William E. Etzinger, 70, of West Jackson Street, Fostoria, died at 10:21 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.
David L. "Bear" Bloom
1959 Mohawk High School graduate
David L. "Bear" Bloom, 58, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at his residence at 4851 Bloominggrove Road, Galion, following a nine months illness.
He was born in Upper Sandusky, May 20, 1941, the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Gatchell) Bloom. His mother survives in Upper Sandusky.
Other survivors include: his wife, the former Becky Nickell, whom he married
July 12, 1991; his former wife, Laura Susan Drew Bloom; two sons, Michael J. Bloom of Galion and David Matthew Bloom of Ashland; a daughter, Kelly Marie Bloom of Columbus; two step-sons, John T. Jr. and Marc Adam Campbell, both of Mansfield; six grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Bloom of Upper Sandusky; two sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Diane) Burks of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Richard (Darla) Hudson of Carey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bloom, a 1959 graduate of Mohawk High School, worked for 34 years as a die maker for General Motors of Ontario.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, having served for three years, he was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church of Galion, the Fellowship of Married Christians, A.A., the Ohio Association for the Deaf, UAW Local 589 of Mansfield and Galion Moose Lodge 303.
He was a former member of the Galion Jaycees and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Council on Aging.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home of Galion, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Philip Raynes will be the officiant.

Martha Helen Saltzman
Rural Alvada homemaker
Martha Helen Saltzman, 80, of 22816 CR 3, Alvada, died at 7:55 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, in the Winebrenner Village, Findlay.
She was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Wyandot County, to William M. and Ethel (Kloepfer) Walter. On Jan. 15, 1941, she married
Alvin John Saltzman, who died July 1, 1996.
Survivors include: her step-mother, Frona M. Phillips of Carey; four sons, Clair of Arcadia, Lewis of Carey and David and Fred, both of Alvada; five daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Sarah) Searfoss, Mrs. Larry (Janet) Fry and Mrs. Richard (Carol) Tong, all of Findlay, Mrs. David (Mary) Tong of Arcadia and Mrs. Kendall (Joyce) Thomas of Vanlue; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul E. and Lewis W. Walter, both of Carey; two sisters, Mrs. Carlton (Esther C.) Cole and Kathryn Ruth Mohn, both of Carey; three half-brothers, Jack E., Stephen H. and James M. Walter, all of Carey; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Naomi F.) Davis of Findlay and Mrs. Richard (Susan K.) Shaferly of Alvada.
Two brothers, Elmer D. and Dale Walter; two grandsons, a granddaughter and a great-grandson, also are deceased.
Mrs. Saltzman, a homemaker, was a member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, Alvada and attended the Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
The Rev. Buck Traylor will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, near Carey. Burial will be in Hickory Grove cemetery, Biglick Township.
Visitation at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association and the Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
Dorothy J. Burkett
Former Clyde/Bellevue resident
DorothyJ. Burkett, 81, of Toledo, formerly of Bellevue and Clyde, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, in Flower Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1918, in Toledo, to Stanley and Emily (Wiedersatz) Quisno. Her husband, Glen J. Burkett, whom she married
Feb. 10, 1939, survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, Stanley A. Burkett of Vermillion and Charles Burkett of Toledo; three grandsons; and two sisters, Mrs. Russell (Emily) Burkett and Rhea Quisno, both of Fremont.
Mrs. Burkett, a 1936 graduate of Townsend High School, had been employed at the Howard Zink Corp.in Fremont. She moved to Toledo in 1966.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service.

V. Everett Johnson
Western Union retiree
V. Everett Johnson, 98, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, in the Browning Home, Browning Drive, Waterville, where he resided.
He was born in Petersburg, Ill., April 18, 1901, to Henry W. and Emma Jane (White) Johnson. On July 2, 1921, he married
Violett Beebe Johnson, who preceded him in death Aug. 31, 1991.
Surviving are three sisters, Clara Cook of Connecticut and Berneice Farquhar and Ulda J. Poland, both of Maryland.
Mr Johnson, who received his education in Kansas and Springfield, Ill., retired in 1968 as a maintenance inspector from Western Union Telegraph, where he had been employed for 52 years.
Also formerly of Chicago, Ill., Cincinnati and Toledo, he was a member of Yondota Lodge 572, Toledo..
Private services will be Tuesday. Interment will be in Tew cemetery.
The Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is in charge of arrangements.
Cyrillus J. Daniel
Bloomville Lumber former co-owner
Cyrillus J. Daniel, 81, of Jefferson Street, Bloomville, died Saturday morning, Aug. 14, 1999, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, after many years of ill health.
He was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Venice Township, Seneca County, to Otto and Lucy (Felter) Daniel. He married
Lelah Hemminger Gainey on Nov. 18, 1955, in St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, Attica. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Daniel J. Gainey of Springfield and Edwin L. Daniel of Hilliard; five grandchildren, Erin Daniel, Taylor and Sally Gainey and Lukas and Clay Daniel; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rueben Daniel; and a sister, Dorothy Ball.
Mr. Daniel, a member of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, Attica, was formerly the co-owner of the Bloomville Lumber Co., selling the business in 1979. He then worked at the Buckeye Do-It Center in Tiffin, retiring in 1994.
He also was a member of Attica American Legion, where he was a 50 year member; and a 52 year charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Attica Council 3062.
He enjoyed traveling and playing cards and also was a member of the Bloomville Lions Club, where he served as past president and had perfect attendance for 31 years; Bloom Township Grange, where he was a 26 year member and the Bloomville Board of Public Affairs, where he served for 21 years and was past president.
Mr. Daniel served in World War II in the European Theatre as a surgical nurse in the 32nd Evacuation Hospital Corp. He also served in the 42nd and 77th Evacuation. He attended 53 reunions of the 77th Evac and helped organize the 32nd Evac Reunion in 1986, in Gauly Bridge, W.Va.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev.Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Attica American Legion.
Visitation at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, rural Bloomville is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today, with a rosary service at 6:45 p.m. and Lions Club visitation at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Bloomville EMS or the Bloomville Lions Club.
Minnie B. Goeller
Housewife
Minnie B. Goeller, 88, of 14 Westwood Court, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 13, 1999, in St. Francis Home, following an extended illness.
She was born March 26, 1911, in Bascom, to Solomon and Rosa (Reinbolt) Litzenberger. On June 20, 1931, she married
Marion Goeller. He died Dec. 31, 1987.
Survivors include: 19 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Miller and a niece, Carol Clark.
Mrs. Goeller, who lived most of her life in Bloomville, except for 13 years in Florida, was a homemaker and former employee of the Pioneer Rubber Co. in Attica and the Tiffin Glass House.
A 1929 graduate of Bloomville High School, she was a member of the United Church of Christ, Bloomville.
She collected elephants most of her life, acquiring more than 1,500, and donated her collection to the Seneca County Museum.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the United Church of Christ, Bloomville, with the Rev. Diane Grohmann officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.
Memorials may be made to the church or Community Hospice Care.
Charles F. Jonas
Jonas Watch Repair owner
Charles F. Jonas, 84, of 124 N. Hazel St., Upper Sandusky, died at 6:03 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, in the Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
He was born in Upper Sandusky Feb. 2, 1915, to Charles Henry and Ella (Plate) Jonas. On July 23, 1942, he married
Martha E. Steiner. She died March 29, 1993.
A sister, Evelyn Bauer, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Jonas, owner of Jonas Watch Repair, was a 1932 Upper Sandusky High School graduate.He also attended Western Penn Watch Making School for two years.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky; Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post 2842 and the Wyandot County Sportsman Club.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European/African/Middle Eastern Theater, he was awarded the purple heart.
He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and hunting pheasants and rabbits.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
There will be no visitation. The Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the church.
William E. 'Bill' Etzinger
Retired engineer
William E. "Bill" Etzinger, 70, of 535 W. Jackson St., Fostoria, died in the Fostoria Community Hospital at 10:21 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999.
He was born in Bucyrus Jan. 11, 1929, to Robert H. and Florence L. (Robertson) Etzinger. His mother, now Florence Etzinger-Reese, survives in Fostoria. His wife, Mary Jane (Yates) Etzinger, whom he married
Oct. 30, 1953, in Wadsworth, also survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: two sons, William E. II and Andrew J. Etzinger, both of Fostoria; two daughters, Stacy A. Trout of Arcadia and Mrs. Michael (Jane) Reinhart of Fostoria; a brother, Robert J. Etzinger of Fostoria; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Bateson of Bloomdale and Mrs. Paul (Mary) Heckathorn of Fostoria; and nine grandchildren.
His father and a sister, Joann Calmes, are deceased..
Mr. Etzinger, a 1946 graduate of Fostoria High School, retired in 1991 as an engineer from Fostoria Industries, where he had been employed for more than 20 years. He also worked many years at the Mann Funeral Home in Fostoria.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Elks Lodge 935, both of Fostoria; Fostoria Lodge 288 Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite-Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine, Toledo and the Fostoria Shrine Club, where he had served as president in 1986. He was a former member of Fostoria Vanguards.
The Rev. Richard Hofmann will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery, West Millgrove.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic memorial services will be at 7.

Mildred I. Lear

Mildred I. Lear, 79, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at her residence at 533 S. Warpole St., Upper Sandusky.
She was born Dec. 22, 1919, in Kenton, to William and Mary (Boop) Sherman. On March 13, 1940, in the bride's home in Marseilles Township, she married
Ralph H. Lear. He died March 11, 1989.
Survivors include: a son, David W. Lear of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Mary Ann) Morris of Upper Sandusky; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Baker of Kenton.
A brother, William Sherman and a sister, Kathryn Sims, also are deceased.
Mrs. Lear, a homemaker, was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, and its Women of the ELCA.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation at the Lucas Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, is 7-9 p.m. today and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the church, Hospice of Wyandot County or the Wyandot Health Foundation.
Evelyn Marie Burns

Evelyn Marie (Creeger) Burns, 84, 319 Clinton Ave., died at 1:55 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, in the Autumnwood Care Center, where she had resided since June 29, 1998,
She was born in Hopewell Township, Seneca County, March 7, 1915, to Ross and Susie (King) Creeger. Her husband, Kenneth Willard Burns, who she married
Oct. 15, 1938, survives.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Beverly Ann (Burns) Frey McCallister of Spencer; three grandchildren, Connie Christine Frey, Steven James Frey and Kelly Jo McCallister; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Orphy Fraley of Tiffin.
Preceding her in death were five brothers, Merle, Howard, Ralph, Clifford and Theodore Creeger; and two sisters, Helen Dunlap and Dorothy Ottney.
A homemaker, Mrs. Burns was a member of the First Christian Church and Eastern Star Tiffin Chapter 189.
A lifetime Seneca County resident, she was a 1933 graduate of Bloomville High School.
The Rev. David C. Mills will conduct the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home, where Eastern Star Tiffin Chapter 189 services will be at 7:30 p.m. today.
