Isabel McKinney
Fostoria resident's mother
Isabel McKinney, 94, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 1999, in the Plus Health Care Center, Allen County.
She was born May 7, 1904, in Allen County, to Alta Scott and Mae (Osmon) Faze. On June 7, 1928, she married
John D. McKinney Sr. He died Sept. 28, 1992.
Surviving are: five sons, John D. "Jack" McKinney Jr. of Lima, William D. McKinney of Elida, Robert D. McKinney of Fostoria, Rodney D. McKinney, also of Lima and Timothy L. McKinney of Columbus Grove; four daughters, Dorothy Janet Hesseling of Elida, Mrs. Kenneth (Jane) Parish of Findlay, Diana Jo Miller of Wapakoneta and Mrs. Philip (Donna Jean) Jones of Venedocia; 32 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were: a son, Thomas L. McKinney; two brothers, Floyd and William Paul Faze; and three sisters, Ruth Sumney, Agnes Nicol and Dorothy Ferry.
Mrs. McKinney, a homemaker, was a member of the First Baptist Church and VFW Auxiliary 1275.
She was a former member of the Grandmother's Club, a founding member of the Navy Mother's Club and a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary.
Services with the Rev. Kenneth Fey officiating, will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chiles and Sons-Laman Wayne Street Chapel, Lima. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Plus Health Care Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
Roy G. Smith
Union Carbide Corp. retiree
Roy G. Smith, 95, of Circle Drive, Fostoria, died in the Fostoria Community Hospital at 12:46 a.m. Monday, April 12, 1999.
He was born in Wallace, W.Va., Oct. 15, 1903, to John and Eunice (Morris) Smith. His wife, Virginia A. (Robinson) Smith, whom he married
Sept. 24, 1927, in Clarksburg, W.Va., died Sept. 5, 1993.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Betty) Reed of Vermillion and Mrs. Irvin (Alice) Butler of Amhurst; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Clovie, Forest, Guy, Dewey and William Smith; two sisters, Thresa Jones and Mary Schifler; and two grandchildren, also are deceased.
Mr. Smith had been employed for 40 years at the Union Carbide Corp. (now National Electrical Carbon Corp), Fostoria, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Fostoria.
The Rev. Russell F. Gumm will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donald O. Coughenour Sr.

Donald O. Coughenour Sr., 66, of 206 E. High St., Fostoria, died Monday morning April 12, 1999, at his residence. Arrangements are pending at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Martha Badger Gephart Meach
McCutchenville native
Martha Badger Gephart Meach, 91, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at her home in Holiday, Fla.
Born in McCutchenville, to Frank and Sylvia (Pennington) Badger, she married
Russell M. Gephart of Burgoon, June 4, 1927. He preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1960. She later married
Arnold Meach of Toledo, Feb. 17, 1967. He survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Marda Dewey of Plymouth, Ind., Jane Tucker of Granger, Ind. and Iona Valentine of Dunwoody, Ga.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A brother, Herman Badger; two sisters, Mary Yambert (who had resided in Tiffin) and Ruth Badger (who had resided in McCutchenville), are deceased.
Mrs. Meach, who moved from Toledo to Florida in 1971, with her husband, Arnold Meach, was a member of Community Congregational Church UCC, New Port Richey, Fla., where she was active in the Women's Fellowship and the bazaar committee.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, McCutchenville, joining in 1934 and was a past matron and grand representative to Missouri. Later she became a member of the Toledo Chapter 341 and held a life-time membership.
A memorial service will be Wednesday in the Community Congregational Church UCC. Interment will be in Meadowlawn Memory Gardens, New Port Richey.

Herbert E. 'Ace' Moyer

Herbert E. "Ace" Moyer, 72, of Sandusky Street, Fostoria, died at 11:24 p.m. Monday, April 12, 1999, in Medical College Hospital, Toledo.
He was born July 9, 1926, in Springfield, W.Va., to Phylix and Ollie (Iser) Moyer. He first married
Velma Wright and they were divorced. He later married
Annie Ruth Farrar, July 14, 1957, in Fostoria, and she survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: three sons, Michael, John and Richard Moyer, all of Fostoria; four daughters, Charlotte Snow-Frey of Fostoria, Pamela Sadler of Alvada, Connie Ratliff of LaGrange, Ind. and Vickie Moyer, also of Fostoria; four brothers, Gerald Moyer of Fostoria, Lester Moyer of Rockford, Mich., John Springberg of Cadillac, Mich. and Billy Davis of Hamilton; seven sisters, Patricia Allison and Merna Hensley, both of Lima, Virginia McCarley of Tulsa, Okla., Alta Pitt of Lake, Mich., Barb Baier of Wayne, W.Va., Betty Gerber of Sarasota, Fla. and Mary VanRyn of Kendalville, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A son, Herbert E. Moyer; a daughter, Ollie Mae Moyer; three brothers, Glenn, Phylix and Irvin Moyer; and a sister, Kathleen Dible, are deceased.
Mr. Moyer, a member of the Fostoria Eagles, retired in 1988 as owner/operator of Ace Trucking and Ace Painting and Glass Contractors.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating.

Eve Louise Holzworth
Centenarian/long-time Tiffin resident
Eve Louise (Brickner) Holzworth, 103, of Upper Sandusky, formerly of Tiffin, died Monday April 12, 1999, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
She was the widow of George D. Holzworth, who died in 1972.
Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Warren (June) Aiken of Upper Arlington and Cecelia Shaffer of Erie, Pa.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Edward A. and Louisa M. (Greenwald) Brickner; two brothers, Adam and Daniel Brickner; and a sister, Irene Stuckey, are deceased.
Mrs. Holzworth, a homemaker, also had been employed as a teacher.
She had attended Heidelberg College Normal School.
Private graveside services will be in Fairmont cemetery, Tiffin.
The Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, Columbus, is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas V. Hoover
Construction worker
Thomas V. Hoover, 45, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday April 12, 1999, at his home at 134 W. Perry St.
He was born in Tiffin, July 23, 1953, to Victor and Joan (Mergenthaler) Hoover. They survive in Tiffin.
Survivors also include: a sister, Charmyne Snyder of Tiffin; and his grandmother, Mildred Mergenthaler of Fostoria.
A brother, Allan L., is deceased.
Mr. Hoover, a 1972 Calvert High School graduate, worked for Marco's Pizza and Hoover's Building and Excavating.
A veteran of the National Guard, Fort Knox, Ky., he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rosary recited at 10:45 a.m. The Rev. James K. Say will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or to Mr. Hoover's family.
Donald O. Coughenour Sr.

Donald O. Coughenour Sr., 66, of 206 E. High St., Fostoria, died there Monday morning, April 12, 1999.
He was born Sept. 29, 1932, in Toledo, to the late Owen E. and Frances (Helmstetter) Coughenour. His wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Furillo) Coughenour, whom he married
May 16, 1953, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Hubbard, died March 29, 1994.
Survivors include: a son, Donald O. Coughenour Jr. of Findlay; two daughters, Mary K. Coughenour and Mrs. William (Debora) Podach, both of Fostoria; an adopted son, Robert Furillo of Youngstown; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Gates of Tucson, Ariz.; his fiance, Helen Pratt of Defiance; and his future family of four daughters and six grandchildren.
Two sisters, Catherine E. Powers and Barbara A. Waltermeyer, are deceased.
Mr. Coughenour worked for Seneca Wire in Fostoria, Republic Steel in Youngstown, New York Central Railroad, Ex-Cello Corp. in Fostoria as a foreman and retired in 1987 from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, after 24 years as a safety coordinator and personnel administrator.
He also worked as an independent painter 1987-90 and as a human resource and safety specialist for Cascade Kenhar, Findlay.
A 1950 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, he attended Bowling Green State University and was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria; a former member of Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree, Fostoria; and a former member of Exchange Club and St. Wendelin Home and School Association, where he served as president in 1966 and held many other school and church organizational positions and as an activity leader.
An avid Mohawk fan, he was a former member of the Fostoria Athletic Boosters, Junior Achievement, Boy Scout Troop 450, where he served as a Scout Master from 1960 to current United Way representative, and the Fostoria Footlighters and its board of directors.
Mr. Coughenour received the Distinguished Service Award of U.S. Jaycees in 1966 and the Outstanding Young Men of American Award in 1968. He was a member of the Human Resource Affiliates Group, where he chaired the Tall Timbers Industrial Park Scholarship Committee.
A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where the Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and at the funeral home one hour before the service on Thursday. A Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jeannette L. Pearson
Fremont homemaker
Jeannette L. Pearson, 82, died Tuesday, April 12, 1999, at her residence on Sandusky CR 223, Fremont.
She was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Ballville Township, Fremont, to Carl and Ella (Hofelich) Reed. On April 2, 1949, she married
L. Warren Pearson, who survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Roger W. and Steven L. Pearson, both of Fremont; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Sharon) Buehler, also of Fremont; five grandchildren; and four sisters, Marian Zilles, Mrs. Glenn (Marjorie) Potter and Ruth Harshe, all of Fremont, and Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Foster of Santa Marie, Calif.
Mrs. Pearson, a homemaker, attended Fremont Ross High School. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde.
The Rev. Gerry Gosnell will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery, Fremont.
Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

George W. Ginnever
Retired truck driver
George W. Ginnever, 83, of Burgoon, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday April 12, 1999, in the Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born in rural Clyde, April 4, 1916, to John and Eva (Zeiber) Ginnever. His wife, Rosanna B. (Zellner) Ginnever, whom he married
Oct. 28, 1939, survives.
Also surviving are: three sons, Ronald L. Ginnever of Fostoria, Edward N. Ginnever of Woodville, and Martin A. Ginnever of rural Fostoria; two daughters, Ann L. Watkins of rural Fostoria and Mrs. Randy (LaRetta) Rydman of Toledo; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, James F. Ginnever of Fremont; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Stickel of Vickery.
Two sons, Larry F. Ginnever in 1973 and Richard A. Ginnever in 1962; a brother, John Ginnever; and a sister, Mabel McNeal, are deceased.
Mr. Ginnever, a retired career truck driver, began his career in 1941 for L.T. Larsen Dairy. Before retiring at the age of 57, he had driven for McClory's Gas, Craun Transportation in Bettsville, Paul M. Gillmor in Old Fort, Detroit Pittsburgh Steel, H. James Fry in Old Fort and Matlack Corp, Woodville. He also worked at the Farm Bureau Elevator in Burgoon.
He joined the Teamsters Local 20 while driving for P.M. GIllmor. In the 32 years of driving, he was accident free.
After retiring, he remained active by driving school bus for Lakota Schools and helping local farmers. The last few years he enjoyed entering his refurbished 1951 International pickup in local parades and antique shows.
Services in the Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Martha Gross officiating. Burial will be in Smith cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home is 2-9 p.m. today.
