Helen Catherine Cooper

Helen Catherine Cooper, 63, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2000, at her residence at 5283 Marion-Melmore Road, Sycamore, following an extended illness.
She was born in Cincinnati, Dec. 28, 1936, to the late Watt I. and Bessie E. (Stratton) Bloomfield. On July 14, 1951, she married
George E. Cooper. He died May 8, 1999.
Surviving are 10 children, Danny Cooper of Bucyrus, Floyd and Thomas Cooper, both of Jackson, Joyce Fuller, also of Bucyrus, Patty Wallin, Phyllis Stone, Glenda Pierce and Carolyn Lambert, all of Garrison, Ky., Brenda England of Sycamore and Edwina Aurand of Bloomville; 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Iva Jean Cooley of Petersville, Ky., Cardella Clark of Vanceburg, Ky., and Eula Bloomfield of Sulphur Springs, Ohio.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Linda Cooper; a son, Lloyd Cooper, three brothers, William, Clarence and Renford "Bud" Bloomfield; and six sisters, Darlene, Emma Jane, Shirley, Mary, Gladys and Thelma.
A homemaker, Mrs. Cooper lived most of her life in Kentucky, moving to Ohio in September 1998.
The Rev. Jack Lambert and the Rev. Wes Cooper will be the co-officiants at the 11 a.m. Tuesday service in the Sullivan Funeral Chapel, Garrison, Ky. Burial will be in Cooper-Willis cemetery, Garrison.
Visitation at the Sullivan Funeral Chapel, is 5-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service.
The Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, is in charge of local arrangements .
William Arlo Lawrence
Cooper Tire & Rubber retiree
William Arlo Lawrence, 72, of Dunkirk, died at 10:22 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1927, in Hardin County, to Roy D. and Gladys (Blust) Lawrence. His wife, June (Douglas) Lawrence, whom he married
Sept. 13, 1947, in McGuffey, Ohio, survives in Dunkirk.
Other survivors include: three sons, Jack Lee Lawrence of Dunkirk, Robert H.A. Lawrence of Findlay and William D. Lawrence of Kenton; a daughter, Mrs. John (Linda Marie) Butcher of Dayton; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Lawrence; and two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Mildred) Sanders of Alger and Mrs. Harold (Mary) Murner of Bremerton, Wash.
Three sisters also preceded him in death.
Mr. Lawrence, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Co., after 23 years of employment.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Findlay; and VFW Post 8832, Roundhead.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Price Funeral Home, Dunkirk, with Bishop Craig Parker officiating. Burial will be in Dunkirk cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the West Central Ohio Kidney Foundation or the Diabetes Foundation.
Karis K. McBurney
Fostoria homemaker
Karis K. McBurney, 90, of Fostoria, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, March 12, 2000, at her home.
She was born in West Independence Nov. 1, 1909, to Jacob and Cora (Hottle) Krabill. On June 5, 1963, in Maryland, she married
James E. McBurney. He died Aug. 30, 1985.
Survivors include: a son-in-law, John Bradley of Laguna Hills, Calif.; two grandchildren, John Bradley Jr. of Portland, Ore., and Elin Bradley of Ojai, Calif.; and a great-grandson, Benjamin.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Marilyn Bradley.
Mrs. McBurney, a homemaker, was a graduate of Fostoria High School.
She was a member of the PPSEAWA Club of Toledo, Smithsonian Institute, Fostoria Women's Club, the Historical Society and the International Institute of Greater Toledo, where she had served as a board member.
Her caregivers were Cyril and Mary Ellen Gosche of New Riegel.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Union cemetery, West Independence, with the Rev. Roy B. Howell officiating.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Rosemary C. Verhoeven

Word has been received of the death of Rosemary C. Verhoeven, 82, who died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in Phoenix, Ariz., where she had resided for the past 54 years.
She was born in Tiffin.
Surviving are three daughters, Ann Helstrup, Patricia Dawson and Rosemary Laman; two sons, Bernard P. and Paul; a step-sister, Wilda Ehrenfried; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Feb. 10 in the Whitney & Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix.
A funeral Mass was Feb. 11 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, Phoenix, followed by interment in St. Francis cemetery.

Joan H. Kuebler, 89, died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2000, at her residence at 194 Riverside Drive. Arrangements are pending at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Russell S. Sargent
Brother of local resident
Word has been received of the death of Russell S. Sargent, 71, of Alpine, Texas, who died at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in the Alpine Hospital.
He was born Nov. 21, 1927, to the late Virgil and Anna (Struss) Sargent. He was divorced.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Sargent of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four brothers, Roger Sargent of Fort Wayne, Ind., Quentin and Roy Sargent, both of Fife Lake, Mich. and Ladd Sargent of Grand Prairie, Texas; two sisters, Joyce Fedele of Lima and Iris Abbott of Tiffin; and his special friend, Elsa Paul of Alpine.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Dale; and a sister, June Fretter.
A 1945 graduate of Vaughensville, Ohio high school, he served two tours of duty in the U.S. Navy and went on to graduate from the Allied Institute of Technology in Chicago, with a degree in engineering.
He worked in Texas and Arizona and retired in Alpine. He was a philosopher who loved inventing and writing.
Mr Sargent donated his body to science and a memorial service will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
Paul J. Williams
Retired plant engineer
Paul J. Williams, 90, formerly of 654 E. Sherwood Court, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2000, in St. Francis Home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1909, in Tiffin, to Roy and Maude (Meyers) Williams. On July 3, 1937, in Oakland, Md., he married
Estella Jacob, who preceded him in death Aug. 5, 1982.
Survivors include: three children, Gary D. Williams of Oriental, N.C., Sten A. Williams of Richardson, Texas and Jan L. Williams of Greenville, S.C.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Jesse Williams of Tiffin; and three sisters, Carol Williams Hersh Chaney and Dorothy Williams Eakin, both of Tiffin and Pauline Williams Heebsh of Roseville, Mich.
A daughter, Paula J. (Williams) Cowie, also is deceased.
Mr. Williams, who at the age 13 began working at the United States Glass Co. (later Tiffin Glass), trained as a mold maker, and ultimately became plant manager.
He was one of a group who purchased the glass plant and re-started it as Tiffin Art Glass Co. Following a long career with Tiffin Glass he worked as a consultant to the building of a high lead crystal plant for Princess House.
A Columbian High School graduate, he attended Heidelberg College and a technical school. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Tiffin Elks 94, where he was a 60 year member and a past exalted ruler; Tiffin Masonic Lodge 77 and the Tiffin Glass Collectors Club, where he was an active member.
A docent at the Seneca County Museum, specializing in educating visitors about the glass collection in the museum, he did volunteer work and through fund-raising efforts he supported both the Tiffin Boy Scouts and the Betty Jane Center. Also as a young man he worked with the Tiffin Boy Rangers.
He and his wife, were founding members of the Tiffin Cotillion Club.
The Rev. David M. Culp will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Florence Hendricks Radebaugh

Florence Hendricks Radebaugh, 93, of 1200 Croy Drive, Findlay, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2000, in St. Catherine Care Center, Findlay.
She was born in Carey, Nov. 16, 1906, to Samuel H. and Elizabeth (McKee) Clark. She first married
Orville Hendricks on Oct. 17, 1923. He died Nov. 19, 1939. Her second husband, Fred V. Radebaugh, whom she married
June 10, 1950, died Feb. 19, 1954.
Surviving are: two sons, Robert W. Hendricks of rural McCutchenville and Raymond J. Hendricks of rural Carey; a step-son, Byron Radebaugh of Illinois; two step-daughters, Mrs. James (Mary Ann) Waaland of Findlay and Mrs. Clayton (Lorene) Oman of rural Arlington; 18 grandchildren and numerous great- great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three sons, Clyde E., David M. and Leland R. Hendricks; a step-son, Robert Radebaugh; three daughters, Mary Louise Hendricks, Virginia Nichols and Reita Cramner; a grandson; 11 brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Radebaugh retired from the former LaSalle's Deparatment Store in Findlay.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with the Rev. David A. Hendricks officiating. Interment will be in Lee cemetery, Vanlue.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Guadalupe Diaz, 47, died Monday evening, March 13, 2000, at her home at 255 E. Sixth St., Fostoria.
She was born in Fostoria, June 29, 1952, to the late Epifanio G. Diaz Sr. and Maria C. (Cepeda) Diaz-Hernandez, who survives in Fostoria. She was formerly married
to Nicholas S. Malagon.
Other survivors include: her step-father, Eusebio Hernandez of Fostoria; two daughters, Corina S. and Jessica A. Malagon, both of Fostoria; a son, Alexander R. Malagon of Fostoria; three grandchildren; nine brothers, Alfredo Diaz of Fremont, Epifanio Jr., Mario A., Jesus, Ricardo, Juan and David, all of Fostoria, Ruben and Jose L. Diaz, both of Dallas, Texas; and two sisters, Rosa Maria Haman of Huntington, W.Va. and Debra Lynn Diaz of Fostoria.
A brother, Rodolfo Diaz, also is deceased.
Mrs. Diaz, a 1972 graduate of Fostoria High School, had been an inspector at the Roppe Corp. where she had worked for 20 years.
She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and its Guadalupe Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Bernice A. Kimes
Home economics teacher
Bernice A. Kimes, 89, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in St. Catherine's Care Center, 25 Christopher Drive, Fostoria, where she resided.
She was born in Kansas, Ohio, July 15, 1910, to William A. and Sarah Delilah (Finkenbinder) Wolf. On July 16, 1950, in Fostoria, she married
Elwood G. Kimes. He died Jan. 22, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Howard M. "Mike" Kimes of Springfield, Va.; two brothers, Clayton Wolf of Fostoria and Kenny Wolf of Amsden; three sisters, Leona A. Fruth of Arcadia, Ida Blanche Barton of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Evelyn Gray of Grand Rapids; and five grandchildren.
A sister, Thelma "Sunny" Fruth, also is deceased.
Mrs. Kimes, a homemaker, also taught home economics at Old Fort High School and worked at the Union Carbide in Fostoria during World War II.
She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and played a major role in the preservation of the Old Risdon Town Square.
A graduate of Kansas High School, where she served as class valedictorian, she attended Bowling Green State University.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Jeffrey Waite officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
