GLASSMAN Marvin L. Glassman, age 78, of Bexley, Oh., passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2002. Marvin attended Columbus and Bexley Public Schools and graduated from Kentucky Military Institute. He attended The Ohio State University and received the Purple Heart and various Combat Medals for his service in the U.S. Army/Air Force in the European Theater during WW II. Marvin served as a Treasurer and then as President of United Transportation/Yellow Cab. He was active in the community with the United Way, AAA Safety Council, Downtown Area Committee and the Columbus Traffic Commission. Marvin originated and developed with the Columbus Jaycees, "TV for PV" Television for Polio Victims at Children's Hospital. Marvin was a member of the board of Temple Israel, Heritage Village, Hebrew Union College, Family Service Association of America, and the Leo Yassenoff Jewish Center. He was a past President of the Columbus Jewish Federation, Temple Israel Foundation, Columbus Jewish Foundation, Columbus Jewish Family Service, International Taxicab Owners Association, Ohio Taxicab Owners Association, Columbus Taxicab Owners Association and Cerebral Palsy. Marvin was honored by the Columbus Jaycees in 1959 as Columbus Outstanding Man of the Year and by the Ohio Jaycees as Outstanding Man of the Year in the same year. In 1960, he received the Columbus Jewish Federation Young Leadership Award. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Amelia Edlis Glassman. He is survived by his children, Jeff and Sandy Glassman of Bexley and Jan Glassman and Joel Sowalsky of West Newton, Mass.; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Robert Witt of Highland Park, Ill.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Zara and Nathan Tabor, Effie and Robert Cohen of Pittsburgh, Pa.; as well as his 5 grandchildren, Erin and Matt Glassman, Adam, Emily and Joshua Sowalsky. GREENE Timothy A. Greene, Sr., 65, passed away Monday, September 23, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was employed by Riverside Methodist Hospital, Rockwell International and McDonnell Douglas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and went to Columbus North High School. Preceded in death by wife Barbara Jean Greene, parents James J. Green and Dorothea (Faller) Burke. Survived by sons, Tim A. (Susan Matney) Greene, Jr., and James E. Greene; granddaughters, Skylynn and Selena; brothers, Jimmy (Donna) Green, Terry Green and Gerald W. (Carol) Greene; sister, Sharon A. Groves; many nieces and nephews. HAFF, SR. Peter J. Haff Sr., age 83, of Worthington, OH died Monday, September 23, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Survived by wife of 54 years, Alice; son, Peter J. (Pamela) Haff Jr. of Upper Sandusky, OH; daughter, Christine Prezioso of Columbus; grandchildren, Heather Haff (Kevin) Albanese, Melissa Haff and Emily Haff; brother, Harold W. (Pat) Haff of Ponte Vedra, FL. Preceded in death by parents and brother Charles E. Haff. Mr. Haff was retired from Grolier Society of New York City; one of the first to hold dual membership in both Pelham Lodge #716, Bronx, NY. and New England Lodge #4, Worthington. Member of Aladdin Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus. Member of Worthington Shrine Club and past president of 1918 Club. A U.S. Army Air Corp veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He was an avid Met's fan and enjoyed talking with family and friends on the telephone. HENRY Daniel Lee Henry, 61, passed away September 22, 2002 at the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico after a short battle with cancer. He was an Account Representative with Wayne Dalton. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Anna; children, Susan (Clark) Watson, Rob (Susan) Henry, Tim (Kelly) Rothgeb and Connie (Ron) Farabaugh; grandchildren, Ryan, Benjamin, Jacob, Owen, Foster, Milam, Faith, Olivia, Alex and Ashton; sister, L'Jean (Tim) Floyd; first wife, Barbara (Bill) Rothgeb; nieces and nephews. KOSHIBA Alice Joan Clowe Koshiba, 75, of Columbus, Oh., Monday, September 23, 2002. Born August 30, 1927 to Alice Berenice Martz Clowe and Craven Clowe in Ft. Wayne, Ind. Preceded in death by husband Albert M. Koshiba. Survived by her sons, David A. Koshiba and wife, Linda of St. Louis, Mo., Jeffrey W. Koshiba and wife, Donna of Zanesville, Oh.; daughter, Carol L. Koshiba of Columbus, Oh.; sister, Mary Dearth and husband, Robert of Tucson, Ariz.; brother, Robert W. Clowe and wife, Patricia of Lancaster, Oh.; sister, Hazel J. Alice also was a Sunday School teacher. She was a lifetime member of the Riverside Methodist Sewing Guild #49 and a 57 year member of Beacon Chapter #593 (formerly R.T. King Chapter), OES. She was a leader for both the Cub Scouts and Blue Birds. Alice worked for Battelle Memorial Institute and retired from the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission. LOUDERMILK Lester Eugene Loudermilk, age 66, of Milford Center, died after a courageous battle Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Heartland of Marysville surrounded by his family. Born November 10, 1935 in Hilliard. Member Marysville Moose, Earth Angels Foundation, an avid NASCAR fan who has driven in races at Lima Speedway, Shady Bowl, Eldora and Powell race tracks. Enjoyed bowling, woodworking and never knew a stranger. Preceded in death by parents Addison Lee and Bonnie (Rigsby) Loudermilk, infant daughter Lavonna D. Loudermilk, brother Herman Loudermilk, sister Bonnie Cremeans. LYONS Loetta "Dood" Pack Lyons, age 67, passed away September 25, 2002 at Grant Hospital. She loved Bingo, her grandchildren and her flowers. MILLER Robert E. Miller, 84, of Washington C.H., died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Auburn Manor. He was a lifelong resident of Washington C.H. Mr. Miller was originally employed by the Washington Mortuary Supply Company in 1950 and retired in 1982 from Ferno-Washington Company. He was a member of the Fayette Lodge #107 F&AM, Valley of Columbus, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Washington Shrine Club, Washington Lodge #129, BPOE, Fayette Chapter #103 R.A.M. He was preceded in death by his wife Alleen Miller in 1991. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Miller of Columbus; sister-in-law, Helen Denen of Washington C.H. PATRICK Evelyn C. Patrick, age 86, of Columbus, died September 25, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born July 1, 1916 in Freeport, Pa. to Willard M. and Nancy M. (Foster) Lockard. She had lived in Tarentam, Sarver and Grove City, Pa. before moving to Mt. Vernon, Oh. in 1929. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1934 and from Asbury College, Ky. in 1938. She taught in the Mount Vernon School system for 6 years. She married
Howard H. Patrick of Sparta, Oh. on May 28, 1943. She and her husband served United Methodist Churches in Creston, New Concord, Akron Firestone Park and Orville, Oh. Their retirement years were spent in Mount Vernon, Oh. and Wesley Glen Retirement Center in Columbus, Oh. She is survived by 2 sons, Larry D. (Jenneil) Patrick of Seffner, Fla. and Dean R. (Joanne) Patrick of Longwood, Fla.; 1 daughter, Janet P. (Thomas) Goodwin of Hilliard; grandchildren, David, Lindsay and Mollie Patrick of Seffner, Fla. and Bradley and Matthew Goodwin of Hilliard; 1 sister, Marjorie (Harry) Snyder of Tallassee, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Evolenna Morris and grandchildren Shawn, Kindra and Tiffany Everts. WOLPERT Richard Lee Wolpert, age 75, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2002. He was a retired farmer from Hilliard and lived on the farm where he was born. He loved Jesus, he loved his family and he loved to farm. He was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dublin, Oh. He is preceded in death by his father Paul, mother Emma, brothers Ronald and Harold. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Elverna; son, State Representative Larry Wolpert; daughter, Mary (John) Wayman; granddaughters, Courtney and Sarah; numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Hilliard High School, Class of 1945. His great-great-grandfather, Christian Wolpert settled in the Dublin-Hilliard area in 1848. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, 6135 Rings Rd., Dublin. Revs. David Reimann, Scott Giger, Gerald Heimlich and Steve Rice will be officiating. Interment Dublin cemetery. The family will receive flowers or contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund.
WOODS Patty Ruth Woods, daughter of the late Icen and Sylvia Harding departed this life on September 22, 2002. The youngest of three daughters, she was born in Glouster, Ohio on December 9, 1934. Upon graduation from Glouster H.S. she lived and worked in Athens, Oh. and Philadelphia, Pa. before finally settling and raising her family in Columbus, Oh. She retired from the State of Ohio - Human Services Department after 29 years of service. She was a faithful member of The Community of St. John the Evangelist and Holy Rosary Church. Her activities included being a member of St. Peters Claver Ladies Auxiliary, St. Cyprian Court #298; The Community of St. John the Evangelist and Holy Rosary Church service group; St. John food pantry; and a lector. Along with parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Wanda Harding, an Aunt Elizabeth Grey, an Uncle Edgar Grey. She leaves to mourn her, son, Stephen Woods; daughter, (niece) Sylvia Harding; sister, Betty Reavis; 2 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2002 at the St. John the Evangelist and Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 648 S. Ohio Ave. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday at SCHOEDINGER STATE ST. CHAPEL, 229 E. State St. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A graveside service and interment will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Lawn Memory Gardens in Nelsonville, Oh.
