Donato Monaco
Tiffin Foundry retiree
Donato Monaco, 76, 303 Clay St., died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy, July 23, 1923, to Bartolomeo and Bambina (Autullo) Monaco. His wife, Carmella (Guarnairi) Monaco, whom he married
Jan. 10, 1948, in Bartolomeo, survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Anthony Monaco of Tiffin and Bartholomew Monaco of Rossford; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Rose Patuto and Giovanina Curiale.
Mr. Monaco, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, retired as a caster/shipper from the Tiffin Foundry, where he had been employed for 29 years.
He also was a member of Tiffin Eagles 402.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:15 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:45 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Visiting Nurses Association, Community Hospice Care, T.B. and Health Association Inc., the church or the donor's choice.
Catherine E. Meyers
Bellevue G.E. Plant retiree
Catherine E. Meyers, 93, of 159 Walnut St., Bellevue, died Monday, April 24, 2000, in the Bellevue Hospital.
She was born June 21, 1906, in North Auburn, to Frank and Anna (Yaeklin) Eberl. On Nov. 27, 1923, she married
Ralph Meyers, who died in 1960.
Surviving are two sons, Al and Robert L. Meyers, both of Bellevue; a sister, Agnes Miller of Shelby; a brother, Frank Eberl, also of Shelby; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Meyers, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue, retired from the Bellevue G.E. Plant many years ago.
Also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, she enjoyed gardening.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial following in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Barbara R. Place
Mother of Tiffin resident
Barbara R. Place, 77, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, in Roselawn Manor, Spencerville.
She was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Danville, to William and Rosa (Hammond) Durbin. On Feb. 24, 1943, she married
Ned W. Place, who survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Kattman of Whitefish Bay, Wis., Mrs. Aaron (Cynthia) Hossler of Tiffin, Mrs. John (Stephanie) Frederick of Worthington and Mrs. Mark (Mary) Henry of Auburn, Ind.; a son, Milton J. Place of Medina; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Place, an elementary school teacher for 27 years, taught in the Wapakoneta City Schools, the Mt. Gilead Schools and the Tiffin Schools.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Auglaize County Retired Teacher's Association and the A.A.U.W. and the Woman's Club, both of Tiffin.
A graduate of Ohio Northern University with a bachelor's degree in education, she later received her master's degree from Bowling Green State University.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Peter Chiodo officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Amanda cemetery, Auglaize County.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, where a prayer service will be at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Ohio Northern University, College of Education.
Helen Elizabeth Gary
Fostoria native
Helen Elizabeth Gary, 93, of Missoula, Mont., formerly of West Tiffin Street, Fostoria, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Hunter's Glen Hospice Care, Missoula.
She was born in Fostoria Nov. 5, 1906, to Frank and Elizabeth (Schiefer) Serfoss. Her husband, Henry H. Gary, whom she married
Feb. 6, 1927, in Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, died Sept. 28, 1991.
Surviving are three sons, Frank R. Gary of Los Alamitos, Calif., Dr. Henry H. Gary Jr. of Missoula and Dr. Jeffrey D. Gary of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Patricia) McGinnis of Bowling Green; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Mergenthaler of Fostoria; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a step-grandchild.
Mrs. Gary, a homemaker, also worked as a cost accountant at Union Carbide (now National Electric Carbon) in Fostoria, prior to her marriage.
A 1924 Fostoria High School graduate, she was a life-long member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, its Women's Society and Hope 60 Club; the Silver Cross Circle of King's Daughters and the Fostoria Coin Club.
The Rev. Carl Kessler will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Hope Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Memorials may be made to the church.
James P. Fetterman
Atlas Inc. retiree
James P. Fetterman, 65, died at 11:06 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2000, at his home at 1204 42nd St., Fostoria.
He was born in Leechburg, Pa., Nov. 24, 1934, to the late Clarence A. and Mae ((Bagley) Fetterman. His wife, Germaine (Beck) Fetterman, whom he married
in September 1957, in Vandergrift, Pa., died in 1983.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert J. Fetterman of Fostoria and Timothy R. Fetterman of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Anna Mae Ferguson of Sarver, Pa., a brother, Carl A. Fetterman of West Leechburg; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A son, Steve Fetterman; and a brother, Robert L. Fetterman, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Fetterman, a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, retired in 1988 from maintenance at Atlas Inc. (now TKA Atlas) in Fostoria.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, American Legion Post 73, VFW Post 421 and Eagles Club 430, all of Fostoria.
A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside rites will be provided by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, where Eagles memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin High School Athletic Department.
Ralph R. Hemminger
Retired Seneca County farmer
Ralph R. Hemminger, 75, of 8628 W. CR 18, Fostoria, died at 5:22 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Seneca County, to Roy and Flossie (Nederhouser) Hemminger. On March 23, 1947, in Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria, he married
Jewel A. Myers. She survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: two sons, Stephen R. and Robert L. Hemminger, both of Tiffin; a sister, Thelma Rhoad of Fostoria; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Ronald and Erlin Hemminger; and a sister, Betty Bethel, are deceased.
Mr. Hemminger, a retired Seneca County farmer, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Korean Conflict.
A 1943 graduate of Jackson High School, Amsden, he was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 73 and VFW Post 421, all of Fostoria.
The Rev. Carl Kessler will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Marjorie Karns Bishop
Wife of former Tiffin resident
Marjorie Karns Bishop, 73, of Bowling Green, died Sunday morning, April 23, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Holgate, to David and Pearl (Geahlen) Hill. She married
Walter W. Karns May 31, 1947. He died July 29, 1977. On June 27, 1981, in Bowling Green, she married
Ted Bishop, formerly of Tiffin, who survives.
Other survivors include: children, Mrs. Dave (Jane) Shively of Westhope, Mrs. Ed (Martha Bishop) Neuman of Athens; Barb Hiser of Weston and John Bishop of Grand Rapids; and six grandchildren.
A grandson, Ben Shively, also is deceased.
Mrs. Bishop, a 1944 graduate of Bowling Green High School, worked for Dr. Manhardt in Bowling Green for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, past president of Ladies Auxiliary Paul C. Ladd Post 1148 VFW and a charter member of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 2180, Bowling Green.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Peinert Funeral Home, Tontogany, with the Rev. Dale Shafer officiating.
Visitation will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where VFW Auxiliary services will be at 8.
Robert F. Neikirk
Bellevue native
Robert F. Neikirk, 73, of 1007 Hillcrest Drive, Ashland, died Sunday evening, April 23, 2000, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Bellevue July 31, 1926, to Lawrence R. and Pearl (Zeckman) Neikirk. On July 14, 1946, he married
Irene Covert, who survives.
Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Karen Ann) Strine of Fort Myers, Fla., and Mrs. Carl (Jerrilyn Kay) Beasley of Jeromesville; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma M. McDonald of Elyria and Beverly O'Connell of Clyde.
Mr. Neikirk, a resident of Ashland since 1958, had been employed at Ashland Pump and Supply, where he served as president, retiring in 1987.
Following his retirement he worked as an estimator for M.W. Robinson Co. of Wooster for a number of years.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Harry Higgins Post 88 and a former member of the Ashland Rotary Club.
The Rev. Sanford Mitchell and the Rev. Robert Pflueger will be the co-officiants at the 11 a.m. Friday service in Trinity Lutheran Church of Ashland. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park, where the Ashland County Joint Veterans Council will participate in military graveside services.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home, 313 Center St., Ashland.

E. M. Manasco
Clyde Whirlpool retiree
E.M. Manasco, 76, of 135 Atwood Terrace, Bellevue, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in the Bellevue Hospital.
He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Nauvoo, Ala., to Eric Masters and Myrtle (Wilson) Manasco. He married
Geneva Postell Dec. 25, 1953, in Fulton, Miss. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Manasco of Bellevue; two daughters, Mrs. Hal (Martha Gail) Bradberry of Haleyville, Ala., and Mrs. David (Teresa Diana) Soldano of Bellevue; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a brother, Carlos "Red" Manasco of Danville, Va.; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Manasco, who went to Bellevue in 1948 to work in the Akron Candy Co., began work at Clyde Whirlpool Feb. 16, 1953. He retired July 30, 1987.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, with the Rev. Richard Oliver of Providence Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Vivian L. Miesle
Fostoria homemaker
Vivian L. Miesle, 77, of Woodward Ave., Fostoria, died at 3:31 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, in the Fox Run Manor Nursing Home, Findlay.
She was born in Fostoria Dec. 16, 1922, to Robert L. and Tappath E (Harris) Weaks. On May 8, 1961, in Leavenworth, Kan., she married
Richard U. Miesle. He died Dec. 31, 1983.
Survivors include: a son, Thomas R. Cooper of Fostoria; two daughters, Cindy L. Cooper and Diana L. Miesle, both of Fostoria; two stepsons, Tom Miesle of Woodville and Rick Miesle of Toledo; a sister, Doris Smith of Fostoria; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Bradley Cooper; a daughter, Diana Cooper; a grandchild; and three brothers, Robert, Gerald and Paul Weaks.
A homemaker, Mrs. Miesle was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria.
The Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite will be the officiant at the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and two hours before the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family for disbursement at a later date.
Webb C. Dicken
Bettsville native
Webb C. Dicken, 78, of Columbus, formerly of Elmore, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Mount Carmel East Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Bettsville, to Webb and Pearl (Mowery) Dicken. He married
the former Eileen Ohl in 1961. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Survivors include: a daughter, Nancy Lares of Columbus; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Steve and John P. Dicken, both of Tiffin.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Dicken.
Mr. Dicken, a graduate of Bettsville High School, attended Bowling Green State University. He was a lab supervisor at the J.E. Baker Co., Millersville, where he had worked for 32 years, retiring in 1982.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 77th Infantry, he was a member of American Legion Post 279, Elmore; VFW Post 1278, Bellevue; Brainard Lodge 336 Free and Accepted Masons, Fremont, and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo.
Services were Saturday in the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Interment was in Union cemetery, Elmore.
