alabama, Sandra Farmer and Belinda Romig of Georgia, Robin Royster of Michigan and Cathy Feller of Findlay; 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry E. Placke, and a sister, Helen M. Dietrich.
Mrs. Seem was a 1940 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, attended Findlay College and was a member of Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine. She worked as a therapist in nursing homes.
The funeral will be private. Burial will be at Glen Haven cemetery, New Carlisle.
The Mann-Hare Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Clara C. Welter

Clara C. Welter, 90, formerly of 1667 E. SR 18, died at 6:38 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2000, in St. Francis Home.
Mrs. Welter was born April 24, 1910, in Seneca County to Charles and Olive (Houck) Gillig. She married
William N. Welter in St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, and he died Jan. 20, 1960.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Agnes Ann) Heckman of Maumee, and Mrs. William (Mary Jane) Kasuga of Defiance; eight grandchildren; a brother, George Gillig of Columbus; and a sister, Mrs. Richard (Alice) Frey of Tiffin.
Preceding her in death were: two sons, William J. and Richard C. Welter; a brother, Robert Gillig; and a sister, Marie Schwartzmiller.
She was a 1929 graduate of Calvert High School; an instructor of cake decorating and supplies; and was a member of the St. Joseph Church and the St. Joseph Rosary Altar Society.
Rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Monday followed by the funeral mass at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Patrick Rohen officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home where a Wake Service will be conducted at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Alice L. Hoffman
Retired A-T office manager
Alice L. Hoffman, 91, of 24116 Lori Court, Farmington Hills, Mich. and formerly of Tiffin, died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000, in Botsford Hospital of Farmington Hills, Mich.
She was born Sept. 15, 1908, in Tiffin to George and Anna (Beachner) Folkhard. On June 20, 1928, she married
Alva F. Hoffman in Bowling Green and he died April 13, 1988. Mrs. Hoffman had lived in Farmington Hills since 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Dennis G. Hoffman of Farmington Hills, Mich.
In addition to her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Allen (Mary) Jones and Helene Krupp preceded her in death.
She graduated in 1926 from Columbian High School; retired as business office manager at the Advertiser-Tribune; and was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Women's Group of the Church, and the Emblem Club.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with the Rev. Margaret Marks officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the Monday's service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
Steven James Feasel, Jr.
2-month old infant
Steven James Feasel, Jr., two-month old infant of Steven and Judy (Martin) Feasel, Sr., of East Fourth Street, Fostoria, died Thursday, June 8, 2000.
In addition to his parents, other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Nick and Judy Martin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Mark Dunn Sr. of Fostoria and Cindy Dunn of New Port Richey, Fla.; and paternal great-grandparents, Milton and Becky Dunn of Fostoria, and Francis Duffy of Hamden.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fountain cemetery in Fostoria with the Rev. Russell Gumm officiating.
There will be private visitation and memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

William Hogan Stokes
Seneca Wire retiree
William Hogan Stokes, 81, of West Ridge Drive, Fostoria, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
He was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Trenton, N.J., to William Hale and Ellen (Hogan) Stokes. He married
Marie C. Schmitt on May 8, 1943, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Trenton, N.J.
Survivors include: his wife of Fostoria; two sons, William H. Stokes of Avon and Rick Stokes of Bowling Green; four daughters, Marie Hama of North Olmsted, Mrs. Dexter (Eileen) Wilson of Hilliard, Mrs. Donald (Carol) Pahl of Carey; Mrs. Jerry (Joan) Nelson of Fostoria; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Hornyak of Morrisville, Pa., and Eleanor Dunn of Hopewell, N.J.
Preceding him in death were three brothers and a sister.
Mr. Stokes was a 1937 graduate of Morrisville High School, Pa; a 1956 graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa. earning a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering; a U.S. Army Air Corp.; a World War II veteran serving as First Lieutenant in the European Theater; one of few in Seneca County who received the Liberty Medal from the French Ministry of Defense awarded on June 10, 1998; retired in 1968 as a mechanical engineer from US Steel, Cleveland; employed by Seneca Wire and Manufacturing, Fostoria, until his retirement in 1990; a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria Rotary Club, Elks Lodge #935, Fostoria, Wire Association International, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and a former member of Hilltop Club, Fostoria.
Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Monday with the Mass of Christian burial following at St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery where military graveside honors will be conferred by United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, with a Christian wake service at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Auxiliary or St. Wendelin Schools Educational Foundation.
Edward W. Jordan
Railroad retiree
Edward W. Jordan,76, of Old Orchard Drive, Fostoria, died Thursday afternoon, June 8, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Jordan was born June 21, 1923, in Risingsun to William and Lenore (House) Jordan. He married
Genevieve A. Johnson on April 16, 1971, in Fostoria, and she died in February of 1995.
Survivors include: two brothers, Charles and Chet Jordan both of Fostoria; six sisters, Ida Deweese of The Plains, Eleanor Burrows of Haskins, Jeanette Marshall and Joyce Martin both of Columbus, Donna Kirk of Bradner, and Marlene Zallar of Fostoria.
He was an employee of the C & O Railroad and retired in 1985 with over 40 years of service; and a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Fostoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Russell Gumm officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Frances M. Sommer
Retired Health Dept. registrar
Frances M. Sommer, 88, of Pemberville and formerly of Tiffin, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Otterbein-Portage Valley Retirement Village in Pemberville.
She was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Mound City, Mo., to Frank and Pansy (Black) Fuhrman. On Aug. 26, 1931, in Oregon, Mo., she married
Milton E. Sommer who died May 30, 1974.
Survivors include: two sons, Ronald E. Sommer of Woodville, Jerry D. Sommer of Niceville, Fla.; a daughter, Janet E. Shalikashvili of Carlisle, Pa.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Fuhrman of Lima; two sisters, Agnes Snyder of Fostoria, and Mary Lee vonStein of Jenera.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Melburn Fuhrman; and a sister, Doris Fuhrman.
Mrs. Sommer worked as a clerk-registrar for the Seneca County Health Department in Tiffin for 18 years, retiring in 1975; a member of the Woodville United Methodist Church and a former member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Tiffin, a member of the United Methodist Women at both churches, a past president at Ebenezer where she also taught Sunday School.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Otterbein-Portage Valley Chapel, Pemberville, with private interment services in Fairmont cemetery, Tiffin.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to the Woodville United Methodist Church or to Otterbein-Portage Valley.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, Woodville.
Glen A. Hamilton
Tiffin resident's father
Glen A. Hamilton, 92, of 2237 Bazetta Rd., Cortland, died at 7:45 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2000, at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Hamilton was born March 10, 1908, in Waynesburg, Pa., to Benjamin F. and Clara Belle (Hunnell) Hamilton. He married
Geraldine R. Hamilton Aug. 24, 1946, and she survives in Cortland.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. William (Jennifer) Sperati of McDonald, Mrs. Richard (Cynthia) Flechtner of Tiffin; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was employed at the A and P Tea Company as a meat cutter for 30 years; a U. S. Army World War II veteran as a member of the 101st Air Borne; a member of Bazetta Christian Church; and enjoyed gardening and working on genealogies.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bazetta Christian Church with burial in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hall Funeral Home, Warren; and the body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the Monday services.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeast Ohio or to Bazetta Christian Church.
