LYNCH David J. Lynch, 87, of Marblehead, Oh., went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at 10:45 p.m. after a short illness at the Cleveland Clinic. A decorated WW II U.S. Army Infantry Sergeant/1st Corps/58th Signal Battalion/Technician 1st Class/Asiatic, Pacific Theater. Preceded in death by his father Ottawa County Sheriff Deputy and realtor Phillip Lynch and his mother Carry Lynch (the former Carry Lombard Rockey of Lithopolis, Oh.), a brother (Huber Village and Huber Heights Developer) Ralph Lynch and his wife, Charlotte of Westerville and infant son Ronald of Lakeside. Surviving David is his loving wife of 57 years, Helen Verock Lynch; sister, Florence Russell of Sandusky; brother-in-law, Joseph Verock and wife, Alice of Toledo; sister-in-law, Rosella Verock of Upper Arlington, Oh.; sister-in-law, Helen Verock of RR 4, Sandusky and her children and Dave's daughters, Rosalyn and Rita of Lakeside-Marblehead; sons, Russell of Berea and Raymond of Box 100, Grove City, Oh. 43123-0100. Also surviving David are grandchildren, David Schraff of Cleveland, Patrick of Berea, Shawn of Strongsville, Carl White of Williamsport, Jimmy White of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews of Oh. and surrounding states. David retired CEO and President of The Port Clinton Lumber Co. after 48 years, served 18 years in all capacities, including president of the Danbury Board of Education of Ottawa County and served on the Port Clinton Magruder Hospital Board of Directors. He was an active member of The National Lumbermans Association, the National Redi-Mix Concrete Operators Association, the Catawba Island Club and Plum Brook C.C. of Sandusky. David was a lifelong Christian of Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Marblehead, Oh. and will be buried in St. Joseph cemetery after the 10 a.m. Mass on Monday, May 20. A light luncheon will follow in the Church Basement. SMITH Phyllis D. Smith, 70, of Springfield, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center. She was born February 10, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Edward W. and Edna (Gray) Damsel. Phyllis was a graduate of Linden-McKinley High School and a member of Central Christian Church. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for 5* years and later involved in Boy Scouts of America. Phyllis was active in the PTA at Emerson and was a member of the National Cambridge Glass Collectors. She also was newsletter editor of the Crystal Ball for 16 years. Survivors include two sons, Edward W. (Becky) Smith and Mark A. Smith, all of Springfield; two grandchildren, Nicholas W. and Samantha B. Smith; her father-in-law, R.K. Hill of Cambridge, Oh.; a sister, Thelma (George) Davidson of Bellefontaine, Oh.; two brothers-in-law, Henry Smith and Bill (Janice) Hill; sister-in-law, Marge (Roger) Seaton; nephew, Donald (Emily) Davidson; and cousin, Geneva Crabbe. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Smith in September of 1991. Her body was entrusted to the WOODS-ALLGIER FUNERAL HOME, 625 N. STAMETS Sue Stamets, 70, Lancaster, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Fairfield Medical Center. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ. Member and former officer of the Fairfield County Garden Club, former Elder and Deacon in the Church, a farm owner, and a member of Fairfield County in Bloom, 1992. She is survived by husband, John M. Stamets; son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Elizabeth Stamets; grandchildren, Jonathan, Sarah and David Stamets, all of Lancaster; sisters, Nancy (Bob) Myers of Florida, Jo Ellen (Phil) Adcox of Tennessee, Judy (Tom) Kosciuszko of Pataskala; and family friend, Homer Schaaf of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Jeannette Blessing. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Lancaster. VOGEL D. Marie Vogel, age 92, of Worthington Christian Village and formerly of Upper Arlington, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Daniel H. Vogel in January, 2000 and brothers, Edward O. Jenkins and George B. Jenkins. She retired from the U.S. Government. She is survived by her sister, Audrey Lee Jacobs of VA.; and other relatives and friends. Private interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. BREY Carl F. Brey, age 76, of Worthington, died Sunday, May 19, 2002. A WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, and an alumnus of Ohio Wesleyan University, Carl was retired as an engineer from Ranco after many years of service. He was the owner of Cee Bee Marine Products, a custom machinery and racing accessory company. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vivian; children Linda Brey Marous (Michael), Donald Carl Brey (Diane), Steven Phillip Brey (Lynda Ward); grandchildren, Daniel Marous, Sarah Marous; brother, George Brey; and many nieces, nephews and friends. BROOKS Lena M. (Obey) Brooks, age 72, of Columbus, died Saturday May 19, 2002 at OSU Hospital. Preceded in death by parents, sister Irene Hanley and brothers James and George Obey.
