Emma M. Gase
(1934 - 2004)

MONCLOVA - Emma M. (Bermingham) Gase, 70, of Monclova, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at her residence.
Born March 13, 1934, in Williams County, to Bertha (Trausch) and William H. Bermingham, she married Herman Gase and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, she is survived by her children, Mrs. Gary (Sandy) Reinhard of Waterville, Randy (and wife, Joyce) Gase, Don Gase and James Gase, all of Monclova, Bill (Mary) Gase of Bowling Green and Mrs. David (Lori) Grice of Monclova; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Goebel of Edgerton; and mother-in-law, Clarene Gase.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a granddaughter, Kayla Gase.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-9 p.m. in the Masion-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Maumee. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

Mary F. Hoffman
(1915 - 2004)

MONTPELIER - Mary Frances Hoffman, 89, of Montpelier, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, June 5, 2004, at her home.
Born Feb. 17, 1915, at West Terre Haute, Ind., to Elizabeth Jane (Kennedy) and James Franklin Barr, she married Frank A. Hoffman and he preceded her in death in August 1989.
A Montpelier area resident since 1945, she was a graduate of Valley High School in West Terre Haute and a 1933 graduate of Indiana State University.
A retired junior high English teacher, she had taught for a number of years at the Kunkle building of North Central Schools and the Superior building of Montpelier Schools.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Montpelier, the Bridgewater Ladies Aid and for several years she was a liaison between senior citizens groups and the Office of Aging in Toledo.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Susan) Pignataro of Defiance and Mrs. David (Margaret) Lee of Hamilton, Ind.; two stepsons, Frank (and wife, Evelyn) Hoffman Jr. of Mentor and Bill (LaDonna) Hoffman of Coldwater, Mich.; six grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 21 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Hoffman in 1965; a stepgrandson, Larry Winright; a brother, Kenneth Barr; and a sister, Margaret Blakely.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Montpelier, with Pastor John Cilley to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.

Harold D. McKarns
(1928 - 2004)

MONTPELIER - Harold D. McKarns, 76, of Montpelier, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.
Born Feb. 4, 1928, at  Jefferson Township, Williams County, to Clela Alta (Grim) and Clarence McKarns, he married Wanda L. Faber on July 1, 1951, at the Zion Lutheran Church, and she survives.
A 1946 Montpelier High School graduate, he was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
A self-employed carpenter, he was a member of the State of Ohio American Legion, the Zion Lutheran Church in West  Jefferson, the Montpelier Moose Lodge and the Bryan Eagles. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. John (Debra) Greene of Chester, Vt., and Mrs. Dusty (Lisa) Weisz of Montpelier; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Sarah, Zachary and Cooper Greene and Cody and Austin Weisz; and a brother, George (and wife, Eleanor) McKarns of Montpelier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Faye and Agnes McKarns and Grayce Drake; and two brothers, Lee and Chester McKarns.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jeffrey D. Bischoff to officiate. Burial will be in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan, with graveside military rites to be held.
Memorials may be made to Williams County Cancer Assistance or to the Zion Lutheran Church.

Richard O. Youse
(1935 - 2004)

EDON - Richard O. Youse, 69, of Edon and formerly a longtime resident of Bryan, died Saturday evening, June 5, 2004, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. following an extended illness. Born June 6, 1935, at Bryan, to Mable (Pitman) and Frederick William Youse, he married Jane L. Newman on June 4, 1971, at Bryan, and she survives.
Employed by the City of Bryan Water Department until his retirement in 1971, he was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1957 until 1961.
He was a former member of the Bryan Eagles and was a member of the Edon United Methodist Church and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kristine Mae (and fiancŽ, Stan Grimm) Youse of Edon, and a sister, Joann Lumm of Hawthorne, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Martin Youse.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Eric Dailey to officiate. Burial will follow in the Edon Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Edon American Legion Post 662.
Memorials may be made to the Edon United Methodist Church or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Marion E. Mejer
(1920 - 2004)

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Marion E. Mejer, 83, of South Bend, Ind., died June 3, 2004, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan, Ohio. She had lived with her daughter until she became seriously ill.
Born Sept. 17, 1920, at Toledo, Ohio, to Sarah Elizabeth (Hodgson) and Marvin A. Jewett, she married Vince F. Mejer and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1991.
A retired office manager, she was a member of St. Joseph Church in South Bend, St. Patrick Church in Bryan, Ohio, the Genealogy Society and DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). She is survived by two sons, Robert Mejer of Quincy, Ill. and Vince Mejer of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter, Barbara (Mejer) Velleman of Bryan; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret (Jewett) Hullinger of South Bend, Ind.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and Monday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Funeral Home in South Bend.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in South Bend. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Osceola.
Memorials may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or to the family c/o St. Joseph Funeral Home, South Bend, Ind.

Daniel H. Lockhart
(1948 - 2004)

ANTWERP - Daniel H. Lockhart, 55, of Antwerp, died suddenly Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Paulding County Hospital, Paulding.
Born Sept. 16, 1948, at Clarksburg, W.Va., to Marguerite (Cox) and Carl L. Lockhart, he married Sandra M. West on Jan. 2, 1971, and she survives.
Employed as a mixer truck driver at Irving Ready Mix, Fort Wayne, Ind., for seven years, he had also worked at Johns Manville in Defiance and The Aro Corporation in Bryan. A Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines as a Lance Cpl., he was a member of the Antwerp VFW Post 5087.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marguerite and Paul Traxler of Hicksville; a daughter, Heather Quintanilla of Antwerp; sons, Shane of Payne and James of Paulding; six grandchildren; and a sister, Diana McCalla of Safety Harbor, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Monday at 10 a.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home in Antwerp.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Ramey to officiate. Burial will be at Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp, with military honors performed by the Antwerp VFW Post 5087.
Memorials may be made to Big Horn Baptist Church, Big Horn, Mont., or to the Woodburn Children's Home, Woodburn, Ind.
