COX Hildred V. Cox, of Columbus, left our world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at St. Ann's Hospital. She was born July 20, 1915 in London, Oh. to the late David and Eva Jeffers. She was self-employed with her husband, Willard "Bill" Cox at the Golden Bear Hardware Store. She spent 21 years of retirement in Bonita Springs, Fla. and was a member of the Anchor Christian Church in Bonita Springs. Her survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Willard "Bill" Cox; daughter, Barbara Carey; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Darylene Cox, all of Columbus; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many friends. CROW William F. Crow, age 68, of Reynoldsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at his residence. William was born in Cleveland, Oh. to William H. and Frances L. (Ferguson) Crow who preceded him in death. Retired after 33 years as an Avionics Engineer for Rockwell International and its predecessor North American Aviation. During that time, he worked on electronic integration programs and testing plans for many aircrafts. After retiring from Rockwell, he worked as a consultant for Sparton in New Mexico and Snow Aviation in Columbus. Received his BSEE Degree from the University of Dayton. Survived by wife, Marjorie (Conaway); daughter, Sharon (Kenneth) Rastatter of Hilliard; son, Darren (Sonya) Crow of Columbus; grandchildren, Olivia and Valerie Rastatter, Jared and Mason Crow. FERRELL Rhea M. (Wilson) Ferrell, age 74, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at her home in Reynoldsburg, after a lengthy illness. She retired from Reynoldsburg KMart, was a member of Reynoldsburg Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Roland T. Ferrell, parents Carl and Florence Wilson, grandparents Cornelius and Rhea Knodel. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Chuck) Lemley, Londa Carpenter, Mary (Sam) Wimer and Patricia (Neal) Simmermon; sons, James, David (Sandy) and Mark Ferrell; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; sister, Norma (Lee) Price; brother, Richard (June) Wilson; many other relatives and friends. FOOTE James E. Foote, age 79, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., formerly of Columbus, Oh., passed away August 10, 2002 at home after a lengthy illness. Born August 15, 1922 in Danville, Ill. to Edward and Elma (Smith) Foote. Most recently, Jim was employed by Dorchester Golf Club where he thoroughly enjoyed meeting residents and visitors to Fairfield Glade. Prior to moving to Tenn., Jim had retired from Marathon Oil, Findley, Oh. and Torco Pest Control in Columbus. Throughout his lifetime, Jim was active in community service, particularly through Kiwanis both at the local and state levels in Oh. and Tenn. He was a 50+ year active member of the Aladdin Temple Shrine in Columbus and served many years in the Aladdin Temple Marching Foot Patrol. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. The activities of fund raising including the yearly Shrine circus brought him great pleasure and benefited the Shriners Children's Hospitals. Mr. Foote also served during WW II in the U.S. Navy. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donna M. (Wendel) Foote; daughters, Pamela Rosen of Columbus, Penny Farrar and son-in-law, Michael Farrar of Grove City; grandson, Joshua Musick and fiance, Meta Brown of Madison, Wis.; grandson, Ethan Farrar; granddaughter, Molly Farrar; sister, Wilma Cox of Dayton, Oh.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade. There will be no visitation. HAIN John Henry Hain, 79, born May 11, 1923, departed this Earth on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Kobacker House. A current member of Maize Manor Methodist Church where he was active in the "Methodist Men" Club. A past member of South Methodist Church. He graduated from South High School, Columbus, Ohio, Class of 1941 and actively served as an alumni class treasurer. A graduate of Franklin University, Columbus, Oh., in Business, and attended OSU for 2 years were he was a member of Kappa Sigma. A WW II "Armed Guard" Navy Veteran. He retired in 1985 after 35 years of service from Nationwide Insurance Co. Survived by wife of 53 years, Barbara Jean (Houghn) Hain; daughters, Holly (William) Weber of Marysville, Oh., Marcia Hain of Columbus, Paula (Barney) Spiggle of Plant City, Fl, Dorla (Michael) Tobey of Powell, Oh.; son, David (Pearl) Hain of Ashland, KY.; granddaughters, Tara (Brad) Gilbert, Jody and Audrey Weber, Jessica and Kelly Tobey, Jenine Hain; grandsons, Alan Tobey and Jacob Hain; cousins, Mary Saunders and Ada Belle (Edward) McLaughlin; nieces, Meredith (Paul) Hixon and Jan (Robert) Bishop; grandniece, Maggie and grandnephew, McKenzie. HAYWARD Elizabeth Browning (Libby) Hayward, born in New Philadelphia, Oh., May 24, 1924, went to be with the Lord August 11, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, John W. Hayward and loving children, Tom (Sandy) Hadder, Lynda Williams, Greg (Kathleen) Hadder, Jim (Linda) Hayward and Mike (Victoria) Hayward. "Mimi" will be dearly missed by her 9 grandchildren, Stephan, Ian Michael, Tim, Noelle, Branden, Trenton, Kristin, Marcy and Erin. She also leaves behind her sister, Sally Strine of Issaquah, Wash. and many other dear family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Browning. Libby graduated from New Philadelphia High School and received her B.S. in Education from The Ohio State University in 1946. She taught typing and English at Medina Junior High, Linden McKinley and South High School. In her earlier years, she was a dedicated equestrian, raised horses, and was a swimmer. Libby was devoted to raising her three children. Later, she was an avid golfer, and enjoyed all of her grandchildren. JOHNS Anna "Melba" Valentine Johns, age 75, was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 10, 2002 at OSU Medical Center. She was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church where she served as an usher, in the Pastor's Service Club, and as a church trustee. Retired from AEP as the Head Switchboard Operator. KINDIG Owen R. Kindig, age 78, passed away Monday, August 12, 2002 at his home in Newark, Oh. He was beloved by many for his humor and compassion. Owen is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Margaret "Peg"; daughter, Karole Anne Doran of Louisville, Ky.; son, O. Richard Kindig Jr. of Newark, Oh.; 4 granddaughters, Emily Crisan, Rebecca Koreny, Rachel and Lydia Kindig. Also survived by brother, Martin of Indianapolis, Ind.; 3 sisters, Clarice Miles, Joan Cook and Margaret Goss, all of Ind. Owen served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps in Okinawa in WW II. He was an electron microscopist research associate at OSU Veterinary Pathobiology for 25 years, retiring in 1988. LONG Edith Marie Sherer "Edie" Long, age 77, of Bexley, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family, August 13, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents the Rev. William and Gertrude Sherer and her sister Ruth Hueter. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Charles E. Long; children, John (Nancy) Long, Suzi (Larry) Michaels, Jeff (Betsy) Long, Nancy (Jeff Boehm) Long; grandsons, Adam, Ben, Brandon, Nathan, Steven and Greg; and brother, Paul Sherer. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, where she served as a Shepherd. A graduate of Capital University, Edie served as office manager for husband's medical practice. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She had a lifelong love of baseball, and was a devoted fan of the Columbus Clippers.
