William J. 'Mickey' Aller
Tiffin Enterprise retiree
William "Mickey" J. Aller, 82, of 60 Northview Drive, died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 1999, at his home.
He was born July 9, 1916, to William F. and Ella (Bergman) Aller in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. On Aug. 2, 1943, he married
Elva L. Houpt in Liberal, Kan.
Survivors include: his wife, Elva; two sons, James F. Aller of Green Springs and Gary L. Aller of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Edna Sheely of Tiffin; grandchildren, Janell Schwab of Shelby, John Aller and Shellie Dull, both of Tiffin, and a great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Mr. Aller, a 1934 graduate of Columbian High School, was an Army Air Corps veteran (World War II) and a retired office manager for Tiffin Enterprise. He was a member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge and the Tiffin Eagles.
The Rev. Jan Kucera will officiate the 1:30 p.m. service at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home Monday. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or Donor's Choice.
Viola E. Betts
Clinton Avenue homemaker
Viola E. Betts, 87, 273 Clinton Ave., died at 6 p.m. Saturday April 10, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, where she had been a patient since April 4.
She was born in Crookston, Minn., Sept. 12, 1911, to Otto and Christine (Selberg) Kilen. On June 14, 1937, in the Little Brown Church in The Vale, Nashua, Iowa, she married
Edward Betts. He preceded her in death April 1, 1984.
Surviving are a son, Larry Betts of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Jean) Hoffbauer and Mrs. William (Gail) Sherwood, both of Fostoria; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Joann Work, who died in 1972; a grandchild, three brothers, Albin, Kensel and Edwin Kilen; and two sisters, Myrtle Erickson and Leona Feasel.
A homemaker, Mrs. Betts had been a resident of the Tiffin area since 1937.
The Rev. Dr. Arthur M. Geyh will be the officiant at the 10:30 a.m. Tuesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home is 6-9 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Richard W. Factor
Upper Sandusky resident
Richard W. Factor, 64, died at 12 a.m. Sunday April 11, 1999, at his home at 300 Highland Parkway 9B, Upper Sandusky.
He was born May 3, 1934, in Seneca County, to the late William R. and Helena (Myers) Factor. His wife, Ethel J. (Luman) Factor, whom he married
June 3, 1956, in Tiffin, survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Kathy) Kimmel of Upper Sandusky and Jaimie L. Factor of Bucyrus; two sons, Charles E. and Steven Scot Factor, both of Melmore; a brother, Carl E. Factor of Tiffin; and four grandchildren.
Two brothers, Harold and William Jr., are deceased.
Mr. Factor, a graduate of Melmore High School, retired from Tiffin Enterprise after 22 years of employment.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m.today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio, Wyandot Memorial Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
Laura E. Dunn
Homemaker/former beauty shop owner
Laura E. Dunn, 84, of 756 W. Findlay St., Carey, died at her home at 9:35 p.m. Friday, April 9, 1999.
She was born in Carey, May 29, 1914, to Harry Blain and Cora Ann (Snyder) Keller. On Nov. 24, 1938, she married
George Ernest Dunn, who died Oct. 11, 1991.
Survivors include: four children, Ronald Dunn of rural Carey, Diana Abraham of Loveland, Colo., Dawn Clark of Santa Clara, Calif. and Donna Dunn Fletcher-Crooke of Roswell, Ga.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Bernice) Thome of Carey and Martha Jane Krout of Naples, Fla.; and two brothers, Ezzra Keller of Plantation, Fla. and Donald Keller of Upper Sandusky.
Mrs. Dunn, a homemaker, was the former owner of The Modern Beauty Shop of Carey.
A former member of Eastern Star of Carey, she was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey and its Mary Martha Sunday School Class.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Beach Funeral Home of Carey, with the Rev. Paul DeMoss officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.
Visitation at the funeral home will be one hour before the memorial service on Wednesday. The body has been cremated.
Memorials may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Kitchen Remodeling Fund.
Barbara J. Reinhard
Floral artist/designer
Barbara J. Reinhard, 65, of North Vine Street, Fostoria, died in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, at 12:40 p.m. Saturday April 10, 1999.
She was born in Fostoria, April 5, 1934, to the late Aaron and Maude Ivy Barnes. Her husband, Roger D. Reinhard, whom she married
Sept. 12, 1952, in Fostoria, survives in Fostoria.
Survivors also include: three daughters, Jody Lynn Fetro, Mrs. Brian (Jill Shannon) Brickner and Jina LeAnn Reinhard, all of Fostoria; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Jeffrey Aaron Reinhard and a brother, Lawrence Paul McCarthy.
Mrs. Reinhard, a 1952 graduate of Fostoria High School, had been employed as a floral artist and designer at Flowerland in Fostoria.
She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria, where she had been very active in the church choir, as a soloist, a trustee and in many other positions in the church.
The Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite will be the officiant at the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in the High Street United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the High Street United Methodist Church Elevator Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
Walter M. Downing
Retired farmer
Walter M. Downing, 83, of South Collinwood Blvd., Fremont, died Saturday, April 10,1999, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
He was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Michigan, to Edwin and Nellie (White) Downing.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Sharon) Patton and Mrs. James (Mary Lou) Miller, both of Clyde; two sons, Dean Downing of Clyde and Dave Downing of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Alverna Wolfe of Bellevue; and a brother, Arthur Downing of Green Springs.
Four brothers, Robert, Raymond, Kenneth and Charles Downing; and a sister, Ethel Miller, also are deceased.
Mr. Downing, a 1933 Townsend High School graduate, was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Clyde Moose and Fremont Eagles.
He had lived most of his life in Townsend Township before moving to Fremont in his later years.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. Gerry Gosnell officiating. Interment will be in Parkhurst cemetery, rural Clyde.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Renovation Fund, Forest Street, Clyde.
John L. 'Rabbit' Starrett
Former Tiffin resident
Word has been received of the death of John L. "Rabbit" Starrett, 95, of Largo, Fla., who died Wednesday March 17, 1999, in Clearwater Center Nursing Home.
He was born in Iroquois City, S.D., and came to the Largo area in 1968 from Cleveland.
Surviving are a sister, Clara O. Bauer of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Ruby, is deceased.
Mr Starrett had been employed as an assistant athletic director at Kent State University and was an American Red Cross field director in the European Theater during World War II.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ-Scientist, Seminole, Fla. and the Masonic Lodge in Tiffin.
The National Cremation Society, Largo, was in charge of arrangements.
Katharine I. Lewis
Former Tiffin resident
Katharine I. Lewis, 78, of Cincinnati, formerly of Coshocton and Tiffin, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
She was born in Gary, Ind., Nov. 8,1920. Her husband, The Rev. Dr. Benjamin Lewis, is deceased.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Clark (Miriam) Van Scyoc of Cincinnati; a son, Paul D. Lewis of Bellevue; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Katharine and Rebecca Irene Lewis.
A minister's wife, Mrs. Lewis was a former school school principal.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Cherry Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Sanders officiating. Interment will be in Forest cemetery, Mansfield.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the church or the Lions Club.
The T.P. White and Sons Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is in charge of arrangements.
Esther L. Kuenzli
Upper Sandusky homemaker
Esther L. Kuenzli, 88, of 365 W. Johnson St., Upper Sandusky, died at 9 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999, in the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
She was born July 7, 1910, in Upper Sandusky, to Edward and A. Matilda (Wagner) Lambrite. On Nov. 4, 1934, in Upper Sandusky, she married
Galen B. Kuenzli, who preceded her in death July 20, 1979.
Survivors include: a son, Edward F. Kuenzli of Upper Sandusky; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Charles Lambrite and a daughter, Joyce Moran.
Mrs. Kuenzli, a homemaker, also had been employed as a bookkeeper and cashier for several local businesses.
She had attended Trinity Evangelical Methodist Church, John Steward United Methodist Church and Trinity United Church of Christ.
A former 4-H assistant advisor, she collected glass shoes and enjoyed crocheting afghans.
The Rev. Charles Steward will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to Wyandot Memorial Hospital or its cornary unit.
Ferne A. Wolfe
Homemaker/former teacher
Ferne A. Wolfe, 92, a resident of the Wyandot County Home for the past three years, formerly of 5156 CR 62, Upper Sandusky, died in Wyandot Memorial Hospital at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999.
She was born in Wyandot County, Aug. 30, 1906, the daughter of Ira M. and Blanche Elnora (Bardon) Swihart. Her husband, Theodore W. Wolfe, whom she married
June 5, 1927, in Upper Sandusky, died April 16, 1975.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elnora Umbaugh of Marion and Mrs. David (Shirley) Herring of Harpster; a son, Kenneth W. Wolfe of Upper Sandusky; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A granddaughter and a brother, Hershel Swihart, are deceased.
Mrs. Wolfe, a homemaker, graduated from Upper Sandusky High School and Bowling Green Normal School, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught grades 1-8 for two years in a one room school house.
She was a lifetime member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and superintendent and member of the church's Women's Guild. She also was a member of Wyandot County Senior Citizens, the Wyan-dote Camping Club and the Wyandot County Farm Bureau.
Services in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
