QUINLAN Jane A. Quinlan, age 78, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Preceded in death by parents Dennis A. and Katherine C. Quinlan, brother Dennis J. Quinlan. She is survived by sister, Mary Kay Caylor; sister-in-law, Nancy Quinlan; nephews, Timothy, Thomas, Terrence (Susan) and Robert Quinlan; niece, Kathleen (Jerry) Lepley; great-nephew, Jonathan Lepley. Jane graduated from Rosary High School in 1941 and worked for Michigan Mutual Insurance. Past-president Ohio Women's Insurance Association. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, N. High St. and E. Dominion Blvd., where the family will receive friends after 10 a.m. Burial St. Joseph cemetery. REINIER Evelyn Mae Reinier, age 65, died September 6, 2002. She was a member of The Galloway Apostolic Church and retired from Worthington Foods. Preceded in death by husband Eugene (Bunk) Reinier, daughter Dianna Coleman and sister Geraldine Cade. Survived by children, Alfred (Norine) Palmer Jr., Paul (Vickie) Palmer, Kandy (Rick) Brown, Raymond (Holly) Coleman and Penny (Franco) Sorrentino; brother, Paul C. (Betty) Klein; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Beloved pet, Chelsea; and best friend, Charlene Barriett. ROBERTS Jason Roberts, age 25, of Columbus passed away Friday, September 6, 2002 at OSU Medical Center. Jason was a 1995 graduate of Teays Valley High School, attended Columbus State and OSU, and was a manager for Central Parking Systems. He loved cars, music, sports, the beach, life and he was a big fan of the Buckeyes, the Browns, and the Indians. Preceded in death by his father Richard, grandparents Vernon and Charlotte Roberts and Beril and Alleen Crace. THOMPSON Duan Rebecca Thompson, 72, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2002 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital after an extended illness. She was born December 16, 1929 to Jennie and Earl B. Wilson in Columbus, Oh. Mrs. Thompson was an active member of First A.M.E. Zion Church, as well as in the Columbus Community. Mrs. Thompson was a member of The Bell's for Mental Health organization for 25 years, The Continental International Social Club, Executive Board of Mental Health, Franklin Village Executive Board, Executive Board of the Urban League. Member of the N.A.A.C.P., the Columbus Child Guidance League, the Mt. Vernon Avenue Business and Improvement Association, and was the first African American Manager in Columbus for Avon (1963-1970). She was also an active Business Owner and member of the Mt. Vernon Community where she and her late husband Norris owned and operated several busniesses. Mrs. Thompson or "Mommy Dee" as known to friends and loved ones will truly be missed, although we all carry a piece of her in our hearts. She is preceded in death by parents Earl B. and Jennie Wilson and husband Norris H. TRIPLETT Roberta "Bertie" Triplett, age 86, of Columbus at Select Speciality Hospital in Riverside Hospital late Thursday. She is preceded in death by husband Ralph C. and son Ivan R. She was born in Sumner County, Tenn., December 20, 1915. A long-time Church of Christ member, she was a homemaker with a great sense of humor, a love of travel, quilting and card playing. Survived by the children who surrounded her at death, Polly Mowery, Mark and Alan Triplett; grandsons and their wives, Mike and Becky, Brett and Melody, Matt and Amanda; granddaughters, Marci and Vickie; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Included in her extended family were Jo Anne Gabriel, Tom McGowan and many special friends. The family will greet visitors Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus Street, Grove City, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Concord cemetery. WAGENAAR John R. Wagenaar, 47, born in Libertyville, Ill., died September 4, 2002. He is survived by wife, Sandra; sons, Kyle and Richard Wagenaar; and mother, Joan. John is preceded in death by father Harry. John is also survived by sister, Joanna; brothers, H. Michael, Tom and Robert; 3 adult children, John Ray, Evan and Lorrelei; 2 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. BREMNER Robert H. Bremner, 85, professor emeritus of history at The Ohio State University, on September 7, 2002. He was born in Brunswick, Oh to George L. and Sue Hamlett Bremner and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine Marting Bremner; daughters, Sue Bremner of Paris, France and Ann Bremner (Michael Spicer) of Columbus. He graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1935 and received M.A. (1939) and Ph.D. (1943) degrees from Ohio State University. Following civilian employment with the U.S. War Department in World War II in Europe and Washington D.C. and with the Red Cross in Washington, he joined the faculty of OSU in 1946 and taught courses in Recent American History, History of American Social Thought and History of American Philanthropy and Social Welfare, retiring in 1980. He held visiting appointments at the Universities of Cincinnati, Wisconsin and Michigan and received fellowships from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the Huntington Library, Social Sciences Research Council, Harvard University, Rockefeller Foundation and National Endowment for the Humanities. In 1980, Ohio State University awarded him the Joseph Sullivant Medal. He was also the recipient of the university's Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching. He wrote widely in the field of U.S. history and won recognition for his studies of American attitudes toward poverty, the history of philanthropy and social welfare and public policy toward children and youth in the United States.
