Kenneth B. Knox
Retired U.S. mail carrier
Former 3341 Baird Road, Fostoria, resident, Kenneth B. Knox, 87, of 1416 Fostoria Ave., Findlay, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born in Sweden, N.Y., Feb. 4, 1913, to William and Electa (Buterbaugh) Knox. His wife, Patricia C. (Lunsford) Knox, whom he married
June 30, 1951, in the First United Methodist Church, Fostoria, survives in Findlay.
Survivors also include: two sons, Kenneth A. Knox of Plantation, Fla., and John W. Knox of Ashland; two daughters, Betsy C. Saddler of Bowling Green and Anita G. Guzman of Fostoria; a brother, Glen Knox of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Linda K. Knox; two brothers, Donald and William Knox; and a sister, Helen Fittro.
Mr. Knox, a long-time farmer and Arabian horse breeder, retired in 1968 after 33 years of service as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Fostoria. He also worked at Union Carbide, Fostoria.
A 1931 graduate of Fostoria High School, he attended Union United Methodist Church, rural Fostoria; and was a member of Fostoria Elks Lodge 935, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans and the Arabian Horse Association.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He served in Italy, France and Germany.
The Rev. David Bliss and the Rev. Gus Christo-Baker will be the co-officiants at the 1 p.m. Saturday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Fostoria Community Hospital.
Evelyn I. Walton
Rural Upper Sandusky homemaker
Evelyn I. Walton, 78, of 9294 CH 124, Upper Sandusky, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2000, at the intersection of US 23 and CR 121, Upper Sandusky.
She was born July 1, 1921, in Crane Township, Wyandot County, to Joel G. and Maude (Courtad) Smalley. On Feb. 20, 1941, in Emanuel United Church of Christ, Upper Sandusky, she married
Herbert A. Walton. He died June 25, 1996.
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon R. Park of Marion, Mrs. Lynn (Brenda) Rothlisberger and Janis M. Evans, both of Upper Sandusky; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Allen L. Walton; two sisters, Ruth Heistand and Jessie Castanien; and four brothers, Virgil, Leo, Earl and Frederick Smalley.
Mrs. Walton, a homemaker, also assisted on the family farm.
A 1939 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, she was a member of Union United Methodist Church, Eden Township, Upper Sandusky, where she was active, and its Women's Missionary Society and Hospital Guild.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, flowers and helping her grandchildren with 4-H projects.
The Rev. Sonja Bender will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Sunday service in Union United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Union United Methodist cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, and at the church one hour prior to the service Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the church or Gideons International.
Robert Wayne Higgins Sr.
Vanlue Grain/Supply retiree
Robert Wayne Higgins Sr., 57, died mid-morning Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at his residence at 14479 Wyandot CR 3, Carey.
He was born in Wyandot County, May 24, 1942, to Troy and Della (Caldwell) Higgins. His mother survives in Carey. He was married
to Constance Wilcox. They were divorced.
Other survivors include: five sons, Terry, Bryan and Rob Jr. Higgins, all of Carey, Greg Higgins of Findlay and Gary Higgins of Douglasville, Ga.; a daughter, Patricia Tate of Findlay; 13 grandchildren; five sisters, Maggie Luzader, Thelma Duffield, Mona Taylor and Opal Morrison, all of Carey, and Mrs. Robert (Ann) Schalk of New Riegel.
He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, John, Lacy and Grover Higgins, who died in infancy.
Mr. Higgins, a member of the Baptist faith, retired from the former Vanlue Grain and Supply Co. in Vanlue.
A 1960 graduate of Carey High School, his hobby was woodworking.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Ezra Moore officiating. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a local Diabetes Foundation or the Dorcas Carey Public Library.
Fannie B. Leeth
Former Marseilles homemaker
Fannie B. Leeth, 92, formerly of Marseilles, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2000, in the Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky, where she had resided for the past two years.
She was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Auglaize County, to Clyde and Alice (Plummer) Sproul. Her husband, Virl Leeth, also is deceased.
Survivors include: a son, Lester Leeth of Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren,. Larry, Dave and Joyce; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Russell Sproul of Waynesfield.
Four brothers, Everett, Leonard, George and Franklin; and four sisters, Blanche, Lois, Elizabeth and Wanda, also are deceased.
Mrs. Leeth helped her husband on their farm in the Marseilles area. She enjoyed collecting antiques.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in LaRue cemetery, LaRue, with the Rev. John Hoover officiating.
Visitation will be noon-1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.
Memorials may be made to the Marseilles Fire Department.
Grace L. Bonham
Homemaker
Grace L. Bonham, 98, formerly of 8609 E. TR 106, Bloomville, died Wednesday morning, March 15, 2000, in the Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard, where she had resided for the past two years.
She was born April 14, 1901, in Ashley, Ohio, to Albert and Gertrude (Curren) Main. She married
James H. Bonham Dec. 22, 1919, in Delaware County. He died Jan. 5, 1977.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Bonham of Attica and Richard Bonham of Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Leah) Vick of Bloomville, Dorothy Ohl of Bucyrus and Paula Smith, also of Bloomville; 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four sons, Dennis, James, Elwin and Gerald "Sonny" Bonham; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Violet Smith and Nellie Getty.
A homemaker, Mrs. Bonham had lived in the Bloomville area most of her life.
Graveside services will be Friday morning in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville, with the Rev. Gary Hicks of the Bloomville United Methodist Church, officiating. A memorial service will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the family, in care of the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, which is in charge of arrangements.
Brenda L. Smith
Hairdresser/Tiffin native
Brenda L. Smith, 55, of 400 N. Main St., Fostoria, died at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2000, in Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Tiffin Dec. 6, 1944, to the late Harold W. and Marietta (Unverferth) Smith.
A brother, Douglas L. Smith of Fostoria, survives.
Miss Smith, a licensed hairdresser for more than 30 years at Marietta's Beauty Salon, also operated the House of DuBre in Fostoria and worked at Sally's Beauty Supplies Store in Findlay.
A 1962 St. Wendelin High School graduate, she graduated in 1963 from beauty school in Cincinnati.
A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

Rita Mary Miller
Republic resident
Rita Mary Miller, 79, of Reed Twp., Republic, died at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2000 at Mercy Hospital of Willard. She was born Nov. 24, 1920 to the late John and Monica (Brobst) Elmlinger. On August 24, 1946 she married
Leon J. Miller, who survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Leon H. and Eugene C. Miller of Attica, and Gerald C. Miller of Republic; a daughter, Sister Ritamarie Miller of Toledo; nine grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother, The Rev. Msgr. Herbert Elmlinger of Fresno, Calf.; and three sisters, Sister Lillian Elmlinger of Villa Maria, Penn., Mrs. Margie Wilhelm of Monroeville, and Mrs. Flossie Doughty of Norwalk.
Five brothers &emdash; Herman, Charles, Edward, John, and Charles Elmlinger &emdash; and two sisters &emdash; Sister Rosanne Elmlinger and Mrs. Estella Shank &emdash; an infant daughter, Monica, and an infant son, Allen Miller, are deceased.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker, child care provider and worked at Rotary Printing Company in Norwalk. She was a member of Reed Assumption Church and the Rosary Altar Society of the Church, Attica T.O.P.S. and a Hospice volunteer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2000 at Reed Assumption Catholic Church with The Rev. John M. Nagele officiating. Burial will be in the Reed Assumption cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Linsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Home, Attica, with a Rosary Service being held at 8:30 tonight.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Alex J. Skitowski
U.S. Air Force Retiree
Alex J. Skitowski, 64, of 110 Gail Lane, Tiffin, died at his home at 7:47 a.m., Thursday, March 16, 2000. He was born March 19, 1935 to Alexander J. and Antonina (Buburowski) Skitowski Sr., both deceased. On May 24, 1958, he married
Joyce A. Wcislak, and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Michael Skitowski of Curtice and Marc Skitowski of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Debra Janczak of Toledo and Teresa Campbell of Toledo; a sister, Natalie Barabask of Toledo; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Skitowski was a graduate of Toledo University and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years working in personnel. He served in Vietnam, and the Korean Conflict and at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton.
His memberships included: V.F.W. 2858; B.V.A. (Blind Veterans Administration); Polish National Alliance (P.N.A.) and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The Rev. James Say will officiate the 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2000 funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home, Tiffin. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m., Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Grace Bonham, 98, former Bloomville resident, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000 at Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Graveside services will be held Friday morning, at 11 a.m., Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville. The Rev. Gary Hicks of the Bloomville United Methodist Church will officiate.
There will be no visitation, but a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home in Bloomville is in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond J. Wilhelm

Raymond J. Wilhelm, 79, of 124 Wentz St. died at 12:07 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2000, in Lucas County.
Mr. Wilhelm was born June 24, 1920, in Seneca County to John and Margaret (Desch) Wilhelm. He first married
Genevieve Caruso and she died in 1983. He then married
Rose (Troxell) Windau in St. Mary's Church, Tiffin, on Jan. 25, 1986, and she survives.
Also surviving are: five daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Diana) Hollis of Willoughby, Mrs. Richard (Denise) Kirchner of Huber Heights, Mrs. Steven (Debra) Smalley of Carey, Mrs. David (Darlene) Bauer of Columbus, Mrs. Todd (Donna) Hefner of Tiffin; two stepsons, Steven Windau of Tiffin, Jeffery Windau of Peachtree City, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Darrell (Karen) Mann of Littleton, Colo., Brenda Pisani of Copley, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five brothers, Bill, John, Donald, Karl and Gene, all of Tiffin; four sisters, Sister Mary Beth Wilhelm of Fond-du-Lac, Wis., Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Rippinger and Mrs. James (Alice) Rippinger, both of Aurora, Ill., and Mrs. Emmett (Dorothy) Droll of Fostoria.
Two brothers, Paul and Robert, are deceased.
He graduated from Calvert High School in 1938; a World War II Army veteran; was a self-employed carpenter; a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin Moose Lodge #846, Eagles Aerie #402, V.F.W. #2858 and AmVets 348.
The Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with the funeral mass following at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Frank Murd and the Rev. Richard Dunn will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home with a Wake Service at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, St. Mary's Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
John E. Doneghy, Jr.
Tiffin resident
John E. Doneghy, Jr., 87, of 83 Kensington Ave., died at 1:35 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 5, 1912, in Louisville, Ky. to John E. and Maggie (Smith) Doneghy. He married
Georgia Mims on Aug. 1, 1948, in Chicago, they were married
for 51 years.
Along with his wife, other survivors include: three sons, Judge Charles Doneghy and Albert of Toledo, Dennis of Mansfield; four daughters, Anita Jenkins of Colorado, Joan Woods of Toledo, Alberta Doneghy of Tiffin, Shelia Magers of Bucyrus; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Reginald and Dwayne; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Norman.
Mr. Doneghy was a graduate of Toledo High School and a demolition contractor.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with burial in the Seneca Memory Gardens.
A one-hour visitation period will be prior to the service at the funeral home.
