Charles W. King, Sr.
(January 11, 1939 - August 16, 2011)
Charles Wesley King, Sr., 72 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 11, 1939, in Amba, Kentucky. Charles came to Lorain in 1957, where he had made his home until moving to Amherst where he resided since January, 2011.

Charles was employed at Lorain Ford Motor Corporation for thirty-three years before retiring in 1991. as a relief man. After retirement, he was employed at NAPA Auto Parts. Charles loved golfing, bowling and being outside hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling to casino's and doing puzzles. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-two years Cecelia "Babe" King (nee: Maderia); his son and his wife Charles W. Jr. and Mary Ellen King of Norwalk; his step son and his wife Wayne Jr. and Nicole Ostrosky of Novelty, Ohio; his step daughters Deborah Ostrosky and Michelle Markovich both of South Amherst; his grandchildren Kyle, Brad, Kelsey, Ben, Grace and Madeline; his brothers James D. King of Amherst, Roy G. King and his wife Lana of Grafton; his sisters Phyllis Lawson of Oberlin and Eileen Arena and her husband Joseph of Amherst.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Charlene King in 1984; his infant brother Paul King; and by his parents Samuel J. and Della S. King (nee: Salsbury).

Friends may call Thursday, August 18, 2011, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Evangelist Jim Hiser of Toledo Road Church of Christ in Lorain and Deacon John Slatcoff of St. Vincent DePaul Church of Lorain, will co-officiate. Burial will be in Wakeman Cemetery, Wakeman, OH.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice Center; 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035 or Alzheimer's Association; Cleveland Area Chapter; P.O. Box 74924, Cleveland, OH 44194-4924.

Robert Herman Edward Holtz, Sr.
(September 1, 1935 - August 20, 2011)
Robert Herman Edward Holtz, Sr., 75 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born September 1, 1935 in Elyria. He had lived in the South Amherst and Vermilion areas before retiring to Florida.

Robert was employed with the Ford Lorain Assembly Plant for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1997 as a general maintenance foreman. A man known for his great sense of humor, he also loved fishing and working on cars. Robert was a devoted and loving family man and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his sons Roy Dale Holtz and Ryan Edward Holtz, both of Elyria; his daughters and their husbands Rhonda Anne and Tony Hill of Elyria, Robin Gayle and Van Phillips of Tampa, Florida, Rhea Jeanne and Roy Mankin of Vermilion, and Robbie Lynn and Mark Kohart of Lorain; his grandchildren Jay Eschstenkamper, Kassi Ortiz, Rob Eschstenkamper, Michael Phillips, Jennifer Mankin, Rachel Mankin and Ashley Mankin; five great grandchildren; his brother Ernest Holtz of California; and his sister Dorothy Marshall of Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Elizabeth B. Holtz (nee: Walker) on April 8, 2005; his son Robert "Bobby" Holtz, Jr. on May 27, 1969; his parents Ernest and Elizabeth Holtz (nee: Ferchland); and by his sisters Elizabeth Stossel and Marguerite Teller.

Friends may call Wednesday, August 24, 2011, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Greg Sellers, of the Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.

Eliseo "Al" Philip Copa, Jr.
(November 12, 1937 - August 22, 2011)
U.S. Veteran
Eliseo "Al" Philip Copa, Jr., 73 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011, at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain.

He was born November 12, 1937, in Lorain, Ohio. Al was raised and resided in Lorain for forty-one years before moving to Vermilion where he had made his home for the last twenty-four years.

Al served in the United States Army. He was employed as a truck driver at Consumers Builders Supply for twenty three years before retiring in 1997. Al was a committed and active member of the Believer's Spoken Word Tabernacle in Sheffield Lake where he was instumental in developing the visual aids for the church. Al loved bowling and participating in leagues at Rebmans, Broadway Lanes and Lake Erie Lanes. As a youth Al was active with sports, and excelled in football where he was a fine quarterback.

Survivors include his son Thomas and wife Kimberly Copa of Amherst; his grandsons Cory, Casey and Curtis; sisters Josephine Rhodes of Oberlin, Louise Cromwell and her husband David of Sheffield Lake; brother Antonio "TC" Copa of Amherst as well as many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents Eliseo and Angelina Copa (nee: Laury).

Friends may call Friday, August 26, 2011, from 10:00 until the funeral service at 12:00 at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. James Browning Pastor Emeritus and Rev. Samuel Browning, Pastor of Believers Spoken Word Tabernacle, will co-officiate. military Honors will be performed by the Amherst Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Cleveland Avenue Cemetery, Amherst.

John Mitoff
(March 16, 1931 - August 23, 2011)
U.S. Veteran
John Mitoff, 80 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain.

He was born March 16, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio. John had made his home in Amherst since 1954. He attended Fenn College in Cleveland where he received his Engineering training.

John served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1951 to 1953. He was employed at T.O. Murphy in Oberlin where he worked with commercial and residential plumbing, heating and cooling for thirty-four years before retiring in 1987 as president. John was also involved with the Gund Arena in Cleveland serving as the project manager. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Lorain. John was a member of Elyria Country Club and the Oberlin Rotary Club. John enjoyed spending time supporting his grandchildren's athletic events and activities.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years Dorothy Mitoff (nee: Stewart); his son Jeff Mitoff of Phoenix, Arizona; his daughter and her husband Jan and Steve Morris of Amherst; his grandchildren Abby, Ryan and Connor.

He was preceded in death by his brother George Mitoff; his sisters Emily Weigl, Violet Bodnar; his brother in law George Lazoff and by his parents Kris and Mary Mitoff (nee: Vjosevich).

Friends may call Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer; 647 Reid Avenue, Lorain, OH. The Rev. Mary Carson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

Edith Margaret Powers
(March 12, 1916 - August 24, 2011)
Edith Margaret Powers (nee: Hudson), 95 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at her home following a short illness.

She was born March 12, 1916 in Camden Township where she was raised and graduated from Camden High School with the class of 1933 as Valedictorian. Elyria has been her home for over sixty years.

Edith was a 1934 graduate of the Oberlin School of Commerce and used her education serving as executive secretary to the former president and current Chairman of the Board of Invacare, Malachi Mixson for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of South Amherst and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Edith and her late husband, Warren, especially enjoyed the time they spent at their cottage on Grand Island in Northern Michigan.

Survivors include her nephews Richard L. Hudson of Grosse Point Farms, Michigan and Robert L. Hudson and his wife, Donna, and their children, Brian and Laura, of Lilburn, Georgia; and her dear friend and caregiver Kathleen Sklarek and her husband Randy of Henrietta, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-two years Warren Powers in 1963; her parents Lloyd B. (1955) and Anna Elizabeth (1975) Hudson (nee: Davidson); and her brother S. Lyle Hudson in 1969.

Friends may call Tuesday, August 30, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Jeff Sweitzer, Spiritual Care Coordinator with the Hospice of the Western Reserve, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.

Peter Junior Rockas
(January 23, 1932 - August 24, 2011)
Peter Junior Rockas, 79 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away August 24, 2011 at University Hospital in Cleveland following a brief illness.

He was born January 23, 1932 in Avon Lake where he was raised. Graduating from Avon Lake High School with the class of 1950, he was active in a variety of sports but achieved Hall of Fame in Football. Amherst has been his home for the last forty years.

Peter was employed with the Avon Lake Plant of B.F. Goodrich for thirty-five years, retiring in 1987 as a pipe fitter. He was a member of Amherst Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Post # 1442 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662 and the Polish Clubs in Lorain and Elyria. He was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, and Peter was an avid New York Yankees and Cincinnati Bengal's fan.

Survivors include his daughters Laura Meng (Geoff dec.) of Maryland, and Karen Devine and her husband, Douglas, of Mentor, Ohio; his grandchildren Geoffry Meng, Samantha Devine, Grace Devine, and Peter Devine; his brother George Rockas (Delores dec.) of Avon Lake; and his sisters Ann Holomuski (Joseph dec.) and Mary Able (James dec.), all of Avon Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-five years Carol Rockas (nee: Hart) in 1984; his parents Daniel and Mary Rockas (nee: Rusniak); his brothers John, Nick, Mike, Steve, and Dan Rockas; and his sisters Sylvia Pace and Mildred Coombs .

Friends may call Friday, August 26, 2011, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church; 5100 Ashland Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Gary Georgi, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.

Emilie Louise Feddeck
(November 6, 1947 - August 26, 2011)
Emilie Louise Feddeck (nee: Tritchel), 63 years of age, and a resident of Oberlin, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at the New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a brief illness.

She was born November 6, 1946 in The Bronx, New York where she was raised. She made her home in Westchester County, New York before moving to Oberlin five years ago. Emilie graduated from Hunter College and received her Master's Degree in Home Economics from Lehman College, both in New York City.

Emilie was employed by Lincoln High School in Yonkers, New York as a Home Economics teacher for many years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oberlin and loved reading her Bible. She also enjoyed doing different types of crafts such as knitting and crocheting items for her family, friends, and her church family. Emilie's life revolved around her family. A loving wife and mother, her happiest times were spent with her husband and boys.

Survivors include; her husband of forty-one years Fred C. Feddeck, her sons Fred Frank Feddeck and his wife Shawn of New York and James Joseph Feddeck of Oberlin, and her sister Marie Petersen of Vienna, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Katherine Tritchel (nee: Levits), and her sister Linda Buck.

Friends may call Tuesday, August 30, 2011, from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church; 310 West Lorain St., Oberlin. The Rev. Joshua Moldenhauer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.

John Drake
(June 30, 1939 - August 28, 2011)
John Drake, 72 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain.

He was born June 30, 1939, in Lorain, Ohio. John was raised in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School in the class of 1957. In 1961, he received his Bachelor's of Education at Bowling Green State University where he was a member of the TAU-KAPPA-EPSILON fraternity. He had lived briefly in Lorain, but Amherst had been his home for the majority of his life.

John taught Junior High School for four years at Sheffield Lake Middle School and Lakewood's Horace Mann Junior High. He was also employed at Ford Motor Corporation in Lorain for five years. John retired in 1999, after thirty years as an industrial engineer at USS Kobe in Lorain. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed woodworking. John loved taking care of his standard poodles.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years Jill Drake (nee: Keller); his son and his wife James John and Karyn Drake and their children Emily and Alex of Geneva, Illinois; his daughter and her husband Alison and Kevin Kinnear and their children Claire, and Brian John of Hudson, Ohio; his brother and his wife David and Donna Drake of Gainesville, Florida; his sister and her husband Elizabeth and John Lowe of Demarest, New Jersey; three nieces and one nephew and his beloved pet Tiger a standard poodle .

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Gladys Drake (nee: Bellinger).

Private Graveside services will be held by the family.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
