STANLEY Dorothy E. Stanley, daughter of the late James Lawless Gregory and Lucy Ford Gregory was born November 10, 1934 in Columbus, OH. She was the third of 3 children born to this union. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers Samuel L. and James L. Gregory and husband Robert R. Stanley. Her parents had 2 sons and wanted a girl. When she was born she was named "Dorothy" which means "Gift of God". Dorothy was a graduate of East High School in June 1952 and attended college for 3 years. She attended Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, was baptized May 8, 1954; received the Holy Ghost July 3, 1954. She was also a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church, London, OH and later became a member of Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith. She was united in marriage to Robert Rae Stanley in 1957. One son was born to this union, Christopher Rae Stanley. She was employed by the Federal Government and retired with 27 years of service. She was also employed by CMACAO from 1990-1995 as an office manager. Her hobby was sports. She was a member of the Tennis Club at Beatty Center. Her motto was "Service to Mankind". Dorothy departed this life at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at the age of 67. She leaves to cherish her memory son, Christopher Rae Stanley; aunt, Laura Ford Dorsey of Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law, Janet Malone (Michael) of Springfield, OH and Beatrice Gregory of Akron, OH; devoted friend and care giver, Billy Holland; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Service of memory Thursday 11 a.m. Apostolic Faith Temple, 1634 E. Main St. Bishop Nathaniel Jordan officiating. Mrs. Stanley will lie in state Thursday after 9 a.m. in the church, where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment Eastlawn cemetery. STILSON David "Lefty" "Plywood Man" Stilson, age 70, of Columbus, Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at home. Retired from U.S. Plywood and Western Auto. Veteran of U.S. Army, Korean War. Preceded in death by wife Peggy J. and many brothers and sisters. Survived by devoted and loving children, David C. (Roseanne M.) of TN, Randy G. (Darlene), Jody (Mark) Biggers, Peggy S. (Christopher) Bacca, Tom Ross and Julie Ross, all of Columbus; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Tommy (Patty) Stilson of Westerville; loving sister, Janet (Gene) Marlow of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews. SULLIVAN Mary Kathryn Morris Sullivan, 85, nurse and businesswoman. Chapel service for Kay Kathryn Morris Sullivan will be held at the Busch Memorial Home at 4334 Pearl Road in Cleveland, Oh. at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2002. Mrs. Sullivan died Monday in Mercy Hospital of Springfield, Oh., near her home in South Vienna. Mrs. Sullivan was born in Waverly, Oh. and moved to Cleveland at the age of 17 to study and become a surgical nurse at the Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital. Later she and her husband Paul A. Sullivan (deceased) built two businesses in Cleveland: The Coffee Pot Restaurant and Sullivan's Lawn & Garden Store. She lived in Parma, Oh. from 1950 to 1967. In 1967 they moved to London, Oh. and created Mainline of N.A., an agricultural related distribution and retail store. Mrs. Sullivan was a loving wife, mother and rescuer of lost animals. In addition to her children, Paul K. Sullivan of Columbus and Linda Sullivan Dye of Verona, N.J., she is survived by her sisters, Dora Yavorsky of Youngstown, Helen Overholt of Cleveland and Louise Tesar of Bowie, Md.; brother, Harold Morris of Parma. Mrs. Sullivan also has 2 grandsons and 1 great-grandson. Local arrangements by THE NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 268-8811.

THOMAS Carol Ann Thomas, age 70, of Columbus, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born February 16, 1932 in Columbus to the late Glenn Elmer and Beulah Marie (Roush) Thomas. Carol was a 1949 graduate of Columbus North High School and a former member of Maynard Ave. Methodist Church. She was a legal secretary with Alexander, Ebinger, Fisher, McAlister & Lawrence and retired as legal secretary for Hon. Judge John D. Holschuh. Carol is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sharon Thomas of Killen, Ala.; niece, Rene (Tom) Maxwell of Delaware; nephew, Robert (Anita) Thomas of Wylie, Tex.; 3 grandnieces; 2 grandnephews. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002 at the Chapel of Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5600 East Broad St., Columbus, where family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice in Carol's memory. TRINCA Prudence A. Trinca, age 89, of Columbus, passed away peacefully at home, May 21, 2002. Survived by loving husband of 61 years, Anthony Trinca; daughter and son-in-law, Anita Newport and Craig Mielke; grandson, Peter Anthony Newport; sister, Elizabeth (Phillip) Comparetto; brothers, Michael (Lena) and Nicholas (Marie) Caracappa. VIRAGO Bliss Johnston Virago, age 54, died May 20, 2002 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus. Internationally acclaimed pianist, conductor, and teacher, Bliss Johnston Virago was born in Huntington, W.V. Her extraordinary musical talent and intellect was discovered early in her childhood, when she excelled at flute, violin, and piano. At the age of 16, Bliss entered the Julliard School where she graduated with diplomas in piano and violin. She soon developed an intense passion for vocal music and became a protege of the famed Metropolitan Opera coach and assistant conductor, Alberta Masiello, while receiving scholarship grants from the Martha Baird Rockefeller Foundation. Other teachers included Max Rudolf, Igor Kipnis and Kurt Adler. From 1969-1978 she was accompanist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, for the final concerts, for many Texaco Opera broadcasts, as well as for the Met itself. For ten years Bliss assisted Maestro Richard Bonynge at the San Francisco Opera, Austrialian Opera, and in Vancouver, Canada, where from 1974-77 at his invitation she headed the Vancouver Opera Young Artists Program. From 1975-1976 she was assistant conductor for Decca Records responsible for musical preparation for opera recordings that still today are considered landmarks. Her conducting debut was in San Paolo, Brazil in 1979, and for three years, she was the artistic director and conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Hawaii. Some of the many opera companies that experienced her talent were Hartford, Philadelphia, Amsterdam, Puerto Rico, Barcelona, Japan and Covett Garden in London. Bliss was accomplished music scholar and linguist and was devoted to singers as a vocal coach and accompanist, in this capacity she has worked with many of the world's most noted singers, including Luciano Pavarotti, Joan Sutherland, Marilyn Horne, Renato Scotto, Placido Domingo, Birgit Nilsson and Simon Estes. During the past five years Bliss made her home in Treviso, Italy, where she was married to the wood sculptor and artisan, Mario Virago. In addition to ongoing work in Canada, Slovenia, Salzburg, Austria, Padua, and Santa Margherita, Italy, she made several visits to Columbus during the last two years, where she coached singers in the city and at The Ohio State Univeristy School of Music. She died in Columbus after a brief illness. In addition to her hsuband, she is survived by father, John Johnston III of Huntington, W.V.; mother, Peggy V. Johnston of Proctorville, Oh.; sister, Mrs. Eric Thompson of Raleigh, N.C.; aunt, Gloria Kidder of Columbus. A Funeral Mass was held 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Seton Parish Catholic Church, 600 Hill Rd. North, Pickerington. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested friends consider donations to the Bliss Johnston Virago Memorial Trust Fund, which will be used to promote the training of young singers and vocal coaches. WATTS Nancy D. Watts, 50 passed away on May 11, 2002, in Pasadena, Texas. Born in Columbus, Ohio on October 5, 1951. She was a kindergarten teacher in the Pasadena Independent School system. Graduate of North High School and of The Ohio State University College of Education. She received her Masters Degree in elementary education from University of Houston, Clear Lake. Preceded in death by her husband of 22 years Grayum A. Watts. Survived by her parents Dale and Nancy Dempsey of Columbus, Ohio; great aunt Dorothy Demptster of Lima, Ohio; uncle John Dempsey of Columbus, Ohio; siblings Rebecca Landon of Corpus Christi, Texas; Carol (Lawrence) Watts of Blacklick, Ohio; Dale David Dempsey of Seattle, Washington; Joyce (Ronald) Albaugh of Powell, Ohio; Sally (William) Borghese of Westerville, Ohio; James (Melanie) Dempsey of Midlothian, Virginia, and Amy Dempsey of Columbus, Ohio; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many very special friends. Preceded in death by parents Antonio and Louise Agriesti, brothers and sisters and their spouses Joseph Agriesti, James Agriesti, Christina Perrini, Lena Hampton and Rocky Agriesti. Survived by nephews, Ken (Linda) Hampton, Nicholas Perrini, Edward Perrini and Robert Agriesti; many nieces and nephews, including Julie Hampton, Mary (Jeff) Estep and Katherine Hampton. AKERS E. Pauline (Polly) Akers, born April 6, 1919, passed away at Grant Hospital on May 27, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, F. Kay (Ralph E.) Mowery; sister, Lovena Moore; sister-in-law, Garnet Triplett; several nieces, nephews and very special friends, Charles and Inez Snedecor. She was preceded in death by her husband J.V. (Virg) Akers, grandson J. Scott Nourse, 1 sister and 4 brothers. Polly worked with her husband for many years at the Classic, Sunset and Rainbow bowling lanes in Portsmouth, Oh. Very active with blood drives and solicitation of funds for Childrens Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Oh. She started the Hemophilia Bowling tournament held annually in Portsmouth, Oh. Preceded in death by husband Bud and son Ray Chamberlain, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
