Agnes (Lonsway) Buxton
Seneca Township native

Word has been received of the death of Agnes (Lonsway) Buxton of Oklahoma City, Okla., former area resident, who died Sunday April 4, 1999, in St. Ann's Nursing Home.

She was born in Seneca Township, Oct. 3, 1912, to Herve and Aleta (Hummer) Lonsway. Her husband, Glennon Buxton, whom she married Oct. 26, 1946, in St. Boniface Church, New Riegel, survives.

Other survivors include: a sister, Mary Grillot of Tiffin, and a brother, Charles Lonsway of New Riegel.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, Henry who died in infancy, Herman "Duke" and Homer Lonsway.

The Smith-Kernke Funeral Home, 1401 N.W. 23rd St., Oklahoma City, is in charge of arrangements. The tentative time of the funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church is 11 a.m. Wednesday, with burial in the parish cemetery.

Kenneth N. Tank Sr.
Father of Tiffin resident

Kenneth N. Tank Sr., 74, of Woodville, died Monday, April 5, 1999, in Edward and Marion Knight Hospice Center, Perrysburg., following a brief illness.

He was born May 12, 1924, in Bono, Ohio, to Elmer and Burnes (Gregersen) Tank. On Feb. 23, 1944, he married Dorothy Jouette. She survives.

Survivors also include: children, Kenneth N. Tank Jr. of Tiffin, Richard B. Tank of Temperance, Mich., Mrs. Robert (Patricia A.) Hazlewood of Coppell, Texas, and Sandra R. Tank of Temperance; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild; brothers, Robert Tank of Graytown, Ohio, and Herb Tank of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Betty) Dunham of Elmore.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Glen Tank.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific with the Americal Division in the Philippines and the occupation of Japan, Mr. Tank was employed as an independent general insurance agent for 49 years.

He was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville, the DAV and Woodville American Legion Post 455, of which he was a life member. He also was a lifelong member of the Maccabees International Fraternal Society and attended many fraternal meetings of Unit 616. In 1950 he was appointed as regional supervisor working with all units in Northwest Ohio. In later years he was elected to the office of Supreme Commander. Along with the assistance of the board of directors, many projects were completed to enhance the work of the society; most recently completing a scholarship program for the members' descendants.

He also was a 32-year member of the East Toledo Oregon Kiwanis Club, having perfect attendance for the entire time. Offices held included past president and past lieutenant governor of Division I North. He was honored by his club with many awards, most recently the George F. Hixon Award.

He had worked as an ombudsman in the emergency room at St. Charles Hospital for 25 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville, with interment to follow in Westwood cemetery.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, Woodville, with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of NW Ohio or the church.

Nella C. VanSant
Fostoria homemaker

Nella C. VanSant, 83, of Walnut Street, Fostoria, died at her daughter's home in Fostoria at 12:05 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999.

She was born in Bloomdale July 10, 1915, to Frank and Lois (Decker) Mellott. On June 5, 1937, in Bloomdale, she married Lester A. VanSant. He died Oct. 10, 1993.

Survivors include: two daughters, Nancy Gregg of Camarillo, Calif., and Sue Gillig of Fostoria; a brother, Ray Mellott of Findlay; four sisters, Mrs. Mark (Gladys) Wasson, Mrs. Wilbur (Lucille) Babcock and Hazel Easley, all of Bloomdale, and

Ruth Noel of Arcadia; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Merrill, Harold and Herbert Mellott, and a grandchild, Rachael Mae Gregg, also are deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. VanSant was a 1932 graduate of Arcadia High School.

She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Fostoria, and its Westminster Circle of Kings Daughters, Pathfinders Sunday school class, Breans Group, United Methodist Women and Shepherd Center. She was named the United Methodist Women of the Year in 1997.

She also was a member of Fostoria Chapter 94, Order of Eastern Star, Fostoria Historical Society and the Fostoria Glass Association.

The Rev. Jeffrey L. Waite will officiate at the 1:30 p.m. Wednesday service in the High Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the High Street United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.

Harold J. Goshe
Lifelong Seneca County farmer

Harold J. Goshe, 65, of 10068 W. CR 592, Fostoria, died at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born March 6, 1934, in Fostoria, to the late Henry T. and Germaine (Kieffer) Goshe.

Survivors include: his former wife, Penny Shane of Fostoria; a son, Patrick J. Goshe of Fostoria; a daughter, Kisha K. McCabe, also of Fostoria; and two granddaughters. His first wife, Elizabeth (Frisch) Goshe and a son, Thomas Goshe, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Goshe, a retired lifelong Seneca County farmer, also worked at Union Carbide and the Fostoria Foundry.

A 1952 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, Fostoria, he was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, Moose Lodge 1567, American Legion Post 73, AMVETS Post 69, Fostoria United Sportsman Club and Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree member of Council 1197, all of Fostoria. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, with the rosary recited at 10. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Thelma Clingaman
Retired registered nurse

Thelma Clingaman, 86, formerly of Vine Street, Clyde, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, in Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont.

She was born May 7, 1912, in Clyde to Floyd R. and Zuie (Sampsel) Stokes. Her stepmother, Doris Stotler Stokes, also is deceased. Her husband, Donald J. Clingaman, whom she married Aug. 19, 1934, died Nov. 25, 1985.

Surviving are: two half brothers, Robert F. Stokes of Clyde and Stanley L. Stokes of Ashville, N.C., and a half sister, Connie Gilbert of Clyde.

A brother, Clarence Stokes, and an infant half brother, Larry K. Stokes, also are deceased.

Mrs. Clingaman, a 1929 graduate of Clyde High School and a graduate of Providence School of Nursing, was employed as a registered nurse at Fremont Memorial Hospital in obstetrics for seven years and retired from Whirlpool as its RN.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde, and VFW Auxiliary, Clyde Chapter.

Graveside services in McPherson cemetery, Clyde, are 11 a.m. today, with the Rev. John Bailey officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Maple and Race Street, Clyde, OH 43410.

Iva Minneta Whitman
AlliedSignal retiree

Iva Minneta Whitman, 86, 24 Westwood Court, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in St. Catherine's of Tiffin. Arrangements are pending at the Mann Hare Funeral Home., Fostoria.

Bernice Snyder
Retired teacher

Bernice Snyder, 90, of 10001 N. Byrne Road, Toledo, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, in Flower Memorial Hospital, Sylvania.

She was born in Holgate, Oct. 17, 1908, to Elbert F. and Stella (Roddy) Snyder. She never married .

A sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Inez) Pingle of Fostoria, survives.

A brother, Lloyd Snyder, and a sister, Ethel Snyder, are deceased.

Miss Snyder, who received her education at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, attended other universities on scholarships during the summer. She was employed as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher in the Toledo Public Schools for 39 years, retiring in January 1968.

An avid traveler, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fostoria, Order of Eastern Star, Toledo, where she was a 50-year member and the Retired Teacher's Association, where she was a life member.

The Rev. R. Edson Reed will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Friday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be noon-2 p.m. Friday.

There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. Sunday in Westmoor Apartments, 10001 N. Byrne, Toledo.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Perry and West Fremont Street, Fostoria, Ohio 44830.

Mary M. Frederick
Mother of Tiffin resident

Mary M. Frederick, 92, of Tiffin, formerly of Bellevue and Tucson, Ariz., died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in the Elmwood Nursing Home, Green Springs.

She was born Oct. 19, 1906, in West Lodi, to Mr. and Mrs. John (Ada Fauble) Cramer. Her husband, Dearl Frederick, died in 1975.

Survivors include: a daughter, Jane A. Frederick of Tiffin; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

A son, John E. Frederick; two brothers, Russell and William Cramer; and a sister, Charlotte Fawcett, also are deceased.

A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Clyde, she was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue.

She also was active in the Gold Star Mothers of Sons in World War II and enjoyed quilting, gardening and sewing.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, with Pastor Gerhardt Gosnell officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Patsy Slayton
Washington Street resident

Patsy Slayton, 63, 248 S. Washington St., died at 8:09 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. Arrangements are pending at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Theodore Julian Robbins
Retired truck driver

Theodore Julian Robbins, 85, formerly of Clyde and Akron, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, in the Arbors of Clyde.

He was born in Clyde, May 18, 1913, to Charles D. and Alice Marie (Stierham) Robbins. On May 18, 1939, he married Ruth Mason, who died July 6, 1987.

Survivors include: a son, Douglas T. Robbins of Akron; two daughters, Mrs. Howard B. (Joan) McDonald of Fremont and Mrs. Gerald (Janice) Fought of Gibsonburg; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Robbins of Sandusky; and a sister, Mrs. James (Patricia Ann) Crabtree of Ashville, N.C.

A sister, Virginia Howard, and a brother, Richard Robbins, also are deceased.

Mr. Ribbons, a 1931 graduate of Clyde High School, had been employed as a truck driver for Allegheny Leasing Corp., Hertz Penske, Red Star Transit and Jones Motor, retiring in 1993.

He attended the Presbyterian Church and was a member of Monticello Lodge 344, Clyde.

Mr. Robbins lived his early life in Clyde before moving to Akron in 1964.

The Rev. Alex McClean will preside at the 11 a.m. Friday service in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
