Adam Anthony Perna
Columbian High graduate
Adam Anthony Perna, 21, of 2650 E. SR 18, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, in Toledo Hospital as a result of head injuries he suffered in an auto accident.
He was born June 28, 1978, in Tiffin to Leonard A. and Paula K. (Mowry) Perna Jr. They survive.
Others survivors include: three brothers, Donald of Hicksville, Michael and Frankie at home; two sisters, Marla and Olivia at home; maternal grandmother Ruth Mowry of Tiffin; and paternal grandmother Vita Perna of Tiffin.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Donald Mowry, and paternal grandfather, Leonard Perna Sr.
He graduated from Columbian High School in 1997. He was a junior at Defiance College, majoring in elementary education. He was in his third year on the Defiance Yellow Jackets football team, in which he was a two-year letterman, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
The Rev. William Rose will officiate at the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, at the St. Mary Catholic Church with burial following in the St. Mary Catholic cemetery. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass.
Calling hours will be 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
Robert A. Hodge
Charter boat captain
Robert A. Hodge, 47, of Main Street, Tiffin, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1952, in Port Clinton to Robert and Lael (Mealey) Berman. On June 3, 1972, he married
Kathleen Ciacclli in Port Clinton.
Mr. Hodge worked for Courtesy Auto World in Port Clinton; Kelsey-Hayes in Fremont; and was a charter boat captain for many years, loving the lake and fishing. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton.
Survivors include: his parents; a son, Robert A. Hodge of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Larry Hodge of Port Clinton, Mike Bergman of Dayton; three sisters Linda Hodge and Donell Cramer, both of Port Clinton, and Sandy Braddock of England.
His adoptive father, Don Hodge, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Gerner-Wolf-Kopchak Funeral Home in Port Clinton.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Bernard C. Good
Vickery resident
Bernard C. Good, 79, of Clearview Drive, Vickery, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Countryside Continuing Care in Fremont.
Mr. Good was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Fremont to Carroll and Sadie (Muhholland) Good. He married
Norma McGrady July 12, 1941. She died Feb. 6, 1999.
Survivors include: a son, Bernard Good of Sandusky; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (JoAnn Ostheimer) Flahiff of Gibsonburg and Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) Fisher of Fremont; a brother, Daniel Good of Fremont; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Urban, Richard and Walter Good; and two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Fox and Rosemary Good.
He graduated from Fremont St. Joseph High School. He was in the Army and served during World War II; and worked at Ford Motor in Sandusky.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde with the Rev. Mark Herzog officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Clyde American Legion and the Clyde VFW.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.
Anthony B. 'Buddy' Woodward
Tiffin resident's son
Anthony B. "Buddy" Woodward, 20, of 205 Walnut St., Arcadia, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at home.
He was born March 17, 1979, to Doyle Bradley Woodward of Arcadia and Carol (Boehler) Woodward of Tiffin, who survive.
Also surviving are: a brother, Dustin Woodward of Tiffin; a half brother, David Emahiser of Kentucky; maternal grandparent, Pauline Boehler of Tiffin; paternal grandparents, Doyt Woodward of Donna, Texas, step-grandmother Agnes (Smith) Woodward and Alice Traves of Atalanto, Calif.
His maternal grandparent, Edward J. Boehler, is deceased.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dan R. Parker, 41, of 8275 S. SR 53, McCutchenville, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital, due to an auto accident. Funeral arrangements are pending at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
Dorothy Eileen Edmondson
U.S. Navy WAVE
Dorothy Eileen Edmondson, 74, of 147 Harvest Lane, Tiffin, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in Tiffin Mercy Hospital. She was born May 19, 1925, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Earl L. and Helen E. (Winner) Eddy. On March 16, 1950, she married
Richard Edmondson in Columbus. He died Feb. 14, 1994.
Survivors include: two sons, Stuart (Diane) Edmondson of Columbus and Scott Edmondson of Tiffin; three daughters, Susan Edmondson of Tiffin, Mrs. Yavuz (Sandra) Bozer of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Julie Edmondson of Tiffin; and three grandchildren, Leyla, Daren and Sara Bozer.
Preceding her in death was a son, Earl.
Mrs. Edmondson graduated from Central High School in Columbus, Class of 1942. She was discharged as pharmacist's mate third class from the U.S. Navy in August 1946. She was stationed at U.S. Naval Hospital, Key West, Fla., where she worked as an X-ray lab technician during World War II. She loved to paint, read listen to music, play organ, collect stamps, and take care of her family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Richard Mahlmann will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Monday service at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation hours are 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Humane Society; Betty Jane Center; and/or The Ritz Theatre.
Grant W. Johnson
Arcadia area resident
Grant W. Johnson, 68, of 18748 SR 12, Arcadia, died at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center at 2:46 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999. He was born July 11, 1931, to Roy Johnson and Bernice Heck Scoarse, who survives in Carey. On April 17, 1955, he married
Carol A. Cole. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Guy Johnson of Findlay; two daughters, Mrs. James (Kim) Cooper of Arcadia and Mrs. James (Shelly) Johnson-Fox of Alvada; three brothers, Bob Johnson of Oak Harbor, Donald Johnson of Carey and Charles "Fritz" Johnson of Carey; two sisters, Anita Gullett of Findlay and Patty Johnson of Carey; a half sister, Mary Louise Johnson of New London; and 10 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were: his father; stepfather, Free "Red" Scoarse; and a half brother Roy "Chappy" Johnson Jr.
Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a corporal in the Korean War. He worked for the San Bernardino County California Highway Department; he was a retired truck driver and member of Teamsters local 20 in Toledo.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia, and Life member of American Legion Post 344, Carey; AMVETS Post 21, Findlay; VFW Post 421, Fostoria and a motorcycle enthusiast.
The Pastor David Bliss will officiate the 11 a.m. Monday funeral at Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey. Burial will be at Memory Gardens, Arcadia. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
Visitation hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Research or Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund c/o the funeral home.
Willard R. Walter
Former Fremont resident
Willard R. Walter, 94, formerly of River Drive, Fremont, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Fremont Center. He was born Nov. 30, 1904, to Jesse S. and Effie M. (Mitchell) Walter in Kansas, Ohio. On April 6, 1933, he married
Mildred P. Dicken. She died June 4, 1995.
Survivors include: four sons, Lee of Bettsville, John and Thomas, both of Fremont, and Allen of New Hampshire; a daughter, Carol Summey of Florida; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Walter graduated from the Jackson Burgoon High School, was a farmer, a laborer at Brush-Wellman, and a custodian at the former Jackson Burgoon High School, retiring in 1969. After retirement he had worked at the Hayes Presidential Center.
Friends will be received in the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, Fremont 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Services will be in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday with visitation an hour prior to service. Burial will take place at Oakwood cemetery.

John B. Melroy
Native of Bloomville
John B. Melroy, 79, of North St., Fremont, died suddenly Friday morning in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital, Fremont. He was born June 19, 1920 in Bloomville to Fred M. and Letah (Shook) Melroy. He was first married
to Laura F. Stark. In November 1979 he married
Maralyn (Keefe) Stine. She survives in Fremont.
Also surviving are: two sons, Herbert "Fred" Melroy of Toledo and John L. Melroy of Tiffin; a stepson, Tom R. Stine of Fremont; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were: his parents; an infant twin brother; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Melroy graduated from Bloomville High School and served in the Army during World War II in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and was in the Reserves for more than 20 years, retiring due to health complications. He worked as a traffic manager for Tiffin Art Metal Co. and later for San Gregory Cartage in Tiffin until 1984. He moved to Fremont some 21 years ago, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, VFW, American Legion and the Kin Hunters, all of Fremont.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary, where friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Burial with military rites will be at Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville, beginning at noon Monday.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Robert H. Johnson
Brother-in-law of Tiffin resident
Robert H. Johnson, 83, of Amlin, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Mount Carmel Medical Center, Columbus.
Surviving are a son, Ron Johnson of Dallas, Texas; a step-son, Victor Sergi of Columbus; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Madeline Johnson and his second wife, Elizabeth Johnson.
His sister-in-law, Grace Johnson, lives in Tiffin.
Mr. Johnson, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a member of Columbus Lodge 30 Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and Eastern Star 55.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen cemetery, Waverly.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus.

William F. Maloney
Basic ceramic engineer
William E. Maloney, 78, died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his residence at 145 Lincoln Road.
He was born in Hornell, N.Y., June 12. 1921, to Thomas F. and Helen (Ryan) Maloney. On Sept. 10, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he married
Rosemarie Springer, who survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Patrick (Susan) Clinton of North Caldwell, N.J. and Mrs. Charles (Christine) Fitz-Gerald of Wilmette, Ill.; a son, T. Michael Maloney of Naperville, Ill.; a brother, Martin J. Maloney of New Berlin, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
A brother, Thomas R.; and a sister, Mary J., are deceased.
Mr. Maloney, a graduate of Alfred University with a degree in ceramic engineering, was employed at U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh 1950-62. He also worked as a research engineer for Basic Inc. (Combustion Engineering) from 1963-85.
A world War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels.
A funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church will be conducted by the Rev. James K. Say at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Pittsburgh, at 2 p.m. Thursday, where military graveside services will be conducted.
Visitation at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
William F. Maloney

Burial for William F. Maloney, 78, of 145 Lincoln Road, who died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, has been changed to St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, following the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jackie N. Hardin
U.S. Air Force retiree
Jackie N. Hardin, 61, of Sandusky Street, Fostoria, was found dead at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at his residence.
He was born April 27, 1938, in New Castle, Ind., to the late
John N. and Myra M. (Minton) Hardin.
Surviving are: two sons, Jack N. Hardin of Ringgold, Ga. and Alexander J. Hardin of South Bend, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Venessa) Oliver and Mrs. Ed (Pamela) Rivera, both of Ootlewah, Tenn.; a brother, James N. Hardin of Grand Rapids, Mich. and six grandchildren.
A sister, Joyce Ankrum, also is deceased.
Mr. Hardin was employed since 1987 as superintendent of Right-of-Way, with Mustang Engineering of Fostoria, and had been with the Independent Pipeline Project since July of 1998.
He also served as dean of Park College in Parkville, Mo. and had owned and operated a heating, air conditioning and refrigeration business in Texas.
He attended the Grove Street Tabernacle, Carey and was a member of the Fostoria Kiwanis Club and the Spiceland, Ind. Masonic Lodge.
He received a bachelors degree in management and human resources and an associate degree in management and organizational behavior, both in 1982 from Park College..
Mr. Hardin retired in 1980 from the U.S. Air Force, after 24 years of service.
The Rev. Clayton Young will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Dayton National cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m.
