The Rev. Dr. William A. Janson Jr.
Former Tiffin First English Lutheran pastor
The Rev. Dr. William A. Janson Jr., 77, of 314 Newport Lane, Phoenixville, Pa., died Thursday evening, April 13, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Oberlin, Pa., to the Rev. William A. and Helen (Brehm) Janson. His wife, Dr. Margaret "Margie" (Gemmill) Janson survives in Phoenixville.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. William (Sandra) Spengel of Chester Springs, Pa.; a son, William A. Janson III of Horsham, Pa.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Meerbach of Estero, Fla.
Dr. Janson, a graduate of William Penn High School, York, Pa., received his bachelor of arts degree from Susquehanna University; a bachelor of divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pa.; and a master's degree and doctorate in Christian education from Union Seminary and Teachers College at Colombia University.
The Jansons were residents of Estero and Cape Coral, Fla.,for 14 years before recently locating to Phoenixville..
He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and he and his wife volunteered as ticket takers for the Grapefruit League.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Phoenixville.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Phoenixville. Burial will be private in the Augustus Lutheran Church cemetery, Trappe, Pa.
Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will take place at 7 p.m. May 10 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Main Street and Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, Pa.

Hestor F. Black
National Machinery retiree
Hestor F. Black, 86, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at his residence at 2727 E. TR 122.
He was born July 11, 1913, in Tiffin, to Harry and Hazel (Smith) Black. On July 3, 1937, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married
his wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Seislove) Black, who survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, William L. Black of Perrysburg and Gary L. Black of Tiffin; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Black retired from accounting after 25 years of employment at National Machinery. He also served in the Civil Conservation Corps fighting forest fires in California 1931-32.
A 1931 Columbian High School graduate, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Quarter Century Club of National Machinery and Moose Lodge 713, Toledo, of which he was a lifetime member.
He also was an avid horseshoe player and a member of the National Machinery Bowling League.
The Rev. William Rose will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. April 24 funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church., where the rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Tiffin, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Vernon H. Konst
Farmer/electrician
Vernon H. Konst, 71, 69 Bobb St., died at 10:57 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, where he had been a patient since Saturday.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., March 19, 1929, to Clarence and Ruby (Koch) Konst. His wife, Marjorie (Farver) Konst, died Dec. 14, 1984.
Surviving are four children, Thomas Konst of Carrollton, David Konst of Bellevue, Verna Stiltner of Green Springs and Louise Polak of Bellevue; his fiancee, Donna Prenzlin; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank, Terry and Ronald Konst, all of Bellevue; and a sister, Sally Williams of Berlin Heights.
Mr. Konst, a farmer, had been employed as an electrician/consultant with Lewis/NASA for 25 years in Sandusky. He also worked at Davis-Besse.
A Bellevue High School graduate, he was active in the Boy Scouts and a member of the American Legion and Tiffin Moose.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.
Services will be at a later date. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Parkinson Foundation or the Humane Society.

Lucille L. Fruchey-Devore
Fostoria Fuse Signal retiree
Lucille L. Fruchey-Devore, 85, of North Towne Street, Fostoria, died at her home Sunday afternoon, April 16, 2000.
She was born in Paulding County, Oct. 3, 1914, to John and Flossie (Davis) Fruchey. She married
Ross Lee in August 1931, in Angola, Ind. and they were divorced. She later married
Claude Devore Sept. 11, 1970, in Fostoria. He died March 26, 1987.
Survivors include: a stepson, Don Devore of Fostoria; two sisters, Maude Cattell of Findlay and Lorene Vogel of Inverness, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Clarence Fruchey, and a sister, Irene Fruchey.
Mrs. Devore, who attended the First United Brethren Church, Findlay, retired in 1979 from the Fostoria Fuse Signal Co.
The Rev. Gene Clark and the Rev. Ted Doolittle will be the co-officiants at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Paul E. Frankart

Paul E. Frankart, 84, 686 S. Sandusky St. Lot 78, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born in Seneca County, Oct. 21, 1915, to Louis J. and Mary A. (Collins) Frankart. His wife, Margaret (Daniel) Frankart, whom he married
Feb. 18, 1939, in St. Mary Catholic Church, died June 10, 1984. He later married
Doris Erwin in Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She died in February 1993.
Survivors include: three brothers, Louis Frankart of Tiffin, Thomas Frankart of Pittsburgh, Pa., and James Frankart of Findlay; his special friend, Mary Hunt of Lancaster; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son, Michael Frankart; two daughters; and two brothers, Bernard and Richard Frankart, also are deceased.
Mr. Frankart, a dairy farmer, retired in 1977 as a polisher from the former General Electric Co.
A 1935 graduate of Calvert High School, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Calvert High School, the church or ALS in memory of Michael Frankart.
Ernest A. Miller
Clyde Whirlpool retiree
Ernest A. Miller, 82, of Midvale Avenue, Clyde, died at his residence Monday, April 17, 2000.
He was born in Clyde Feb. 21, 1918, to Ernest Aaron and Grace (Snyder) Miller. On June 17, 1939, he married
Norma Cloud. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Robert A. Miller of Clyde, Gerald C. Miller of New Haven, Ind., and Jeffrey R. Miller of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Gregory (Rhonda) Miller and Mrs. John (Susan) Baker, both of Clyde; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
An only child, he was preceded in death by an infant son.
Mr. Miller, who received his education in the Clyde schools, retired in 1982 as a machine repairman from Clyde Whirlpool Corp. after 27 1/2 years.
He also served as a fireman for the City of Clyde for 37 years, retiring in 1997. During World War II he worked at Plumbrook.
A former member of Clyde Senior Citizens, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Vacationland Travelers Club, of which he was an 18-year member; Clyde Eagles, of which he was a life member; and the Woodmen of the World.
The Rev. Steve Wood will conduct the 11 a.m. Thursday service in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde. Interment will be in Bakertown cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, where Eagles services will be at 6:30 p.m. and Firemen services at 6:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Hospice, South Main Street, Clyde, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Patricia Fern Eaton

Patricia Fern Eaton, 66, a resident of Charles Meadows Apartments, 545 W. Market St., formerly of 147 Tomb St., died at 11:29 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.
She was born in Owings, W.Va., Nov. 23, 1933, to Sandusky Wash and Elizabeth A. (Hall) Jones. Her mother survives. On March 6, 1974, in Cleveland, she married
Robert F. Eaton, who preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1985.
A sister, Mrs. David (Julia) Hall of Danville, Va., also survives.
Her father is deceased.
Mrs. Eaton, a high school graduate, was a homemaker and a member of Women of Moose Lodge 846.
The Rev. William Smith will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Thursday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Daniel Joseph Scharf
U.S. Navy-retired
Daniel Joseph Scharf, 65, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at his residence at 3474 Stuart Road, Fostoria.
He was born in Tiffin, Aug. 12, 1934, to Maurice and Helen (Fox) Scharf. His mother survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: two sons, Sgt. Maurice Scharf with the U.S. Army in Texas and James Scharf of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Danette Marie Scharf; and a grandson.
His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Scharf retired in 1995 as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy, after 22 years of service.
A 1952 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Tiffin University.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria; the Life Fleet Reserve Association and the Disabled American Veterans.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veteran's of Fostoria..
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where the rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be amde to the American Heart Association and St. Wendelin Church and schools.
James E. Malone
Retired electrician/businessman
James E. Malone, 66, died between 11 a.m. and noon Monday, April 17, 2000, at his home at 2118 TR 119.
He was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Tiffin, to James and Pauline (Adams) Malone. His mother survives in Tiffin. His father and his step-father, Walter Beard, are deceased. His former wife, Judy (Kuhn) Swerlein also is deceased.
Other survivors include: four sons, Michael James, Rex J. and Chris H. Malone, all of Tiffin and Todd Richard Malone of Kissimmee, Fla.; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; three half-brothers, Paul Beard of Lakeside and Donald Beard of Fremont; and Ed Beard of Oak Harbor..
He also was preceded in death by a half-brother, Ralph Beard; and a 1-year-old sister, Frances.
Mr. Malone, a businessman, was a retired electrician and also had worked at Atlas. He had taught school at West Junior High School in Tiffin.
A U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, he was a graduate of Heidelberg College.
The Rev. Virgil Cole will conduct the 10 a.m. Thursday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. The United Veterans Council will have military services at the funeral home following the service.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Infant twin daughters
Arika Lynn and Emily Jo Heyman, infant twin daughters of Barry and Lori (Bigley) Heyman, 418 Clinton Ave., were stillborn, Emily at 7:07 p.m. and Arika at 7:13 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
Survivors include: two siblings, Britani Arbogast and Cheyanne Heyman, both of Tiffin; and grandparents, John and Betty Heyman, Helen Heyman, Gary Bigley and Edward and Sylvia Tyree, all of Tiffin.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation will be one half hour before the service at the funeral home Thursday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
