Jessie I. Castanien, 96, of TH 59, Upper Sandusky, died at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, in the Fairhaven Retirement Community, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Feb. 7, 1903, in Crane Township, Wyandot County, to Joel and Maude (Courtad) Smalley. On Nov. 23, 1922, in the Emanuel parsonage, with the Rev. B.E. Lienkaemper officiating, she married
Fred Castanien. He died Dec. 22, 1985.
Survivors include: a daughter, Anna L. Clinger of Upper Sandusky; two sons, Thomas E. and Joel W. Castanien, both of Upper Sandusky; a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Evelyn) Walton of Upper Sandusky; nine grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Heistand; four brothers, VIrgil, Leo, Earl and Frederick Smalley; a great-grandchild; and a son, Donald F. Castanien, also are deceased.
Mrs. Castanien, a homemaker, was a 50-year member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, rural Upper Sandusky, and its Women's Guild. She also taught Sunday school at one time.
She was a member of the Wyandot County Senior Citizens and a former member of the Laf-A-Lot Club . She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking and playing cards.
Services in Emanuel United Church of Christ will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation at the Lucas Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, will be 4-9 p.m. Friday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Donna L. McClellan
Flo's Halfway Inn waitress
Donna L. McClellan, 56, of 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died at 10:32 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born in Fostoria April 28, 1943, to the late Levi and Edith (King) McClellan.
Surviving are five brothers, Rich, Ron and John McClellan, all of Fostoria, Chuck McClellan of Montpelier and Bryan McClellan of Antioch, Tenn.; and a sister, Mrs. Dan (Kathy) Falter of Republic.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Diane Gee.
A 1962 graduate of Fostoria High School, Ms. McClellan had been employed as a waitress at Flo's Halfway Inn for more than 25 years. She also worked at Wilson's in Findlay.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Fostoria.
The Rev. Russell F. Gumm will conduct the 1 p.m. Saturday service in the Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Stephen Lee Lynch
Former Bettsville resident
Word has been received of the death of Stephen Lee Lynch, 51, of Moab, Utah, who died at 9:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, in St. Mary's Community Hospital, Grand Junction, Colo., following an accidental fall.
He was born in Fremont, May 12, 1948, to John Daniel and Wanda Winona (Kinney) Lynch. He was married
to Barb Miles, and they were divorced. He later married
Laurie Paulsen, and they were divorced.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Gina Russell of Payne, Ohio; stepchildren, Jasmine and Danny Little and Brandon and Amber Wickham of Moab; two grandchildren; and a brother, Timothy R. Lynch of Bettsville.
Mr. Lynch, a 1966 graduate of Bettsville High School, worked as a welder and maintenance man for the former Zoller Casting Co. and in construction for Jack Collins Contractors in Bettsville before moving to the Moab area. He also worked as a welder for an oil pipeline contractor.
He served a tour of duty with the U.S. Marine Corps as a reconnaissance specialist during the Vietnam Era.
A former member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Bettsville, he enjoyed the outdoors, the mountains, hunting, trapping and fishing. He also participated in many other outdoor activities and sports.
Services in the Spanish Valley Mortuary, Moab, will be at 11 a.m., Friday, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in Moab.
Thelma B. Kistler
Green Springs homemaker
Thelma B. Kistler, 83, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at her residence at Seneca CR 21, Green Springs.
She was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Bellevue, to William and Carrie (Higgins) Gumbert. Her husband, Albert Kistler, whom she married
March 6, 1940, died Aug. 4, 1991.
Survivors include: a son, Dale A. Kistler of Green Springs; two grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Gumbert of Bellevue.
Mrs. Kistler, a homemaker, was a life-long resident of the Green Springs area.
A Bellevue High School graduate, she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. Gerry Gosnell and the Rev. Steve Wood as co-officiants. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Opal Arlene Eblin

Opal Arlene Eblin, 85, of 623 Baker Ct., Upper Sandusky, died at 10:35 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 at Marion General Hospital. She was born Jan. 14, 1914 to Thomas and Liza (Robinson) Hillman. On Apr. 16, 1938 she married
Oliver G. Eblin, and he survives.
Preceded in death were: a daughter, Judy Kathryn Eblin and infant son, Roger Thomas Eblin; two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Eblin was a Class of 1936 graduate at Cadmus High School of Gallia Co., Ohio and was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton during WW II in depot supply. She also worked for 14 years in food preparation at Steer Barn Restaurant in Upper Sandusky. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star 366 in Upper Sandusky, she enjoyed reading and sewing.
The Rev. Norman Folk will officiate the 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999 funeral service at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Visitation hours are from 12-2 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Graveside burial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m., Dec. 13, 1999 in the Mound Hill cemetery in Gallapolis, Ohio.

Roger B. Farver
Retired Goodyear Tire and Rubber foreman
Roger B. Farver, 89, of Arizona, and formerly of Green Springs, died Nov. 14, 1999. He was born Sept. 9, 1910 in Green Springs to John K. and Julia (Cleveland) Farver. He married
Thelma Dill and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Roger L. Farver of Canfield, OH., and George E. Farver of Akron; two daughters, Karly L. Collum, and Linda L. Farver, both of Mesa, AZ.; two sisters, Marceda Hiser of FL., and Mary Louise Glueck of PA.; nine grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
Preceded in death included: a daughter, Madeline Farver; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Farver was a WW II veteran serving as U.S. Navy Chief Machinist. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, in Plant 1 as a general shift foreman. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron and member of: all Masonic Bodies including 32nd Degree Mason; Shriners; AMVETS; American Legion; and V.F.W.
The Rev. Andy Angel will officiate the 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 funeral service at Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs. Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge cemetery with Military Graveside services provided.
Visitation hours are from 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home..

Marjorie Ann Berry-Goss

Marjorie Ann Berry-Goss, 76, of 237 Charlotte St., Tiffin, died at mid-morning, Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 at her home. She was born March 22, 1923 in Seneca County to Earl and Helen Louise Schuman. She married
Fred Berry, he died Aug. 5, 1975, then she married
Robert Goss, he died Sept. 5, 1991.
Surviving include: three sons, Ron Berry, and Tom Berry, both of Tiffin, and Frank Berry of Findlay; a step-son, Alfred Berry of Tiffin; a step daughter, Mrs. Beverly Autullo of Findlay; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death were: two daughters, Linda Lou Berry, and Grace Berry; and a brother Tom Schuman.
Mrs. Berry-Goss was a homemaker and care giver to various families in Seneca County. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin where she belonged to the Bunco Club and an avid Bingo player.
The Rev. James Say will officiate the 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 funeral service at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, Tiffin.

Terry Wolfarth
Former Fostoria resident
Terry Wolfarth, 40, of Tuscon, AZ., formerly of Fostoria, died Sunday morning, December 5, 1999, in Tuscon, after a long illness with Diabetes. He was born Oct. 4, 1959 in Fostoria to Harvey and Patricia (Howard) Wolfarth, his mother survives in Tuscon.
Other survivors include: a brother, Kim Wolfarth of Tuscon, AZ.
Preceded in death were: his father; and a brother, Michael Wolfarth.
Mr. Wolfarth was a 1978 graduate of Catalina High School, attended The University of Arizona, and Pima Community College. He was a graduate of Elva May Florist School of Fullerton, CA. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tuscon.
Private family visitation will take place Monday at Hoening Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation and funeral services were also held in Tuscon, AZ.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are being handled by Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Michael B. Comer
Son of Bascom resident
Michael B. Comer, 62, of Country Meadow Court, Sylvania, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 in the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
Surviving include: his wife, Janet; two sons, Richard Comer, and Charles Comer, both of Sylvania; two daughters, Victoria Kretz of Sylvania, and Christine Rihacek of Fenton, MI.; his mother, Martha Comer of Bascom; three brothers, Doyle, Steven, and David Comer;two sisters, Marilyn Ottosen, and Susan Durche; several aunts, uncles, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, nephews and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Comer was a partner in the accounting firm of Wexler & White in Toledo. His memberships included: The American Institute of CPA's and the Ohio Society of CPA's. He was past commodore and treasurer of the North Cape Yacht Club; was active in racing and the Junior Sailing Program. He was also a treasurer and delegate of the Inter-Lake Yachting Association and delegate of the Associated Yacht Clubs; Blue Gavel; and current member of the Tiffin Elks Club; and local Knights of Columbus.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m., Saturday and from 2-9 p.m., Sunday at the J. Jeffrey Fratti Funeral Home, 5045 W. Sylvania Ave., (at Corey Rd.), Toledo. John "Jack" Leahy, M.D., a former resident of Tiffin and member of the Calvert High School Class of 1938, died Tuesday morning in St. Louis, MO.

Idella M. Peeler, 78, of Woodland Avenue, Willard, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at her home.
She was born May 30, 1921, in McCutchenville to Homer and Bessie (Gibson) Swerlein. She had lived in Willard since 1959.
She is survived by two sons, David of Deer, Ark., and Don of Willard; two daughters, Judith M. Patterson of Lakeland, Fla., and Becky Schlotterer of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Parish of McComb; and a friend of the family, Kenneth Boetcher.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Good; and two brothers, Les and Ronald Swerlein.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Willard.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ken Gifford officiating at the Secor Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple St., Willard. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove cemetery in New Haven.
