Floyd Washington Burks
Long-time Sycamore resident

Word has been received of the death of Floyd Washington Burks, 89, of Fort McCoy, Fla., who died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at the home of his niece, Ruth Murdock, following a long illness.

He was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Upper Sandusky, to George and Ida (Vent) Burks. In 1931, he married Blanche Roberts. She died in 1974.

Surviving are three sons, Harlan "Dave" Burks of Plain City, Keith Burks of Leesburg, Fla., and Wayne Burks of rural Upper Sandusky; three daughters, Maxine Hannam of Sycamore, Mrs. Wayne (Marilyn) Holzwart of rural Upper Sandusky and Mrs. J.C. (Bonnie) Sharrock of Grand Rapids, Ohio; 28 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, William and Robert; and three sisters, Alice Newland, Helen Boggess and Wanda Stone, also are deceased.

Mr. Burks, a member of the former Belle Vernon E.U.B. Church, retired from Swan Rubber Co. in Bucyrus after more than 30 years of service.

He spent most of his life in the Sycamore area.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Sycamore United Church of Christ, South Sycamore Avenue, with the Rev. John Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View cemetery.

The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Mohawk Historical Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Allan L. Morgan
Clyde Whirlpool retiree

Allan L. Morgan, 61, 8 Gail Lane, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born in Richmond, Ind., Sept. 12, 1938, to Howard and Frances (Wilson) Morgan. His mother survives in Tipp City. His wife, Loretta (Turco) Morgan, whom he married Dec. 31, 1960, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, also survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Craig (Monica) Sauber of Tiffin; a son, Mark Morgan of Tiffin; a brother, John Morgan of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Nancy Smith of Englewood, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

His father is deceased.

Mr. Morgan, a U.S. Army veteran, worked as a laborer at the former General Electric in Tiffin and retired from Clyde Whirlpool Corp.

A 1956 graduate of Columbian High School, he was a member of Masonic Lodge 77, where he served as past master. He also coached Little League baseball and football.

The Rev. Frank A. Murd will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Friday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where Masonic Lodge services will be at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church, the family or a charity of the donor's choice.

Myron W. Shaffer
Clyde Whirlpool employee

Myron W. Shaffer, 52, of 8371 E. TR 178, Green Springs, died at 10:45 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2000, in the Bellevue Hospital, where he had been a patient for a day.

He was born in Fremont Sept. 23, 1947, to the late Myron Shaffer and Janice (Schell) Searcy, who survives in Fairborn. He married Lena Deel, June 3, 1967, in Clyde. She survives.

Survivors also include: three children, Mrs. Thomas (Cheryl) Lynch of Green Springs, Tammy Shaffer of Tiffin and Terry Huffman, also of Green Springs; two grandchildren; a brother, John Shaffer of Fremont; and two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Sandy) Barnes of Gallatin, Tenn. and Mrs. Michael (Patricia) McCombs of Arvada, Colo.

Mr. Shaffer, a 1967 Fremont Ross High School graduate, was employed at Whirlpool Corp., Clyde Division.

A resident of the Green Springs area for 30 years, he was a member of the Fremont Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs, with the Rev. Rick Provard officiating. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Liberty Center, in care of the Engle-Young Funeral Home.

Pearl May Sigler
Former New Riegel homemaker

Pearl May Sigler, 92, formerly of 3356 W. TR 92, New Riegel, died at 6 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2000, in the Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born July 9, 1907, in Wyandot County, to Levi and Zuletta B. (Corfman) McLaughlin. On Sept. 16, 1939, in Nevada, Ohio, she married Robert L. Sigler. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John F. and Wayne O. Sigler, both of rural New Riegel.

Preceding her in death were three brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Sigler, a homemaker, was a member of the World Wide Church of God, Findlay.

A graduate of Eden High School, Wyandot County, she attended Findlay College for a year and Bowling Green State University for a year. She taught school in Nevada and Mifflin Township in Wyandot County.

Charlie Riffle will conduct the 1 p.m. Thursday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Veronica C. Wallace
Retired homemaker

Veronica C. Wallace, 84, formerly of 193 S. Monroe St., died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2000, in St. Francis Home.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., July 15, 1915, to Stanley and Helen (Kowalski) Slusarz. Her husband, Thomas Wallace, died in 1972.

Survivors include: a daughter, Linda Reamer of Bowling Green; and two grandchildren, Joshua Reamer of Bowling Green and Jenny Reamer of Boston, Mass.

A homemaker, Mrs. Wallace was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Private graveside services were Wednesday in Mount Carmel cemetery, Toledo, with the Rev. Joseph Przybysz of St. Hedwig's Parish, Toledo, officiating.

There was no visitation. The Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Toledo School for the Arts, 425 Jefferson Ave., Toledo, Ohio.

Ruby M. Strausbaugh
Cygnet homemaker

Ruby M. Strausbaugh, 94, who had resided with her son, James, at 4577 Huffman Road, Cygnet, died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Findlay.

She was born in Cygnet Feb. 22, 1906, to John A. and Clara E. (Wirick) Dennis. On Oct. 21, 1931, she married Stanley M. Strausbaugh. He died March 1, 1992.

Surviving are a son, James E. Strausbaugh of Cygnet, and a great-grandchild.

Also preceding her in death were: a brother, Harley L. Dennis, and a sister, Mary E. Credicott.

Mrs. Strausbaugh was a homemaker.

The Rev. Richard E. Wilkin will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday service in the Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore. Interment will be in Weaver cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ward Allen Creeger
Retired G.E. foreman

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Holy Family Chapel at St. Francis Health Care Centre, Green Springs, for Ward Allen Creeger, 90, a resident of the Centre, who died there Monday, March 20, 2000. Sister Anthony Marie Valdez and Juanita Magers, pastoral assistant, will officiate.

His body was donated to the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Health Care Centre of Green Springs.

The Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs is in charge of arrangements.

John W. Matz
Resident of Republic

John W. Matz, 80, of 5120 N. TR 78, Republic, died Wednesday morning, March 29, 2000, at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. He was born June 3, 1919, to Ralph and Carrie (Metzger) Matz. On April 16, 1950, he married Dorrine Hedges. She survives.

Other survivors include: a brother, Paul Matz of Green Springs; and a sister, Georgia Hanover of Elmhurst, Ill.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Marjorie Manbeck.

Mr. Matz was employed at Clay Distributing Co. in Attica as a tanker truck driver for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 37th infantry in the South Pacific. He was a 1938 graduate of Thompson High School, a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Fireside, a 50-year member of the Hildreth Lodge 165 F&AM of Republic, Cornelia Chapter 93 O.E.S. of Republic, member of Zenobia Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Toledo, Thompson Ruritan Club, Tiffin Shrine Club, and a member of Wade Benfer American Legion Post 404 in Republic.

The Rev. Candy Thomas will officiate the 2 pm. Sunday service at the Zion United Church of Christ in Fireside. Burial will be at Fireside cemetery.

Visitation hours will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SRt 19, Bloomville, with Masonic services at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church or to the Hildreth Lodge 165 F&AM.

Harry E. "Buck" Foist
Tiffin Metal Products retiree

Harry E. "Buck" Foist, 69, of 1301 W. Woodland Ave., formerly of Bloomville, died Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2000, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo after a short illness. He was born Oct. 6, 1930, to Harry and Gladys Marie (Hunt) Foist. On May 26, 1951, he married Bernita M. Hart at the Bloomville United Church of Christ. She survives.

Also surviving are: two daughters, Cathy M. Stover of Bloomville and Patricia A. Foist of Tiffin; two grandchildren; a brother, Virgil R. "Jack" Foist of Melbourne, Fla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Nadine Gates of Bloomville and Mrs. Barbara Jacoby, both of Bloomville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Brown.

Mr. Foist retired from Tiffin Metal Products in 1976 as a supervisor, and he was also a former employee of American Standard. He lived in the Bloomville area until 1974, when he moved to Tiffin. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Tiffin V.F.W. 2858 and the D.A.V. of Tiffin. He was also a member of the Military Order of the Cootie, Pup Tent 52, of Tiffin and the Sycamore American Legion Post 250.

The Rev. Diane Grohmann will officiate the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, Bloomville. Burial will be at the Woodlawn cemetery.

Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret Anna Bish
General Electric Co. retiree

Margaret Anna Bish, 89, of 182 Francis Ave., formerly of 545 W. Market St., died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in the emergency room of Tiffin Mercy Hospital. She was born May 20, 1910, to Nicholas and Clara (Trausch) Siebenaller. On May 27, 1935, she married Carl S. Bish in Fremont. He died Aug. 13, 1964.

Surviving are: three sons, Eugene Bish of Pensacola, Fal., and Charles and Lester Bish, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Werling and Mrs. Janet Robenalt, both of Tiffin, and Barbara Leirer of Lynn Haven, Fla.; a brother, James Siebenaller of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two stepdaughters; a stepson; 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were: a stepson; a sister, Mary Jane Swander; five brothers, Donald, Carl, Raymond, Richard and Paul Siebenaller.

Mrs. Bish graduated from high school and worked for the General Electric Co. and retired in 1972 after 25 years of employment. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Seneca Rose Grandmothers Club.

The Rev. James K. Say will officiate the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation hours are 4-7 tonight at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Francis Home or to the charity of the donor's choice.
