BERNARD Helga Marie Bernard, died Thursday, May 2, 2002. Born August 2, 1922 in Bruenn, Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of Viktor Novotny and Josefine Kronas. She enjoyed her longtime bookkeeping job for the family business Minerva Park Furniture Gallery. Survived by daughters, Chris (Joe) Conie, Linda (Tom) Besser; son, Victor Bernard and fiancee, Debra LaMaire; grandchildren, Patricia (Scott) Lofquist, Cindy Conie, Stefanie (Jeff) Mowrey, Jason and Regina Bernard; great-grandchildren, Karen and Michael Lofquist. Preceding her in death were her husband John A. Bernard, sister Irma (John) Hahn, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Anthony (Esther) Bernard, Joseph (Mary) Bernard, Louis (Marguerite) Bernard, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Maryann (Joe) Bucci, Carmella (Dominic) Militello, Lucille (Julius) DiSabato, Minnie (Joe) Rossetti and Christina Bernard and infant sister Louise. BLAIR Charles Dale Blair, 81, of London, died Friday, May 3, 2002, 7:45 a.m. at the Madison County Hospital. He was born
September 8, 1920 in Marrow, Oh., he was a son of Harry and Maggie Mae (Wise) Blair. He was a member of the Madison County Sheep Producers, Madison Grange for many years, National Monidale Association, Odd Fellows Association and the London Lions. He recently attended Cypress Wesleyan Church. He was a member of the Madison County Senior Citizens, Ohio Fair Managers Association, The Madison County Historical Society, Buckeye Sheriff Association, Ohio Township Trustees Association and the FFA Alumni. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Richard Kurtz of Granville, Georgia and Kerry Fout of London; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lois Blair, Tim and Debbie Blair, all of London; grandchildren, Mike, Scott, Chris, Glenda, Chad, Talia, Sierra, Dustin and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Nicole, Nathan and Sherry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Faith D. (Stambaugh) Blair, November 8, 2000, brothers and sisters. BOYD (WATTS) Evelyn Jean (Watts) Boyd, age 79, passed away May 2, 2002, at her residence in Westerville. She will be remembered for her good nature and firecracker wit. Born in Utica, Oh., Evelyn spent her early years helping out at her parents' business, Watt's Restaurant. After graduating from Grant Hospital School of Nursing in 1944, she worked as an R.N. in office nursing, as the Head Nurse of the I.V. Team at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. and later at a number of retirement homes in Columbus and Westerville. Preceded in death by her mother and father Samaria and Herbert Watts, husband Bill and brother Robert. Survived by daughter, Melanie Boyd of Columbus; sister, Betty Scheidt of Dana Point, Calif.; aunt, Leveta Gold of Van Wert; niece, Jody Elliott of Dana Point, Calif.; nephew, Steven Watts of Newark; nephew, Dr. Gregory Watts of Shaker Heights; and her beloved poodle, Peaches. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington with Rev. Wendy Fish officiating. BROOKS Billy Ray Brooks, age 57, of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Columbus, Oh., passed away Thursday, May 2, 2002. He was retired from Columbus and Southern Power Co. and coaching little league. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Brooks Sr., his mother Essie Fancher and his brother Robert Brooks Jr. Survivors include his wife, Barbara H. Brooks; children, Daryl J. Brooks, Trinia D. Brooks and La'Tasha N. Brooks; step-children, Tara Hollings and Carrau Brewer; 6 grandchildren; brothers, Earl Brooks, Reginald Fancher (Marshida) and Stephen Fancher (Annette); sister, Deborah Gadson (Roderick). His funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2002 at 11 a.m. at RIDOUT'S ELMWOOD CHAPEL, Birmingham, Ala., 205-251-7227, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. BURTON Hager H. Burton, age 81, of Columbus, died May 2, 2002 at home. Member of Heritage Free Will Baptist Church, South Gate - Potter Lodge #784 F&AM and Scottish Rite. Veteran of U.S. Air Force, T/Sgt 461st Bomb Group, flew 35 missions as engineer gunner in WW II. Retired from C&O RR. CROXTON Connie S. Croxton, 43, of Columbus, Oh., passed away Wednesday, O.S.U. Hospital East. Survived by loving husband of 20 years, Leroy E. FEWELL Rose (Manicho) Fewell, age 92, of Grove City, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Grant Medical Center. She was retired from Timkin Roller Bearing with 30 years of service. Preceded in death by husband Clyde Fewell and brothers Domonic, Frank and George Manicho.
