Rilla Miller
DENVER, Colo. - Defiance County native Rilla (Geren) Miller, 92, Denver, died Friday in Aurora.
She was born Dec. 22, 1907, in Defiance County, the daughter of Charles and Bertie (Burbic) Geren. In 1924, she married Raymond Miller, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Eastern Star and a past worthy matron.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Payton of Denver and Ramona Payne, Littleton; two sisters, Alta Goedde and Hallie Moser, both of Defiance; and three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Kathleen.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday in Crown Hill Cemetery, Denver.

Doris Wulff
MALINTA - Doris Inez Wulff, 85, Malinta, died Saturday at Country View Haven, Napoleon.
She was born May 15, 1915, in Ottawa, the daughter of Orrie and Sadie (Mitchell) Myers. In 1936, she married Arthur Wulff, who died in 1998. She worked at Foster Canning, Napoleon, and Bowers Canning, Hamler. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Malinta and a former member of Pythian Sisters.
Surviving are a son, Darrell, Napoleon; three daughters, Mrs. James (Gwen) Piercefield of Oak Harbor, V. Jane Roberts of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Kenneth (Anita) McCabe, Beverly Hills, Fla.; a sister, Lenore McKenzie, Grand Rapids; two brothers, Lloyd and Oren Myers, both of Grand Rapids; and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Alma Hazlet; three brothers, Adam, Marvin and Melvin Myers; and a grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, with Rev. David Klappenbach officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to HOME Society, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Edgar Wagner
Services for Edgar L. Wagner were held Friday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Revs. Bill Davis and Bryan Maxey officiating. Burial was in Monroe Township Cemetery, Continental, with
military rites accorded by VFW Post 3360. Organist was Carolyn Robinson. Pallbearers were Mike Miller, Russ, Brad, Scott and Matt Wagner, Jeff Melick, Kevin Riley and Doug Maley.

Edward Tuttle
Services for Edward N. Tuttle were held Saturday in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with Rev. Sharon Twining officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Paulding County. Pallbearers were Jim Pearl, Chad Tuttle, Glen Wagner, Mike Clark, Gary Dean and Lee Nuest.

Services for Pearl M. Rose were held Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Nolt officiating. Burial was in Ney Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald, Gregory and Joe Dalton, Tim and Brian Hahn, Derek Rath, Wesley Bowman and Robert Dunlap.

Rev. John Grim
Rev. John Grim, 86, Defiance, died Sunday evening at his home.
He was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Frostburg, Md., the son of Edwin and Bessie (Bannatyne) Grim. In 1946, he married Lorraine Murphy, who survives. He was a 1946 graduate of Frostburg State Teachers College and a 1949 graduate of Bethany Seminary. He was a former chaplain for Fayette County Fire Department and a former member of Farmington Fire Department, both in Pennsylvania. He had been a teacher for 26 years in Uniontown, Pa., schools and a member and retired minister of Defiance Church of the Brethren.
Also surviving are two sons, John of Defiance and Francis, Sherwood; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Martha) Punches, Defiance; two brothers, C.F. of Akron and L.D., San Saba, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Katherine Smith, both of Frostburg; and seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Preceding him in death were a brother, William; three sisters, Elizabeth Seltzer, Ann Thomas and Marge Runion-Fike.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Gideons' International.

Thelma Gerken
Thelma M. Gerken, 78, Defiance, died at 2:08 p.m. Saturday in her residence.
She was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Defiance County, the daughter of Alva and Matilda (Stork) Retcher. In 1945, she married Walter Gerken, who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fun Club and St. John Lutheran Church.
Also surviving are three sons, Dean, Dennis and Jerry, all of Ayersville; three daughters, Mrs. Dwight (Phyllis) Etter of Continental, Mrs. Tim (Cheryl) DeBrosse of West Milton and Mrs. Jerry (Margene) Kennedy, Defiance; two brothers, Larry Retcher of Holgate and Marion Retcher, Ayersville; a sister, Imogene Hoellrich, Ayersville; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a brother, Wayne Retcher.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation is 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. today in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance, Cancer Care of Defiance or the church.

Roger Schultz
Roger D. Schultz, 75, Defiance, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday in his residence.
He was born March 6, 1925, in Defiance County, the son of Earl and Ella (Stelter) Schultz. In 1952, he married Mary Lou Stock, who died in 1984. He was an insurance adjuster and appraiser with GAB Services for 25 years and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Defiance Eagles Aerie 372, Defiance Elks Lodge 147, Exalted Rulers Association, Zenobia Temple of Toledo, Masons and St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Catherine of Toledo and Joanie Rae, Long Beach, Calif.; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Richard (Deborah) Bowers, Defiance.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; a son, John; and two brothers, John and Paul.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Revs. Todd Anderson and Suzanne Allen officiating. Burial will be in Evansport Cemetery. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Wednesday with an Elks service at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance.

Denver Carroll
BRYAN - Denver D. Carroll, 74, Bryan, died Saturday morning in Dilworth Center, Montpelier.
He was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Toledo, the son of Lester and Orpha (Rittenour) Carroll. In 1948, he married Betty Spencer, who survives. He worked at Ohio Art Co., Bryan, for 44 years, and was a member of Pulaski United Methodist Church, Masonic Blue Lodge 214 and Bryan Moose Lodge 1064.
Also surviving are a son, Gary, West Unity; a daughter, Lynne Grandey, Hicksville; three sisters, Betty Stokes of Bryan, Evelyn Unger of Coldwater, Mich., and Dorothy Strayer, Wauseon; and five grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rice Funeral Home, Bryan, with Rev. Melvin Peter officiating. Burial will be in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Community Hospitals of Williams County Hospice.
