Helen M. Bean
Former music store owner
Helen M. Bean, 87, of 136 Hamden Park, Tiffin, Ohio, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, March 5, 1999, in Mercy Hosital.
She was born April 17, 1911, in Melmore, Ohio, to the late Loyd E. and Nellie (Seitz) Mesnard. On Sept. 15, 1945, in Melmore Church, she married
Arthur E. Bean, who survives.
She also is survived by granddaughters Elisabeth Fluharty of Plainsboro, N.J. and Sara Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Preceding her in death were: a daughter, Sylvia Smith; two brothers, Paul and Don Mesnard; and three sisters, Frances Harter, Betty Shannon and Lou Wood.
Mrs. Bean graduated from Melmore High School, Bowling Green and Ohio StateUniversity. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Eden Township and also taught at Republic, Tiffin, and Columbus, earning a lifetime teaching certificate. For 30 years, she was co-owner with her husband of Arthur Bean Music Store in Tiffin. She was inducted into the Heidelberg College Heritage Hall of Fame.
An active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mrs. Bean served on many boards, committees, and areas of the church, being a member of the church Council at the time of her death. She taught Sunday school over 50 years, and a Sunday School classroom at St. Paul's is named the "Helen Bean Room." She also was a member of the Kum Double Class, St. Paul's Daughters, and served as secretary for the Senior Fellowship Class of the church. An original member of the Sharing Kitchen Board, she belonged to the Tiffin Woman's Club and the Soroptomist Club of Tiffin.
The funeral is Monday at 3 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Gail Angel officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville.
Vistiation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul UM Church or Mercy Hospital.
Nancilee Crawford

Nancilee Crawford, 61, of East Lytle Street, Fostoria, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 1999, in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born in Fostoria, June 29, 1937, the daughter of the late William D. and Gertrude A. (Johnson) Sherick. On Oct. 10, 1959, in Fostoria, she married
Jack L. Crawford, who survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a son, W. Todd Crawford of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Tammy L.) Clark and Malanie L. Crawford, both of Fostoria; a step-son, Ricky L. Crawford of Lebanon, Ohio; two brothers, George D. and William B. Sherick, both of Helena; two sisters, Mrs. Duane (Laura J.) Jurrus of Fostoria and Mrs. Dale (Barbara A.) Yoder of Kansas, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Crawford, a 1956 graduate of Jackson-Liberty High School, had been employed for 25 years at RCA and Harris Corp, Findlay, working there until 1988. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God, Fostoria.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Rev. Donald R. Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation at the funeral home is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
John C. Spino
Brother of Tiffin residents
John C. Spino, 69, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at his residence in Oak Harbor.
He was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Tiffin, to the late Pasquale and Carmella (Plumbo) Spino. His wife of 49 years, Anna Lou (Bour) Spino, whom he married
Jan. 13, 1951, survives.
Survivors also include: a son, John C. Spino Jr. of Oak Harbor; two brothers, Tony Spino of Sandusky and Joseph Spino of Chapel Hill, Tenn.; three sisters, Philomena Herrig and Lucille Tieman, both of Tiffin and Mary Rose McGrady of Toledo; a brother, Hugo Bour, also of Tiffin; two grandchildren; and a nephew.
Also preceding him in death were: a son, Charles; three brothers, Leo John, Sam Patrick and Carmen John Spino; and two sisters, Mary Salpietro and Philomena Spino.
Mr. Spino, a U.S. Air Force veteran, retired in 1990, from the personnel department at Brush-Wellman, Elmore.
Along with his wife, Mr. Spino also was the owner/agent of Batdorff Real Estate Co., Oak Harbor for more than 30 years.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, where he sang in the church choir, served as a church lector commentator coordinator for 25 years; served as a a CCD teacher and as a lector.
He also served on the St. Boniface School Board and was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge 1610, Port Clinton; Port Clinton Power Squadron, Firelands Association of Realtors, the former Ottawa County Association of Realtors, State of Ohio Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Union cemetery, Oak Harbor, where John A. Fader American Legion Post 114, Oak Harbor, will conduct military graveside services.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor, where the family will be present today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. The Knights of Columbus will have services at 7 and 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church Endowment Fund or the Ottawa County Humane Society.

Duane L. 'Dewey' Myers
Truck driver/insurance agent
Duane L. "Dewey" Myers, 54, of 309 CH 37, Sycamore, died at 7:07 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.
He was born in Bucyrus, March 15, 1944, the son of the late Ernest L. and Edith (Gurney) Myers.
Survivors include: a son, William L. Myers of Delaware, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Scott (Laura) Kagy of Bloomville and Miss Jennifer Myers of Bowling Green; and his companion of 11 years, Bonnie Cook.
Mr. Myers, who was raised most of his life in the Attica and surrounding area, worked for Seneca Trucking in Tiffin and Morgan Driveaway as an independent truck driver. He also was employed as an independent insurance agent for 17 years with MONY.
A member of the Catholic Faith, he was a life member of both VFW Post 2058 and AMVETS 48, both of Tiffin; and a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge 846 and Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
He served two tours of duty during the Vietnam Era in the specialized branch of the Navy called Sea-Bees.
A 1962 graduate of Attica High School, he also graduated from Barberton Technical College in 1965 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
The Rev. Frank Murd will be the celebrant at the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veteran's Council, Tiffin.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
Rodney L. Hook Sr.

Rodney L. Hook Sr., 33, of 425 S. Town St., Fostoria, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born in Fostoria, Nov. 5, 1965, to Donald R. Sr. and Barbara (Mallott) Hook, who survive in Fostoria.
Also surviving are a son, Rodney L. Hook Jr.; a daughter, Tiffany N. Hook; his paternal grandmother, Stella Hook; three brothers, Keith A., Donald R. Jr. and David C. Hook; and a sister, Donna S. Hook, all of Fostoria.
A 1984 graduate of Fostoria High School, Mr. Hook was employed as a laborer at Essex Wire and Cable in Tiffin for 2 1/2 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 10 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Catherine A. Byers

Catherine A. Byers, 87, of 825 June St., Fremont, died at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999, in the Fremont Care Center.
Born May 26, 1911, in Seneca County, to Herbert P. and Jennie D. (Wolf) Stuckey, she married
Charles W. Byers May 26, 1932, in Tiffin. He died in July 1971.
Surviving are a son, Duane H. Byers of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Donna J.) Eidenour of Burgoon and Mrs. Gene (Leann P.) Norman of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters, also are deceased.
Mrs. Byers, a homemaker, was a former member of Rebecca Lodge, Rising Sun and the Jackson Liberty Grange. She was a graduate of Bettsville High School.
The Rev. Roberta Hart will conduct the 1 p.m. Thursday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Richard Carmichael Norris

Richard Carmichael Norris, 54, of 1521 N. Countyline St. No. 84, died in the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, at 8:06 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999.
He was born Sept. 3, 1944, in Fostoria, to Robert P. and Eula B. (Sheets) Norris. His mother survives in Fostoria. His wife, Rose M. (Norman) Sloan-Norris, whom he married
May 11, 1991, in Clyde, also survives in Fostoria.
Other survivors include: a step-son, Matthew R. Sloan of Whitehouse; a daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Rochelle) Rose of Plainfield, Ill.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Robbin) Ewald of Tiffin, Mrs. Steve (Kandy) Stone of Vanlue, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Risner and Mrs. Steve (Kelly) Brickner, both of Bascom; three brothers, Peter S. Norris of Tiffin and Thomas H. and Joseph F. Norris, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Doris Ann Norris of Fostoria and Mary Susan Norris of Phoenix; two grandchildren and 20 step-grandchildren.
His father is deceased.
Mr. Norris, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era, retired in 1994 as a set-up man from Excello (now Airfoil Textron), formerly of Fostoria, where he had been employed for 28 years.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose and AMVETS, where he was a life member, all of Fostoria and the Eagles, Tiffin.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Daniel Ring officiating.
A Memorial Mass will be 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Mr. Norris donated his body to the Medical College of Ohio Hospital.
There will be no visitation. The Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Thorlo W. 'T.W.' Oller

Thorlo W. "T.W." Oller, 96, of 245 E. Hess St., Bushnell, Ill., died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 1999, in Prairie City Nursing Center, Prairie City, Ill.
He was born Nov. 19, 1902, in Bloomdale, to Charles and Ida M. (Sheidler) Oller. His first wife, Flossie M. (Clarke) Oller, preceded him in death in 1962. He later married
Irene D. (Haffner) Brewer, Jan. 9, 1964, in Macomb, Ill. She survives.
Survivors also include: two sons, Robert W. Oller of Huron and James C. Oller of Millersburg; three step-sons, Keith Brewer of Bushnell, Lyndall Brewer of Marietta, Ill. and Marvin Brewer of Galesburg, Ill.; a daughter, Patricia Sharinghouse of Findlay; two step-daughters, Alma Brooks of Bushnell and Ramona Howard of Marietta, Ill.; six grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several step-great and great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were three sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Oller worked at the American Standard in Tiffin for 34 years, before moving to Bushnell.
Services are 10 a.m. today in the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell, with the Rev. Terry Broady officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Memory Gardens, Macomb.
Visitation is one hour prior to the time of service today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Prairie City Nursing Center or the Bushnell Rescue Squad.
Eva L. Hawkins

Eva L. Hawkins, 76, of 134 N. 4th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 1:13 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999, in the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
She was born in Upper Sandusky, May 14, 1922, to Earl F. and Iva D. (Myers) Welker. On Oct. 20, 1946, in Marion, she married
John Hawkins, who died Jan. 4, 1987.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Downing and a brother, Frederick Welker.
Mrs. Hawkins, a homemaker and former clerk at Neumeister Bakery, Upper Sandusky, was a 1940 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School.
A member of the Lutheran Faith, she was a former member of the Ladies of the Moose.
The Rev. Charles Steward will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
Visitation at the funeral home is 6-8 p.m. today.

Blanche E. Roszman

Former Carey resident, Blanche E. Roszman, 96, of 376 W. Spring St., Upper Sandusky, where she had resided since 1980, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 1999, in the Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Aug. 17, 1902, in Wyandot County, the daughter of William E. and Clara I. (Robison) Walter. Her husband, Albert L. Roszman, whom she married
Nov. 16, 1921, in Carey, died June 16, 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Fox and Mrs. Robert (Clara) Nachbar, both of Upper Sandusky; three sons, Adam, Walter and Howard Roszman, all of Upper Sandusky; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, two foster grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were six brothers, William, Park, Chester, David and Austin Walter and an infant; three sisters, Cora Lee, Jenny Thomas and Ida Ogg; and three sons, Don, Roy and Charles Roszman. She was the last of her family.
A homemaker, Mrs. Roszman was an 80-year member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Carey.
Services in the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Cynthia Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.
Visitation at the funeral home is 6-9 p.m. today.
