Maxine L. Sherer
Licensed practical nurse
Former Tiffin resident, Maxine L. Sherer, 84, of 800 Mission Drive, Upper Sandusky, died at 1 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
She was born in Kansas, Ohio, March 21, 1916, to Irvin C. and Bessie (Humbert) Day. Her husband, Don C. Sherer, whom she married
July 18, 1936, in Tiffin, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Dunlap of Upper Sandusky and Betty Ballinger of Marietta; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Leah Sherer, and five brothers, Jack Fox and Willard, Earl, Ernie and Ralph Day, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sherer, a member of the Methodist church, was a licensed practical nurse.
Graveside memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Farewell Retreat cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Marie M. Fate
Former Hossler Construction secretary
Marie M. Fate, 98, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center, 670 E. SR 18, where she was a resident.
She was born in Tiffin, Seneca County, Oct. 3, 1901, to Christian and Mary (Kopp) Wertz. On March 3, 1930, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she married
William M. Fate, who preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1965.
A son, Albert C. Fate, survives in Tiffin.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, William and John Wertz; and two sisters, Anna McFerren and Lena Wertz.
Mrs. Fate, a member of the Protestant Faith, had been employed as an office secretary for Hossler Brothers Construction.
A 1917 Columbian High School graduate, she was a member of the Soroptimist Club.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Greenlawn cemetery, with the Rev. William Smith officiating.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Autumnwood Care Center Freedom Hall or a charity of the donor's choice.

Carol Ann Miller, 60, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at her home at 410 High St., Bellevue.
Arrangements are pending at the Harris Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Naomi L. Staib
Rural McCutchenville homemaker
Naomi L. Staib, 82, 8794 S. SR 53, McCutchenville, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2000, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Wyandot County, to Jacob A. and Myrle (Covert) Margraf. Her husband, Gilbert W. Staib, whom she married
July 3, 1936, died Dec. 31, 1978.
Surviving are five children: Mrs.Urban (Joyce) Heitmeyer of Garland, Texas, Donald E. Staib of McConnelsville, William G. Staib of Carey, Mrs. Brad (Jane) Borer of rural Tiffin and Mrs. Dale (Joan) Wolfe of rural Bucyrus; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Margraf of the state of Washington and Dan Margraf of Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Glen (Marilyn) Stevens of rural Sycamore.
Two brothers, Allan and Clair Margraf; and two sisters, Mrs. Betty Rohrbach and Mrs. Vera Gregg, also are deceased.
A homemaker, Mrs. Staib was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Sycamore and a member of its Alter Rosary Society.
She also served as a sponsor in the RCIA Program at Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.
A former volunteer for Hospice and the Red Cross, she was a 1935 graduate of Sycamore High School.
The Rev. Frank Murd will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday service in St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery, McCutchenville.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
Shelly Ann Heil
Long-time Tiffin resident
Shelly Ann Heil, 33, 149 Franklin St., died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born in Fremont, March 4, 1967, to Terry and Rose (Miller) England, who survive in Tiffin.
Other survivors include: a son, William E. Perkins, at home; a brother, Scott England of Republic; a sister, Mrs. Blase (Stephanie G.) Bruno of Dublin, Ohio; two nieces and two nephews.
An infant daughter, Elizabeth, is deceased.
Mrs. Heil, a 1985 Columbian High School graduate, was employed as a cook at Rose's Soup and Such Restaurant. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
The Rev. Frank A. Murd will be the celebrant at the 10 a.m. Friday funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at the church at 9:45 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Liver Foundation, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Gertrude A. Schatzinger
Former Fostoria homemaker
Gertrude Anna Morehart Scott Schatzinger, 85, a resident of the Gibsonburg Health Care Center, Fremont, for the past three years, died at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont, where she had been a patient for about a week.
She was born in Cleveland Oct. 24, 1914, to Edwin C. and Gertrude Anna (Diamond) Wise. She married
Robert Morehart, and he is deceased. Her second husband, Elza Scott, and third husband, Arden Schatzinger, also are deceased.
Survivors include: three sons, Charles Morehart of Bucyrus, Samuel Morehart of Findlay and Carl Morehart of Sandusky; five daughters, Pearl Bare of Tiffin, Nancy Shaull of Findlay, Lucy Haugh of Old Town, Fla., Cora Garvin of Kissimmee, Fla., and Ada Louise Rock of Fostoria; 36 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Mary Ann Dowdy, and two brothers, Charles Edward "Pete" and William Joseph "Bill" Wise, are deceased.
A homemaker, Mrs. Schatzinger was a member of the Baptist church.
The Rev. Al Wilkes will be the officiant at the 6:30 p.m. service today in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery.
Visitation is 4-6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ronald G. "Ronnie" Earick
Bloomville High School graduate
Word has been received of the death of Ronald Gerald "Ronnie" Earick of Rocky Mount, Va., who died Monday, May 8, 2000.
He was born in Willard to Donald and Virginia May Earick. His mother survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include: his former wife, Carol A. Earick of Moneta, Va.; two daughters, Lisa E. Arthur of Vinton and Gwendolyn S. Earick of Rocky Mount; two sons, Jerry and Andrew S. Earick, both of Moneta; and six grandchildren.
His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Earick, a graduate of Bloomville High School and Tiffin University, had been a foreign accountant/cost accountant for B.F. Goodrich in Akron and controller in cost accounting for Admiral, an associate of UpJohn, for 13 years.
He was presently employed as cost accountant for Doctors Saxon and Angle for the past 13 years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Flora Funeral Chapel, Rocky Mount. Cremation will take place and the ashes brought to Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville.
Visitation is today in the Flora Funeral Chapel.
Virginia Louise Keller
Tiffin native/homemaker
Former Tiffin resident Virginia Louise Keller, 86, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at her residence in Lewiston, Mich.
She was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Tiffin, to John and Marie (Scott) Little. On Nov. 23, 1939, in Toledo, she married
Charles Keller. He survives.
Survivors also include: a son, Michael Keller of Mansfield; two daughters, Mrs. Doug (Sue) Dyer of Mt. Blanchard and Mrs. Glenn (Elizabeth) Reinbolt of Toledo; a sister, Mrs. Tom (Dorothy) Borer of Toledo; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Keller, a homemaker, was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Lewiston, and its Ladies Guild, and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
A Red Cross volunteer, she also was a member of the 50-Plus Club and Nifty Fifties Band.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Francis Catholic Church. Service also will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Steinle officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Tiffin.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church or Hospice of Michigan.
Richard E. Courtad
Upper Sandusky resident
Richard E. Courtad, 73, of 616 N. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, died at the scene of an accident at St. Rte. 30 and Wyandot Co. Rd. 96, Upper Sandusky Wednesday, May 10, 2000. He was born June 27, 1926 to Lorin and Matilda (Enders) Courtad. On Oct. 25, 1945 he married
Eleanor J. Steinbaugh in St. Peter Rectory, Upper Sandusky, she died May 10, 2000 from the same accident.
Surviving include: three daughters, Mrs. Shelagh E. Ellis, Mrs. Kathleen Reile, and Mrs. Marcy A. Rall, all of Upper Sandusky; three brothers, Charles J. Courtad of Carey, Paul K. Courtad and Dale R. Courtad, both of Upper Sandusky; a sister, Thelma McCutchen of Upper Sandusky; seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Kara W. and Merle A. Courtad.
Mr. Courtad was a 1944 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. A licensed broker and owner of Richard E. Courtad Real Estate Agency for the past 44 years, and did real estate appraising. He previously worked for 19 years at the former Chief Dairy and Mid West Tool for 18 years, he retired in 1988. A member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, he enjoyed sitting in the balcony and had served on the Consistory. He was the caretaker of Camp Trinity and St. Peter cemetery, Upper Sandusky. He served as an Upper Sandusky City Councilman for a number of years and was presently serving on the Service Committee as Chairman. A member and past chairman of the Board of Elections for Wyandot County as the Democratic Party Representative. Member of Executive Social and Central Committee of the Wyandot Co. Democratic Party and is a Precinct Central Committeeman. He served since 1988 as Curator of the Indian Mill Museum and worked hard for its preservation. He coached C.Y.O. volleyball for St. Peter School and V.F.W. Little League Baseball for over 20 years, he officiated high school and jr. high basketball and football. He enjoyed bowling and was originator of the RC Invitational Bowling Tournament and secretary of the City Bowling League Association and past president of Karl's Golf Course League. He was also a member of the Upper Rams Booster Club, Moose Lodge and active in the Upper Sandusky Alumni Association.
The Father James Holmer, The Rev. Cathy Wirth and the Deacon William Rall will officiate the 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2000 Christian Funeral Service at the St. Peter Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be at St. Peter Catholic cemetery.
Visitation hours are from noon to 4 and 6-9 p.m., tonight, at the Bringman-Clark & Co. Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Wyandot Co. Hospice; Indian Mill Museum; St. Peter Endowment Fund; and/or the Upper Sandusky High School Gym-New Bleacher Fund.
Eleanor J. (Steinbaugh) Courtad

Eleanor J. (Steinbaugh) Courtad, 74, of 616 N. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, died at the scene of an accident at St. Rte. 30 and Wyandot Co. Rd. 96, Upper Sandusky Wednesday, May 10, 2000. She was born April 21, 1926 to Henry G. and Modest (Rader) Steinbaugh. On Oct. 25, 1945 she married
Richard E. Courtad in St. Peter Rectory, Upper Sandusky, he died May 10, 2000 from the same accident.
Surviving include: three daughters, Mrs. Shelagh E. Ellis, Mrs. Kathleen Reile, and Mrs. Marcy A. Rall, all of Upper Sandusky; five brothers, Howard, Richard, Allen, Ray and Edwin Steinbaugh; seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Miller.
Mrs. Courtad was a 1944 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School and a homemaker. She had worked at the Labor Department in Washington, D.C. during WW II. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the former Artz Department Store and the former Warfel Coal Company, both in Upper Sandusky. She was a Notary Public and assisted her husband in the real estate business. She enjoyed spoiling her children and grandchildren and her hobbies were: crossword puzzles, collecting cardinals and swans.

Elizabeth Charlotte Strawman

Elizabeth Charlotte Strawman, 87, of West Ridge Dr., Fostoria, died at 11:20 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2000 at Sterling House in Bowling Green. She was born May 14, 1912 in Rising Sun to Willard and Ada (Day) Dalton. On Oct. 14, 1939 she married
Charles E. Strawman in Risingsun, he died on July 12, 1987.
She is survived by: a son, Dr. John W. Strawman of Bowling Green; and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by: two sisters, Velma Rees and Lois Dalton; and two brothers, Rolland and Hubert Dalton.
Mrs. Strawman taught music at Bettsville and Fremont City Schools and later at Lowell Jr. High School in Fostoria for many years. A member of King's Daughters and the Wesley United Methodist Church of Fostoria.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday and an hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.

Cynthia Mae Kidwell
Burgoon resident
Cynthia Mae Kidwell, 43, of 2231 CR 23, Burgoon, died at 3:10 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2000 in the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. She was born December 20, 1956 to Carl and Willa M. (Robinson) Sauls, both parents have passed away. On Sept. 28, 1999 she married
Kevin Kidwell, he survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Samantha Brakeville of Tiffin.
Mrs. Kidwell was a homemaker.
The Rev. Virgil Cole will officiate the Private Funeral Services today. Burial will be at Fairmont cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
