Wilbur E. (Bus) Hall
American Standard Company Retiree
Wilbur E. (Bus) Hall, 83, of 311 W. Seventh St., Box 55, Sycamore, died at 9:35 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at Sunrise at Shawhan in Tiffin. He was born Feb. 17, 1917 to Cecil and Hazel (Havner) Hall. On Oct. 9, 1937 he married
Garland G. Von Blon, and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Thomas E. Hall of Fort Wayne, Ind., and James K. Hall of RR#, Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Levans of Fremont, and Mrs. Karen Fowley of Temperance, Mi.; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were: a son, Keith Hall; two brothers, Lawrence and Paul Hall; and a sister, Doris Wells.
Mr. Hall is a 1935 graduate of Sycamore High School. He retired as a modeler at American Standard Company after 37 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, former member Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department and was on the original squad of the Sycamore EMS. He served as Sycamore Village Councilman for 23 years, also very active in the bowling, dartball and horseshoe leagues in Sycamore and loved to hunt.
A Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 9, 2000 at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge cemetery at a later date.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or Sunrise at Shawhan, Tiffin.
Herman G. Smith
Dairy farmer
Herman G. Smith, 73, of 590 W. Twp. Rd. 90, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at his residence.
Mr. Smith was born April 26, 1926, in Tiffin to Ralph F. and Leona T. (Steinmetz) Smith. He married
Gertrude A. Gerten on April 10, 1948, at St. Boniface Church.
His wife survives along with five sons, William V. and Donald F. of Tiffin, James A. of Texarkana, Texas, Raymond L. of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Norman P. of Plano, Texas; four daughters, Barbara A. Smith of Cincinnati, Mrs. Mark (Patricia M.) Towns of Columbus, Mrs. John (Nancy) Wallace of Logan, and Mrs. Charles (Liona) Maluzzi of Arlington, Va.; 18 grandchildren; three brothers, Paul E. and Joseph C. of Tiffin and Victor C. of Republic; five sisters, Mrs. Flavius (Irene) Steinhauser and Theresa Walliser of Tiffin, Sr. M. Bonaventure, OSU, Toledo, Mary Alice Bouillion of New Riegel, and Sr. Ann Regina, OSU, of Bryan.
He was predeceased by a twin infant sister and a granddaughter, Rebecca Leigh Smith.
He was a 1944 Calvert High School graduate; in the Army; a self-employed dairy farmer; a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Farm Bureau; former board member of Rural Serv; St. Joseph cemetery Board, St. Joseph Credit Union; 4-H leader, usher at St. Joseph Church; former Calvert Band Boosters president; active in bingo at St. Joseph Church for many years as well as an active blood donor.
Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. James Say officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at the church 15 minutes prior to the funeral mass.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph School Tuition Assistance Fund, Calvert Foundation, or to the Community Hospice Care of Tiffin.
Eugene G. Reinhart
St. Francis Home resident
Eugene G. Reinhart, 96, formerly of 6 Fostoria St., died at 2 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2000, in the St. Francis Home.
He was born May 19, 1903, in Big Springs Township, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Uphaus) Reinhart. On Sept. 16, 1930, at St. Wendelin in Fostoria, he married
Lois J. Findley who died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (June Marie) Riha of Costa Mesa, Calif; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harvey of Houston, Texas.
Preceding him in death were: five brothers, Herman, Richard, Bernard, Gordon and Robert; and three sisters, Emma Logsdon, Isabel Shirley and Mollie Nye.
Mr. Reinhart was a tool and die maker at Eaton Corporation in Cleveland where he retired in 1969. He also worked part time at Diversatool, Tiffin; enjoyed woodworking and playing euchre. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, St. Vincent DePaul, AARP and Allen Eiry Senior Citizen Center.
The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral mass at 12 noon Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Dunn will officiate with burial in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home where a wake service will be at 6 p.m..
Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin.
Robert E. Stearns
Fostoria resident
Robert E. Stearns, 58, of 5049 Eagleville Rd., Fostoria, died at 9:40 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2000, in Flower Hospital.
Mr. Stearns was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Fostoria to Clyde E. and Helen S. (Myers) Stearns. He married
Lana Lee and they separated.
Survivors include: his wife of Fostoria; his mother of Fostoria; companion, Beverly A. Hallman of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. William (Lori A.) Kentris of Fostoria, Mrs. Donald (Kimberly A.) Galloway of Clyde and Mrs. William (Michelle L.) Bowen of Risingsun; eight grandchildren; two brothers, David L. of Bloomdale and Dale A. of Tiffin; and two sisters, Mrs. Douglas (Donna J.) Siegle and Mrs. James (Barbara A.) Turley, both of Fostoria.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Mr. Stearns was a 1960 graduate of Fostoria High School; president of Precision Carbide Die, Inc. of Bloomdale where he had been involved in tool and die work since 1975; Union United Methodist Church, Fostoria; and Duck's Unlimited.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, with Pastor Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will be in "Emma Pillars Garden of Memory" of Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Union United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mabel J. Drake
Fostoria seamstress
Mabel J. Drake, 90, of Kiwanis Village, Findlay, died at 1:42 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.
She was born Dec. 17, 1909, in Mansfield, to Enoch and Lucy (Lee) Busick. She married
Ernest Drake on June 29, 1941, in Fostoria and he died Feb. 5, 1965.
Surviving are: two sisters, Leona Wagner and Dell Busick, both of Defiance; two nephews, Paul S. Busick of Nashville, Tenn. and David L. Busick of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and a niece, Lois C. English of Bakersfield, Calif.
A son, David, and a brother, Ralph Busick, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Drake was a 1930 graduate of Findlay High School; attended Arcadia United Methodist Church; and retired in 1980 as a seamstress in the Fostoria area.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. James C. Ritchey II officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Pauline K. Sparks
Fostoria resident
Pauline K. Sparks, 84, formerly of 521 Sandusky St., Fostoria, died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.
She was born Oct. 8, 1915, to Clarence and Mabel (Amos) Bolen. On June 25, 1941, she married
Ernest Sparks in Fostoria and he died in 1972.
Surviving are: two sons, Ernest W. and Robert J., both of Fostoria; two grandchildren; a brother, Edward Garland of Toledo; and a sister, Bernice Houghtaling of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Doral and Harold Young; and two sisters, Marian Kimes and Helen Nanteufful.
Mrs. Sparks retired in 1972 after 36 years of service from the Ford Motor Co., now Honeywell. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Fostoria.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Dale E. Neller officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery near Arcadia.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
Estie Adams
Republic resident
Estie Adams, 81, of E. Twp. Rd. 148, Republic, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Medical College Hospital, Toledo.
She was born May 5, 1918, in Stella, Ky. to James and Julia M. (McIntyre) Dunn. She married
Arley Adams on Sept. 24, 1938, in Greenwich and he died June 25, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Joe Adams of Bellevue; six daughters, Greta Dick of Tiffin, Janice Vargo of Norwalk, Virginia Sanderson of Clyde, Glenda Smith of Fremont, Patricia Nation of Cologne, Germany, and Avis Kreais of Dublin; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mollie Simpson of Ashland.
Preceding her in death were a grandson, Barry Hensley; two brothers, Richmond and Omer Dunn; and a sister and brother in infancy.
She was employed at the former Tiffin State Hospital/Development Center as a theraputic program worker retiring in 1981; a 40-year member of the Bellevue Assembly of God; the Huron Valley Quilt Club; volunteered at Fish and Loaves; and enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bellevue Assembly of God with the Revs. Tim Davis and Dave Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Bishop Seibert cemetery at Flat Rock.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Brenda K. Evans
MAPA Pioneer retiree
Brenda K. Evans, 49, of Green Bush Road, Willard, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, in MedCentral Medical Center, Mansfield.
She was born Nov. 2, 1950, in Kenton to Mount and Eileen (Dysert) Hall. She married
Robert E. Evans in Willard, he survives.
Also surviving are her father of Attica; a son, Robert S. Evans of Willard; a daughter, Cindy Lynn Evans of Willard; a brother, Steven Hall of Willard; four sisters, Susan Short of Plymouth, Pamela Stowe of Laughlin, Nev., Cathy Perry of Rome, Penn., and Laurie Thomas of New Washington.
Her mother preceded her in death.
Mrs. Evans was employed at MAPA Pioneer, Willard, for 27 years retiring in 1999; a member of United Baptist Church, Willard; and enjoyed gardening.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, Willard, with the Rev. James Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, New Haven.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be directed to the church.
Jana L. Stever

Jana L. Stever, 41, of 142 East Brown Ave., Carey, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, at her residence.
She was born to Ronald and Shirley (Cole) Ratzmann in Martinez, Calif. on Jan. 28, 1959. She married
Harold "Jr." Stever in August of 1980, and they were divorced.
Survivors include: her father of Fremont; her mother and step-father Daniel Stover of Carey; a son, Jason H. Stever of Carey; maternal grandmother, Helen Cole of Carey; a sister, Mrs. Gary (Stacy) Clark of Findlay; two half-sisters, Vicky (Risner) Tanguay of Carey and Colleen Ratzmann of Fremont; and a niece.
Her maternal grandfather, Harvey Cole, is deceased.
She graduated in 1977 from Put-in-Bay High School, South Bass Island; worked at Reigle Foods in Carey; a laborer at Dana Corp/Continental Hose in Upper Sandusky; was of the Protestant faith; and enjoyed cross stitching and playing Nintendo.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Paul W. DeMoss and Vicar Patty Heath officiating. Intermet will be in the Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Wilbur D. Shaull
U.S. Postal Service retiree
Wilbur D. Shaull, 84, 342 Ninth Ave., died at his residence at 3 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000.
He was born March 27, 1916, in Loudon Township, to William D. and Rose S. (Kimmet) Shaull. On July 28, 1938, in St. Wendelin Parish, Fostoria, he married
Marguerite G. Snyder, who survives.
Also preceding him in death were a son, William D., and two sisters, Genevieve Yates and Zenith Hiser.
Mr. Shaull, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
Paul S.F. Smith
Oberlin Processing retiree
Paul S.F. Smith, 39, 1692 W. SR 18, Lot 16, died at 11:22 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2000, in the Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born in Tiffin, July 25, 1960, to Jason F. and Geraldine (Heintz) Smith, who survive in Tiffin. His wife, Linda F. (May) Smith, whom he married
in 1975, also survives.
Other survivors include: five daughters, Mrs. Shawn (Tammy) Taulbee and Mrs. Dan (Shelly) Bulkowski, both of Tiffin; Kelly, Pam and Jackie Smith, all at home; a son, Jason P. Smith, also at home; five sisters, Sylvia, Lynn and Candy Smith and Mrs. David (Kim) Weaver, all of Tiffin, and Cheryl Smith of Fostoria; a step-brother, Paul David Smith of Fostoria; two step-sisters, Mary Bryant of Tiffin and Sarah Sweet of Florida; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Smith, a member of Moose Lodge 846, retired from Oberlin Processing, where he was employed as manager and truck driver.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with Deacon Lee A. Brock officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Infant daughter
Donna J. Newsom, infant daughter of Jason T. and Melody (Mulvane) Newsom, of 411 Lawrence St., Bellevue, was stillborn Friday, April 7, 2000, in Firelands Community Hospital, Sandusky.
Surviving are her parents; maternal grandparents, Gary D. and Linda Jean Mulvane of Bellevue; paternal grandfather, Ted Newsom of Bellevue; maternal great-grandmother, Ada Thornsberry of Kentucky; paternal great-grandparents, Jean Delaney of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Tom and Delise King and Dave Perkins, all of Portsmouth, and Marie King of Tennessee.
Preceding her in death were two siblings, Jeremy T. and Hunter Newsom, and paternal grandmother, Donna Newsom.
Visitation will be private. Graveside services will be conducted in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, with the day and time pending.
