Florence E. Wagner
Fostoria Autolite retiree
Florence E. Wagner, 83, of West Center Street, Fostoria, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, 1999, at Fostoria Community Hospital.
She was born Aug. 20, 1916, at Benton Ridge to Fredrick and Martha (Neiffer) Roberts. She married
Claude H. Wagner in September 1932 in Greenup, Ky. He died June 23, 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann Biddle of Fostoria; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Carlton and Fredrick Roberts; and a sister, Blanche Burks.
Mrs. Wagner retired in 1984 from Autolite Corp. (now Allied Signal Corporation), after 40 years' employment.
She was active in church activities, a member of the Naomi Circle; worked in the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen, and donated her time as a Good Shepherd Home volunteer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the High Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Memorials may be made to the High Street United Methodist Church.
Nellie F. Ekleberry
Upper Sandusky homemaker
Nellie F. Ekleberry, 95, 720 N. 8th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 12:01 p.m. Friday, April 30, 1999, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ekleberry was born Dec. 3, 1903, to Perry F. and Frizzie B. (Mooney) Gilliland in Wyandot County. On March 25, 1924, she married
Raymond Ekleberry. He died Feb. 15, 1967.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Neva Jean Orians; and a son, Darwin W. "Bub" Ekleberry, both of Upper Sandusky; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Odessa Sweigard; two brothers, Harry Gilliland and Paul Guthrie, all of Upper Sandusky.
Two sisters, two brothers and a great-grandson preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ, Women's Guild of the church, and a former member of Wyandot County Senior Citizens.
Services for Mrs. Ekleberry will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, with interment in the Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Sycamore United Church of Christ or to a donor's choice.
Mary Grace Strasser
Rural Tiffin homemaker
Mary Grace Strasser, 79, 60 N. SR 101, died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 1999, in St. Francis Home.
She was born in Tiffin, Jan. 27, 1920, to Francisco and Mariantonia (Giaruffo) Dariano. On Sept. 29, 1941, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married
Thomas F. Strasser. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1993.
Survivors include: four sons, James T. Strasser of Toledo, Dennis J. Strasser of Brighton, Mich., Philip J. Strasser of Chesterfield, Mo., and Joseph A. Strasser of Toledo; four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Anthony and Matthew Dariano, all of Tiffin; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Rose) Cool of McComb, Mrs. Ray (Michelina) Hoepf of Bowling Green, Mrs. James (Helen) Gaietto and Mrs. Don (Carmella) Corthell, both of Tiffin; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Thomas "Binky" Strasser, and two sisters, Joanna Pacifico and Carmella Dariano, are deceased.
Mrs. Strasser, a homemaker, attended Calvert and Columbian high schools.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society, St. Francis Auxiliary, Council 86 Catholic Ladies of Columbia of Upper Sandusky and served as a promoter for the Sacred Heart League and Miraculous Medal.
A funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Frank Murd as celebrant. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home will be 2-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Binky Strasser Scholarship Fund at Calvert High School.
Betty Ann Hayes
Tiffin homemaker
Betty Ann Hayes, 67, 325 Jackson St., died at 9:21 a.m. Monday, May 3, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
She was born in Tiffin, May 26, 1931, to the late Theodore and Ida (Dermer) Swing. On May 15, 1948, in Tiffin, she married
James A. Hayes Sr. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Karen K. Joseph of Tiffin and Mrs. James (Barbara) Kopp of Republic; three sons, Michael P. Hayes of Bryan, Gregg A. Hayes of Amsden and Todd C. Hayes of Tiffin; a sister, Rose Mary Yondura of Tiffin; 14 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, James A. Hayes Jr.; two sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Hayes, a homemaker, was employed as a nurse's aide for eight years at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She also worked for two years at the former Cook's Supermarket.
She attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Dorcas Circle of Rollin Baptist Church, Rollin, Mich.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Al Wilkes officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society-Seneca County Unit or a charity of the donor's choice.
Addaline E. Lindsay
Oil company co-owner
Addaline E. Lindsay, 86, 369 W. Market St., died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, May 2, 1999, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, where she had been a patient for four days.
She was born June 10, 1912, in Omaha, Neb., to Ward E. and Mary Ida (Woods) Lewis. Her husband, Kenneth E. Lindsay, whom she married
June 29, 1946, in Tiffin, survives.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Ward L. and Percy D. Lewis; and three sisters, Dolly M. Madsen, Laura E. Whitman and Joy I. Flanagan.
Mrs. Lindsay, with her husband, was the owner of G & L Oil Co. of Tiffin. She also had been employed as a dental nurse and X-ray technologist.
A graduate of Lusk High School, Lusk, Wyo. and Barnes Secretarial Course, Denver, Colo., she was a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lindsay had resided in the Tiffin area more than 50 years.
The Rev. Larry P. Smith will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home is 7-9 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
James M. Mowrey

James M. Mowrey, 78, of Wayne, died in the Heartland of Browning, Waterville, at 7:30 a.m. Monday, May 3, 1999.
He was born Aug. 18, 1920, near West Bedford, Ohio, to David M. and Zella M. (Hagans) Mowrey. On Jan. 20, 1945, in Sioux Falls, S.D., he married
Doris Evelyn Gries. She died Aug. 1, 1980.
Survivors include: four sons, David C. Mowrey of Carey, Daniel W. Mowrey of Houston, Texas, Douglas J. Mowrey of Findlay and Dennis R. Mowrey of Delaware, Ohio; a brother, David Mowrey of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Margene Mayhew of Coshocton and nine grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a granddaughter, two brothers, Harold and Denver Mowrey, and a sister, Doris Bonham.
A 1938 graduate of New Castle High School, Mr. Mowrey worked for Prairie Farmers Co-op, Wayne, and retired from the Bascom Grain Association in 1980.
He was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church, president of Wayne/Bradner Senior Citizens, 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Wood County Shrine Club.
A life member of the Green Springs American Legion, he had served on the Ohio Farmers Board of Directors for 12 years and was a member of the Elmwood Board of Education for 16 years.
Services in the Wayne United Methodist Church will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Betty Wineland officiating. Interment will be in Graham cemetery, Wayne.
Visitation at the Barndt Funeral Home, Wayne, will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday.The body also will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the church or the Wayne Public Library.
Essie E. Leatherman
Retired Allied-Autolite employee
Essie E. Leatherman, 74, died at 3:55 p.m. Monday, May 3, 1999, at the home of her cousin, Ronald Griffin, 1028 Sandusky St., Fostoria. She formerly lived at 340 George St., Findlay.
Mrs. Leatherman was born Dec. 17, 1924, to Wesley and Madella (Routson) Hampshire in Fostoria. She married
Gaylen M. Leatherman June 20, 1953. He died in 1993.
She is survived by several cousins.
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Betty Routson, and a brother, Don Ish.
Mrs. Leatherman retired from Allied-Autolite in Fostoria after 30 years.
She was a graduate of Fostoria High School and affiliated with Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, Carey.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, with burial in Memory Gardens near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice or Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, c/o of the funeral home.
Faythe A. Vent
Former Tiffin radio announcer
Faythe A. Vent, 73, died Monday, May 3, 1999, in the Country Villa Rehab Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
She was born Jan. 20, 1926, to Otto A. and Lucia E. (Hollett) Vent in Wyandot County.
Surviving are two sisters, Julia Kissling of Nevada, Ohio, and Murial Brown of Texas City, Texas; a brother, Henry Vent of Nevada; two nieces and four nephews.
Ms. Vent graduated from Nevada High School in 1944 and from Heidelberg College in 1948 with a B.S. in education. She later received her doctorate in speech pathology from UCLA. She worked as a radio announcer for many years with radio stations in Tiffin, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit and Los Angeles. She then served as a speech pathologist in Children's Hospitals in Los Angeles. Later she was a computer operator with the Los Angeles Water Dept.
She was a former member of the Nevada Lutheran Church.
Private services will be at a later date with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. The Lucas Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

Cyril C. Lucius

Cyril C. Lucius, 75, died at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital. He resided at 808 Shore Drive, Fostoria.
Mr. Lucius was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Seneca County to Edward Lucius and Florence (Shultz) Lucius-Kinn.
He married
Eileen M. Burns July 20, 1946, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael H. and Greg R. Lucius, both of Fostoria; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Lucius of Columbus and C. James Lucius of Toledo; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Mary Lou) Logsdon of Fostoria and Mrs. Marlin (Norma) Black of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad; a brother, Carl Lucius; and two sisters, Alma Lucius and Shirley Brickner.
Mr. Lucius retired in 1985 from the "Gauge Room" of Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, after 44 years.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Church in Fostoria, and a World War II U. S. Navy veteran.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Wendelin Church followed by burial in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Sharing Kitchen of Fostoria or Mass Intentions to the Church.

Oral Abbott, 87, 1713 Japack Drive, Fremont, died at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 1999, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.
The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Hayes United Methodist Church of Fremont.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Thursday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home, Green Springs. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church before the service Friday. The complete obituary will be in Thursday's paper.
