Rosemary Yandura, 74, 245 Hall St., died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in the Ruffing Family Care Center of Tiffin.
She was born April 19, 1925, in Tiffin, to Paul T. and Ida A. (Dermer) Swing.
On Nov. 27, 1943, in St. Mary Church, Tiffin, she married
Albert J. Yandura, who survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Suellen Babione of Fremont; two sons, David and Timothy J. Yandura, both of Tiffin; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A son, Albert Yandura Jr.; three sisters, two brothers and two great-grandchildren, also are deceased.
A homemaker, Mrs.Yandura was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Services in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. William Rose officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday until time of the service.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Support Group of Tiffin and Seneca County or the Ruffing Family Care Center of Tiffin.
Anna Rose Benner
Tiffin Homemaker
Anna Rose Benner, 86, 305 S. Sandusky St., died at 9:44 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born in Seneca County, Dec. 28, 1912, to William and Gertrude Rose (Hoepf) Dewald.
Her husband, Paul Benner, whom she married
Nov. 20, 1937, in St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, preceded her in death Oct. 23, 1997.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Peter J. (Patricia) Tinkovicz of Columbus, Fred G. Benner of Delaware, Ohio, Mrs. Steven (Margaret) Hastings of Fostoria and Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Flechtner of Tiffin; two sisters, Mary Elchert of Fostoria and Frances Dewald of Bascom; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Ivo and Herman Dewald; and two sisters, Gertrude Nichols and Dolores Dewald, also are deceased.
Mrs. Benner, a homemaker, had been employed as an inspector at Grabblers; in food service at Heidelberg College and as a housekeeper at Turner-Engle Funeral Home.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society and the Allen Eiry Senior Center.
The Rev. William Rose will be the celebrant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church, where the rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 3:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Commission on Aging or a charity of the donor's choice.
Margaret M. Reed
Tiffin native
Margaret M. Reed, 81, of Attica, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in the Riverview Nursing Home, Oak Harbor.
She was born July 1, 1918, in Tiffin, to Earl A. and Emma (Minzer) Carey.
Her first husband, Jack J. Gutilla, preceded her in death.
In 1977, she married
Richard E. Reed, who survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, Dr. Jack E. Gutilla of Oak Harbor and Bruce E. Gutilla of Sarasota, Fla.; three step-sons, Richard L. Reed of Willard, Gerald L. Reed of New Riegel and Thomas A. Reed of Tiffin; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reed, a 1936 graduate of Attica High School, was an avid bingo player.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica, with the Rev. Joseph P. Szybka of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Howard A. Messersmith
Webster Mfg. retiree
Howard A. Messersmith, 75, of 7838 S. SR 587, McCutchenville, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Johnstown, Pa., to Oliver W. and Maggie J. (Bennett) Messersmith.
On Nov. 5, 1941, he married
Betty V. Felix, who survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jim H. and John D. Messersmith, both of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Joyce) Sarver of McCutchenville and Mary L. Moser of Upper Sandusky; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Grover (Alice) Stochenus of Manns Choice, Pa. and Mrs. Harry (Phyllis) Felix of Alum Bank, Pa.
A son, Donald Andrew Messersmith; four brothers and three sisters, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Messersmith, who had worked in the brick yards and steel mills of Pennsylvania, retired from Webster Mfg. in Tiffin, after 33 years of employment.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the Protestant Faith, American Legion Post 169 and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and a former member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge.
The Rev. Edgar W. Shelly will conduct the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.
Interment will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore, where a military graveside service will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Goldie P. Barth
Upper Sandusky centenarian
Goldie P. Barth, 104, formerly of Deunquat, McCutchenville and the Upper Sandusky area, died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky, where she resided.
She was born in Upper Sandusky, Dec. 19, 1894, to Brooks and Nettie J. (Fritz) Bogart.
Her husband, Russell R. Barth, whom she married
Jan. 18, 1917, in Delaware, Ohio, died Dec. 2, 1972.
The last of her family, survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Helen) Beamer of Upper Sandusky; a son, Richard A. Barth of Pavillion, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, a step-grandson, 30 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandchild.
A brother, Clair Bogart,; and a great-great-grandchild, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barth, a homemaker, also worked in a shoe factory, cigar factory and as an aide until she was 80-years-old at Fairhaven Health Care Community.
She attended Smithville United Methodist Church, rural Upper Sandusky and was a member of Eagles Auxiliary 2184, where she was past madame president.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing, riding horses, playing cards and crocheting.
Services in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating.
Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Fairhaven Health Care Community.
Rosemary Scheiber Weiss
Sister of Tiffin resident
Word has been received of the death of Rosemary Scheiber Weiss, who died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in Bowie, Md.
She was born Oct. 17, 1916, to F. Paul and Helen (Baver) Scheiber.
Surviving are her children, Mrs. Ronald (Ann) Kunz of Bowie, Mrs. Steve (Mary) Waldhorn of Frederick, Md., Mrs. Eltenne (Elizabeth) Lamoreaux of Silver Springs, Md., Raymond Weiss of Carleton, Mich. and Frank Weiss of Painesville;12 grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Sauvain of Narragansett, R.I. and Martha Musgrave of Tiffin.
Three brothers, Frederick, Paul and John Scheiber, also are deceased.
Mrs. Weiss was a 1934 graduate of Calvert High School.
The body has been cremated.
A memorial Mass was Sept. 25 in Bowie.

Phillip Artino
Former City of Clyde employee
Phillip Artino, 91, of Mulberry Street, Clyde, died in the Bellevue Hospital Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999.
He was born in Cleveland, Dec. 21, 1907, to Sam and Rose (Santora) Artino.
His wife, Madeline (Sackrider) Artino, survives.
A brother, William Artino, also survives in Bellevue.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, Carl, Joseph, Charles, Anthony and Frank Artino.
Mr. Artino, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, had worked for the City of Clyde and at Castalia Quarry.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jeff Nordhaus officiating.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde is 9:30 a.m. today until time of the prayer service at 10:45 a.m.
Joel Eugene Omlor
Retired teacher/coach
Joel Eugene Omlor, 64, of 7139 N. CR 33, Tiffin, died at his home Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
He was a retired school teacher, coach and bus driver.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Old Fort United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs.
Anthony B. 'Buddy' Woodward

Anthony Bradley "Buddy" Woodward, 20, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at his home in Arcadia.
Arrangements are pending at the Coldron-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay.
Anneli Cahn Lax
Noted mathematician
NEW YORK (AP) - Anneli Cahn Lax, the editor of the Mathematical Association of America's New Mathematical Library Series, died Friday.
She was 77.
Ms. Lax retired in 1992 from New York University, where she taught for 31 years.
In her dissertation at NYU, she made significant contributions to the theory of hyperbolic equations, a mathematical theory about aspects of the behavior of waves.
