Carletin H. Peck
Area resident
Carletin H. Peck, 86, of Birdseye St., Clyde died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Arbors of Clyde. He was born Sept. 10, 1912, to McCauley and Amy (Spaide) Peck. On Oct. 14, 1942, he married
Bernadine Horning, and she survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Layne (Carleen) Astle of Grande View, Idaho, and five grandchildren.
Preceded indeath were: four sisters, Dorothy Pfeiffer, Mae Cloud, Winfred Heal and Betty Rader.
Mrs. Peck was a class of 1930, Clyde High School graduate and also an Oberlin Business College graduate. She worked as a tax auditor and Director of Human services in Sandusky County. A member of the Presbyterian Church in Clyde, she retired in 1974.
Margaret Rancher
Clyde resident
Margaret Rancher, 82, of St. Rte. 412, Clyde, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at the Bellvue Hospital. She was born Nov. 25, 1916, to Frank and Mary (Brown) Hoelzer.
Surviving include: two sons, Dean Downing of Clyde, and Dave Downing of Bellvue; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Sharon) Patton of Clyde, and Mrs. James (Mari Lou) Miller of Clyde; two step-daughters, Debbie Olleveides, and Mrs. Mario (Darla) Vara, both of Brownsville, Texas; a brother, Joe Hoelzer of Sandusky; and two sisters, Doris Ryan of Castalia, and Mary Judy Lawrence of Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death were: three brothers, Frank (Sam) Hoelzer, Norman Hoelzer, and Raymond (Bud) Hoelzer; and a sister Ida Mae Anderson.
Mrs. Rancher was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Sandusky. She worked for the Turnpike Plaza and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home. Burial will be at Parkhurst cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. paul Lutheran Church Renovation Fund, Forest St., Clyde, Ohio.
Eunice E. Heilman
Homemaker
Eunice E. Heilman, 85, of 575 E. Perry St., Tiffin, died at 2:20 p.m., Friday, April 16, 1999, at St. Catherine's Care Center. She was born on April 29, 1913, to Henry and Jannie (Zahn) Roszman. On March 3, 1931, she married
Harold Heilman; he died June 21, 1962.
Surviving include: two sons, Robert H. Heilman of McCuthenville, and Donald L. Heilman of Sycamore; a brother, Clyde Roszman; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death were: two sisters, Amelia Howard Walker and Nona Heilman Cash.
Mrs. Heilman was a homemaker and a member of the following: Redeemer Lutheran Church; Women of Moose Chapter 1001, Tiffin; Tiffin Eagles; Dav Post 34; VFW Post 2858; and the American Legion Post 0169 in Tiffin.
The Rev. Roy Howell will officiate the 2 p.m. Monday service at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.
Visitation hours are from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
M. Elizabeth Melroy
Sycamore resident
M. Elizabeth Melroy, 89, formerly of 1494 CH 36, Sycamore, for the last three years at Wyandot County Nursing Home, died at 4:15 p.m., Friday, April 16, 1999. She was born June 4, 1909, to Lloyd I. and Florence (Banks) Dunlap. On Oct. 11, 1930, she married
Laurel Melroy; he died may 11, 1967.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Virginia) Stillberger of Sycamore; a sister Mrs. Alice Hannum of Sycamore; two grandchildren, Todd and Troy Stillberger; and two great grandchildren, Alec and Logan Stillberger.
Mrs. Melroy was a 1927 graduate of Sycamore High School and a 1928 graduate of Tiffin University. She worked at the former Sycamore Lumber Company and retired as an office worker, working at Wyandot County Recorders Office and Clerk of Courts. Memberships included: Sycamore United Church of Christ; former member Deunquat Lutheran Church, Sycamore, where she taught Sunday school for many years; and Mohawk Sixty Plus Club, Sycamore.
The Rev. Edgar W. Shelly will officiate the 11 a.m. Tuesday service at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Benton cemetery, Crawford County.
Visitation hours are from 6-9 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Sycamore United Church of Christ.
William Harloff
Tiffin resident
William Harloff, 66, 7 W. Market St., died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday April 17, 1999, in the IHS at Waterford Commons, Toledo.
He was born in Tiffin, Feb. 28, 1933, and adopted by the late William and Bertha (Myers) Harloff. On March 13, 1972, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, he married
Treva B. Penrod. She preceded him in death Oct. 18, 1992.
Surviving are: a half-sister, Alberta Caldwell of Republic; a step-daughter, Agnes Christine Greenwald; two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Harloff, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, had been employed as a taxi office dispatcher.
Graveside services in Fairmont cemetery will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Esther M. Theis, 78, of 22 N. Perry St., New Riegel, died Saturday April 17, 1999, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria. Services are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Dorothy R. Ferguson
Tiffin homemaker
Dorothy R. Ferguson, 79, died at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 1999, at her home at 77 Charlotte St.
She was born in Tiffin Oct. 25, 1919, to John and Mary Elizabeth (Wise) Nichols. On March 4, 1940, in Napoleon and at St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, she married
Everett E. Ferguson. He died July 24, 1987.
Surviving are: two sons, James E. and Robert A. Ferguson, both of Tiffin; a sister, Monica Nevill of California; and six grandchildren.
Three sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Mrs. Ferguson, a homemaker, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Services in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home will be conducted by Msgr. Edward Dunn at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society-Seneca County Unit, Community Hospice Care or a charity of the donor's choice.
Betty Jane Pahl
Former Tiffin resident
Word has been received of the death of Betty Jane Pahl, 75, formerly of Tiffin and more recently of Winter Haven, Fla., who died there Wednesday April 14, 1999.
She was born in Tiffin Aug. 24, 1923, to Raymond P. and Ethel (Lowery) O'Connor. Her husband, Thomas W. Paul, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Anita Gaddy of Winter Haven and Amy Doran of Livonia, Mich.; a grandson; a sister, Mrs.Howard (Jean) Sponseller of Asheville, N.C.; and a brother Raymond P. O'Connor Jr. of Albany, Ga.
Mrs. Paul's aunt, Mrs. Alma O'Connor, lives in Tiffin.
Graveside services were Saturday in Glen Abbey cemetery, Auburndale, Fla.
Tommy A. Hildreth
National Lime/Stone employee
Tommy A. Hildreth, 47, of 955 Petersburg Road, Sycamore, died early Sunday afternoon April 18, 1999, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, after suffering a heart attack Saturday morning in Bucyrus. His death was unexpected.
He was born April 10, 1952, in York Center, to the late Ovid and Ellen (Debolt) Hildreth.
Survivors include: his fiance, Brenda Boyd of Sycamore, her three children and six grandchildren; three sons, Shawn Hildreth of New Washington, Kenny and Tim Hildreth, both of Bucyrus; four grandchildren; four brothers, Franklin of Columbus, Robert of Richwood, Paul Michael of Brokensword and Johnny of Cleveland; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Thomas, Midge LeMaster and Mrs. Robert (Rosella) Jarvis, all of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Jack Hildreth.
Mr. Hildreth, who attended Buckeye Central, Pioneer and Marion Harding High Schools, had worked for the past 27 years at the National Lime and Stone Co.
He had lived most of his life in the Chatfield/Bucyrus areas and was a member of Bucyrus Moose Lodge 669 and the United Steel Workers of America Local 15050 District 27.
Captain John Nagel of the Salvation Army, will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus. Burial will be in Fairwell Retreat cemetery, Republic.
Visitation is today at the funeral home, where the family will be present 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Moose services are at 6:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Hersel F. Tracy

Hersel F. Tracy, 82, a resident of Autumnwood Care Center, formerly of North SR 53, died at 1 a.m. Monday April 19, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, where he had been a patient for several hours.
He was born Jan. 11, 1917, in Webster Springs, W.Va., to Noah and Rhoda (Hammonds) Tracy. His wife, Lola (Cogar) Tracy, whom he married
in Cattlesberg, Ky., is deceased.
Survivors include: two sons, Eugene F. Tracy of Carey and Bill L. Tracy of Fort Seneca; two daughters, Mrs. John (Marjorie) Ford of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Mrs. James (Edna) Swander of Savannah, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Tracy of Rising Sun; and a sister, Mrs. Tweed Keats of Maryland.
A sister, Mrs. Carl (Violet) Fisher, also is deceased.
Mr. Tracy, a resident of Tiffin for 40 years, had been employed at the Baltimore Shipyards and retired from the shipping department at Webster Mfg.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund or the Diabetes Association.
Gary Lee Schnipke

Gary Lee Schnipke, 45, of 2701 Fernwick Drive, South Boston, Va., died Saturday April 17, 1999, in Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. Visitation at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. He was married

Roman E. Wasserman
Father of Tiffin resident
Roman E. Wasserman, 83, of CR 41, Helena, died Monday morning, April 19, 1999, in the Toledo Hospital.
He was born in Ballville Township, Fremont, May 9, 1915, to Hugo and Mary (Miller) Wasserman. On May 30, 1940, in St. Joseph Church, Tiffin, he married
Margaret Tiell. She survives.
Other survivors include: six daughters, Helen Nieset of Elyria, Alice Reineck of Gibsonburg, Rose Boes of Upper Sandusky, Rita Nieset of Holland, Carolyn Breidenbach of Tiffin and Marilyn Dantuono of Findlay; four sons, Vincent and Thomas L. Wasserman, both of Helena, Dennis of Clyde and Stanley of Fremont; a brother, Zeno Wasserman of Burgoon; 37 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Brother Norbert Wasserman, CPPS, and Donald Wasserman; and a sister, Alma Miller.
Mr. Wasserman, a carpenter, also was a sexton of St. Mary's cemetery, Millersville for 25 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Millersville, its Holy Name Society and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed woodcutting.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Millersville. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation at the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg, is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. The Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. today and a Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church or the Sandusky County Food Pantry.
