Miriam E. Haas
Retired registered nurse
Miriam E. Haas, 91, of Fostoria, formerly of Woodville, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria, where she had been a resident the past five years.
She was born June 17, 1907, on Kelly's Island, to Frank and Ida (Smith) Reinheimer. On June 26, 1938, on Kelly's Island, she married
Glen M. Haas, who preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Allan (Mary Ruth) Crandall of Fostoria; a son, John G. (Sue Ellyn) Haas of Canton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Towle of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Jeanne Schlesselman of Sandusky.
A brother, John Reinheimer, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Haas, a registered nurse, worked as a company nurse for Brush Wellman in Elmore during the 1950s-60s. Prior to her marriage she was employed as a school nurse in the Cleveland Public School System.
She was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville, Woodville Book Guild, the Woodville Garden Club, Woodville Historical Society, Women's Relief Corps and the Order of Eastern Star Elmore Chapter (now Perrysburg), where she served as past worthy matron.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Solomon Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Westwood cemetery at a later date.
Visitation at the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, Woodville, is 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to the church organ fund or the Good Shepherd Nursing Home for landscaping improvements.

James Palmer Madden, 71, of West State St., Fremont, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Fremont Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are pending at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Jeannette P. Perri
Retired waitress/mixologist
Jeannette P. Perri, 82, of 220 W. Johnson St., Upper Sandusky, died at 9:03 p.m. Monday, March 1, 1999, in Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Dec. 13, 1916, in Upper Sandusky, to Joseph and Constanza (Mauro) Perri. She had never married
.
Surviving are three nephews and two nieces; many grand nieces and nephews; a brother, Napoleon Perri of Marion; and two sisters, Rachel McKelvey of Findlay and Mary Lou Perri of Upper Sandusky.
Two brothers, John and Joseph; and two sisters, Helena Siebanoller and Virginia Perri, are deceased.
Miss Perri, a former employee at the former Evergreen Restaurant in Upper Sandusky, retired in 1987, after 28 years as a waitress and mixologist for the Brown House Restaurant, Marion.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She also volunteered at the Christian Thrift Shop in Upper Sandusky and helped with fundraising for M/S and the American Cancer Society.
A performer in several Marion area theatre productions, she also enjoyed painting, collecting clowns, flower gardening and sunbathing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Holmer as celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, where a Biblical Scripture service will be at 8:45 p.m., followed by CLC memorial services.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Endowment Fund.
Janis G. Marks
OBES customer supervisor
Janis G. Marks, 53, 4151 N. TR 1098, died at 10:01 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, where she had been a patient for a day.
She was born in Baton Rouge, La., Sept. 14, 1945, to the late Arthur W. and Tulah I. (Parker) Loescher. On Feb. 24, 1963, she married
Thomas E. Marks, who survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Randall and Daniel Marks, both of Tiffin; four grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Loescher of Amelia and Mark Loescher of Galion; and a sister, Martha Loescher of Columbus.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Donna O'Neil.
A 1962 graduate of Columbian High School, Mrs. Marks was employed as a customer supervisor with the Ohio Bureau of Employment Service, where she had worked for more than 25 years. She also attended Stautzenberger College.
An avid gardener, especially flowers, she was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was an adult Sunday School teacher; the Ohio Historical Society, the Genealogy Society, Master Gardner State of Ohio and Friends of the Library.
A resident of Tiffin since 1947, she also collected glassware and miniature doll houses.
The Rev. James Mussman will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Saturday service in Shiloh United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the church and Master Gardner.
B. Ray Anspach
Brother of Tiffin resident
B. Ray Anspach, 93, formerly of 217 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Fremont, died Wednesday morning, March 3, 1999, in the Arbors of Delaware, Delaware, Ohio.
He was born in Ballville Township, July 27, 1905, to Benjamin and Emma (Baumann) Anspach. His wife, Gladys (Hintz) Anspach, whom he married
Oct. 29, 1932, in Fremont, preceded him in death Nov. 25, 1991.
Surviving are: three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Anspach of Tiffin and Luther Anspach of Cincinnati; and two sisters, Alice Bonnett of Fremont and Fanny Klenk of Gaylord, Minn.
Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Janice Baker; two brothers, Lee and Walter Anspach; and two sisters, Lucy and Grace Anspach.
Mr. Anspach was employed as a Western Union manager 1921-67 and served as a Fremont City Council member Third Ward 1950-56 and as president of council 1956-58.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was a former member of the church council and served as financial secretary; Brainard Masonic Lodge and the Kiwanis Club since 1934, where he served as president in 1952.
Services in the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the church.
James Palmer Madden
Former Atlas Crankshaft employee
James Palmer Madden, 71, of 600 W. State St., Fremont, died in Memorial Hospital, Fremont, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 1999.
He was born in Fostoria, Nov. 24, 1927, the son of Joseph Anthony and Rose (Ludwig) Madden. His former wife, Janice (Somers) Haynes, survives.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Dennis J. (Kathy) Smith of Fostoria; a granddaughter; a brother, Byron J. Madden of Clyde; and three sisters, Teresa Rearick of Fremont, Mrs. Richard (Mary Ellen) Shively of Findlay and Lorraine Rozkrut of Toledo.
Two brothers, Joseph A. Jr. and Donald L. Madden and a sister, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Cardwell, are deceased.
Mr. Madden, a 1946 Fostoria High School graduate, worked in the construction industry and at Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, where he had been a tool and die apprentice.
A World War II U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, he served as an air control tower operator.
He was a member of Fremont VFW Post 2947.
Visitation at the Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, is 6-8:30 p.m. today, where services will follow the visitation at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Nellie Alma Cook

Nellie Alma Cook, 80, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at her home at 315 N. Buckeye, Bellevue.
Born in Haleyville, Ala., May 26, 1918, to Henry Fred and Rhoda Clementine (Wilson) Canida, she first married
Harvey K. Bailey, who is deceased. She later married
Clarence Cook in 1962 and he preceded her in death in 1988.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Sandra K.) Baum of Bellevue; four step-sons, Harlen Wayne Bailey of Sandusky, Richard E. and Larry A. Cook, both of Tiffin and Kenneth L. Cook of Green Springs; four step-daughters, Linda L. Ferguson of Clyde, Patricia A. Carter of Green Springs, Mrs. Cletus (Nancy J.) Combs, also of Tiffin and Mrs. James (Barbara J.) Thomas of Fostoria; four grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Salter of Haleyville, Ala. and Flora A. Canida of Bellevue; and many other relatives.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Emett J. "Boe" and Leonard Canida and two sisters, Nancy I. Weaver and Maude L. Salter.
Mrs. Cook, who came to Bellevue in 1951, retired Dec. 1, 1979, from the General Electric in Bellevue, after 28 years of service.
She was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church and was a very active volunteer of "Just Tell," helping children and families. She also enjoyed bingo and church and club activities.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Providence Baptist Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Bellevue and at the church after 10 a.m. Saturday. Bellevue Moose services will be 7 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the church or "Just Tell."
Paul W. Brecheisen

Paul W. Brecheisen, 73, of CR. 41, Helena, died in the Fremont Center Genesis Eldercare Network, Fremont, Wednesday, March 3, 1999. He was born March 25, 1925 to Clem and Cora Mabel (Strohman) Brecheisen near Helena, Ohio. On June 8, 1946 he married
Daisy Callihan, and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, John Paul Brecheisen of Hessville, OH., and William Wendell Brecheisen of Findlay; a daughter, Myrth Evelyn Reiland of Ashland, MA.; a sister, Evelyn Parker of Helena; seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Mr. Brecheisen graduated from Jackson Burgoon High School in 1943, was a life long farmer. Worked for Allied Signal in Fostoria until his retirement in 1988, a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg, SCRAP (Sandusky County Restorers of Antique Equipment), Silver King of Yesteryears Club and was a collector of tractors and tools.
Funeral services will be in the Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg, on Saturday at 11 a.m., where the body will lie in state one hour before the service.
Visitation hours at the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, Gibsonburg on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and tonight from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Rogard E. Westenbarger
Fostoria resident
Rogard E. Westenbarger, 79, of 438 E. Tiffin St., Fostoria, died at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 1999. He was born July 20, 1919 to Leo and Arrah (Reynolds) Westenbarger.
Surviving include: four sons, Reynold E. Westenbarger of Fostoria, Daryl L. Westenbarger of Guyton, GA., Jamie L. Westenbarger of St. Pete, FL., and Mark A. Westenbarger of Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Rebecca) Lawless of Helena, OH., Cheryl Westenbarger of Toledo, and JoLynn Geren of Fostoria; a companion, Velma Green of Fostoria; 16 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Westenbarger was a tool and die maker for Excello of Fostoria for 27 years and retired in 1981. He was a member of the VFW and AMVETS of Fostoria.
The funeral services and burial are private. There will be no visitation.

Joyce H. Wiedle

Joyce H. Wiedle, 67, of East SR 101, Clyde, Ohio, died Thursday, March 4, 1999 at Firelands Community Hospital, having been in failing health for ten years.
She was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Robert and Miriam (Knauer) Harper Debo. She was married
June 17, 1949, to Norman Wiedle, who survives.
Other survivors include: her mother, Miriam Wiedle of Clyde; two sons, Robert Wiedle of Bellevue and William Wiedle of Fremont; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Betty Jo) Riedy of Sandusky; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Jean) Leber of Clyde and Mrs. George (June) Younker of Vickery; and special care givers, Sylvia Coyl and Brenda Edwards.
Preceding her in death were her father, Robert Harper, and step-father, Keith Debo.
Mrs. Wiedle was a 1949 graduate of Township High School and a homemaker. She was employed by Clyde-Green Springs Schools as a cook at the high school. A member of Congregational United Church of Christ, Castalia, she also belonged to Vacationland Campers.
The Rev. John Paputza will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m. Monday at Parkhurst cemetery, rural Clyde.
There is no visitation. Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Gladys E. Smith
Retired Heidelberg secretary
Gladys E. Smith, 89, formerly of RR 1, Republic, Ohio, died at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the Arbors of Clyde Nursing Center, where she had resided for 16 years while suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.
She was born March 23, 1909, in Scipio Township, Seneca County, to the late George E. and Susan Elizabeth (Carry) Oakleaf. She married
Paul S. Smith, June 11, 1933, in Adams Lutheran (now Zion Lutheran) Church, Republic, Ohio. He died May 12, 1973.
Suvivors include: a son, Ronald R. Smith of Republic; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert B. (Paula Jean) Crum of Tiffin, Ohio; and 4 grandchildren.
A brother, Curtis Oakleaf, and a sister, Faye Vance, preceded her in death.
A 1927 graduate of Republic High School, Mrs. Smith received her business degree in 1929 from Tiffin University. She was a member of the faculty of the Department of Education at Heidelberg College from 1958 until 1970, when she retired. She and her husband owned and operated the Polar Bar Dairyland Drive-In Restaurant in Tiffin. Mrs. Smith was a baptized and confirmed member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Republic, where she participated in the Adult Church League and American Lutheran Church Women's Organization.
Having lived and worked on the farm, Mrs. Smith enjoyed gardening and flowers. Other organizations to which she belonged included: Farm Bureau; Seneca County Cooperative Extension Service; West Lodi Aids Society in which she held an office; past Worthy Matron of Cornelia Chapter 93, Ohio Eastern Star, of which she was a 52-year member; Past Matrons and Patrons Association, OES District 5; Women's Association with the Knights Templar of Tiffin; and Faculty of Women of Heidelberg College.
The Rev. Paul R. Long will preside at the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Republic. Burial will be in Fireside cemetery. At 9:15 a.m., the Cornelia Chapter 93 will conduct Eastern Star services at the church prior to the funeral.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Republic-Bloomville Home of Lindsey-Olds, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.

Rule Dee Egbert, Jr.

Rule Dee Egbert, Jr., 74, of 250 Ohio Ave., Tiffin, Ohio, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 1999 in St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Tiffin, to the late Ruth (Harper) and Rule D. Egbert, Sr.
Survivors include: his wife Edith; four daughters, Karen Egbert Kraft of Washington, D.C., Susan Egbert Young of Sydney, Australia, Lisa Crider of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Gwen Berlekamp of Powell, Ohio; a step-son, Larry Queen of Salem, Ore.; 8 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Kenneth Egbert, both of Tiffin; and three sisters, Irene Walcutt of Florida, Dorothy Kegerreis of Arkansas, and Jane Butdorf of Fremont, Ohio.
Mr. Egbert graduated from Columbian High School in 1942 and was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy, Lieutenant Junior Grade. He attended Oberlin College, playing on two Ohio Conference football teams, and attended Harvard and Columbia Universities. He finished his education at Heidelberg, graduating in 1948 and playing again on Heidelberg's Ohio Conference Champion Football team.
Owner and operator of Amplex Electric, Mr. Egbert was a member of the Toledo Electrical Contractors Association. He belonged to Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin. He also was a member and past officer of numerous Masonic organizations. These include: 50-year member of Tiffin Lodge 77, Seneca Chapter 42, and Clinton Council 47; Past Exalted Ruler of Tiffin Elks; Charter Member of Tiffin Hornets; DeMolay Commandery 9; Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; Zenobia Shrine, Toledo; and Tiffin Shrine Club.
The Rev. William Smith will officiate at the funeral at 1 p.m. Monday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home, Tiffin. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, where the United Veterans' Council will have graveside services.
Visitation will be 7-9 Saturday, 7-9 Sunday, and one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home. Tiffin Lodge 77 F & AM will conduct a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Sunday at Turner-Engle.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
