Marjorie J. Rebeck
Tiffin native/homemaker

Marjorie J. Rebeck, 71, of Race Street, Clyde, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in Elyria Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Tiffin, Feb. 24, 1928, to George and Violet (Felkey) Stiger. On Jan. 19, 1946, she married Steven A. Rebeck, who survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, James Rebeck of Colorado, Robert Rebeck of South Carolina and John Rebeck of Thailand; two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Barbara) Burroughs of Clyde and Mrs. Douglas (Jane) Sardwisch of Oak Harbor; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Brutcher of Bassett, Va.; and two brothers, William Stiger of Clyde and Thomas Stiger of Lawson, Okla.

A brother, Jack Stiger, is deceased.

Mrs. Rebeck, a homemaker, received her education in Shaw High School, East Cleveland. She also worked at Ess's Restaurant and Ninn Stetzler Repair.

A long-time Clyde resident, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde.

Services in the First United Methodist Church, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. John Bailey and the Rev. Gary Jones, co-officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Charles G. Sting Jr.
ConRail retiree

Charles G. Sting Jr., 72, 2107 S. CR 17, was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, at 8:33 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999.

He was born March 6, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Charles G. Sr. and Florence (Tarr) Sting. His wife, Juanita (Miller) Sting, whom he married Sept. 24, 1957, in Elmore, survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Greg Sting of Swanton; a daughter, Mrs. Brian (Alice) Zoll of Tiffin ; three step-children, Connie Snay and Marcia Adams, both of Tiffin and Gary Snay of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Nancy Sting, died in infancy.

Mr. Sting, who had attended Columbian High School, retired as a block operator from ConRail Railroad.

A World War II U.S. Army Signal Corp operator, he was a licensed advanced amateur radio operator (W8FRF) and also enjoyed photography.

He had lived in the Tiffin area for more than 40 years.

The Rev. Margaret M. Marks will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Tuesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family to be distributred according to their wishes.

James E. Huffman
Mercy Hospital retiree

James E. Huffman, 64, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at his residence at 1667 S. TR 119.

He was born in Tiffin, Oct. 24, 1935, to the late Eugene and Doris (Palmer) Huffman. On Oct. 27, 1956, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Carolyn Weddell, who survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, Tom Huffman of Tiffin, Dane Huffman of Oak Harbor and Steven Huffman, also of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Burton (Christie) Hughes and Mrs. Jeffery (Jane) Heiser, both of Tiffin; three sisters, Mrs. Ivan (Marjorie) Frankart of Virginia, Mrs. Eugene (Marilyn) Zoeller and Mrs. Patrick (Kathleen) McCarthy, both of Tiffin; four brothers, John "Jack" Huffman of Chicago, Ill. and Daniel, Patrick and Michael Huffman, all of Tiffin; and nine grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, George "Jerry" Huffman; and a sister, Mary Lucille Crider.

Mr. Huffman, a U.S. Navy veteran, retired in 1995 as vice-president of personnel and purchasing from Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, after more than 35 years of service. He also worked part time at Tiffin Hardware.

A 1954 Calvert High School graduate, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Pheasants Forever. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Murd as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at the church 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation at the Hanney-Traunero Funeral Home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, where a wake service will be at 3:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Roy L. Coppler
Village of Carey retiree

Roy L. Coppler, 52, of 534 S. Patterson St., Carey, died at 11:33 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in the Arthur G. James Cancer Research Hospital, Columbus.

He was born May 26, 1947, in Wyandot County, to the late Robert and Evelyn (Plott) Coppler. On June 7, 1969, in Patterson, Ohio, he married Deloris "Dee" Gault, who survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Janine) Ickes of McComb; a son, Steven Coppler of Carey; three grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters, Larry, David and Linda Coppler, all of Carey and Jim and Mike Coppler, both of Upper Sandusky.

Two brothers, Robert and Paul Coppler, also are deceased.

Mr. Coppler, currently the custodian at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey, where he was a member, retired in 1996 as public works director, from the Village of Carey, after 30 years of employment.

He currently served on the Church Council and the Property and Grounds Committee and was a member of the church choir.

The Rev. Paul W. DeMoss will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316-1169.

Nora Mae Stombaugh
Budd Co. employee

Nora Mae Stombaugh, 21, died at 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at her residence at 152 CH 96, Carey, of a self-inflected gunshot wound.

She was born in Upper Sandusky, June 19, 1978, to David C. and Karen L. (Earl) Stombaugh, who survive in Carey.

Survivors also include: her maternal grandparents, Ervin and Betty (Wenner) Earl of McCutchenville; a sister, Stephanie L. Stombaugh of Carey; a brother, Robert E. Stombaugh of Columbus; and a niece.

Also preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Robert and Idella (Bristoll) Stombaugh.

Miss Stombaugh was employed as a light finisher at the Budd Co. in Carey. She had previously worked at Worthington Custom Plastics in Upper Sandusky.

A 1996 graduate of Carey High School, she had lettered in softball four years, was first-team MAL as a senior shortstop, played in the band for three years, was a member of the Girls Athletic Association for four years and an officer her senior year, served as gym assistant for two years and as a high school teacher's aide for two years and was a member of the Carey traveling soccer team.

She also played for Worthington Custom Plastics Team 2 Co-Ed Softball League in Sycamore and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carey.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James R. Sharrett officiating. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, is 2-9 p.m. today and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Carey High School girls softball team, in care of the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316-1169.

Robert E. 'Bud' King
Fostoria native

Robert E. "Bud" King, 71, of 322 W. Fairview, Upper Sandusky, where he had resided the past 40 years, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in Mt. Carmel West Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Fostoria, to Virgil and Cathleen (Carr) King. His wife, Carol A. (Heffelfinger) King, whom he married April 13, 1957, in Sandusky, survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Terry E. King of Sycamore, Dale L. and James V. King, both of Upper Sandusky; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and a brother, William V. "Si" King of Bucyrus.

A granddaughter also is deceased.

Mr. King, a member of Community Christian Center Church, Upper Sandusky, retired in 1978 from the shipping department of Swan Rubber Co., Bucyrus, after 30 years of service.

A U.S. Army veteran, having served 1950-52 during the Korean Conflict, he also was a member of Eagles 2184, Upper Sandusky and Moose Lodge 669, Bucyrus.

He enjoyed traveling, collecting magnets, fishing, playing cards and watching Big Time Wrestling.

Services in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Bill Williamson and Dr. Herschel A. Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky, where military graveside services will be conducted by local veterans organizations..

Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the Coronary Care Unit of Wyandot Memorial Hospital, the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

Carl E. 'Bud' Gerstenberger Jr.
Wyandot County farmer

Carl E. "Bud" Gerstenberger Jr., 73, of 3859 W. CR 6, New Riegel, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in St. Francis Health Care Center, Green Springs.

He was born in Republic, Oct. 29, 1926, to Carl E. and Clemmie (McConnell) Gerstenberger Sr. He first married Irene Kaylor in 1954. She died in February 1993. His second wife, Evelyn R. (Bain) Gerstenberger, whom he married Oct. 25, 1997, in Tiffin, survives in New Riegel.

Other survivors include: three step-sons, David Bain of Fremont, Ritchie Bain of Tonawanda, N.Y. and Ron Bain of Marengo, Ohio; two step-daughters, Mrs. Michael (Jenny) Noggle of Findlay and Mrs. Dale (Lisa) Graham of New Riegel; a sister, Mrs. Carroll (Irene) Kiser of Norwalk; three brothers, Charles Gerstenberger of Fremont, Dorsey Gerstenberger of Collins and Paul "Butch" Gerstenberger of Norwalk; 12 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gerstenberger, a 1944 graduate of Green Springs High School, was a farmer for many years in Wyandot County. He also worked as a gardener for the USDA Farm in Fremont and presently was employed at Meijer Co. in Findlay for the past four years.

A U.S. Navy and Merchant Marine veteran, he was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge, both of New Riegel and attended St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, Adams Township.

The Rev. Warren Walton of Sycamore, will conduct the 11 a.m. Thursday service in St. Jacob's United Church of Christ. Burial will be in St. Jacob's cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Cozetta 'Midge' Justine Flechsenhar
Homemaker/dress shop manager

Cozetta "Midge" Justine Flechsenhar, 81, formerly of Sycamore and 218 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky, died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in the Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.

She was born in Wyandot County, July 21, 1918, to LaFayette D. and Ethel T. (Swerlien) Cross. On July 12, 1936, in Monroe, Mich., she married Richard Coyne Flechsenhar, who preceded her in death May 30, 1973.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Diane Widman of Lorain and Mrs. Ernest (Elaine) Hoover of Upper Sandusky; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandchild.

Also preceding her in death were infant twin sons, Larry and Terry; a sister, Wanda Margraf and a brother, Vearl Cross.

A homemaker, Mrs. Flechsenhar also managed a fashion dress shop and worked as a bookkeeper for the Ford Dealership, both of Tiffin.

She and her husband founded and participated in the Wyandot Squares Dance Group. A member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky, she also enjoyed reading and playing the piano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Holmer and Deacon Floyd Derr as co-officiants. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation at the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, where a Biblical scripture service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Wyandot Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.

Delores A. Heminger Bland
Gibsonburg homemaker

Delores A. Heminger Bland, 82, of West Stone Street, Gibsonburg, died Monday, Nov.15, 1999, at her home.

She was born July 26, 1917, in Gibsonburg, to William and Minnie (Hoessman) Pugh. On Dec. 20, 1934, in Tiffin, she married Walter Heminger. he died Aug. 20, 1961.

Survivors include: her children, Mrs. John (Norma) Diebley of Helena, Allen "Sonny" Heminger of Oregon, Donald Heminger, also of Helena, Larry Heminger of Florida, Mrs. Tom (Sandy "Sissy") Lease and Danny Heminger of Gibsonburg and Mrs. John (Marilyn) Moore of Perrysburg; 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Wanda Heminger; a sister, Clara Fry and a brother, Harley Pugh.

Mrs. Bland, who had lived in the Gibsonburg community her entire life, was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg.

Services in The Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg, will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in West Union cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department or the County EMS.

Stephen S. Compton
N&W Railroad retiree

Stephen S. Compton, 86, of 135 1/2 Decker St., Bellevue, died in the Bellevue Hospital, Monday, Nov. 15, 1999.

He was born in Bellevue Aug. 1, 1913, to Colin and Mary Louise (Clark) Compton. His wife, Anna (Drohen) Compton, whom he married Feb. 8, 1936, died Nov. 21, 1998.

Surviving are: three sons, Michael Compton of Punta Gorda, Fla., Thomas Compton of Port Clinton and Joe LoCascio of Brandon, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Napka of Bellevue.

A daughter, Kay Dempsey; an infant sister, Martha Compton; and two brothers, Richard and Arthur Compton, also are deceased.

Mr. Compton, a lifelong resident of Bellevue, retired in 1976 from the N & W Railroad.

A 1932 graduate of Bellevue High School, he was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 273, of which he was past master; past high priest of Chapter 113 and was currently chaplain of Bellevue Masonic Lodge 273, all of Bellevue.

The Rev. Sandra Hutchinson will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Friday service in St. Paul United Church of Christ. Interment will be in Strongs Ridge cemetery.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Auxter-Groff Funeral Home, Bellevue, where Masonic services will be at 7.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners.
