Leila V. Rohr
Fremont teacher
Leila V. Rohr, 92, of Stevenson Street, Fremont, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Autumnwood Care Center.
She was born in Shippenville, Pa., on June 11, 1906, to Rev. Albert Rohr and Viola Ernst.
Leila V. Rohr is survived by a great niece, Sally (Moneghan) Moffett, Tiffin; other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers: Alison, Flavius, Joseph, Lewis, Elmer, Charles and Albert Rohr; and two sisters, Marie Bowersox and Zella Robinson.
She was a teacher in the Fremont City School system and retired in 1959.
She attended Shippenville Public Schools until 1916, when her father received a call to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsway; graduated from Fremont Public High School in 1925; and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in education. She then began her teaching career in a one-room school house, first at Bower School and completed her 17th year at Glasser School in Rice Township. She then taught fifth grade and music at Croghan School in Fremont, where she remained for 25 years and retired after 42 years of teaching. Before moving to Fremont, she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsway, where she had been confirmed by her father; taught Sunday School for 35 years; was secretary for the church; and an active member of the choir. In Fremont, she was a member of the Croghan Garden Club, State Teacher Retirement Association, St. Mark's Lutheran Church Circle, Fremont Federation of Women and the Fremont Travel Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsway, with the Rev. Richard Moe officiating. Burial will be at the Greenwood cemetery in Kingsway.
Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home in Fremont; and 10-11 a.m. Monday, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsway.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsway; First English Lutheran Church, Tiffin; or a charity of the donor's choice.
Elizabeth Adams
Legal assistant
Elizabeth Adams, 59, died Friday May 21, 1999, at her home in River Hills, S.C.
She was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Licine, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Anna Punka Bene, who survives in Little River, S.C., and the late Joseph Bene. Her husband, George E. Adams, also survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Robert Adams of Columbus; and a daughter, Kelly Schultz of Raleigh, N.C.
Mrs. Adams, a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church, had been employed as a legal assistant for the law firm of Louis M. Cook.
Prior to moving to the River Hills area from Tiffin in 1998, she was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and the Y-Wives, where she had served as past president.
A memorial service is 3 p.m. today in Risen Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Carl M. Gnewuch officiating.

Arlyn Lee Newhouse
Whirlpool Corp. retiree
Arlyn Lee Newhouse, 74, of West Cherry Street, Clyde, died Friday, May 21, 1999, in Firelands Hospital, Sandusky.
He was born in Willard, Seneca County, March 26, 1925, to Jorn and Addie (Rader) Newhouse. His wife, Patricia (Souder) Newhouse, whom he married
March 5, 1949, survives.
Survivors also include: a son, John A. Newhouse of Bellevue; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Linda) Noftz of Clyde; a sister, Mrs. Raymond M. (Garland) Rex of Willard; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Rodger L. Newhouse, who died in 1976; a brother, Fred Newhouse; and two sisters, Gladys Walter and Helen Newhouse, also are deceased.
Mr. Newhouse, a long-time Clyde area resident, retired in 1984 from management at Whirlpool Corp., where he had been employed for 30 years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Clyde, Clyde Eagles, the VFW and Clyde Auxiliary Police 1962-70.
He received his education in the Attica schools and was active in Boy Scouts. His hobbies included photography and woodworking.
The Rev. Steve Wood will be the officiant at the noon Tuesday service in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service.

William Mullins
B & O Railroad retiree
William Mullins, 82, 92 Thomas St., died at 11:56 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 1999, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay, where he had been a patient for 12 days.
He was born May 17, 1917, in Salt Lick Hollow, Magoffin County, Ky., to Kenneth and Eda (Wireman) Mullins. His wife, Violet (Karp) Hartsell Mullins, whom he married
Nov. 15, 1957, survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Sylvia) Eyestone of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Melvin (Alice) Gustin of Tiffin; two stepsons, Robbie Hartsel of Pickerington and Dennis Hartsel of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.; and six sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Kathryn) Sturgill of Columbus, Mrs. Guy (Susie) Sturgill of Marion, Mrs. Oliver (Marie) Varner of Reynoldsburg, Mrs. Lowell (Luella) Powell of Kilbourne, Mrs. Harold (Earlene) Skeels of Delaware, Ohio, and Mrs. John (Emma Jean) Scroggins of Mt. Gilead.
A grandchild, two brothers, Ken Jr. and Wayne Mullins; and five sisters, Stella Wagner, Pauline Morgan, Evalee Mooney, Reva Amos and Elsie Mullins, are deceased.
Mr. Mullins, formerly of Willard, Celeryville and Fostoria, retired from the B & O Railroad.
The Rev. Al Wilkes will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Tuesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and one hour before the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Marion Edward Brenamen
Retired life-long Seneca County farmer
Marion Edward Brenamen, 80, of 3241 N. CR 39, Fostoria, died at 10:48 a.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born in Wood County Nov. 17, 1918, to Martin E. and Alma C. (Gessner) Brenamen. On Sept. 20, 1947, in St. Johns Catholic Church, Jackson, Mich., he married
Marie Ann Pahl. She survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Patricia) Clagg of Fostoria; four sons, Michael E. and Donald M. Brenamen, both of Fostoria, Daniel M. Brenamen of Cridersville and Timothy A. Brenamen of Indianapolis, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Howard V. and Paul E. Brenamen, preceded him in death.
Mr. Brenamen, a retired lifelong Seneca County farmer, also was a custodial maintenance worker for the Lakota School District and at St. Wendelin Schools.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and the Seneca County Farm Bureau.
A funeral Mass in St. Wendelin Catholic Church will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited at the church at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where the rosary will be recited at 8:30.
Memorials may be in the form of Mass intentions or to a charity of the donor's choice.

James C. Sauber, 59, 1300 CR 6, died in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin Sunday evening May 23, 1999. Arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

The United Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services in Fairmont cemetery, following the 2:30 p.m. service today in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, for Frank D. Horvay, who died Friday, May 21, 1999.
Ruth M. Winkler
Marathon Oil Co. retiree
Ruth M. Winkler, 82, of Fox Run Road, Findlay, died at her residence at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 1999.
She was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Portage County, to Charles and Susan (Gossman) Winkler.
Survivors include: a sister, Dorothy Winkler-Schafer of Findlay and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Lloyd, Ivan, Ralph and Leroy Winkler, and three sisters, Lillian Crane, Bessie Marquart and Kathryn Thompson.
Miss Winkler, a 1934 graduate of Rawson High School, retired in 1980 as a group leader in the computer department at Marathon Oil Co., Findlay. She also attended Tiffin Business School.
She was a member of the Findlay Senior Citizens.
Memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Berdie Dell officiating.
There will be no visitation.

David Patrick Sweeney

David Patrick Sweeney, 27, of 12316 Oakview Blvd., Cleveland, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999, in Marymount Hospital, Garfield Heights.
He was born in Port Clinton July 27, 1971, to David E. and Sharon (Miller) Sweeney, who survive in Cleveland. On July 15, 1995, in Tiffin, he married
Linda Osborn. She also survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Alexandria Nichole Sweeney, at home; a sister, Mrs. Larry (Stephanie) Channels of Kansas, Ohio; and a brother, Jason Sweeney, of Tiffin.
Mr. Sweeney, a graduate of Columbian High School and Terra Technical College, had been employed as a quality engineer at Lester Precision Die Casting in Cleveland since February of this year. He previously worked for Ohio Aluminum Industries.
He was a member of the Protestant faith.
Ray Miller, John Wilbur and Simon Dean will conduct the 10:30 a.m. Thursday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James C. Sauber
Self-employed contractor
James C. Sauber, 59, 1300 W. CR 6, died at 6:44 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999, in the Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
He was born Dec. 21, 1939, in Tiffin, to the late Charles C. and Sylvia (Funk) Sauber. His wife, Sharon M. (Foos) Sauber, whom he married
Dec. 31, 1997, in Galion, survives.
Survivors also include: his stepmother, Irene Sauber of Tiffin; two daughters, Laurie McKenzie of Tennessee and Brooke Sauber of Tiffin; four sons, Dean McKenzie of Tennessee, Bradley James Sauber of North Carolina and James J. "J.J." and Zachary Sauber, both of Tiffin; two brothers, George and Joseph Sauber, both of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Joe (Mary "Kay") Ranker of Tiffin; a stepsister, Gretchen Bartley of Tiffin; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School, Mr. Sauber was a self-employed in general construction. He also was the owner of Sauber Raceway in Sycamore.
He was a member of the Catholic Faith and A.A.
The Rev. William Rose will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday service in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Burial will be in McCutchenville cemetery.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mabel G. Warren
Fostoria homemaker
Mabel G. Warren, 90, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 1999, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria, where she resided.
She was born in Beaverdam Jan. 28, 1909, to Samuel and Cora (Coats) Long. On Feb. 23, 1929, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she married
Herman G. Warren. He died Dec. 25, 1967.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Danny (Nancy) Pelton of Fostoria and Mrs. Ray (Jean) Griffith of Dover; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were five brothers, James, William, George and Donald Long and Howard Carter; a sister, Velma Lee; and two grandchildren.
A homemaker, Mrs. Warren attended the United Brethren Church in Fostoria.
Services will be private and there will be no visitation. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Nursing Home Activity Center.

Donald J. Smith
Burgoon resident's father
Donald J. Smith, 69, of Coldwater, Mich., died Friday, May 21, 1999, in Orlando, Fla., where he had wintered the past four years.
He was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Allen County to Leo and Dorothy (Hively) Smith. His wife Joan (Schenher) Smith, survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Gregory Smith of Greensboro, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Susan) Michaels of Burgoon and Mrs. George (Julie) Cadarette of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren; four brothers, the Rev. Larry and Max and Roger Smith, all of Churubusco, Ind., and David Smith of Uniondale, Ind.; and two sisters, Phyllis Meyer of Perham, Minn., and Marilyn Waterson of Huntertown, Ind.
Mr.Smith worked as a salesman for Michigan Wholesalers, Fort Wayne Division, covering Northern Indiana and Northwest Ohio for 28 years, retiring in 1995.
Formerly of Fort Wayne, where he had resided for 30 years, he had lived in the Coldwater area since 1995, having spent summers in the area since 1985.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Mr. Smith attended St. Charles Church, Coldwater, where he spent the past two summers reworking the kneelers in the church .
He was a member of Knights of Columbus 2900 and American Legion Post 52, both of Coldwater.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Charles Catholic Church, 150 Taylor St., Coldwater, with the Rev. Robert Creagan as celebrant. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National cemetery, Augusta, Mich.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at the Dutcher Funeral Home, 440 W. Chicago St., Coldwater, where a wake service will be at 8 p.m. Visitation also will be at the church before the service on Wednesday.
