Virginia A. Thompson

Virginia A. Thompson, 73, formerly of East Tiffin St., Fostoria, died at 6:17 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Mrs. Thompson was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Findlay to Roscoe and Almettie (Woods) St. Myer. On May 30, 1953, in Paintsville, Ky., she married
Frank C. Thompson. He died Oct. 8, 1995.
Surviving are: two sons David of Elkart, Ind., and Kenneth of Fostoria; five sisters, Edith Yates and Barbara Main both of Findlay, Janette Laney of Fostoria, Janice Dillon of Bettsville, and Rose Balsley of Carson City, Nev.
Preceding her in death were brothers Bill, Bob and Jerry St. Myer; sisters Leahabelle St. Myer and Carolyn Radabaugh.
She was a 1944 graduate of Findlay High School and a homemaker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Knollcrest cemetery, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Goldie Jean Musser
Native of Tiffin
Goldie Jean Musser, 63, of Tucson, Ariz., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Tucson.
She was born April 12, 1936, in Tiffin to Grant and Dorothea Fuller. They are deceased.
She was married
May 29, 1960, in Tiffin to Jerry L. Musser. He survives at 37181 S. Hollygreen Drive, Tucson.
Other survivors are a son, Grant of Farmington, Mich.; and two sisters, Delores Goetz of Bradenton, Fla., and Darlene Fuller of San Francisco, Calif.
Mrs. Musser was a homemaker and a 1954 graduate of Columbian High School.
Cremation will be in Arizona. A memorial service will be in Tiffin at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Walter J. Shrake
Ohio Bell Co. retiree
Walter J. Shrake, 71, 2003 E. Waterberry Drive, Huron, and formerly of Kingsley Court, Sandusky, died Saturday morning, Nov. 6, 1999, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born in Savanna, Ill., on Oct. 10, 1928, to Harry and Nancy (McDonald) Shrake. He married
Phyllis Delaplane, to whom he was married
for 49 years. She survives.
Also surviving are: three daughters, Debbie Mischler and Mrs. Thomas (Connie) Roberts, both of Sandusky, and Mrs. Scott (Beth) Caldwell of Fayetteville, N.C.; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; a brother, Eddie; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene, and a brother, Roy.
Mr. Shrake was a U. S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was employed by the Ohio Bell Co. for 39 years, and after retiring he worked for Stambaugh's and Ultimate Industries. He was a Perkins Township Trustee in the late 1980s and was the former president of the park board in Perkins Township. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Sandusky; the American Legion Post 83, Sandusky; the Perseverance Lodge 329 Free and Accepted Masons; the Singara Grott; the Shriner's; a former social member of the I.A.B. Club; and the Perkins Kiwanis Club. He was an avid camper being in Road Runners 42, the Good Sam Club and a member of the Vacationland Camp Ground; he also loved woodworking.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Trinity United Methodist Church, E. Jefferson and Wayne streets, Sandusky, with the Rev. Charles J. Nash officiating. Burial will be in Perkins cemetery.
Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Perseverance Lodge 329 Free and Accepted Masons will conduct memorial services at 6:45 p.m. with the American Legion Post 83 memorial services at 7:30 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
Henry L. Waugh
Former Whirlpool employee
Henry L. Waugh, 74, of Vine Street, Clyde, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Barnsboro, Pa., Aug. 28, 1925, to Harry and Vesta (McConnell) Waugh. He married
Jean Wolfe on Dec. 14, 1947, and she survives.
Also surviving are: five sons Henry L., James S., David E., Daniel L. and Richard E., all of Clyde; a daughter, Barbara Jean Waugh of Toledo; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Joseph of New Jersey and George of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; two brothers, James and John; and three sisters, Grace Stotz, Viola Bloomberg and Ruth Verdavior.
He graduated from Patton High School in Patton, Pa., and was in the U. S. Navy during World War II. For 38 years he was a repairman at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde, and a Clyde VFW life member.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Vine Street in Clyde with the Rev. Jeff Nordhaus officiating. Interment will be in the Veteran's Section of McPherson cemetery, with military graveside rites provided by Clyde VFW and Clyde American Legion.
Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Herman Joseph Peiffer
Tiffin area resident
Herman Joseph Peiffer, 75, of 2350 E. SR 18, died at 4:28 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
He was born in New Riegel to Frank and Anna (Lucius) Peiffer on Oct. 18, 1924. He married
Bernadene T. Meyer May 18, 1957, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Marywood, and she died July 29, 1992.
Surviving are: two sons Bruce of Perrysburg and Gerald of Westlake; six brothers, Harold of Cleveland, Elmer of New Riegel, Carl of Findlay, Raymond of Carey, Leo of Tiffin, and Francis of Fremont; a sister, Norma Jean Kramer of Tiffin; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Wilford, Gerald and Eugene; and a sister, Anna May Rumschlag.
Mr. Peiffer was a New Riegel High School graduate and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a retired machinist from Hayes-Albion Co. after 15 years of service.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rosary recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Richard L. Healy
Retired machine repairman
Richard L. Healy, 74, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at his residence at 405 N. Goodbread St., Nevada.
He was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Nevada, to Stephen Harrison and Ann Viola (Simpson) Healy. On June 7, 1947, in Greenup, Ky., he married
Shirley A. Grubel, who preceded him in death in 1997.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Patricia Ann) Wyeth of Nevada; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Healy of Cridersville; and four sisters, LaVere Hablitzel of Arlington, LaVon and Maxine Schmitzer and Edith Jeanette Baehr, all of Florida.
Two brothers, Wayne and Bobby, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Healy, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, served as a Motor Machinist 1st Class on the USS LSM7 in the South Pacific, in the Okinawa Invasion and in Japan.
He retired in 1982 as a machine repairman from Timken in Bucyrus, where he had been employed for 30 years.
A life-long resident of Nevada, he was affiliated with the College Hill United Church of Christ, north of Chatfield and a member of the United Commercial Travelers, Nevada American Legion Post 462, Bucyrus VFW 1078, the Wyandot County Farm Bureau, the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association and the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation.
The Rev. Daniel Ward will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Interment will be in Nevada cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Wyandot County Hospice.
Emily M. Smith
Retired LPN
Emily M. Smith, 86, a resident of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria, died at the home at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999.
She was born in Fostoria, Oct. 17, 1913, to Balus and Lelia (Teeters) Fox. Her husband, Otis V. Smith, whom she married
June 25, 1944, in Fostoria, died June 18, 1992.
Surviving are: nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Dale, Harold, Raymond and Walter Fox; and a sister, Alberta McLaughlin, also are deceased.
Mrs. Smith, a 1931 graduate of Fostoria High School received her LPN through Flower Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo. She retired as an LPN from the office of Doc Bruggemann in Fostoria.
She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Pleasant View cemetery, Wingston Road, Wood County (near Rudolph), with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite officiating..
There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Agnes Foy
Mother of Tiffin resident
Agnes Foy, 75, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Cincinnati.
She was born in Cincinnati April 20, 1924, to Frank and Minnie (Straub) Abel. On July 24, 1943, she married
Thomas Foy Sr. He survives.
Other survivors include: seven sons, Thomas Jr. of California, Kenneth of Tiffin, James, Dennis, Rich, Bill and Roger, all of Cincinnati; a daughter, Judy Lee, also of Cincinnati; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a great-grandchild.
Mrs. Foy, a graduate of Bethesda Hospital Nursing School, worked for 55 years as an LPN. She was a charter member of the Kenwood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Cincinnati.
A memorial service will be at a later date.

Ronald 'Dean' Coffman

Ronald "Dean" Coffman, 53, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at his home at 5065 Marion Melmore Road, Sycamore.
He was born in Bucyrus Sept. 30, 1946, to the late Ronald D. and Helen H. (Riedel) Coffman. He married
Karen S. Heidemann June 23, 1967. They were divorced.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Bryan (Dawn) Kincade of rural Sycamore; a son, Todd M. Coffman of Willard; three grandchildren; and a brother, Roger L. Coffman of Bucyrus.
Mr. Coffman, a retired farmer, also worked at Timken Co. for 30 years.
A 1964 graduate of Wynford High School, he attended Lemert United Methodist Church.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he enjoyed his summer home at Port Clinton.
The Rev. Jeffrey A. Vanderhoff will be the officiant at the 3 p.m. Saturday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. The body has been donated to Ohio State University for anatomical research.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association.
Lois H. Walker

Lois H. Walker, 86, formerly of 47 Harriett Drive, Shelby, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in the Griffeth Nursing Home, Ashland, following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Tiro, to Royal H. and Myra (Snider) Ross. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Zumbach and George Walker.
Survivors include: two sons, Leo Bringman of Chilcoot, Calif., and George Bringman of Ashland; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Kehl of Lexington, Mrs. Malcolm (Mary) Brook of Attica and Mrs. Phil (Laura) Amsbaugh of Ashland; three stepsons, Walter Zumbach of Glenside, Pa., Lou Zumbach of Minnesota and Gerald "Jr." Potts of Shelby; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bill (Ruby) Lynne of Bellefontaine and Mrs. Al (Georgene) Gooding of Bradenton, Fla.; 24 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Dome of Morristown, Tenn.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Orrin Ross; two sisters, Grace and Mayme Grove; a grandson and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Walker a former employee of the Shelby Business Forms, was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Rizpah Chapter 153 Order of Eastern Star, which she had served as worthy matron.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Turner Funeral Home, Shelby, with the Rev. D. Evan Houck officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where Eastern Star services will be at 7:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the ABC Center at First Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
Richard S. 'Dick' Johnson
Retired heavy equipment operator
Richard S. "Dick" Johnson, 71, of 205 E. 9th St., Sycamore, died at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born April 11, 1928, in Marysville, to Harry L. and Opal M. (Underhill) Johnson. On Aug. 18, 1950, in Bloomville, he married
Helen L. Funkhouser, who survives.
Other survivors include: six sisters, Mrs. Francis Sarver of Peoria, Mrs. Evelyn Sarver of Marion, Mrs. Juanita Miller of Marysville, Mrs. Margaret Raymond of Bristolville, Mrs. Martha Wynn of Sharon, Pa. and Mrs. Mary Ritter of Tucson, Ariz; and a brother, Harry Johnson Jr. also of Tucson.
A daughter, Penny Jo Johnson, died Feb. 22, 1982; and two sisters, Marie Moler and Mrs. Harriet Culver; and two brothers, Lewis and Ross Johnson, also are deceased.
Mr. Johnson, who served in Germany during the Korean Conflict, retired as a heavy equipment operator from Harley Forth Trucking and Excavating in Sycamore.
A former member of Deunquat Lutheran Church, where he was a former Sunday School superintendent, he was a member of Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
His hobbies included fishing and growing roses.
The Rev. David Spradlin will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Saturday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore, where military graveside services will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-9 p.m. Friday.
