Burton David Margraf
Accomplished trumpet player
Burton David Margraf, 76, of 512 Baker Court, Upper Sandusky, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in the Wyandot Manor, Upper Sandusky.
He was born in Tiffin, March 5, 1923, to David and Anna (Balduf) Margraf. His wife, Betty J. (Miller) Margraf, whom he married
Aug. 17, 1946, in Toledo, survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Neil (Donna) Bradley of Tiffin; a son, David J. Margraf of New Braunfels, Texas; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Margraf, a 1941 graduate of Columbian High School and a graduate of Chicago Technical College, had been employed as a design engineer at both Webster Industries and at Fairfield Engineering Co., Marion, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of Webster Industries Quarter Century Club, Flotilla 10-3 US Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he served as past commander; American Legion Post 169, Tiffin Moose Lodge 846, American Federation of Musicians, where he was a life member and the De Sota Club of America.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran (1943-46), he had served aboard the USS Silverleaf in the Pacific Theater.
He also was a member of the Tiffin Area Real Estate Investors Association and St. John's United Church of Christ and its Mid-Day Fellowship.
Mr. Margraf was formerly leader of his band, Burt Margraf and the Melodiers for 25 years, ending in 1975; played trumpet in Frank Creeger's Bascom Band, Steine's German Band; the Upper Sandusky Firemen's Band and Green Springs Community Band. He also was a long-time member of The Gang Band, the New Washington Town Band and the Bucyrus City Band, playing through the 1999 season.
The Rev. David Mills will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary..
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, where the United Veterans Council will conduct services at 3:45 p.m..

Wanda Mae Meyer

Wanda Mae Meyer, 80, of Vine Street, Clyde, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in the Arbors of Clyde.
She was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Fremont, to Neil H. and Leta Elizabeth (Ebherhart) Wagner. On Feb. 19, 1948, she married
Harry F. Meyer, who survives.
Mrs. Meyer, an only child, was a homemaker and worked at the News Messenger, as secretary to Clarence Homan, attorney and at Clyde Porcelain Steel.
A life time resident of the Clyde area, she was raised in the boyhood home of General James B. McPherson, donating the home to the Clyde Heritage League in recent years.
She graduated in 1937 from Clyde High School.
Graveside services in McPherson cemetery, Clyde, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Gerry Gosnell officiating.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-5 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or Sandusky County Humane Society.
Opal Irene (Hall) Rohrbacher

Opal Irene (Hall) Rohrbacher, 71, of East State Street, Fremont, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in the Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont.
She was born in Thompson Township, Feb. 20, 1928, to John Arley and Jessie Leaha (Matter) Hall. Her husband, Alvin Rohrbacher, died Oct. 21, 1978.
Survivors include: a son, David Rohrbacher of Fremont; a step-son, William R. Rohrbacher of Bellevue; a step-daughter, Bonnie Matney of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Evelyn Humbert and Lillian Jenne, both of Green Springs; and a grandchild.
Preceding her in death were a sister, Geraldine Beard; and two brothers, Kenneth and Clifferd Hall.
Mrs. Rohrbacher, a member of the East Side Presbyterian Church, Fremont, was employed by Wal-Mart as a sales associate for the past nine years.
She also was a member of Parents Without Partners for 10 years, where she served as president; Women of the Moose and the Eagles Auxiliary, all of Fremont.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Wonderly- Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont, with the Rev. Susie Johnson officiating. Interment will be in York Free Chapel cemetery, Bellevue.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Marilyn S. Childs

Marilyn S. (Leibold) Childs, 70, of Douglas Street, Burgoon, died at her residence, Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999.
She was born in Clyde, June 4, 1929, to Raymond E. and Lucille F. (Klohn) Leibold. Her husband, James E. Childs, whom she married
March 5, 1966, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Fremont, survives in Burgoon.
Also surviving are a son, Dennis M. Childs of Burgoon; a daughter, Carol L. Slayton of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; a sister, Nancy Conn of Fremont; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Buddy Leibold, is deceased.
Mrs. Childs, a 1948 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, was employed by the Fremont City Schools for 15 years as a custodian/matron.
She was a member of the Burgoon United Methodist Church and the Buckeye Breakers C.B. Club for 10 years.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, in the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont, with the Rev. Martha Gross officiating. Interment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Blaine W. 'Bill' Dukes

Blaine W. "Bill" Dukes, 57, of 2325 SR 568, Carey, died at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, in the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born in Findlay, Dec. 28, 1941, to the late Lewis and Helen (Duffield) Dukes. On Oct. 30, 1971, in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Carey, he married
Patricia R. Reinhart, who survives.
Other survivors include: five children, Constance M. Dukes of Huron, Daniel B. Dukes of Wharton, Randal E. and Judith R. Dukes, both of Carey and Mark W. Dukes, at home; a sister, Marylou Mumy of McDonough, Ga.; and a brother, Douglas Dukes of McComb.
Mr. Dukes, a 1959 graduate of North Baltimore High School, retired in 1996 from Food Town in Findlay.
He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ernest Waechter as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Carey.
Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, where a Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Leora Drinkwater Clark

Leora Drinkwater Clark, 87, formerly of Fostoria, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, in the Oak Hill Community Medical Center, Gallipolis, following a long illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Chicago Junction (Willard), to James F. and Bertha L. (Wolfe) Drinkwater. Her husband, Charles W. Clark Sr., died Oct. 23, 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gene (Jaynis Clark) McQuistion of Tiffin; a son, Charles W. Clark Jr. of Gallipolis; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Clark, a graduate of Heidelberg College, where she studied organ and piano performance, taught first grade at Bradner in the Lakota School District and at the American School at Monterey, Mexico.
She also studied organ at Oberlin College and from the organ master, E. Power Biggs. She served as church organist for the First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria and as guest organist for the First Presbyterian Church of Tiffin and Findlay.
She was a member of the Fostoria Eastern Star, Women's Club, The Mayflower Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She and her husband were avid supporters of the Seneca County Astronomy Club and helped in the building of the Ballreich Observatory which houses the MacMillan Telescope provided by the Ohio State University. She presented a 10-inch Meade reflecting telescope to Perkins Observatory this year, in the memory of her husband, for public viewing and education.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood cemetery, Willard, under the direction of the Rev. Jim Guertler. Interment will follow.
The Willis Funeral Home, Gallipolis, is in charge of arrangements.

Doris I. Melkonian

Doris I. Melkonian, 87, 2320 W. CR 6, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in the Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born in Seneca County Nov. 20, 1911, to Eugene and Kate (Klaiss) Feagles. She first married
Keith Moore in 1930, and they were later divorced. She later married
Mike Melkonian. He is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Moore of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A son, Richard Moore, died Jan. 20, 1996; four brothers and three sisters also are deceased.
Mrs. Melkonian, a 1929 graduate of Melmore High School, retired as a real estate broker in California. She was a member of the Protestant faith.
The body has been cremated and burial will take place at a later date. The Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, is in charge of arrangements.

Lorena V. Roth, 85, of Willard, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in Willard Mercy Hospital.
She was born in Tiffin July 10, 1914, to Henry and Johanna (Theis) Faeth. Her husband, Henry L. Roth, whom she married
Dec. 29, 1938, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, died Dec. 26, 1984.
Survivors include: two sons, James Roth of Saline, Mich., and Kenneth Roth of Attica; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Darlene) Shell of New Washington and Mrs. Joseph 'Ernie' (Paula) Gregoire of Goshen, Conn.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Faeth of Fostoria and Alvin Faeth of New Riegel; two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Helen) Kromer of Carey and Mrs. Robert (Viola) Fisher of Granbury, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Anthony Faeth; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Marie) Regan and Mrs. Frank (Rita) Zalas.
Mrs. Roth, a homemaker, was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Bismark, and its Rosary Society.
A funeral Mass in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, rural Bellevue, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. John M. Nagele as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Kay Lee Ritzman
Tiffin resident's sister
Kay Lee Ritzman, 54, of CR 175, Clyde, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, as the result of an automobile accident Monday morning at US 20 and CR 220 near Clyde.
She was born Nov. 16, 1944, in Fremont, to the late Glendon and Margaret (Laurendeau) Laird. On Aug. 19, 1967, in Fremont, she married
Ronald R. Ritzman Sr. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Ronald R. Ritzman Jr. of Dublin, Ohio; a daughter, Heather Ritzman of Fremont; two brothers, James and Glendon Laird Jr., both of Fremont; two sisters, Karol Boedecker of Lakeside and Kelly Zimmerman of Tiffin; and three grandchildren.
A brother, Timothy Laird, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ritzman, who attended St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde, was employed at Aeroquip Corp. in Fremont. She enjoyed reading.
Visitation at the Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11:15 a.m. Thursday followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Raymond J. Daniel, 59, of Willard died at 10:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Mercy Hospital of Willard.
He was born May 8, 1940, in Willard to the late Leo G. and Margaret M. (Schriner) Daniel. On May 20, 1967, he married
Carol Ann Phillips. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Kevin J. Daniel of Willard; a daughter, Denise A. Benfer of Bloomville; two grandchildren; and a sister, Ruthann Hohman of Bloomville.
He was a 1959 graduate of Willard High School; employed at Whirlpool Corp., Clyde Division; a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Attica K of C.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in the St. Sebastian's cemetery, Bismark.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service in Attica with a rosary service at 8 p.m.

Delbert F. Durst, 41, of 2488 CR 80, Burgoon, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 1999.
He was born April 10, 1958, to Vernon H. and Helen (Gillig) Durst in Fostoria. He never married

Survivors include: his parents; three brothers, Daniel R. of Fostoria, Duane A. of Kansas and Doyle B. of Bettsville; one sister, Dayna M. Durst at home.
A brother, Douglas L., preceded him in death.
Mr. Durst was a 1977 Lakota High School graduate; worked with D & D Hauling, a family business; was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville; Fostoria Eagles; and Fostoria United Sportsman Club.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville with the Rev. Ted Miller, assisted by Deacon George Miller, officiating. Burial will be in the Millersville cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville with a Christian wake service at 8 p.m.
