Lucille E. Ball, 92, 182 Walker St., died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, in St. Francis Home.
She was born in Tiffin, April 21, 1907, to Edward and Anna (Fate) Huth. Her husband, Herman J. Ball, whom she married
Oct. 21, 1925, in St. Mary's Church, Tiffin, preceded her in death June 19, 1988.
Survivors include: a son, Richard P. Ball of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Norma) Schwab and Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Rochester, both of Tiffin; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Mary Alice Hill; a brother, a sister and a great-grandchild.
Mrs. Ball, a homemaker, also worked as a grinder at the former Tiffin Glass House.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Rosary Altar Society and the Poor Souls Society.
A funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. James K. Say as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Activity Center, Calvert High School Foundation or the donor's choice.
Charles O. Hole
Ohio Power Co. retiree
Charles O. Hole, 85, died at 9:41 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at his residence at 464 S. Sandusky St.
He was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Hicksville, to Daniel W.and Eulalah Ruth (Wort) Hole. On Sept. 24, 1946, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married
A. Jean Borer, who died March 27, 1996.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Barry (Jane) Fiske of Tiffin; a brother, Bernard Parsons of Edwardsburg, Mich.; two sisters, Ruth M. Ewald of Wapakoneta and Ada Barr of Edwardsburg; and two grandsons.
Four brothers, Stanley, James, Herbert and Ray Parsons, also are deceased.
Mr. Hole, a 1932 graduate of Blume High School, Wapakoneta, retired in 1976 as a lineman from the Ohio Power Co., after 38 years of service.
He served as a staff sergeant with the 469th Air Group in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was a member of the Tiffin American Legion Post, Allen Eiry Senior Center and the Veteran and Retired Employees Association Tiffin Chapter of American Electric Power.
An avid woodworker and bicyclist, he also was a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
The Rev. Jan Kucera will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Wednesday service in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Military cemetery rites will be performed by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, Tiffin.
Carol A. Patterson
Retired National City Bank bookkeeper
Carol A. Patterson, 62, 247 W. Perry St., died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born in Tiffin, June 25, 1937, the daughter of Russell H. and Marie M. (Fate) Patterson. Her father survives in Tiffin.
Survivors also include: two nephews, David Doblinger of Toronto, Ontario Canada and Michael Doblinger of Tiffin; and a niece, Christine Miocevich, also of Toronto; two great nieces and a sister, Patricia Patterson of Tiffin.
Her mother preceded her in death.
Ms. Patterson, a graduate of Calvert High School, worked for about 35 years at National City Bank as a head bookkeeper.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary and the Third Order.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Murd as celebrant. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the Hanney-Traunero Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Elinor M. Kuntz
Retired G.E. industrial nurse
Elinor M. Kuntz, 93, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at her home at 1742 S. CR 591.
She was born in Seneca County Jan. 19, 1906, to Henry and Anna (Maier) Kuntz. She never married
.
Survivors include: nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were three sisters, Frances T. Smith, Matilda I. Kuntz and Edna C. Rahrig; and four brothers, Dr. Clarence I., Dr. Leo F., Herbart A. and Pius Kuntz.
A 1925 graduate of Ursuline Academy and a 1932 graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing, Miss Kuntz worked at Mercy Hospital, Tiffin, as a registered nurse. In 1946, she became an industrial nurse at the General Electric Plant in Tiffin until her retirement in 1971.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Rosary-Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, St. Francis Home Auxiliary, Ursuline Alumni Association and St. Vincent Alumni Association.
A funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. William Rose as celebrant. The rosary will be recited at the church at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 7:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Elementary, St. Joseph Elementary, Calvert High School Foundation, Mercy Hospital or the donor's choice.
Leah E. Sherer
Sister of Sycamore resident
Leah E. Sherer, 59, of 6015 Skadden, Sandusky, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 10, 1999, in the Erie County Care Facility, Huron, following a long illness.
She was born Oct. 10, 1940, in Cleveland, to Don and Maxine Sherer. Her mother survives in Upper Sandusky.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Rachel Griggs of Sandusky; a son, Curtis Van Devender, also of Sandusky; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Ballinger of Cleveland and Shirley Dunlap of Sycamore.
Her father; and a son, Billy Sherer, are deceased.
Mrs. Sherer was a homemaker.
Private family services will be at a later date. Burial will be in Republic.

Dale G. Evert
Tiffin resident's brother
Dale G. Evert, 72, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at his home on River Run Drive, Fremont.
He was born in Clyde Dec. 21, 1926, to Otto and Anna (Skeels) Evert. His wife, Margot "Marty" (Noffz) Evert, whom he married
Nov. 5, 1949, in St. John's Church, Fremont, survives in Fremont.
Survivors also include a sister, Pauline Payden of Tiffin.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Dorothy Hergesheimer; and five brothers, Howard, Harold, Melvin, Herman and James Evert.
Mr. Evert, a farmer, also worked at Pet Milk in Fremont as a driver, retiring in 1993. He had worked in the plant prior to going into the service and after returning from the service.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, he was a member of the Moose, Eagles and React. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard and pool.
For the last 10 years he and his wife spent six months of the year in Venice, Fla.
The Rev. Jonathan Bull of St. John Lutheran Church, will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.
Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Russell D. 'Mike' Ehrhart

Word has been received of the death of Russell D. "Mike" Ehrhart, 80, who died in Palmyra, Pa., following a long illness.
A graduate of the Junior Home School in 1937, Mr. Ehrhart had served as the class president. An outstanding student leader and athlete, he learned the printing trade at the Home orphanage and followed that trade his entire life.
Mr. Ehrhart had attended all the post-war Junior Home alumni gatherings in Tiffin and just visited the Tiffin area for the 1999 event. Despite serious health problems and confinement to a wheelchair, he was determined to attend and speak at the Memorial service for his football coach, John Starrett.
Services will be Friday morning in Palmyra.
Margaret Geren
Retired sales clerk
Margaret Geren, 86, formerly of East Jones Street, Fostoria, died at 12 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, in the Independence House, Fostoria, where she resided.
She was born March 18, 1913, in Seneca County, to Ora and Stella (Coon) Calhoun. On Nov. 8, 1937, in Fostoria, she married
David A. Geren. He died Aug. 1, 1954.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Yvonne) Hawk Jr. of Kansas; a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, three sisters and a grandchild.
Mrs. Geren, a member of the Fostoria Baptist Church, retired in 1992 as a sales clerk from Sauber's Market in Fostoria.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Ivan Schwenn officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church.
George Frederick Rieser
Retired hospital supervisor
George Frederick Rieser, 80, of Columbus, where he had resided since 1950, died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, in the Whetstone Care Center, Columbus.
He was born in Upper Sandusky June 27, 1919, to Charles E. and Margie (Seebach) Rieser. He had never married
.
Surviving are a brother, Howard Rieser of Upper Sandusky; and six nieces and nephews, including Beverly Rieser, Barbara Rieser Treadway and Mark Rieser, all of Upper Sandusky, and Jonathon Rieser of Harpster; grand nieces and nephews and a great-grand niece and nephew.
A brother, Charles E. Rieser Jr., also is deceased.
Mr. Rieser, who considered Wyandot County his home, attended Upper Sandusky High School and graduated in 1937 from Marion Harding High School. He worked in the family business, Rieser's Grocery in Marion and was the co-owner of Rieser's Fruit Farm in Harpster.
Also a 1951 graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in medical technology, he worked at the OSU Hospital as a supervisor of the Heart Catherization Lab until his retirement in January 1985.
An avid Ohio State football fan, he was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), President's Club and the Judo Club, both of OSU; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, and Bethel Lutheran Church, Grove City.
During his life he traveled extensively, visiting many foreign countries.
Also a member of the Columbus Zoo Walkers, he exercised extensively and walked at Highbanks in Columbus. He made hook rugs as a hobby.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Jerry Elsholz and the Rev. Peter Ray as co-officiants. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation at the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, is 6-9 p.m. today and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Ralph Burks
Basic Refractory retiree
Ralph Burks, 77, of Burgoon, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, in the Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont.
He was born in Kimball, W.Va., March 12, 1922, to Verno and Cynthia Mae (Bishop) Burks. On Aug. 23, 1960, in Greenville, S.C., he married
Betty Lou Moore. She survives in Burgoon.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Charlotte Folk of Dayton, Rosie Stein of Livingston, Tenn., and Susan Goodwin of Clyde; a brother, Curtis Burks of Tiffin; a sister, Leanice Burks; and 11 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two sons, Ralph Lynn Burks and an infant, Guy Verno Burks; an infant daughter, Belendia Wendy Burks; and a sister, Dorothy Jones.
Mr. Burks, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, American Theater Service Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was employed as a laborer at Basic Refractory, Bettsville, for 19 years, retiring around 1980. He also drove truck in Kimball, W.Va., for General Stores for many years and worked on the Norfolk and Western Railroad prior to moving to Ohio.
Mr. Burks dressed as Santa Claus for seven or eight years, and enjoyed mowing, gardening and model trains.
Graveside memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Oakwood cemetery, Fremont, where military honor guards will be provided by the Fremont American Legion and VFW.
The Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
